I usually go to a local eye clinic for exams, but this time I decided to try Warby Parker. Since I've ordered glasses from them online before and always found their home try on super convenient. This year, I figured I'd go into the store to try on frames and get my eye exam done all in one place. I came in on a Sunday around 1:45 PM for my 2:15 appointment. The staff was really welcoming and suggested I browse frames while I waited. Right at 2:15, Dr. Allen Chicote called me in. He was so nice and thorough. He double- and triple-checked my vision to make sure my prescription was perfect for both glasses and contacts. He even showed me pictures of the back of my eye and walked me through what we were looking at and why it's important. After the exam, a staff member (I didn't catch his name, but he was tall, wears glasses, and wore red Air Jordan 1) assisted me with picking out frames. He was super helpful. He informed me that first time contact orders at Warby Parker get 25% off, so I ordered a supply since I wear contacts for work. My glasses and contacts will be shipped straight to my house, which makes everything so convenient. Overall, I had a great experience here. I can always expect Warby Parker to deliver a quality affordable product that's both eye catching and well constructed. I first heard about Warby about 5 years ago when a friend flashed a stunning pair at an event and I started following them online. The next year I went to the Meatpacking District location and I got my first (2) pairs: Caspar in rose' and Tilley in Tortoise shell. I absolutely loved them. After an intense round of Grad school and late night watering papers my vision changed and I had to switch those out. During the pandemic my need shifted again while working from home and Warby was super accommodating getting me set up with a virtual visit and sending out replacement glasses for my scratched lens at no cost. I truly appreciated that. My vision plan allows for about $295 every two years. If it were not for Warby I wouldn't be able to do much with so little. My in store experience with Desire' was exceptional. She was personable, attentive and verse on the product that would best suit my needs. My face is heart shaped with super accentuated cheek bones which I love against my deep set eyes. The virtual try on features on the app allows me to take a quiz, make (5) recommendations and then I can try those on virtually or even have them sent to my home for free. I fell in love with the Micah- which is a part of the new color block collection. I was torn between the green and the navy but opted for the latter as it's my favorite color so it compliments my wardrobe quite well. I also went with a pair of the Chamberlains as a neutral for days when the Micah's clashes with my outfit. While the shipping experience wasn't what I expected now that Warby uses Lasership, they were more than accommodating in resending my package as soon as possible. Overall, I'll always choose Warby. In addition, I'd love to see Warby tackle sustainability and allow for old frames to be recycled or donated. read more

Glasses to me are like shoes for your face. Just like my footwear, I change up my specs often...LOL. I was happy this location opened up, so I don't have to trek down to Cobble Hill. I like going in and trying on specs. I usually try to only buy 2 specs a year but at $95 it's hard to say no. I currently have have 5 pair of specs that I change in and out of. New specs!! Yay! So months ago I had ordered a bunch of pairs to try on from the Warby Parker website. I had narrowed down the frames I was interested in but instead of continuing to order box after box of frames to try I decided to visit my local WP and try them on in store. I visited on a weekday morning a few minutes after they opened. There were three staffers circulating the store and two customers (including myself). I walked up to the counter and was greeted by Avii who was absolutely awesome for my entire visit. She listened to what I had in mind and made her recommendations.... a couple that were frames I had tried on at home and a couple I hadn't thought to try on. Once I narrowed down my frame choice she then walked me through the options of 'medium' 'wide' and 'extra' and offered samples of each. I ended up ordering two pairs based on my in-store experience and they were shipped directly to me. About a month after I received them I popped back into the store to ask if they'd be able to adjust the frames (they were sliding off my face a bit). They took my name, looked up my account and got to fixin'. A few adjustments and about 10 minutes later both pairs were feelin' fine and not sliding! Yay! For the health and safety of the customers - all of the staffers were masked, there were extra masks at the counter for anyone who needed on. Hand sanitizer located around the store. AND *most importantly* one staffer who's sole job was to snatch up any of the frames that were just tried on and clean them. Not once did I feel unsafe trying on frames in the store. Overall I had a really great experience at WP and when the time comes for new glasses I'll most definitely stop in to look at frames again. So glad I was able to make an in-store visit too... it was helpful trying on more than 5 pairs at a time! This review is about this location during quarantine, not the company. This location literally just opened so I'm not sure why there are a bunch of really poor reviews about the service received years ago applied to this location. There was a short line