He kindly met us on site and checked out the location months ahead of time and left us a binder of popular song selections to work with, FOR EVERY PART of the wedding ceremony you can think of (and he helped us to set our wedding timeline!) I requested a special Chinese song to dance with my mom. It's not even on YouTube and Marshall somehow found it!!! He was the first vendor who contacted us and reminded us of the day, and we had a conference call for 2 hours (on Fathers' Day weekend!) to finalize the music details! We planned to have an outdoor ceremony but then it rained and stormed so we had to move everything indoor. Marshall had it set up both ways professionally and directed the whole wedding smoothly. The whole city of Frankfort, KY blacked out for a few minutes RIGHT BEFORE I walked down the aisle and Marshall picked up what we'd left off and recovered everything as soon as the electricity went back on! He played so many great songs during the reception that our guests were amazed by what a fun-filled wedding we had! Marshall Yancey is a true friend, and the best DJ you can ever ask for on your special days. He offers the DJ service you can rely on; he is experienced, professional, patient, well-equipped, thorough, punctual ... His strength lies in relaying countless anecdotes that may or may not pertain to his clients. 2. We came to our meeting requesting a specific era in music, and he said he needed exact songs. After we did so, he proceeded to spend over and hour, along with his close colleague, ridiculing our music choice, and requesting that we dance in front of him to prove that in fact our music is danceable. We had no choice to switch our companies at that point, as our wedding was 2 days away! Needless to say, after we gave up and just requested 7 of our 20 songs as "must plays," our wedding guests spent the night requesting almost verbatim the songs that we had originally put on our list (without prompting from us). 3. If you are not a traditional couple, I highly suggest not using Yancey Entertainment. After we referred to our wedding as a wedding (since we do come from a state that recognizes gay marriage), Yancey on numerous occasions referred to it as a commitment ceremony. The kicker was when at the end of the night, we were given cds of our playlists labeled with our names and commitment ceremony on the cover. Marshall's company is best suited for straight couples, trying to entertain conservative multi-generational crowds, with a preference for top 40s hits! If you don't fit into these categories, don't bother.

With that being said, they really dropped the ball on the "attention to detail" that they also pride themselves on. We're going through our cards, post wedding, seeing what everyone has to say and just reminiscing on all the fun we've had with each individual writing us said cards. Then we roll across a card from good old PartyZone - we think "aw that's nice". And then we open it... "she said I do, then he said I do".... Now it is no secret that Sarah and I are obviously two women who participate in a same sex relationship and just got married... as two women. And here's this card that is just distasteful to open up post wedding day after reading all of the sweet stuff people have to say. And then we get this bs card that just completely peeved Sarah (more than it peeved me initially). So we decide to just sit on it for a couple of days and plan on calling them Monday to just talk to them about how disappointing it was to receive that card. Surprisingly enough, I didn't make the call but Sarah did because she really felt passionate about this- as do I. She gets on the phone, talks with the main DJ and he is very apologetic (though that does not take away from the problem that has already occurred) and after some time decides to reassure us with the fact that "one of the DJs at our wedding was gay" and that they've got nothing against the community. I also have straight friends for the record. His resolve is that they'll discuss it in a meeting and not make the same mistake next time. Which is all fine and dandy until you ask them if they even HAVE same sex cards or gender neutral cards and the simple answer is no they do not. So, yes, try harder without the appropriate tools. It honestly makes me wonder how many other people have been subtly offended by this but just not said anything. It's 2018 and having a "he said he said" or a "she said she said" or even a "they said" card can't be that hard. Hell, CVS EVEN HAS CARDS FOR SAME SEX. Or if you don't even have the tools to "personalize the experience" just don't even give out a card. Someone at some point should have caught the dang card and said huh.... two chicks are getting married why does this even say "he"?! I want to give them two stars or three... so badly. But I also am very pleased with the things they did do right. And I guess I'm somewhat pleased with the receptiveness of "wanting to talk about the incident" and the apology. I'm still bitter to be honest. They do decent work but I also want people to be aware of the lack of representation even with the number of same-sex weddings he says they have done. As one most often does, I found myself in need of 20 mint julep cups the Sunday before Derby…read more I had come across Events LLC at a wedding show earlier in the year, and I remembered one of their staff