Terrible service and zero accountability! We purchased a sofa at The Dump in Deerfield and paid in full upfront - the sofa price, delivery fee (including carrying it upstairs), and taxes. The contract is full of penalties for the customer if we are not at home when they deliver. They promised delivery on the 11th. It's now the 24th, and no one has called us, no updates, no explanation. It seems they can delay as long as they want and break their commitments, while we are expected to sit at home and wait for weeks. On top of that, if we leave and miss their random delivery attempt, we risk getting fined - even though they already missed their promised date by two weeks. This is unacceptable. Payment should only be collected upon delivery, not in advance for this "great" furniture shop ! Never again with this store, and I would not recommend it to anyone !!! read more

My question is: IF A PRODUCT IS IN THE STORE BEING DISPLAYED, Is that a floor sample? My answer is YES and when I am not told I will be receiving a floor sample instead of a completely new product I CALL THAT FRAUD AND BAIT AND SWITCH. The Good: We overall like our new dining table. It really fits well in our kitchen and feel it will (overall) last for many years! The bad: The tabletop material already scratched/chipped a bit after wiping with the most gentle microfiber cloth in the FIRST day. Wouldn't say it's better then furniture from a place like, say, Costco. Solid construction but outlet quality. If you are willing to pay a little more I'm sure there are better furniture stores out there. The place gives off major 1970's used car salesman vibes. We were approached by multiple salesman and the one we ended up with followed us around the whole store, and pressured up to pick something out that very day. Wasn't a huge fan of that vibe. Paid over $5000.00 for a king sized bed and accessories. After 2 months of normal use, the supporting slats (particle board 1x3) cracked and broke, causing an obvious slump in the mattress. We are both average weight (180 & 110) and this occurred while sleeping, not moving. The first piece of furniture we got here months ago was a good buy so we figured it was safe to go back but we have had nothing but problems ever since. That first piece was from the Joanna Gaines collection so that's probably why it hasn't been problematic. The couch we got from the Dump though has been a huge nightmare from the instant the delivery guys rushed in. Rude delivery people who very clearly didn't put it together correctly, horrible customer service when we called the shop directly (you have to call a generic help desk I guess because they're plagued by so many problematic deliveries) and endless loops of waiting for service people then having them finally show up to essentially ask you why you bothered to buy this thing. We should have known not to trust a salesperson who was bragging during the sale about how many people's stimulus checks she managed to get through other sales. The name of the store is IRONICALLY APPROPRIATE. The Dump is easily the worst furniture retailer in America and this location is probably the very worst store in the chain. It is a great place to browse for too-good-to-be-true deals, but not so much for guarantee of quality or timely receipt of merchandise. Merchandise is acquired via unconventional channels, thus compromising both the condition and availability of items. Their internal logistics are even worse still, but the only thing worse than the supply chain is their abysmal customer service. If you call to complain about merchandise received to the store, then they will refer you to their customer service hotline. (Referred to by the Orwellian euphemism "Customer Care," which is ironic because they DO NOT CARE. They might transfer the call back to the original store, and perhaps back-and-forth ad infinitum.) The main desk is staffed by two very rude twenty-something Latinas. I don't know their names, but there's a shorter one "the Bad Cop" and a taller, heavyset one "the Good Cop." [So called because of their dynamic, though more like bad cop and worse cop. I know they can be pleasant to deal with when their mood is good, but unfortunately that is rare with the way the business operates.] The ladies have a very abrasive and condescending attitude with customers and sales personnel alike. About this store, it is not the first Dump store in the Chicago metro area, established in 2018, a full five years after the original Chicagoland store. I was surprised to find that, though sales staff mostly live nearby, all of the office staff lives in the west suburbs. The aforementioned ladies as well as both of the managers were transferred over from the Lombard store. No coincidence! The Deerbrook store is very much a satellite of the Lombard store. Surely that supervisory relationship is the only thing keeping them afloat, considering the incompetence of management. It is truly a miracle that this store is still in business. Bottom line, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from this store! Their sales staff is the only redeeming factor. They are genuinely knowledgeable and courteous for the most part. Though I would not purchase from this store, if you absolutely must then you MUST get the insurance plans for furniture and rugs (around 9-20% of the pre-tax merchandise cost). It is not strictly mandatory, but I'd recommend doing so for