outside when I went on a Sunday morning. There was a person outside who helped answer our questions and informed us how the flow of traffic would work to keep us all safe. Basically when you're done trying out glasses, you put it in a bin. Then some workers continuously sanitize and return the glasses from the bin back to the shelf. That way you always get to try on a clean pair. and There's no pressure on how many you want to try on either. Hand sanitizer spots were all around and overall a very clean store. I did one less star because compared to other Warby Parker's I've been too the service was a little negligent. I remember helpers would come and ask me questions and give me -what felt like- really objective advice on whether specific frames fit my face structure. It was great. If you just need a prescription for eyeglasses, Warby Parker is fine. However... First red flag Doctor found light scarring on my eyes. Took a blurry photo through the optical equipment with her cell phone. Prescribed drops and told me to come back in a few weeks. Tried to make an appointment and guess who's on leave? Along with the blurry comparison photo... Second red flag There's no way to call the individual locations. You have to call the main hub. If you need to speak to anyone about your eye exam, only the doctor can do this and they have to call you back. There's no patient portal where you can log in to get details and no nurses to help. So if the doctor is out, you have to wait for another doctor to get around to it. Even worse, the hub employees have no telephone numbers for their stores either! It's all via email...and we all know how that usually works out. Called to follow and all they can do is send another email. Hoo boy. So...it's a wrap for me with this company. My vision is important so I need a different kind of experience. Perhaps you will have a better one than I did. Getting information from here wasn't easy for me. I've been a glasses wearer all my life. This was my first time at Warby Parker. I purchased a pair of prescription lenses (with blue light protection) as well as non-prescription sunglasses. Both pairs have developed so many scratches that I can no longer use them because it is obstructing my vision. I've had for less than two years. I always put my glasses back in my case and take incredibly careful care of them. For reference, my last pair of prescription glasses lasted me 10 years without developing scratches. If you order glasses, have them sent to the store and you can pick them up. Warby Parker now uses LASERSHIP (Now they're called OnTrac, but same company) as a shipping service which is the WORST shipping ever! They drop things outside on my building steps every time and things often get stolen. I used to LOVE Warby Parker and always gave them 5 stars like ALL of my other reviews. Their glasses are still great, and if I had known about them using Lasership I would have had them sent to the store! I thought Warby Parker would remain the same wonderful shipping service that they used to have. They have not! The people at the Flatbush location in Brooklyn are really WONDERFUL, so 5 stars for THEM, and I'm sure they didn't know, because I ASKED, and they told me that things only ship out via USPS mostly, but sometimes UPS or FedEx. If I had known they used Lasership I never would have ordered, or I would've had them sent to the store! This is a nightmare. Do NOT come here if you expect an experienced optometrist. I came in with a written diagnosis from an Ophthalmologist. I had cranial 4 nerve palsy resulting in vertical diagnosis. She told me to go to a optometrist and tell them I needed a prescription for prism glasses. I saw a 20 something who admitted she had no experience with prism glasses (great). She examined me and wrote me a prescription. It had 4BO on it, but I didn't know what that meant. I was leaving the country in 10 days and the nerve damage was supposed to be temporary, so I didn't want to spend a ton on frames, AND Warby Parker couldn't get it done before I left, so I ordered them elsewhere. The glasses came with the wide part of the prism to the outside by my ear. I though this was odd and they did not correct my double vision. I did a little google search and THE PRESCRIPTION WAS WRONG. BO stands for Base OUT. Vertical double vision is base down or base up: "Base. Depending on your double vision, the prism is placed vertically, horizontally or diagonally in one or both lenses of your eyeglasses. The "base" is the thickest edge of the prism and tells you where the light is redirected. It may be on the outer edge of the lens (Base Out, BO), the inner edge (Base In, BI) for horizontal double vision, or at the top (Base Up, BU) or bottom edge (Base Down, BD) for vertical double vision." Sure enough I turned the glasses 90 degress so the side of the glasses were the bottom and I could see. WP refused to do anything to help. I was leaving the country in 48 hours. Milan Optique cut up the lens and turned it 90 degrees and set it in a child's frame so at least I could see. I will NEVER go to Warby Parker again. Staff is great at this store, attentive and helpful. My issue is with the glasses themselves, I have the "Hardy" style. Pros: a lot of different styles to choose from, cost is reasonable. Cons: the screw on end piece fell out. I was lucky to find it. I reinserted the screw. I have to tighten the screws on both end pieces every couple of weeks. The lens are difficult to keep clean. I use a wipe specifically made for eye glasses. The lens develop spots on them that are difficult to remove. I've tried microfiber clothes and other materials with little luck. The glasses smudge easily, with very little handling. Will not buy from them again. read more

