Came here after church to celebrate my nephews first communion. Being on a Sunday I figured it would be busy and I was right. Our server had a lot of people and she seemed frazzled. When drinks and food came out it was a guessing game. I ordered a bbq brisket sandwich that came with coleslaw and I was not a fan. There was more coleslaw than brisket and the brisket that was on the sandwich was fat. It looks like it was slapped together in a hurry, it was busy, but it left a sour taste and not looking to go back anytime soon. If I do it won't be a weekend. read more

My steak was one of the most delicious I have had in ages! My husband had the chicken and thought it was delicious as well. We sat at the bar and our service was very friendly, fast and efficient. We wanted to sit outside by the lake, but it was reserved for a private party. I did take pictures though. The ambiance inside is very nice albeit on the rustic side as it is a Pub. The ambience of Walt's was both classy and unique. We showed up on a Friday night at 7pm with no reservation and they got us right in. We ordered off of the "after 5pm menu" for about $19 a person and got the honey garlic fried chicken. It was perfectly crispy yet tender and had an AMAZING flavor. This meal also came with dinner bread and your choice of soup or salad. Then.... the entree came with 2 sides and the portions were giant! Made a quick lunch stop here, it was my first time at this place, didn't know WL had a restaurant with a nice pond view! Had salmon pasta salad with poppy seed dressing, I wish I ordered a couple more dressings on the side to see what went well with it, the server was nice as she told me a lot of people do the raspberry vinaigrette dressing with this type of salad, but I was not in a mood for a fruity dressing! I like the large seating areas here and variety of settings. From pub table at the bar to four top near the fireplace, to secondary bar or outdoor patio, a seating option for every size group. I've never had a bad meal here and the servers are helpful. The staff and chef are accommodating with event set up, such as graduation reception or staff appreciation lunch. read more

My girlfriend and I visited this location tonight and met with some friends. We'd just eaten at the new Brownsburg location and found it underwhelming. Check out my review of that Walt's on my profile. My first impressions of the building is that the exterior looks like a modernist non-denominational church. There weren't really any immediately apparent signs for the restaurant outside. Inside, it's very nice looking. Very dim and warm feeling. The bar looks impressive. Once seated, our waitress was a little gruff but very nice and attentive despite having a large birthday party table to attend to. It was very loud. She was more than patient with her unable to hear us and vice versa. The menu is decently big with lots of variety. I ordered their "steak of the day" 10oz with fries and broccoli. My girlfriend ordered their tenderloin with fries. Her tenderloin was huge and looked nice with a shiny brioche bun and lots of lettuce tomato and onions. She let me have a bite of the tenderloin itself right after it was delivered to the table and it was pretty good despite not being hot. Her fries were also not hot. My steak came out after everyone else's food. The steak was ordered medium and was delivered medium well. It was dry and chewy with not much seasoning. My broccoli was not hot. It was supposed to be seasoned but didn't taste like it. I also encountered a couple of cooked rice grains and beans. Not sure if that was from something else that happened upon my plate or my broccoli was supposed to have rice and beans in it. Either way a bit unnerving. My fries were piping hot. Definitely disappointed in my meal. I was tempted to send it back but we were with people and on a little bit of a time crunch so I didn't. My gf liked her food. She really enjoyed her sandwich. This local restaurant is located north of purdue campus in kind of a remote field off by itself. The building is a nice size and seats quite a bit of people. The lighting is dim in the dining area and is a bit loud so would not recommend if you are looking for a quiet dinner. I have been here a few times and each time the service has been below average. On one occasion it was almost 90 mins before food came out after ordering. We had four kids with us and it was very stressful with us ending up having to ask for crackers or bread to hold them over. The food itself has always been good and the portions are generous. The most recent visit, I got steamed vegetables for a side which turned out to be just broccoli and it was undercooked. I'd say the prices are average to just higher than average. We still return to eat occasionally but I would not consider us to be regulars here. We do know other folks that regularly dine at least a few times per month. Weekends there may be a bit of a wait for a table and typically is a popular place to go when there are high school formals or sporting events in the area so keep that in mind. read more

Everything was great from the service to the food to the prices! Waiter was very attentive. Kids eat free on Tuesdays! Chile con queso app was a huge portion. Chicken Quesa Tacos were excellent. I ordered the carry out mushrooms at 6:17 on 9/24. I first picked 6:45 pickup but when I checked out it gave me an error, and I had to go back and replace the order and choose a later time. I picked 7:00 pm. I got there right at 7 pm and was told they were finishing my order. I asked another waitress at 7:10 and was told the same thing. I said it seemed like a long wait for a carryout order. I asked her "If I were dining in, would it take an hour for an appetizer?" Her answer was "I don't know what to tell you". I know what I wanted to tell her but kept it to myself. I don't know her name but she had tattoos on her arms and her chest. Sort of short and chubby. Very rude in my opinion. The place was busy but not overly so. When I got the order, they had just come out of the fryer as they were too hot too eat. I'm guessing they didn't even start the order until about 7:00 or later as it can't take that long to fry mushrooms. I think an hour is way to long for an appetizer carry out order. read more