two reasons: because sales staff are paid on commission only and get a paltry sum from sale of goods, they are good people underappreciated by corporate but get the greater share of commission from selling the protection plans; and if something goes wrong with furniture/rugs (and it probably will, given questionable quality), at least the plan can potentially remedy damages that the company won't. They delivered a 4200$ bedroom set that had scratches all over it so we refused delivery and sent it back. They charged a 20% restock fee saying the design of the set was a 'distressed look' and was fine. After numerous calls, visits to the store to verify the floor model did not look this way and getting our credit card company involved they finally refunded the difference. What mad me madder over and above the issue was that if this happened to an elderly person or someone with out some fight in them, they would have been totally exploited. We purchased a beautiful Italian leather sectional and ottoman. Our sales associate sold us insurance which supposedly covered anything that happens to it, rips, stains, wine, etc. for$500. We called the insurance company, which is a third party entity "Tri County Furniture" to clean a stain. After three different people came to repair it, they walked out without even trying to fix it. One said he thought he was fixing fabric, not leather and didn't have the right equipment. One said he did not have the right tools, and the third said it was wear and tear. No one is taking responsibility and apparently it's $500 down the drain. Will never shop here again, and calling the store repeatedly was futile. Could not get one person to help. They attempted to deliver a mattress with a shoe print on it. 4 of the 6 chairs in our dinning room set are wobbling. Customer service does not return calls or emails. They do not answer the phone. You cannot leave a message because the mailbox is full. We have no idea when or if we are going to receive another mattress. It's been 4 days now and no response. I called the insurance number (insurance I paid for) and they gave me a horrible run around. I then emailed the dump and my sales person and was basically ignored. Today after weeks of texting, emailing and calling their home offices and getting different answers that it was just a matter of calling the Dump in Deerfield store and they would return a brand new bed that I've just purchased, Here the answers were that they Don't accept returns! I got exhausted and just let it go. This is beyond my energy levels. They were simply not going to honor the return of a brand new bed that wasn't sturdy. Their automated system reached back and congratulated me for giving them a 0 in customer satisfaction! Seriously we need to be mindful and careful specially now, where do we invest $1000! The selection is great here but it can overwhelming. I recommend knowing exactly what you are looking for and sizes of what you need because otherwise it is hard to make a decision! The prices are reasonable so you'll want to buy a lot but there are SO many choices. We had a helpful sales associate but he wouldn't listen to what we wanted. Nope, not for me. I had a feeling I knew what to expect when I walked in, and it's a good thing I didn't have high expectations. In fact, I left feeling so anxious I will probably never go back :-( I'm claustrophobic and easily overwhelmed when I shop, I require lots of space and time. I was really excited to stop by The Dump to see what it was all about, and today my hubby and I made the visit. Note: They are only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I'm not sure how they obtain all their merchandise, but I know some of it comes from showrooms in North Carolina (the furniture capital of the US). I believe they purchase floor models or overstock items that they buy in bulk and are able to resell at a nice discount. It's a great concept, but we sat on most of the sofas and only found one sectional that felt comfortable for my tall hubby and short me. We didn't have a ton of time to look, because we were pretty much followed wherever we went. Though the sales team was friendly, they pounced us right out of the store. I mean NOOOO time to browse at all. In the matter of 20 minutes we were in the store, we had four people approach and walk "with" us everywhere we went. One woman actually approached my husband within the two minutes we first entered the store and asked him what his name was and said she noticed how taken back he was when he had to answer (that was weird). Okay, now that I got all that out of the way, we saw a few things we liked. The sofa mentioned above, some fun side tables, a super cool adjustable-in-size round dining table, and the pretty killer rug selection. I'd come back here for a rug, if I was in the market. ***** I held off on writing this review because I wanted to contact The Dump directly and give them a chance to respond first. After sending a message to customer service and also responding to their request for feedback, I have still not heard back from them, so I would like to share my experience here. ***** When my wife and I were shopping for furniture for our new place, my sister recommended that we check out The Dump, and we were really glad we did. After shopping at six other furniture stores, we finally discovered the beautiful Pamela sofa and loveseat set in their showroom and decided