Walter & his assistant filmed our wedding in April 2010 in Temecula, CA. Videography wasn't one of our big priorities for our wedding but we knew we wanted to at least be able to watch it later... so I did some Google'ing and research and was recommended to Walter by another videographer who wasn't available. He was SUPER communicative via email which was one of the biggest reasons why I ended up booking with him, and we were super, super appreciative that Walter was able to accommodate our budget by adjusting the # of hours/etc. While I'm so thankful that 1) they showed up and 2) they filmed all the key moments, a few little things disappointed me... *I think we agreed to HD, but I'm pretty sure our actual videos were not in HD (maybe what I understood to be HD was different than what it was... I was expecting HD cameras to LOOK like HD when you watch them on an HD TV... but it's not.) *Random administrative annoyance--he spelled my husband's name (Bryan) wrong on our DVD... twice ("Brian") *The overall editing of the video/DVD was also a little disappointing. I feel stupid writing it, but maybe it really is about "getting what you pay for." I didn't think it would be fair to strip him down to 3 stars because we didn't necessarily pay for the premium package, but then again--it is what it is, right? And to be honest I don't think I would recommend him to others. Maybe our wedding video and experience was a fluke (that would suck!) but I was a smidge disappointed, all in all. Thankfully (as I already mentioned) the videography wasn't our #1 priority so it didn't devastate us, but it does make me think that if you're going to pay someone to do video, consider paying for the full-service/high-quality packages to make sure you get something worth keeping and playing again and again over the years. read more

When you think of wedding videos, the old cliche probably springs to mind: cheesy, grainy, badly edited monstrosities that no one but the bride and groom could ever want to watch. Well, fortunately for L.A. brides we have some much better options. At the very top of the list is Walter Pawluk. Once I saw his demo video, I knew there was no one else I'd want to tape my wedding. Walter's work is really a cut above the rest. His camera is steady (unlike so many shaky, handheld demos we saw) and he doesn't resort to flashy editing or unnecessary Dutch angles to create a beautiful wedding video. Every single person who sees our wedding video tells us they've never seen one like it. It's so professionally done. Walter was also a real pleasure to work with. He's friendly and laid back. He was sort of everywhere and nowhere on our wedding day--- he captured every moment, but without being obtrusive or getting in the way of the guests. Walter is amazing! I got married 6 months ago and am slow to getting around to this review, as I'm not typically a big reviewer...at all. However, I felt compelled to get the word out about our experience with him and his awesome assistant, Tommy. We emailed a lot of different videographers and while their sample videos were nice, their prices were all ridic for what we would get. Some charged an arm and leg just for a highlight reel. My co-worker was also getting married months before us and referred me to her videog, Walter. Not only were his sample videos great, but he was the best bang for the buck and much, MUCH (did I mention MUCH) more reasonably priced than everyone else! We set a Starbucks meeting to meet in person and we really liked him the moment we met with him. No, really. He is super cool, professional and has such an easy, fun, funny aura about him. He is clearly just a friendly, good guy. He was the fastest vendor decision we made, if that explains it. Oh and also, he is a pro at PROMPT email responses. I had plenty of questions before the wedding and we emailed plenty after, once it was almost our turn for the editing. Fast forward to the wedding day. Walter and Tommy were prompt (early, actually) and started doing their thing while we were getting ready in our hotel suite. He also asked myself and husband, separately of course, some fun interview questions and the results of those made it into the highlight reel partially and into the video and let me say, those candid moments set the tone for the videos -- but most importantly, for the day. I remember feeling how real the day was getting after he asked me how I felt. I thank him for that feeling. At the wedding itself, I seriously don't remember seeing them much. Walt told us at the initial meeting that his style is to be stealth and capture everything without getting in the bride and groom's way and making things feel posed. He obviously meant what he said and did the BEST job in not getting in our way at all. Guy has skills!!! We just received our videos last month and while it will take some time to get your videos, it is WORTH the wait. He has massive footage to get through and edit to perfection, so we were not worried about rushing him. We love everything and reliving those memories are everything! Seriously, if you're thinking of not doing videography, I urge you to reconsider. You will be missing out on things you will have forgotten from a cray busy day, or things you never got to see because you weren't there in those