Whenever I'm passing through or in town on business, this is one of my go-to spots. Walking in reminds me of an old-school bar or pub, with several different rooms to chill in if you're with friends or just want a change of vibe. I usually head straight to the bar for a pint. Malissa and the rest of the crew are always friendly and helpful. Service is consistently great every time I visit. They usually have about 5-6 house beers on tap and a few rotating Colorado guest beers. Personally, I'm here for the Walters brews--I don't really bother with the others (no disrespect). If you're in town and want a laid-back, welcoming place with solid beer and good people, this spot should be on your list. read more

Very cool, low-key brewery/bar with an interesting history as one of Colorado's early breweries. Go now to drink their Russian Imperial Stout (9.5%) that could be a future medal winner at the GABF! Went here on 4/30/2023. Off the beaten path. Good size patio. Very big inside. Bartenders were very friendly. Looks like they package a few of their beers. We were only there to get some beer to go. Since then we have tried the ones we got. The orange lager, Pilsner, chili beer and amber. All of them were very solid beers. Are very drinkable. Definitely want to go back and try more they don't package. Cheers! read more

This place is off the beaten path but well worth the visit. I tried the blood orange and chili beer and ended up buying a couple 6 packs to go. The staff was the most attentive and friendly I've ever met. Learned a ton about the history of the brewery and was handed a couple trial sizes without asking. The outdoor area has a neat view of the railroad tracks and got to see a train come through while we were there. They were hosting a high school reunion while we were there and they still had plenty of space for others. Tons of dogs in back and the staff kept asking if they needed any water. A must see if you're in Pueblo. read more

Great place to hang out with friends to have a beer or a made to order seltzer. Beers are great.... a personal favorite is the chili beer... yum!! There are several flavor combinations of seltzer's to pick from . I like the raspberry peach. A nice switch up from beer if you want something lighter. Great outdoor space to relax and play a game or two. There are rotating food trucks each day and all of them have been ones I can't wait to eat at again. Great luck due to very little planning on my part to end up in a hotel near Walter's Brewery & Taproom. The best part of my visit was the staff and owners; genuinely kind dedicated people. The beer was much better than what I get at my "home base," and everything I had was well made and very satisfying. The Chili beers were among the best I've ever had and the Michelada chili beer was outstanding!! However, I went back for an IPA which was most enjoyable to complete the evening. Finally, the Pizza food truck was reminiscent of my FCO layovers; simply delicious on par with Italy.... Arrivederci! read more

Usually come here 1-3 times a month for the last 4 years. Came in today and when I took out my 3 loyalty cards the lady said, "I have to confiscate these." She pulled them from my hand and didn't even look to see if I'd earned a free beer. Said they're going to an online loyalty program but it isn't up yet because they are waiting for all the loyalty cards to be confiscated. She said they have 30 out still. My daughter who lives in New Zealand has two at her house there. Guess Walter's will have to delay the loyalty program. Also been trying to find out when the Walter's Chili beer will be available. Initially told beginning of late spring, then sometime in June, mostly recently mid July. Isn't available today and can't get a straight answer what's going on. Also asked about merchandise and was given a weird answer. Sorry to say I think something sad is going on can't get a straight answer from anyone. It's disappointing my favorite place in Pueblo is an enigma, and the customer service behind the bar is dismal. read more

Ok so I didn't try any of their beers but I loved how friendly these people are!! We came here when On The Hook food truck was in town. The older gentleman at the bar was super nice, knowledgeable and very patient with our large group and undecidedness. The hard seltzers are very interesting!! We tasted a few, even combined a couple of flavors to see if they worked together. Ultimately, I took the lime hard seltzer. My friends got one of the beers on tap. All of the drinks were really good! I ended up buying the seltzer to take home for future partake The ambience of the place is very divey bar like but the outside is very summery and cool. If you are looking for a down to earth, working class tavern this is the place to go. They have games throughout the night and are very reasonably priced. I enjoyed the green chili beer, which is not very spicy but flavorful. The only drawback is that they don't offer a lot of food, except pizza and chips and salsa. What do you do after going to a Brew Fest, go to the closest brewery of course! After day drinking all day, we decided to get some food and more beer... hahaha. Walter's was packed from all the other festival goers who must have had the same idea. To my surprise they don't actually serve food there but do have food trucks there for hungry patrons, so we decided to stay. Being a little difficult to navigate inside from all the people, we headed outside to the patio and found a place to sit. I really enjoyed the Chile beer and the atmosphere of being next to the train tracks. read more

