I had a very positive experience at the Affton license office today. I was registering a new car and there was a problem with the paperwork provided by the dealership. Riley knew exactly what to do to get the situation resolved. She was courteous, respectful and very knowledgeable. Definitely do not recommend this DMV. There was no air in the building and very limited seating so I left, ran a few errands, came back and waited in my car. I checked in at 11:27am and was not serviced until 12:33pm. Once I received the text message that it was turn, I headed to the counter. What should have been a quick in and out process turned into something longer than it needed to be. The computer system began to malfunction and the man servicing me had to try and restart the document scanner. He moved to a new computer to finish the process. I didn't leave from the DMV until 1:10pm. Definitely will never come back here. read more

I was recently returning to this office with all the needed paperwork and noticed a new help desk positioned at the entrance. Very nice addition. After a few minutes I was waited on by LuLu who was training a newer employee. She was knowledgeable, helpful and considerate. This is so appreciated! I was in and out in under 30 minutes for title registration and taxes on a used vehicle. Great job guys read more

Great staff that are always super helpful! I was super lucky and was in and out in less than 20 minutes but there was no line. My first time there it did take over an hour with a pretty long line but the staff were very organized and on top of things. read more

The jerks that run this place REMOVED ALL THE CHAIRS FOR CUSTOMERS and replaced them with blue tape you must follow until someone helps you after roughly 5 hours of waiting. An elderly man walked in and had to ask the stranger at the end of the line if he would hold his spot in line for him since he has a bad knee and can't stand while waiting to be helped. The people running this place give zero fox. I can't imagine running my business like this. Go somewhere else. read more

No verbal directions are given when you enter, yet you are yelled at for sitting in the incorrect row of chairs based on the service you need. After being rudely admonished, some customers left. Employees do not wear name tags. A large framed white female with dark hair/blonde highlights pulled back in a partial ponytail is the employee with the abrasive manners. Never Again! read more

Wow - I normally go to Deer Creek DMV, but had to go to Affton in a pinch. What a difference! The person helping me would barely speak, did not look at me, and was cleaning her office phone while I tried to explain my problem and get an answer. The question was not resolved satifactorily and I left wishing I had never shown up there. I am sure the person behind the desk wished I had never shown up there as she made that quite evident. Couldn't leave zero stars; disappointing. The Affton DMV is EXACTLY why government agencies should NOT be privatized and the DMV should NOT be franchised. The creature I dealt with had attitude before I even got called. I was excited thinking I was just coming in to pay and wrap up. Waited patiently for 1.5 hrs. Nope. Despite being told yesterday that I had EVERYTHING needed; today was a DIFFERENT STORY. My keys got tangled with the pen rope; she ASSUMED I did it purposely. AS IF I wanted 1 more minute with her mouth. She starts yelling, "You don't get to come in here and get an attitude with me!!" I said, "Have a nice day. Actually, no. Have the day you deserve." She starts yelling, "Don't come back here." I laughed and said, "No worries, I won't!" She was so mad she couldn't trigger me she started ranting, "Don't go to any of our other offices, either! We called them." I laughed and said, "No worries, I won't. You wasted my time." That a franchise has 'her' as the face of their company is mind-boggling. The lines are long wait time to long but if it is a slow day and you have all the paperwork you nead it is as fast as any other . Thy didn't get my drivers license right thy gave me a non legal one even thought I told them that A TSA agent said I. Nead one to fly again. I see a lot of negative reviews here, but they are overstated. Most importantly, there are chairs and numbers are passed out. Everyone was polite and I got in and out in less than 40 minutes. (There was only a short line) My only criticism, they don't answer the phone. I had a legitimate question that I really needed answered before I stood in line and they have no way of doing that. The phone rings and rings, with no voicemail and there is no email address. They could work on that. Consensus... no more annoying than anytime spent at the DMV, but you can go here and be just fine. read more