members telling me how expansive their warehouse is and how, if you in search of something, they likely have it. So I put this to the test. I called Events earlier the week before, and the lady who answered the phone told me they likely have mint julep cups and she would check. I called back the following day, and much to my delight, they did have real mint julep cups that guests could drink out of. (Some people use mint julep cups for flowers, I now know.) I was sent an invoice. There was a slight change on the price, as the larger cups at $4 each to rent are the cups you drink out of, not the smaller $2 cups I originally chatted with them about. But still, this wasn't a big problem as I was still happy that they even had them at all. I arranged to pick them up the Friday before my event. They were waiting for me, packed up in a box. And then I brought them back the day after my event. The process of turning them in only took a few minutes. I did get to look through their showroom a bit when I visited. I have passed their building so many times on Story Avenue -- it was great to finally get to go in. Especially if you're having a wedding, they have all manner of table settings, from the over-the-top ornate to something a bit more subdued and stately. My wedding is coming up in a couple of months, and I chatted with them a bit about items I'm looking for for centerpieces. They knew what I was describing and said they are looking to buy some soon to add to their collection. The showroom also included large statement pieces and sculptures. I bet their warehouse is a treasure trove of wonders. I'm looking forward to going back and using Events again soon!

And I didn't receive any bills for their medical expenses! ;) Leading up to it, I took up hours and hours and hours of their time picking out exactly what we thought would look good (and they have a really creative team with awesome ideas I would have never thought of). I'm uploading photos because words can't even begin to describe the wonderland they created for us. I would (and I do) recommend Events to anyone planning any kind of party. They have this ginormous warehouse of the craziest (and most gorgeous) stuff for any party. I've also thrown a Halloween and a Circus-themed party with their help, both of which were a huge success. Another reviewer on here (not even from Louisville, incidentally) may have had some hiccups in communication, but I've had nothing but expert help with Events. We used them for our wedding this past October (2018) and had them cater food for our venue and bartend our event. We supplied our alcohol for our event (three full-size kegs, an enormous amount of wine, and about 30 bottles of champagne). They were more than happy to serve our host-sponsored alcohol and also kept a menu of hard liquor for the cash bar portion of our event. They had a menu for our provided beers and wines that guests could view. The number of bartenders was perfect and people were not waiting around for drinks. They even had a bartender or just a person who would grab my wife and I our preferred drinks if they saw our cups were empty or that we were waiting in line. Additionally, for our wedding party and ourselves - we were able to stock the bar with our preferred hard liquor without any issues. They set it aside for us and were more than happy to keep it behind the bar. They treated our guests well and I really enjoyed the bartenders - they had a lot of fun and made sure our guests did the same. For our food, we did a breakfast bar. Pancakes with cinnamon apples, blueberries, and chocolate chips; biscuits and white pepper gravy or assorted jams/jellies, pimento cheese, roasted potatoes, bacon, scrambled eggs, and seasonal fruits. I didn't really eat much at the wedding to be honest BUT I did hear we had like nothing left over and that our guests really enjoyed the food! The tasting we did prior to our wedding was really nice and the food tasted good then (so I could only imagine it tasted the same or better when the wedding occurred). The only downside was that we didn't get any to-go food for us which I was kinda bummed about. My matron of honor was literally following me around on the dance floor and tables feeding me bacon because I hadn't had a chance to eat. The company was even more than happy to set up our coffee and donuts that we had ordered from North Lime as our "cake". They did a pretty solid job. They were easy to work with. Responded quickly. Sat down with us at some of our final venue walk throughs to talk about "our perfect wedding" goals, and even helped us out when we ran into issues. They were more than happy to help us out with the kegs and were polite with our requests on which kegs went first and not to just pop the top on all the wine. Logan was our main point of contact and she was perfect. She was hilarious and easy to reach - let us know when she was around in the days leading up to our wedding and even told us to reach out if we had ANY questions or concerns in those few days before. We like very different types. I'm an indie music and Dixie Chicks fan, the hubs is Bruce Springsteen and Buffet. Not the easiest genres to blend, but she did great! We told her we didn't want any line dances because we aren't fans of those and she honored our wishes. The whole reception she was on her toes and kept things moving beautifully!
