I alternate between getting the deluxe salted caramel and the deluxe peanut butter cup cookie. The workers have always been friendly and service is very quick because the cookies are all premade. The only downside is the price is pretty high, it's about $5 per cookie if you get a deluxe. You can get the smaller regular cookies which are about $2 but I'm not as impressed with the flavor options for those. The store is very small, probably the smallest store I've ever been in, so it can get crowded fast. It's more of a grab and go than a sit down place. But if you want a really good cookie fast this is the place to go. They also have ice cream and other desserts that I haven't tried because I love the cookies so much.

You open the door and take a side step to get in line but really not a lot of room for more than 2-3 people at a time. Other than that it was a cute location and seemed pretty clean. The service was quick. I got four cookies. Double chocolate, (which was my favorite and worth the trip) snickerdoodle, sugar cookie and a brownie. They were all good but I would probably only go back for the double chocolate cookie. I am interested in trying a different location but if you are near the UofM, and in the mood for a sweet treat, it's worth a stop.

It is the breakfast-diner equivalent of a crowded subway train at rush hour. This place is basically a counter with about a dozen stools, and they serve breakfast staples every morning. There is no room behind the stools, and yet because people think this is a fun experience they wait in a line behind the stools. They sometimes move the stool people to different stools mid-meal to strategically fill stools with the stool-waitbehinders. It is a challenging experience. The food is not good enough to make up for the effort it takes to be here. In the past I've gotten normal, acceptable eggs/bacon meals. This time I got Eggs Benedict with nice, tart sauce. The eggs were a bit overdone, which is fine if you're not someone who likes a runny yolk situation. I also got hash browns which, on their own, tasted like they were steamed in bilge water. Most people probably put lots of ketchup or hot sauce on them. But you're kind of there for the experience. And it is an experience of cramming yourself in with hipsters and tolerating surly cooks who urgently shout to each other - right next to you - about needed ingredients while occasionally shaming you for not waiting in line correctly. The ambiance is not the slightest bit boring. If this review doesn't scare you away you will probably love it.

I miss the crusty humor of Doug but believe Allison has done a great job (I was actually there on her first day of work!) of keeping the true spirit of Al's alive. Introduction to Ayurveda is more than just a cooking class, but an invitation to think about your…read morerelationship with food and eating. Most cooking classes start with some small talk about the menu, maybe a glass (or two) of wine - Nalini starts with a 15-minute guided meditation that culminates (warning: spoiler alert) with a small food offering that makes you keenly aware you are what you eat. She then discusses Ayurveda and the principal of eating foods balanced to your body (kind of sort of makes sense, but I'm still thinking how much I love bacon). Then the kicker - it's not just how you feel about taste, but also how you feel afterward (needless to say, I could still feel the delicious Prather Ranch corned beef sandwich I had for lunch). The food we cooked - soup, rice and green beans was simple and delicious. It was fun to learn how to mix and prepare Indian spices. But the real learning is to really think about your food. I'm not at all ready to give up corned beef or bacon all together, but even for a couple meals every week, to think about balance, energy and how you feel afterward. Thanks Nalini, hope to do another class soon!

First of all, the class was held in Nalini's apartment, which is beautiful. Right off the bat, you can tell Nalini is incredibly knowledgeable. She is also kind, warm, and respectful. I learned a lot about Ayurvedic principles and some of the basics of Indian cooking; however, I didn't even get to use my knife! I guess that would be my only criticism; I expected to do more cooking than I actually did, and to learn more about actual cooking techniques. I think maybe the class size was too large, as I felt there were "too many cooks in the kitchen." Otherwise, it was a wonderfully positive experience. The end result of our labors was delicious! I can't wait to go buy up some spices and try the recipes for myself. I'm definitely interested in some more classes with Nalini, (especially her Dosa making class) as well as one of her culinary tours to India.
