This is my favorite place to work out. It has kid care, a pool, and is family oriented. If you are in building it is absolutely fantastic with great customer service. However, getting them on the phone for select services can be painful. Youth sports is good except the whole contact thing applied there as well. Good place, bad communication. If you're trying to ball, don't do it here. Their basketball court (yes, the whole thing) is reserved for whatever stupid activity they have planned out that day - every single day. Out of fifteen times I've gone, I've gotten to use their court maybe twice. I wouldn't be so irritated if there wasn't two other empty rooms which are never utilized, or if the activities that prevent people from engaging in physical activity (isn't that why we pay them a fee anyway?) weren't stuff like an Easter egg hunt, a birthday breakfast, and other dumb stuff. The staff also seems pretty immature, especially their closers. None of them seem to know what's going on at all. Some of the equipment is worn down as well. The one thing I do like is their day care but even that's pretty limited. Their day care staff is on point. read more

Everyone complaining about the bball courts dumb. Just go when kids are in school and the equipment is Good not great and Definitely not worn down or dirty. To the people complaining about activities or child sports stfu unless you the one coordinating cause it's stressful and demanding. read more

Do not put your kids in sports through this YMCA!! They don't tell you all the details and they don't know the answers to your questions. I put my son in flag football through this YMCA. The girl that did the registration was so distracted while entering in my information on the computer. She was looking around and listening to other peoples conversations. What seemed like a 5 minute process ended up being 30 minutes! I asked her when the first practice was and she had to go ask. I was told that the coaches had a meeting the following day so If I didn't get a call to call back by Thursday no call so Thursday I called. The girl I spoke with told me the exact same thing she said they were having a meeting on Sunday and if I don't get a call then to call Monday morning. Monday starts the first week of practice, I have no idea where it was gonna be, what I needed to get and especially what day it will be on! I call Monday morning they still don't know!? The lady I spoke with said she was going to email the sports director. I finally got a call from him about 3 hours later I felt relieved well atleast I thought so at the time! So practice starts Wednesday. Luckily I get to the park 30 minutes early I have no idea where to go I was driving back and fourth for 15 minutes through the park. Then I'm told to go stand on the other side of where I was I had to walk through grass that was almost up to my waist and then come to find out the hard way it was all mud and water everywhere! So I get where Im told to go eventually other parents and kids show up. Now it's about 30 min after practice is supposed to start there's nobody there but us parents and our kids. Eventually someone comes with a Clio board to tell us we don't have a coach and if no parents volunteer to be one then our kids can't play! There's about 5 kids on the team and 4 mothers and one dad that know nothing about football! I wanted to March down to the YMCA and demand my money back. But my son was so excited to play his first sport! The one man stood up and said he was willing if we are all willing to help coach. It's still a nightmare at this point. Everyone is getting emails but me I'm not in the loop at all because the distracted girl didn't put my email in the system. I called and they said they would put my email in but I haven't got anything from them so I'm assuming they didn't do it! Save yourself the money and hassle. Pay the extra for other sports teams out there because this definitely isn't the place to go. It's all a bunch of false hope for you and your kids! read more

Avoid the kids sports program like the plague! We signed our son up for TBall 6 weeks before season start. Received ZERO communication. Supplies, uniforms needed, dates/times/locations? Nope. Finally, 2 days before due to start, I walked in and asked for info. Received info for Open House/Coach Meet-n-Greet for 48 hours later. Went to meet n greet. No coach. No uniforms. No staff member to be found for info. Showed up at the supposed location (LBJ Park). No signs or staff to direct where to go. Drive around for 15 min and had to call YMCA 3x to get info. Finally got there. Only to find NO ONE knew where our coach was. They never showed, so my son never got to play. Still had no uniform. The following week I went to the YMCA and demanded to speak to the sports Director. Ashley was there, spoke to her. She was very rushed and obviously overwhelmed. Got info for our supposed next game. New coach, and should have uniforms. Showed up game day. New coach was there, but Ashley had not ordered our uniforms. Our rag-tag team has 4 players, while all other teams have 10-12. Finally received uniforms week 3. Our schedule seems to change every week. Ashley never knows what is going on, even though she is the Director. The facility is DISGUSTING. The restrooms have a single stall. For 300+ people. The women's room has no working lights, and the ONE toilet has been broken for 3 weeks. The whole place smells like urine. There are holes all over the ground, fire ants everywhere, and a nasty ditch that holds runoff and garbage, which breeds Mosquitos and other nasty creatures. All-in-all, a horrible experience. We will NOT be returning. Stick to i9Sports; it may be more expensive, but their facilities are immaculate, uniforms always ready, and everything well-organized. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's clean and pretty large inside. Everything you'd want in a gym - lots of machines with TVs, rooms for classes, places to corral the kids, and locker rooms. The pool is pretty small, but they do have water aerobics and water fit classes. My favorite part of the Y is getting a trainer for free, and using their training program. It's pretty nifty - you sign up and put in all your details, and it tells you what to do every day at the gym. Easy. Perfect. They even have a kiosk where you can print out your workout and it tells you which machines to use. read more

Very clean, wonderful customer service, not too impressed with the classes as there classes have slim selection, but overall this gym provides you with a pleasant experience. You are always greeted when you come in and when you leave. This is my go to gym when I do not want to drive to the other YMCA locations. read more

For me, the Walzem Family YMCA, is great!! The instructors and staff are great. I am there five days a week for exercise classes plus bike, and weight machines. The staff is always available to help with questions about correct way to use weight machines, or the new bikes. Have met some great people!! read more

Terrible experience everytime I've had to call or speak to anyone here. Signed up for a gym membership and signed my daughter up for baseball. So unorganized and unprofessional. Sports directors keep quitting or getting fired, yet they are still being replaced with completely incompetent people! My daughter's season started off with a supposed meet and greet but we go and its just people giving them their shirts and they say coach will be calling you soon for the practice schedule. That's a meet and greet??? Then coach never callas forcing me to go thru the Y. Took me 9 days from my first call to find out there was already a practice and a game missed. It's so frustrating when they promise to call you back regarding play schedules or anything but they never do. I had enough and asked to speak with the manager of the facilities, they told me she was "out" but took my info and "promised" yet again they would have her call me. Never happened. Tried to stick with it for my daughter's sake but it was terrible, LBJ where they play games was terrible too. Games got rained out and the Y said they'd schedule make ups but it never happened. Still in the process of trying to get a refund, it's going on 4 weeks. First they said 5 business days, still wasnt ready, called and were told they would expedite it for us, now another week later they say the form was misplaced. Really?!? Neverending crappy customer service. I am appalled at how poorly this place is managed. As far as the gym goes, it smells to me, small workout area with all the machines super scrunched together, tiny pool which you cannot swim laps in. I kept my membership so I can go the the Schertz gym which is total opposite of this place. read more

Horrible DO NOT sign your kids up for sports here it'll be a royal waste of time. These people lack any and all types of communication with the parents. Sure they may sound nice but seems like all workers here including Jordon the director have NO CLUE what's going on. For 3 weeks I've been having to go in hearsay as I have yet to be called or emailed about ANYTHING from them. I have called just about everyday and have spoken to probably every member of the staff and am always given different information or am told that they are waiting on confirmation (meaning "THEY DON'T KNOW") NEVER will I register my child to this location again. Then since they didn't order enough Jersey's they are given sizes for 15-16 year old so my 10yr daughter is wearing an adult XL . I can even begin to explain how annoyed and upset I am at this experience. This establishment lacks EVERYTHING all other YMCA's have. read more