to buy it. Maia Jones was the salesperson who assisted us and she was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the shopping and purchasing process, helping us hone in on exactly what we were looking for. Overall, I was very pleased with the in-store experience. The delivery of the furniture, however, left a bit of a sour note. The delivery men arrived just before the anticipated 3-hour window, which was great. However, the main guy (didn't get his name) took one look at my front staircase and said that the longer piece wasn't going to fit, but that he'd pull it out of the truck and snap a picture of it in the staircase to "prove" that it wouldn't fit. I'll admit that it is a pretty tight turn to get it up the first leg of the stairs (we live in a second-floor apartment), however I didn't appreciate his pessimistic attitude. It seemed like he was looking for a reason to abort the delivery and was more interested in getting a photograph to cover himself than actually trying to get the sofa inside. At this point he had me sign a waiver in case any damage occurred while they were trying to move it up the stairs, which I was fine with signing. On their first try at getting it around the corner of the staircase, it was close but they couldn't quite make the turn. I asked if we could try removing the feet from the sofa, but he said no and that it wasn't going to work. At that point, I realized that they weren't willing to try again, so I told them just to leave the sofa on the front lawn and I'd try moving it myself later (there is a 15% restocking fee if they have to take the furniture back). They got the loveseat up the stairs with relatively little trouble. Then I signed a bunch of forms and spoke briefly on the phone with one of The Dump's agents to confirm that I would keep the furniture even though the sofa was still on the front lawn. After the delivery men left, I took the feet off the sofa, removed the front door to the building, and after two attempts, my brother-in-law and I were able to get the sofa up the stairs and into my apartment. I'm not saying it was easy, but if the two of us could figure it out, I think that a pair of professional delivery men should also be able to do it. I'm frustrated that they gave up so quickly. I paid an extra $149 for delivery since I have bad knees and a bad back, but I ended up doing the hardest part myself. I'm very happy with the furniture now that it's inside. I'm a fan of The Dump's products, I feel that their prices are very reasonable, and I think they have a great concept for selling closeout and overstock furniture, but at this point I'm so disappointed with the delivery process that I would hesitate to recommend them to friends and family. read more

One of the recliners had a cut electrical cord when it was delivered and didn't recline. 8 weeks later and an infinite number of calls to the customer service center and to the store and we are still waiting for it to be fixed. The Dump's luxe sectional is obviously a knockoff of the Restoration Hardware's cloud sectional which is about $3000 a section. Bought the dumps 5 piece luxe sectional for a little over $3000 a year ago. The pillows ARE NOT FEATHER PROOF! Lost about 50% of feathers in not even a year of ownership! I do not recommend the couch as the feathers come through and poke you. The pillows are not made with downproof ticking fabric and made with a cheaper fabric! Customer service could not do anything further to assist with the problem due to us not spending more money for the warranty! I highly recommend to stay away from this product unless you want to be poked by sharp feathers and lose integrity of a $3000 couch in a year. read more

Upon walking in the store is super inviting, the store is huge, outlet vibes, beautiful furniture, walked in here with my fiance looking to fill our new home with some things we wanted for our new home. We partnered with our SA Aira, super Nice gentleman, super helpful throughout the floor. Now, here's where the experience got very bad for us, when it came down to delivery, not every item was delivered, it has taken them months to deliver a bed with no delivery date, when we contact our sales associate, the gentleman unfortunately has no control of what happens in the warehouse, customer service or management, so know he cannot help you get your item delivered faster. NOTE: all sales are final, check everything once it's delivered, we got tables with scratches, missing parts, ans one of the tables was not even real wood after it was inspected by a professional. When you call customer service to get delivery dates or complain about your furniture, the manager herself does not care, specially after they have taken your money. I truly do not recommend this store. The troubles and pain trying to get thousands of dollars we spent delivered on time and undamaged are not worth the "so called deal " here. Save yourself time and do not come here. She was the rudest, most condescending individual I have ever spoken to. She lacks all people skills and most importantly customer service. I went to the store tried it out and it was exactly what I wanted. When the wrong mattress was delivered I immediately called the store and spoke with the manager Jennifer. After looking into it she told me that the mattress the same one and that it will soften over time. I purchased soft mattress and was delivered firm one so her statement was untrue. After purchasing my entire living room and bedroom set from The Dump, well over $8,000 combined and referring my in laws and friends to purchase furniture from the dump, I am finished being a customer and recommending them!! After 16 months of owning the bed I noticed the support bar was cracked in half and 2 of the feet in the middle were broken. I called the Dump but since it was after a year they referred my to GBS warranty services. After waiting on hold in voicemail hell I ended up hanging up and went online to file my claim. That was the end of November 2021. After checking online and giving them leeway due to the holidays I emailed customer service regarding my status. Immediate response that it was still in the approval stage. 