We've eaten at Walt's several times to try to get a feel for their different menu offerings, and things are still mixed. I thoroughly enjoyed their "famous" Union street pub chicken wrap as it was easily one of the best wraps I've ever had. Their Steak wrap was a bit of another story. It was over-filled and very greasy and couldn't be handheld. The flavor was very good, but it was very messy and the tortilla was falling apart underneath as it was a sorry victim of grease and gravity. Their fries seem to be getting worse. They are consistently soggy, cardboard-flavored and barely lukewarm. It almost seems like they fry them all at Lunch time and leave them in the bin for the rest of the day, dunking them back in the fryer periodically during the day. --bleh! Is the most appropriate phrase to describe them. I would recommend staying clear of them. The service here, has been consistently great. Maybe their food will improve in time. read more

So much potential, but somehow always misses the mark. The menu is unimaginative. The "Smash burger" isn't smashed - it's two thin, probably frozen patties. If you know, you know. Scrambled eggs with cheese came out cold, without cheese and looked more like an omelette without anything. A salad arrived 10 minutes after our other lukewarm orders. This place badly needs someone who knows how to run a restaurant and someone who knows how to run a kitchen. Until it does, it will only be sadly mediocre. read more

Extremely loud in the side room. Had to speak loudly to be heard by those across the table. The teriyaki bowl was described as good. The grilled flatbread's crust was a bit puffy to be a flatbread but it was loaded with toppings. Three of us got the Mac and cheese, which appeared to be pasta with some flavorless cheese sauce poured on top. It sat long enough that all the cheese sauce was in the bottom and plain pasta on top. We asked for and we're given bowls of more cheese sauce to put on top. With the addition of a side of "pub sauce" poured in top, it became tastier. read more

Meh. Nothing stands out about this place. Newly built, but zero ambiance. It wasn't crowded yet they sat me right in front of the waiter's computer so they're walking around me the entire time. (Seating should never be in front of the wait staff's computer anyways). Even so, looking around, I didn't see an area in the place that looked like a cozy spot to sit. For a newly built restaurant, they should have done more for their ambiance. Food is average. Reading the menu, it sounds great, but in reality it's nothing special. Nothing terrible, but nothing great either. I've eaten here twice and can't say I'd bother to return again. read more

Our son wanted to come here for dinner tonight following his visit here last Sunday with a campus group. Since it's Families Weekend at Purdue, we made a reservation, and with that we were seated promptly upon arriving. Our waitress was attentive and helpful as we made decisions. The meatball appetizer special was delicious; the sauce was excellent. Our son had the honey garlic fried chicken and recommended it. My husband ordered the smash burger, and it was excellent. I had the crusher sandwich with sides of broccoli and Mac and cheese, and it was all very good. The restaurant was very busy, but we never felt forgotten or overlooked. Please, dear management, please invest in sound absorption panels. And let me tell you, there's no reason to play music. It makes it worse. It's virtually impossible to carry on a conversation in your restaurant without yelling. You've got wooden walls, windows and wooden floors. No carpet, no curtains, nothing to absorb sound. The burger was much bigger than I planned. I'm sure my leftovers will be soggier than I'd like. It was pretty good. Chili wasn't as flavorful as I hoped, still edible. The southwest egg rolls was my favorite part of the meal. 5 stars just for the egg rolls itself. So many things on the menu that sounded good. Have been here twice in one week! Came once after work with a group of colleagues and had the best time! Southwestern egg rolls chicken wings and nachos were toooooo much food! So delish! The beer specials were great too for $3 a glass! Such a deal! Service needs some improvement but if you're with a group of people it's ok! Parking is ample and the outdoor space is great too! Two huge bar areas as well. Decor is quite modern and new. Luckily bathrooms were kept up and nice. I am going to keep on coming back! read more

This place is so nice! Beautiful building, beautiful interior, tons of space. The service we had was really good but it was kind of slow. I think they are understaffed. I ordered the only "vegan" item on the menu- which is listed as a vegan burger- but they don't have a vegan bun! I also ordered a mule- my first time trying one and I loved it. They have an amazing bar- a great place to stop in and grab a drink for sure. I would definitely recommend this place if you've got time. read more

I really like the building and decor. It's spacious and clean. I like the fireplace and the touch of wood smoke smell. If you have a function or large party they have several spaces to choose from. One room has its own bar as well as a nice view of the outside and deck. The basement is probably the largest space and it also has its own bar. The foods I've had here so far have been about average. Not bad but i've not had anything yet to get excited about. Pricing is also about average to a touch on the high side for similar fare elsewhere. Today at lunch I tried their Baha salad with chicken: greens with rice, chicken, teriyaki sauce, corn salsa and a fried egg and half of an avocado on top. It wasn't bad but it just seemed like a fusion dish that was confused. I wouldn't get it again. I will visit again and try other options. read more

So, over the past six or seven years, I have been to Walt's for business lunches, family lunches/dinners and with small groups. It is definitely hit or miss. I've had some terrible (and some good) experiences with food and some terrible (and some good) experiences with service. Most recently, we had an excellent server but the kitchen side was a disaster and the food was disappointing. A reservation was made a couple weeks in advance for a group of ten. We were running ahead of schedule (about 30 min) so I called and the table was ready. Ordering of drinks and food went smoothly. And then the trouble began. About 50 minutes later, 5 people received their meals and mine was one of them - it was tepid and the vegetable cooked to mush. Approximately 20 min later, four members of our party received their meals. Then, about 15 min later, the last member of our party received his entree. The facility is beautiful I just wish they could get their act together with consistent service, consistent quality of food, and a properly run kitchen. I'd pass on dining here during peak hours (prime lunch and dinner times and especially on weekends). For an early or late lunch or week night dinner, you are probably safe. read more
