I can't believe it took me so long to write this review!! I used Waraner Tree Experts to remove three very large trees from my backyard last August. At the time I had several tree removal companies come out to my home to first give me advice and then a price on the removal of the trees (2 of them were dying due to turpentine beetle infestation) and also advice and a price to plant three new trees . It was amazing how different in price range all of the bids were. (Some were twice as much as Waraner.) After reviewing all of the bids and reading several reviews on Yelp I chose to use Waraner. Both my husband and I were extremely impressed with the expertise and efficiency of this company. The Waraner crew started early in the morning, cut down all three trees, grinded the stumps, replanted three new trees, and cleaned up all by 3pm. Very impressive!!!! We needed 2 trees removed & grinded & an extremely overgrown Chinese elm trimmed majorly. We got an estimate from Waraner's & Roman's Tree Service. Initially we were going to go with Roman's but so glad we didn't! They couldn't even email an estimate! Waraner's did right away. When we were ready we called them to set up a time to do the job. They called the morning of to let me know the crew were in route & Poncho was the foreman in charge. Dustin gave me the estimate and was right on time, knowledgeable, quick but detailed, professional, and one of the best prices too so I went with them. Day of work the crew arrived on-time and started work right away trimming my large Elm tree. There were a couple of branches they left that seemed odd so I had them trim those off (this would be the -0.5 stars because it would have been missed if I wasn't there) but other than that they did a fine job. We used these guys for a complete overhaul of our new house. We contacted multiple Aborists but of the few that actually called back, these guys really impressed us. They were slightly more expensive than some others but Dustin came out and really knew what he was talking about. He was bang on time both for the appraisal and the actual work that was due to be done. The other guys that came out to give us a quote did not recognize the trees I had correctly and suggested drastic tree cutting techniques that would have caused more issues than anything else. Just had the white alder cleaned out and shaped, this is the 2nd time we've used Waraner's and again happy customers. They also did 2 crepe myrtle tress and the price was right. This white alder is one of the largest in this area we've been told and after our 1st service could not go anywhere else. They also have a bark service and it is excellent, we ordered it on our 1st service and 85% is still on the ground! after leaf blowing for 2 years. Unprofessional and inconsiderate. They came out to do some commercial landscaping in Alameda on a Saturday morning and started sawing and shredding and running their leaf blowers at 7:15am, well before the legal time of 8am and with no thought of residents like myself who were looking forward to maybe sleeping in on a Saturday morning or who may have gotten home from work at 9am. Guess what--they are working, disturbing the peace here but their office in Walnut Creek doesn't open until 8am...isn't that sweet? I'm sure they just wanted to get an early start so they could knock off early on Saturday...I will be cursing them at 1:30am when I am struggling to keep my eyes open at work tonight! Quick response, reasonable estimate, and timely scheduling. We just had several trees trimmed (Bradford pear, Japanese maple, Chines pistache), as well as Ceanothus bushes. They all look great, and we appreciate the Waraner crew's skill at handling various types of trees properly, including one that needed to be cabled. Also helpful with a few "words to the wise" about cultivation, fire control, etc. This the second time Waraner has been here, and we don't expect it to be the last. Update and rating change to 4 stars. Still a fan, but enthusiasm was dampened by an hour picking up small debris. Many small twigs with several leaves were scattered in the yard. Although I'm not sure who would be expected to pick them up, it was a slight disappointment. Also had to prune a few remaining branches. The tree removal team showed up the day they were they were scheduled and removed the 110 foot,150-year-old redwood tree. (A sad day losing my tree) in one long hard-working day team was amazing and very professional left the job perfectly clean with no damage. Dustin is incredibly professional and has been just awesome in working through various issues. They are actually removing the tree today (which is a miracle unto itself). I spoke with this company and tried getting them to come out for a quote. I needed some trimming and possibly a large tree taken down. It took two weeks for them to be able to come out for a quote, finally get a date on the calendar. I confirmed with them the day before and they gave me a time frame of 12:00 - 3:00 which I thought was ridiculous, but whatever. It is now after 3:00 and no show!! Wasted my entire afternoon waiting for them, this is just not acceptable. I would NEVER use this company if they did it for free. A little courtesy goes a long way.