WP heavily encouraged us to get the coating on the lenses. Cool. Two years later, the coating is inexplicably peeling. Tons of bouncing around and never getting a straight direction over the phone. Finally hit up the store, and it's $80 to replace the lenses, and advice not to wash glasses with soap (wat, but also we didn't). If they hadn't pressed for the defective coating, or if they'd been remotely together over the phone, or if it hadn't been $80 to repair their defect, maybe all this wouldn't be so disappointing. Let me start by saying their staff are incredibly friendly; from the receptionist to the doctor. I felt welcomed. Like all medical appts, WP is no different especially in these times when keeping the flow of people going in and out is important. So that said, come early if you can especially if you didn't prefill the intake form and do mind their small grace window of being late. That said, to those that complained about having their appt canceled because they were late, that's their fault. As for the actual eye exam, it went well. Several tests were done and although the comprehensive includes dilation, you're given the option to have it done another day if you need to make better arrangements. In my case, with snow on the ground, and having driven here myself, I could not get the dilation done today. Once done, the doctor will provide you a thorough analysis of their findings and forward your prescription to your email. Once done, you pay upfront. Now this is the part I really like. At no point was I pressured to get glasses right then and there. It wasn't until I mentioned the model glasses I want did we begin the process. So that said, the staff are nice, the prices are fair, the docs informative, and you're not pressured to make a purchase right away. I strongly, STRONGLY recommend this location and certainly advise you to take the low star reviews with a heavy grain of salt. read more

Now 2 weeks and Change out I called to check status and the order has not been started. They claim They need to know what type of lens's I need. I spent an hour in the store telling the associate what I wanted and they put the order in, they had my prescription on file however the order didn't even start processing. There is a BIG DISCONNECT between Warby Parker's system and Client experience and service. So I had a less than positive experience with trying to get an eye exam at Warby Parker. I booked an examination because their website said they accepted my insurance (United Healthcare) when I arrived for my appointment I was told first that the optometrist wasn't accepting insurance so I would get an itemized receipt and I could submit that to my insurance provider. That already wasn't ideal. Then I was told that they don't actually accept my insurance because it's United Healthcare "Optum" so I'm out of network. So with the prospect of submitting a several hundred dollar bill to my newly out of network provider to probably only get reimbursed a small portion of that in return, I bailed and canceled my appointment. So, sure, I should have researched more thoroughly on whether they were a in network provider before I went but still best case was getting an itemized receipt and dealing with reimbursement. The people I dealt with were nice enough but seemed more interested in me buying glasses from them than whether I or my insurance company was paying, which is fine. That's their job. The caveat is that before you book do your due diligence. It's not as easy as they make it seem on the glossy website. You might end up submitting bills for dubious returns. Or if you don't care and just want to pay I'm sure they are fine. read more

I was in some traffic so called them to say hey i'm running a few late, the guy on the phone says all good thanks for the heads up. Then I get there and the store is CRAMMED with people, way over covid limits but I need my eye exam. 10min later the receptionist tells me the doctor wont see me bc i was more than 5 min late. I tell them i called and they said "well yeah that went to a call center so i don't have record of that they dont tell us". So after a few "are you fing kidding me" realizations that these people were indeed absolutely useless, they asked me if I can reschedule bc theres no way the doctor will see me. Somehow to their surprise I said no and proceeded to waste another $25 on a lyft home. I'm so annoyed that i risked exposure to that many strangers during a pandemic, due to a full team of people's total incompetence. I am so upset with my sunglasses that came in the mail. With my prescription being very high (-6.75) I ordered the high index lens as I don't want bottle cap sunglasses. I was helped by a number of people who told me I should be fine with this specific style as the lens is dark and the thickness will not show. "You should be fine" they said. Well.... forward a week and I receive them. Suuuuuper thick. Returning two seconds after I take them out of the case. If you have over a -4.00 prescription, DO NOT GO HERE!!! You will be very disappointed by the lack of knowledge the sales associates have at making sure you are pleased with your glasses. Side note: In addition to sunglasses, I was also trying glasses on and was being helped by a someone. Because the sales associate was giving me absolutely no direction