But now I have an even BETTER reason to frequent this tiny town! Using the label, "Wild Rag," South Texas Distillery produces two amazing vodkas; one traditional and one cinnamon-flavored!! The traditional vodka is SUPER SMOOTH with caramel notes and a clean finish. It mixes GREAT with just about anything or enjoy it over ice. The "Torch" cinnamon-flavored variety is like a party in your mouth! It's a little spicier than your average cocktail - like a handful of Red Hots with a nice kick afterward. You can't go wrong having a heavy hand when you pour this into a glass. The tasting and sales room are both on site and visitors are encouraged to try and buy. It's very easy to do both. This business is just getting ramped up, but the vodkas have already picked up a major distributor so you should be able to find it in liquor stores soon. BUT, don't let that keep you from making the voyage to this out-of-the-way location to see (and try) it for yourself. I think I'll keep getting my bottles from the source.

Hand made cocktails featuring the local spirit are top notch, live music is featured as well. They offer tours of where the magic happens (I'll try to make it early enough next time) but definitely a positive, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy some locally made beverages. (Wasn't pushy and he asked when we clearly looked indecisive). He then let us try sample of two different whiskey brand. Definitely a nice touch and something I wasn't expecting. Like I said, I'm from Chicago and we definitely don't get service like that. We kept browsing trying to decide (the samples didn't help because they were both good!). At one point, I asked if one particular brand was worth the $42 price and he gave an honest answer and said no. I thought that was great that he gave his honest and unbiased opinion and didn't take the opportunity to sell us something we wouldn't like.
