There's always something interesting in their collection, which at any time has handmade, vintage, collectible, and other unique items alongside more conventional ones. The more desirable vintage and antique items won't be cheap, but they'll be cheaper than at a curated vintage or antique furniture shop. Jubilee isn't a thrift store, and in some cases their prices can be a bit high. Everything is final sale, so there's an element of "buyer beware," like most resale shops. They put the brand name on the price tag if it's a selling point, but not so much for cheaper brands. Once I purchased an item here, and when I got home I found the label and saw it was made in China by a low-end furniture company. I never would have paid as much had I known, so I felt a bit duped. However I still wound up going back as I never found as much furniture I liked anywhere else. And for what it's worth, the item has held up. Most of their service is provided by volunteers, who are nice, but some are more knowledgeable than others. To sum up, it's not perfect, but in a retail landscape where most new furniture is either flimsy "manufactured wood" or ultra-expensive high end brands, Jubilee helps fill an important gap for affordable quality furniture.

The contract is full of penalties for the customer if we are not at home when they deliver. They promised delivery on the 11th. It's now the 24th, and no one has called us, no updates, no explanation. It seems they can delay as long as they want and break their commitments, while we are expected to sit at home and wait for weeks. On top of that, if we leave and miss their random delivery attempt, we risk getting fined - even though they already missed their promised date by two weeks. This is unacceptable. Payment should only be collected upon delivery, not in advance for this "great" furniture shop ! Never again with this store, and I would not recommend it to anyone !!!

I had one of the worst customer service experiences at Steinhafels (Schaumburg/Norridge locations)…read more I purchased two chairs on a Sunday from Schaumburg store and scheduled delivery for the following Wednesday. On Monday, the very next day, I decided to cancel after finding a better option. I made multiple attempts to cancel beforehand -- I called the store, was redirected to customer service, spoke to Bill, who told me he was off today and was told I had to speak to my salesperson, who I couldn't reach as well. Since I couldn't get help over the phone, I drove to the Norridge store in person (closer to me). At that point, I was told it was "too late" because the chairs were already on a delivery truck -- nearly 48 hours before the scheduled delivery. I was also told I would be charged a $100 delivery fee for items I never received. Customer service representative named Nate (no last name given) was completely unhelpful and inflexible, repeating policy without any effort to resolve the situation or acknowledge the circumstances. Was very dismissive and didn't acknowledge the situation at all. After over an hour of frustration -- including calling my bank to initiate a dispute -- the manager in training (forgot his name) in the Norridge store was finally able to cancel the order without the fee. This proves the situation could have been handled properly from the start. After over an hour of frustration -- including calling my financing provider to initiate a dispute -- an assistant manager in the store was able to fully cancel the order without penalty. This review would have been one star, but I'm giving an extra star solely because of that effort, even though they still agreed with the policy itself.