moments. I just wanted to finally chime in and mention what so many people already know.. Walter video taped our wedding 7 years ago now and i just can't imagine NOT having what he created for us! It was really fun watching the video initially and seeing all of the little details that we missed during the wedding day, but as the years have gone by it's priceless having something so well made to revisit every year on our anniversary. Since then a lot of friends have moved away, are married and raising their kids, my grandparents are no longer with us.. Watching the video takes me back to how everything was that day.. and it's not just a flashy montage, it's an hour long and it left no stone unturned. What a great experience.. simple and professional. I contacted Walter to create a video for me where I could introduce myself to my customers online without it being boring but somehow getting a whole lot of information across at the same time. He made suggestions along the way and brought a bunch of ides to the table. We just got our wedding video from Walter Pawluk and watched it last night. WOW... It's funny because he sent the DVD's with some popcorn and it was perfect because it really was like watching a full-on Hollywood movie!!! Walter's creativity in editing and sound-mixing is phenomenal. Let me tell you about our entire experience with Walter. We purchased the 8-hour package from him so he and an additional videographer showed up slightly before 2pm at the hotel. One followed me around and the other followed the bride around. During that time they captured a lot of precious moments, ones that you wouldn't necessarily remember without having recorded it. Walter and his fellow videographer were extremely relaxed and had a calming influence - after a while you didn't even realize they were following you around. And THAT is the sign of someone who knows what they're doing. The real treat of Walter is his talent at picking out the best moments from the footage and through slow-motion, sound-weaving, editing, and special effects, he creates this wonderful movie that you really can watch over and over. In one sequence, he embeded our wedding slide show and off to the side, he has footage of me and my wife sitting next to each other watching the slide show. He caught all of our reactions which was awesome. His creativity and talent are evident from the start of the video - even the package the DVD's came in was neatly decorated! Walter TAPED our wedding in 1996. I'm overdue to have him transfer it to DVD. I love my wedding video. I have seen more recent work, and I am amazed at how much he has developed his craft. His videos are as good as or better than anything I've seen on TV. REALLY. He has great attention to detail and he moves quietly around, capturing special things invisibly. He is extremely creative and attentive to the personal preferences of the people he works with. He adds whimsy whenever possible, because, well, it's supposed to be the happiest day of your life and your video should make you smile. Two things about his work stand out to me: 1. His videos are FUN to watch for everyone. That is rare. 2. He's quick and quiet, and he gets GREAT footage of things like children at play, behind-the-scenes action, mishaps both big and small -- he seems to know where to look for unusual happenings that the bride and groom don't get to see. We got married in April of 2008 and had a wonderful experience with Walter Pawluk. Our conversations with other videographers had been negative, so we weren't sure what to expect with him. At our first meeting, we were immediately comfortable and very impressed. Walter created a warm, laid-back atmosphere in his office. After talking with us for a few minutes, he picked out a sample video that he thought would show an example of what we had in mind. He had matched our style perfectly, and we were immediately hooked. Walter did a fantastic job with our wedding video!! I was scrambling to find a videographer the month before our wedding because I had debated for so long if we even needed one. Six months after the wedding (after all the events of that evening have become fuzzy), and after watching our video this weekend, I can without a doubt say, a good videographer is a must!! Walter Pawluk is an amazing videographer. My husband and I were married last spring in Las Vegas, and Walter and an assistant travelled to capture our special day for us. We really had debated over having a video made of our wedding, especially since we had spent a lot of our budget on a photographer. In the end, we decided it would be great to have a video to look back on our wedding day. We couldn't be happier with our choice- Walter's video is fantastic! If I had to choose between our wedding photos or the wedding video, I'd chose the video! What a wonderful way to experience our wedding over and over again. The wedding day is over in a flash, and Walter's video allowed us to remember the important things, as well as see events we weren't present for. Walter and his assistant did such an incredible job, and the best part is that we really didn't notice them! I don't know how two men with all of their camera equipment could have been so unobtrusive, but they sure did pull it off. This really allows him to