in helping me choose a solid frame that works well for my face shape, etc, I was literally trying on all the frames I liked. I was taking my time and the sales associate was becoming irritated with the fact I was taking so long to decide on glasses. I was well-prepared and gave the associate much information about my prescription. I even had a bunch of glasses 'favorited' on my Warby Parker app. If the associate had much knowledge about glasses and chose a few out to have me try on, I would have taken a much shorter time. I must have been trying on glasses for only 20min max anyway. Once again....STAY FAR AWAY from this place if you have a real strong prescription and need someone with a solid foundation in eyeglasses to help you find the right pair and get that high index lens right so you don't look like an absolute fool in your sunglasses! I ordered glasses along with my sunglasses and I am so excited to see how awful they are. Keep it coming, Warby Parker. And they will not help you by tightening/re-fitting your non-Warby Parker glasses that are slipping down your nose even if you just spent over $500 on glasses. Don't even try. I can't even with this company. What a cash cow. Pay a higher salary and hire people who know a thing or two about glasses. I am grateful to Warby Parker, My son buys my glasses! Because my insurance doesn't cover anything! the style that I'm offered by Davis vision never fit and the lenses they made are always too! I have a high index Lenses. Davis videos vision are awful!! I've never had on an exam by Warby because they don't take my insurance? apart from one frame that I have. They have they have been amazing, I've recently scratched a pair somehow and they offered, to send me a brand-new pair of glasses instead of a lens replacement. Their customer service is amazing compared with most other places. I just wish they had more variety for extra narrow. One pair I had made two years ago which I have gone to the store about on several occasions, nothing was resolved for some reason? the prescription is totally wrong? and I've never been able to wear them. I have been trying to get them fixed still! I'd put In a drawer and I found them again. I'm just hoping that they will do something about the lenses. Because they are most definitely not my prescription, I can see maybe out of one eye with them the other I lens is totally wrong! I love Walby Parker I just wish my insurance covered lenses for me, because I have Davis vision! And they are awful. I recommend Warby Parker! It's a matter of getting the right shape glasses, the right lenses and a perfect fit. with the PD in the right place. I bought glasses online in the past, the PD was in the wrong place, I can't get progressives, because I don't think they could make them correctly. My only beef with Walby Parker, is that they say you can get a complete pair of glasses for $95? But mine are $425 I don't know why they advertise that price? If they did actually have that price I could get several pairs in different colours. I think in narrow and extra narrow they should have more styles and colours though. they should have solid bright colours like red, purple, pink etc. The vast majority of frames that they sell do not fit my tiny face. so I'm limited to maybe five frames sadly. Nice enough staff, kind of....and terrible product. Neither pair fits great. I've just started needing glasses in the last few years. Started with readers but now I need a prescription. While the staff was nice -ish I feel like one of the young women played a game. She made it seem like the second pair would only be like $80 more but they turned out to be about $200 more and all they are is readers. I feel duped. Again, not a long time glasses wearer so it's somewhat new to me and I said as much. Would have been better if she had been honest with me about what I was really paying for and what I was really getting. It wasn't until I saw a friend who has been a long time glasses wearer that I realized I paid like $200 for a basic pair of readers, I could have gotten them for $15 at Walgreens and they would have fit better. Warby Parker seems to have gone severely downhill from the time I first bought glasses from them in 2014. To start, my frames are now discontinued, so when it comes to lens replacement I am pretty much out of luck and will need to buy brand new frames. And speaking of lens replacement, I opted to replace the lens in my spare pair and my sunglasses while shopping for new frames (because again, my current frames are discontinued leaving me in a small bind). I had my exam, WP had my prescription, the store told me 7 - 10 business days before they'd be ready. Almost 3 weeks later, still have not received my glasses and contacted Customer Support. I was told the 7 - 10 business days referred to from the time the lab received the frames, not from the time they were sent out, PLUS, the store I went to probably didn't send them out right away. Like, what?? You tell a customer 7 - 10 business days and then it's almost a month (maybe more). These are glasses. I need my glasses. Don't tell me a timeframe only for me to find out it'll be double that time and possibly more. Oh, and one more thing, while chatting with Customer Support, I was told Warby Parker is getting rid of their lens replacement service altogether, but offering 50 bucks towards new frames. Prepare to constantly buy new frames everyone because if you know Warby Parker lenses, you know they scratch like crazy after a couple of years. Terrible. read more