Tom Munch is really a gifted guitar player and a very wide range of good songs played at just the right level. Walter's was a great find tucked back by the train tracks close to downtown Pueblo. They have pizza, beer and offered a food truck the Saturday night we went. The service was great and my family of 5 (kids 11, 8, 7) were taken care of quickly and effectively. They have homemade root beer for the kids and great selections for those over 21. As a Pueblo native (who moved away) I was ecstatic to hear that Walter's was back. It's a cool nostalgic concept that Pueblo should support, IMO. Their flagship Pilsner is crisp and nice. On the day I visited, they had 5 or 6 other intriguing offerings, including a chile beer and a strawberry basil wheat. They have HH Wed thru Fri from 3-6, with baskets of pretzels and fresh popcorn. I've had lots of beer. LOTS OF BEER. I've visited more than one brewery in my day, but never, NEVER had I had a better experience at a brewery than what I got to experience at Walter's. First of all, the beer is excellent. EXCELLENT! Like, what you expect angels to make. The tears of a god were put into the Blood Orange Lager. And the Pueblo Red Chile Lime?!?!? OMG. Just, sit down and enjoy. To be honest, those 2 were all I had there, and frankly, that's all I wanted. A friend and I were going to tour some breweries up north, but nah, dawg. We'll just sit right there and absolutely enjoy ourselves. The service is exemplary and the price is absolutely right. See you there! read more

It was Friday. I am a teacher. It is almost the end of the year. My students were being unreasonably naughty on this Friday. Thus, happy hour and a beer flight were clearly in order. When I came in a few weeks ago, the bar was "packed" with almost 5 people sitting around it - the setup is sort of wonky as it is a taproom in the midst of a working brewery. The bartender, Zac, was very helpful and set me up with a flight of all six of their beers. The Steel City was solid and I really enjoyed the Bock too; both were great sipping beers and the flight was a great opportunity to try them! I'd had Walter's beer before at the Bruja Brewfest and I remember it being decent, if unremarkable - a solid 3 stars. The taproom experience and local business aspect bump it up to a 4. POLITICAL VIEWS, BEWARE: I think that this was an excellent use of the PEDCO tax for business development and look forward to what is to come for Walter's. On an unrelated note, word on the street is that they are operating some sort of skeevy backroom sort of payroll here; all of their bartenders are apparently "independent contractors" instead of employees. Though I'm no employment law expert, I have worked in many bars and restaurants (including two breweries and a taproom) and can confirm that this is NOT a commonplace practice, which seems rife with risk for the individual employees, especially looking at the tax aspect and worker's compensation. Just some food for thought - not sure how the owners pulled this one off, as I've never heard of a barkeep being an "independent contractor" before... read more

We had visited Walter's when it first opened. At that time it was very spartan and uncomfortable. We returned both Friday and Saturday evenings July 6 & 7. The transformation was miraculous! It has been remodeled into a classy and attractive venue on a par with any available in our region. They have installed a pleasant patio on the back which allows one to watch the trains passing in the adjoining rail yard (much more interesting than city traffic). The house brews are enjoyable and reasonably priced. Their guest beer selection is not wide, but it is quality. Food is available most evenings from food trucks which park beside the brewpub on a rotating basis and provide satisfying and reasonable food. Walter's is definitely worth a try. It has become our go-to bar in Pueblo. read more

A classic old beer from Pueblo that has been brought back after a long time. The chili beer is the best chili beer I have in all of my past experiences. Only one other came close. Beers are great, the bock is outstanding. The place has a Midwest feel. Taproom manager, Andy B., is doing a great job in this establishment. Knowing the staff at Walter's, I had read the review regarding a previous post as to how the bartenders are paid and the one mentioned in that post actually is not a private contractor, but an employee and paid hourly. Just wanted to clear that up to help get facts out versus the rumor mill. This place is fantastic. Low-key, eclectic tasting area with typically 4-6 beers on tap. The beer is superb - a number of varieties have won regional awards. Their current green chili beer is the best I've ever tried - smooth, flavorful, and with just the right hint of heat. And I also highly recommend their "flagship" pre-prohibition era recipe ale. Bartender Andy was very engaging and knowledgeable. The owners even dropped by and offered to give us a tour of the brewing area (very impressive, high tech set up). It was clear that everyone working at Walter's is passionate about their craft. There are a growing number of small breweries in this area, and Walter's is among the best. A must visit if you are in Pueblo and well worth a trip from Colorado Springs. read more