capture the purest emotions, since you don't feel like your "acting" for the camera. My husband and I felt like Walter's video was a steal for the price. We had looked at other videographers, and most of the other videographers' prices were outrageous. The lower priced videographers we found had very grainy, shaky video footage, with horrible sound quality. Some were even still photos made into a video sideshow! We were getting a little discouraged and thought maybe we'd have to forgo a video. Then my dad found Walter, who had worked on a friend's wedding. We immediately loved the quality, and were so excited! As a few other reviewers have said, if there is an error, Walter will fix it free of charge. My name was spelling wrong on the cover of the discs, and Walter immediately replaced them, and didn't ask for the other copies to be returned. Walter produced a video of our school talent show. The video turned out great, and had some nice creative elements from Walter, but there is one particular point that deserves comment. When I received all the final DVDs I noticed that a date on one menu page was incorrect. Not a huge deal but it would be important for some. Walter took full responsibility for this, corrected the date and sent us new DVDs, all at his cost. He didn't waffle on this or make excuses or make me feel like I'm being unreasonable or giving him a hard time. He just said "that's on me" and took responsibility for the error. Sadly, this is not so common in today's tough economic times. It makes a big difference to know you are working with someone like this. This was also my first time getting a show filmed, and I threw him a few curves at times and he just rolled with it. I think if you go over what you want very carefully with Walter and get a clear idea of what the final product is going to look like, then you can be be assured you are working with a person of integrity and will get an excellent video. read more

Walter handled the videography for me and my wife's wedding in March of 2013. I just bought a Panasonic ZT60 Plasma HDTV and I have to say the HD picture quality is amazing. Throughout the night, Walter and his team were so friendly and professional. He is not pushy like most other photographers and he captured all the great moments naturally without making us pose or feel unnatural throughout the day/night. Also, the photographer we hired mentioned how easy Walter was to work with. Even though the two teams had never met before, they worked very well together and didn't get in each other's way. What can I say about Walter that would supplement the 5 stars I just gave him? Here it goes... he's Wonderful! He's one of the most easy-going, relaxed but professional wedding vendor I've worked with - not only did I hire him for my own wedding but I hired him for family weddings as well. I met Walter after he was referred to me by my photographer (whom I also adore) and instantly felt comfortable with him style, approach and attitude. Seriously, stop looking and book Walter TODAY. He's such an awesome videographer/editor, I can't recommend him highly enough! And I have recommended him to friends and family... Our wedding video is so well done, we could (and have) watch it over and over. The 3-minute summary is my favorite to show to friends & family and captures our day so well. The editing is so perfect with the music; really flawless. During the video itself he captured so many special moments and even some moments I wasn't aware of during the day, yet he never seemed to be in the way on the day of. He was truly a fly on the wall! Our favorite part of the video was when our minister, who was giving a sermon on the three types of love in Armenian, used the word Eros "like erotic" to describe physical love. Our best man's reaction was so priceless, and Walter zoomed right in on him... So brilliantly hilarious everyone dies of laughter watching it. I also loved how he incorporated music even when other kinds of music are playing, and how he intermixed two different scenes to make things interesting. He did a great job capturing the details and the overall feeling of the day. So the reason I'm writing this review now, 3 years after our wedding, is that I just saw his video of my cousin's wedding. So great!! I only saw the summary and the dance/reception clips but they were so amazing! I kept thinking "Walter is a genius" while watching and a few ppl in the group were choked up while watching! Walter is a great person to work with and doesn't impose his ego on his work. He genuinely seems to enjoy capturing the personality of the couple in unique ways. Walter did an absolutely wonderful job filming and capturing the essence of our Welcome Party and Wedding/Reception. He was able to navigate the technicalities of an Indian wedding with the nuances & subtleties of the chill Malibu vibe we were going for, and wove it all together beautifully. He was very thorough, ensuring that key family members were incorporated, but also very comprehensive, capturing the end-to-end flow. Additionally, his editing and sound/music incorporation captured the mood of the day as he spun together ~8hrs of events.... Today when we watch our video, especially the ~15min summary video, we're immediately transported back. Do yourself