What an absolute hidden gem. It's a little hard to catch them during their limited business hours but when you make it, it's so worth it. Everything is donation based and the food is just phenomenal. With such a wholesome staff, i left feeling like I should hug everyone there. The food was better than my grandmas.. just don't tell my grandma.

Clam chowder soup. Creamy and delicious.

Lafayette's best-kept lunch secret. This place offers an incredible deal for lunch. The soup, salad and sandwich sample is hearty, filling and delicious for only $9. Service is always friendly. Atmosphere is quaint and historic. Only open Fridays and Saturdays at lunch.

What a true treasure! The atmosphere is amazing. This is a place I would love to take out of town visitors. The owner is so generous, kind and does wonderful things for the community. The eatery is colonial and totally charming. The portions are ridiculously generous and the food is so comforting. Prices are really cheap, but the food is not. Try this place for lunch! Be aware of the limited hours.

A real hidden gem. Some of the tastiest food I've had in Lafayette. Great vibe and totally different from our standard sorts of places. We'll be back for sure.

We were celebrating our anniversary so it was a special night for us. Our waitress was super but stretched thin so she wasn't as attentive as she probably was on another night. This is a very upscale place. Decor and service reflect that. Good old fashioned steakhouse vibe. Oysters Rockafeller were perfect. Bread was fresh and absolutely delicious. He had American Wagyu Ribeye. I had Steak Oscar. Both were cooked appropriately. Maybe slightly under seasoned as we both added salt which is not typical for us. The Old Fashioned was really good and they had a wide selection of wine/beer and a handful of specialty cocktails. Our 2nd round of drinks was comped due to slow service at the bar and dessert was on the house for our anniversary which we really appreciated. We will definitely go back and try other things on the menu. Our steaks were good but I wouldn't say they were worth the price. $110 for his and $80ish for my Oscar. It was a filet with truffled hollandaise sauce and a scant amount of King Crab. They no longer serve King Crab due to the cost. Strange. If we would pay $110 for a steak why wouldn't we pay for King Crab due but that was a minor detail. I wouldn't say have preferred more crab...give me snow crab. The dessert was delightful. Baked Alaska served table side with plenty of rum. Thank you for making us feel valued and special!

It's been five and a half years since my last review, so I thought that an update is in order,…read moreparticularly since a few irritating things on recent visits cause me to lower the rating. The quality of the food remains high. The Americana burger that I spoke of in my previous review seems not to be on the menu any more, but several other burgers are, and they are quite good. My current favorite item, however, is the pork chop, which is huge (I get three meals out of it) and delicious. My wife continues to get her go-to item, the lobster mac and cheese, and speaks highly of it every time. (Not surprisingly, though, it has gone up in price since my previous review; it now costs $24.70 instead of $19. The pork chop is the same price.) The one menu item I tend to avoid is the french fries, which aren't as good as you would think they would be in a place like this. Now, about those irritating things. About a month ago my wife and I stopped by here in the late afternoon, about a quarter to five, and she of course ordered the lobster mac. The price on the lunch menu was the same as on the dinner menu, and so was (I think) the portion size, but at lunch you don't get a complimentary salad with your meal. Since we were about fifteen minutes away from the dinner-menu turnover (or so we were told; there was nothing in writing to alert the customer to this), you would have thought the restaurant would, in the name of good customer relations, have thrown in the stupid salad, but no, rules are rules. Then yesterday my wife and I ordered takeout. I placed the order on Red 7's website at around 2:30 PM. At this time, of course, the only menu showing online was the lunch menu. But when I indicated that I would like a 4:30 PM pickup, a dinner menu appeared. Not unreasonably, I took this as a sign that they were now offering the dinner menu at 4:30. I ordered my pork chop and my wife's lobster mac from the dinner menu, and the restaurant accepted my order and sent me a confirmation email. Then, about 4:15 PM, after my wife and I were already on the road to pick up the food (we live in West Lafayette, the restaurant is in Lafayette, about a 20 minute drive away), I got a phone call from the restaurant saying that the pork chop was only available at dinner and would not be ready until "around 5". So we had to turn around, drive home, and then leave again about 20 minutes later. I have no idea why Red 7 couldn't state explicitly when the dinner menu took effect, why they made the menu available and accepted my order when I placed it if it would not be in effect at the time of pickup, and why the restaurant felt the need to wait until fifteen minutes before I was supposed to pick up the food before telling me it wasn't going to be ready. Forwarned is forearmed, I suppose, and from now on, despite what the computer says, I won't be ordering dinner for any time earlier than 5 PM. But these annoying things are precisely the kind of thing that can detract from an otherwise good meal and leave the customer with a (no pun intended) bad taste in his mouth.

For $18 I was able to eat 3 meals because the portion was very nice. I would suggest subbing the spinach for the brussel sprouts. But I wandered into Sixth Street Dive and--don't tell Bloomington--they actually won me over. The burgers are the size of a freshman textbook and taste a whole lot better. Wings? Spicy enough to make me forget I was surrounded by black and gold. And the beer is so cold I almost forgave the guy at the bar for wearing a Purdue hoodie (almost). The vibe is pure dive-bar magic: pool tables, live music, no pretension. Nobody cares if you're a Hoosier, a Boiler, or just a random traveler who took the wrong exit off I-65. By the end of the night, I was laughing, full, and--dare I say it--having a great time in Lafayette. Sixth Street Dive: proof that even behind enemy lines, a Hoosier can still find happiness... as long as the beer's this cold.

The space looks great, it's clean, and the staff is genuinely friendly. Service was very fast, even with multiple large groups in the room. Noise was completely reasonable. If anything, it may feel "a little loud" to someone whose baseline is the quieter side of the Lafayette-area dining scene, but compared to bigger-city restaurants it was fully fine and well within what I'd expect. Overall, The Bryant would fit right in in a market like Oklahoma City, Dallas, New York, or Pittsburgh and wouldn't feel out of place at all. Highly recommended.

I thought I was underdressed, but the dress code seems pretty casual. Water was served in a cold milk bottle. I could not decide what to order; everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious. The menu described the items well, and when I asked the wait staff for their preference or any recommendations, she told me five different favorite items that are often ordered, which was nice, but was not what I asked. I finally decided on the strawberry-and-brie cheeseburger. I ordered it medium well with fries. I was really disappointed in the French fries; they tasted old and cold, and when I cut into the hamburger, it was bloody. I sent the burger back, and this time they brought it out well done. The staff argued that it was medium well, with blood coming out of it. And before anybody thinks I'm confusing the strawberry jam on the burger with bloody pink meat, please see the picture. Upon receiving the new burger, which was cooked well done, I found it to be very good. It was tasty and juicy. As I was finishing my meal, a young family came in, and their child was making a lot of noise. A gentleman told them that if the child did not calm down, they would have to go outside. When the family tried to speak with the gentleman further, he continued walking away and did not stop to answer questions. I was not sitting close to this table, and yet I heard the gentleman talking to the young couple. Had I not already received my food and been getting ready to leave, I would have gotten up and gone with the couple in support. I understand setting standards, especially when the restaurant is bustling, but at this point, as a server, I could only observe two other tables in the entire restaurant, and one of them was preparing to leave. If I ever returned to this area, this restaurant would not be one I would return to.