To start with the hours for this office are incorrect on your site, they are open 8am - 6pm (not 7:30am as you have listed on Yelp) This location has good counter staff, and a manager who is trying to provide good customer service, BUT the first person you meet upon entering is a lady who is rude and does not care about helping anybody. Even the manager knew right away that when I asked to talk to her it was about the "greeter." I am willing to say they are worth a 3 on the rating scale due to the excellent service from Christopher and the driver's license staff, and the manager, who seemed to be stuck with the rude door greeter. read more

First time filing online for tags. July 18, 2024 for July tags. It's now August 3 and still no tags. Called Jefferson City (after trying to get through to this office in Affton) who said they were sent to the Affton office and to call them. I laughed. She laughed. Good times. I have tried calling the Affton office 75 times this morning; and that is not an exaggeration. No one picks up. You can't leave a voicemail because it's full. I wish I had their access code so I could retrieve their messages for them. My suggestion is twofold: don't use the online renewal system but if you do, use a different office and not the Affton office. I'm stuck and don't know what to do, other than hope to God I don't get pulled over for expired tags that cost me $88 and a lot of frustration. read more

It was crazy busy in the late afternoon so I went the next day - before they opened. Was waited on promptly, and they were very nice when informing me of the aggravating and unexpected emissions testing that was required here vs. where I lived before. I went down the street at their recommendation , got the inspection as a walk in and they helped me right away when I came back. All in all, a decent DMV experience. read more

First time at this location and I had an absolutely wonderful experience. I needed to get my drivers license renewed. We all know the lines get long and you're gonna have to wait. I arrived 10 minutes before the office opened. There were already three people in line outside so I decided to join them. They actually opened the doors two minutes early. it was my lucky day because the three people in front of me had to get tags for their cars which meant I was the first person in line for drivers license renewal. The lady was so nice and pleasant to work with. I had to get my real ID so I had lots of paperwork to give her for her to go over and make copies of. After getting the dreaded drivers license picture taken and paying the fees. I was out of there by 8:11. I could not believe how quick the process was. I will definitely be going back to this location in the future. One thing to note, there are not chairs or check-in at this location. They might have had two chairs upfront but you basically get in line and stand in line until it is your turn. I do not mind this because I would typically prefer to stand. know other locations you go in, take a number or sign in on a computer and sit down to wait until you are called. So with that information if you do not enjoy standing or are unable to stand for an amount of time. This might not be your location. read more

absolutely horrible. Apparently someone threw a chair in the Affton office so now they've taken all of the chairs off the floor and all of the chairs along the wall. I had to stand there for an hour after a knee replacement on a cane for a handicap sticker. Because one idiot threw a chair the rest of us have to suffer. It is by far the stupidest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. Old people go there, handicap people go there and you have to stand there for hours???? Stand..... it is completely ridiculous. I had a horrible experience with the Affton DMV. The lady Tiffany that helped me was extremely rude and it was very apparent that she did not like her job at all. The only good experience I could say was there was a young gentleman by the name of Christopher who I got to watch and listen to as he helped other customers. He was extremely professional and treated everyone that was at his window with excellence. It was obvious as to why he was training the new employee. I truly feel that everyone working at the Affton DMV should take note from Christopher on how customer should be treated in an establishment and place of business. read more

Avoid if you can. A guy yelled at me from 25 feet away asking how he can help me as soon as I walked into the door. I kept walking closer so I could speak to him like a human being. He yelled the same thing again. I told him I'm not going to scream across the room. I walked up to him and spoke to him in a civilized manner. He was not friendly or helpful at that point. The employees there were moving slow. One lady got up and went to the back. And I never saw her again. It's always crowded.

DMVs are short staffed, so it's not fair to complain about that. The staff is very friendly and makes sure people waiting in line are reasonably comfortable. My only little complaint, sometimes they're too friendly and can hold up the lines even more by having side conversations. read more