a favor and hire Walter. Do not even hesitate. The last thing I wanted to do was focus on finding a videographer after our photographer was hired for our wedding this past March so I asked my coordinator for some suggestions and decided on Walter after reading some reviews and meeting him in person. First, EVERYONE told me he is above all, the nicest person you can have with you all day on your big day. Many people even told me they never even recalled seeing a videographer because he's so great at capturing anything and everything that matters (without having to be told, he just knows) but he is so discreet. His prices are competitive and worth every single cent. We opted for two shooters (highly recommended) and the highlight and full length video and I cannot say enough about the quality of these two films. They are cinematic, heartwarming and never cheesy and Walter is so amazing at hearing you and producing EXACTLY what you wanted, even if you didn't know you wanted it at the time or how to articulate it. I swear he can read minds. The little personal touches and details will blow your mind. The style of storytelling in both short and long form videos is so vivid and spectacular, it leaves you feeling like nothing was missed. After watching several other mini highlights (which felt too short and pointless to me at 4-5 mins) I immediately knew Walter's signature style was for me. There is no overproduction or heavy-handed effects to hurt your head. There are moments of music blended with sound bites to hear the stuff that matters and it's all so beautifully wrapped up. I like how the five stars option on yelp is "woohoo! as good as it gets!" - because that aptly captures what I thought about Walter's service and product. I say service and product because both matter when you're working with a videographer, and Walter is A++ on both fronts. I learned about Walter through a photographer who recommended him at a convention event and decided to make an appointment to meet with him. I wasn't sure I wanted a wedding video, but after meeting Walter, and watching some of his work, I was convinced having a video capsule of the day would be the perfect way to keep my memories. By this, I do not mean that Walter made a hard sell. Quite the opposite. Walter is super laid back, not pushy, very very nice, patient, and just an all around easy going guy. His work really speaks for itself, and the comfort of being able to ask dumb questions and express what you want from your day, and feeling like he was going to do everything he could to accommodate your goals, really made all the interactions with him really stress free (this goes from the moment you meet with him, until you get your video - Walter is responsive and helpful through and through). And when you're planning and going through your wedding, having a top of the line, helpful and non-stress inducing support team is KEY!! Walter will be that guy (and his team too). Not to mention, for the quality of service and experience you get from Walter, his prices are super reasonable. On the day of the event, Walter and his team were on time, professional, did their job without you realizing they were there, and again, did I say super professional. I also like that, because he has a lot of experience, the video storyline he offers really does a great job of capturing the essence of the day. You don't have to do too much thinking because Walter's got it all down. I've seen some other videos that lose the personal touch of a wedding because they get too carried away with theatrics, and I would say that while Walter certainly produces a clean and smooth video with transitions in all the right places and super professional quality, he is mindful to include audio and human moments that help give the video a personalized touch, heart and soul. In looking at my video, I feel like Walter approaches each assignment with the couple in mind, and really does a great job of tailoring the video to capture the look, feel, and essence of your day. And for this, I know that I'll be able to watch the video anytime and be transported to the exact moments and feelings of that day. Where do I begin about Walter? We LOVE him. Okay, enough about that! Walter is not only beyond professional, he made our day so much fun, relaxing, and the biggest compliment to him, we forgot he was there. By seeing the footage, it was evident.... Walter and his lovely assistant are such pros, they just maneuver around everything and everyone. Not only did we enjoy Walter's relaxed approach, he is a true artist- and fit perfectly with our personalities. He captured the moments.... when we got our DVD back, my hubby and I sat in stunned silence. It felt like we were watching the most beautiful movie, with music we loved.... put together like a dream. I really can not say anything negative about Walter Pawluk's Videography. He did an incredible job on our wedding video! Both my husband and I LOVED every second! He captured every moment, complimented it with the perfect music. Walter communicated throughout the whole process, any question we had, easily met with us. Whether it was via email or phone, he responded to us. On the day of the wedding, all of us felt comfortable, he was not a huge spectacle either or got in the way.
