They initially sent me multiple letters in the mail marketing the protection plan as urgent and…read morenecessary (which is not true). After I had been paying almost $180 monthly for this protection plan, I decided I didn't need it anymore. I spoke to three different representatives over the phone. The last person I spoke to made it extremely difficult for me to cancel. He attempted to use aggressive sales tactics towards me begging me to not cancel my plan. After around fifteen minutes of him re-explaining why I shouldn't go forward with my cancellation, I told him I had been very understanding towards him but was getting frustrated that I had asked him to cancel my plan more than five times. He confirmed my cancellation (I need to wait to make sure I am still not getting billed) and hung up the phone. This is genuinely one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

U.S. Automotive Protection Services Is a Scam -- Watch Out for "Alex"…read more This company is not a real warranty provider. It's a pressure-based scam operation hiding behind official-sounding language and shady billing practices. They prey on confusion--calling shortly after you buy a car, making it sound like their coverage is required or part of your financing. It's not. It's a separate, overpriced "extended warranty" that no one in their right mind would willingly sign up for if given full clarity. They use names like "Paylink Direct" on your billing statements to avoid detection, and when you try to cancel, they stonewall you. The cancellation process is deliberately degrading. You'll be transferred, interrogated, ignored. One "representative" named Alex (if that's even his real name) was the most smug, manipulative voice I've ever dealt with on a call. He laughed, deflected, and refused to cancel the policy until I jumped through a series of degrading hoops. His whole job seemed to be making you feel stupid and exhausted so you'd give up. He even insisted on a "reason" for cancellation that fit *his script*--not what you actually said. If you have to call them, say nothing else. Just repeat the phrase: "Cancel my coverage." Do not engage, do not explain, do not answer questions. Record the call if legal in your state. They want to drag you into a circular argument or wear you down emotionally. Don't play. This is a textbook predatory funnel: confusion consent obstruction humiliation. They want you to feel powerless. If this happens to you: Dispute the charge immediately. Report them to the CFPB, FTC, and BBB. Warn others. These people thrive on silence and shame. And to Alex: if you're reading this, enjoy whatever sad little power trip your headset gives you. You're not clever. You're not persuasive. Hope the money makes it worth it. You aren't just clocking in, you clearly enjoy this, which makes you very sick.