8 weeks later still in approval stage!?! Few weeks later email again, didn't hear back until end of February that my claim had been denied!?!? I sent an email saying what!?! Why??? I wasn't asking for a knew before! I'm asking to replace the support board and feet that were broken! I add that I'm starting to think this additional insurance is a fraud!!! No response! I finally get ahold of a live customer service rep who informed me that it was approved but awaiting the parts which are back ordered. Totally understandable because everything was back ordered but I would've appreciated more communication telling me all of this. Today April 8th I finally get a call to set up a time for workers to come out and replace the side rails ... what the what!?!? Side rails after 10 minute discussion the very pleasant employee informs me GBS ordered the wrong parts!!! How in order to file the claim I had to upload pictures, I even received an email requesting additional photos!!! Going on six months for a support beam and feet!?!? Mind you thank goodness a few months before I had bought a cheap sectional couch off Amazon from Honbay for our basement which my husband and I have had to sleep on for the past 5+ months or else we'd been in sleeping bags!!! FYI we couldn't sleep in the bed because in the fine print it reads if you alter or try and fix it yourself they will not cover the parts!!! Biggest disappointment is with The Dump staff after calling saying they denied my claim!?!? Then being told I'd have to deal with GBS and really not caring about the situation! They said it was out of their hands they have no control over GBS but then don't make your salesperson sell it as if it's so easy to file a claim and they're fast to fix stuff!! Fantastic place! Clean- welcoming employees. Jennifer started it all! She was able find a great bed with other furniture I needed for my place. We also met Dennis. A fantastic store manager who assisted in other great deals. Finally we met Barb. A great gal who took care of me with a minor issue regarding a table. I had an amazing experience at The Dump. I went in looking for a pretty specific dining set- table, chairs, china cabinet, and buffet. I ended up getting exactly what I wanted for an amazing price, but the customer service was what really stood out. I had to change delivery numerous times, and each time Bruce, our salesman, was more than willing to assist with that. I'm pretty sure it's not his job, but he never passed me off to someone else, just took care of the change. And when a glass shelf arrived broken, and we didn't realize it until a few days later, I emailed Bruce again. He contacted someone who set up a replacement to be delivered the next day- a Sunday morning. We were so happy with his service that we went back to get a rug to complete the room. Let me preface this by saying I'm in sales; technology, not retail, but that's really beside the point. Whoever is running the sales team at "The Dump" needs to do a training ASAP. My husband I wanted to browse. On our own. Without someone following us. I understand they're on commission but maybe develop a commission structure that doesn't make your sellers come off as desperate. At one point we were finally not followed to another section of the store and began interacting with another employee/salesperson. The initial person tailing us was suddenly peering around a corner weirdly watching us interact with the second salesperson. After an awkward interaction between the two salespeople we just walked aimlessly in another direction. We really liked a couch we saw and are still shopping around but honestly, it was one of the most awkward, uncomfortable retail shopping experiences I've had in a while. Train you team, adjust the commission structure, do whatever you need to do but keep in mind the most important thing, is your customers' experience. If prospective customers are leaving because they're uncomfortable, it will effect your bottom line. read more

I absolutely love this place! Been meaning to go for years and I finally did and now I've been there five times in the last month. They have every kind of style that you could possibly want but it's not special order, it's what's on the floor. But we're talking really high-quality stuff at unbelievable prices. And a huge selection. The people who work there are super nice, they'll ask you if you need help and if you say no they'll leave you alone. But they're helpful if you want them to be. I will be back for more and a check for new stuff all the time. But be aware, they're only open Friday Saturday and Sunday. I wish I had found this place years ago. read more
