In December of 2025, my daughter was at college in Oregon when she was diagnosed with acute…read moreappendicitis at the emergency room. With the dorms closing the next day, we faced the added challenge of finding a solution for her surgery, as she wouldn't have a place to stay and was unable to fly. The ER doctor in Oregon administered antibiotics and pain medication, and we made the decision to fly her home the following day. Back in Austin, I contacted several local surgeons but was unable to find anyone who could see her in a timely manner. Our only option would have been to return to the ER in Austin, which could have turned into a 6-8 hour ordeal. In a moment of desperation, I reached out to the Gonzales Hospital team, explained the situation, and they immediately went to work and coordinated with one of their surgeons (Dr Koerner) and had a plan in place before my daughter even landed, allowing us to bring her directly from the airport to Gonzalez. Upon arriving at the ER, we received swift and compassionate care. Much of the pre-op work was done right there, and my daughter was then moved to a room for monitoring to ensure there was no rupture. I cannot say enough about the care we received from the nurses. They were incredibly attentive, especially considering how scared and in pain my daughter was. When she had an adverse reaction to her pain medication, they were quick to respond, comforted her, and got her pain under control. As a mother, seeing my daughter in such distress was heartbreaking, and your team went above and beyond not only in caring for her but also in reassuring me during such an emotional time. The surgical team was equally amazing. They talked my daughter through each step of the process and explaining what to expect. After my daughter had already been poked multiple times in Oregon and starting an in the ER, they developed a plan to administer the additional needed IV while she was under anesthesia, sparing her from further discomfort. Everyone in the pre-op room was warm, communicative, and incredibly supportive. Dr. Koener was also wonderful in providing a detailed recap of the procedure, and I am truly grateful for the incredible talent and care she provided during my daughter's surgery. Overall, our experience at Gonzalez was nothing short of phenomenal. It was a powerful reminder of why I have such a deep appreciation for critical access and community hospitals--The Gonzales Healthcare team's passion for patient care was evident in every interaction. I cannot thank you enough for the exceptional service and kindness we received.

In and out in about an hour. My dissatisfaction starts here, received the bill from the hospital. After insurance, I owed $595 dollars. I thought this was high for the little care I was given and only a Covid test ran. But I paid it anyway. Two months later, the doctor is now billing me for $184 dollars, after insurance. For his 10 minute conversion we had. The billing system is so screwed up all over priced. I will avoid going to this from now on.

She is all about the money and could care less about treating patients that are within network at the facilities she works at. Regardless if she says she accepts your insurance, she will discriminate against you at will!! Do yourself a favor and find someone else to care for your healthcare. I was scheduled with her 3 times and every time received a reason on why she couldn't see me or why I couldn't see her. Today when I arrived for my appointment with her she finally told the staff to reject seeing me all together to establish care, although we are a military family and I have collapsed lung from covid, I have bronchitis currently and need to be seen, have been with her Medical Center at Scott and white for many years, moved south and needed to establish care with a local doctor. In the decade that I have been with Scott and White I have never been refused care, until today, by Doctor Gladys Weng. She picks and chooses who she treats, so be careful when choosing such a Doctor who discriminates.

One thing that impresses me most is their professional approach. They respect your time. Each staff member consistently monitors the clients performance. You do not have downtime waiting while the staff chats among themselves. They do not look at a computer screen while you wait to find out what you should do next. Not sure if you are doing an exercise correctly it's not long before a staff member answers the question you didn't know you had. The staff is extremely well trained and each staff member provides a consistent set of instructions and feedback. Everyone is super friendly which makes for a relaxing environment. Lacy in the office is like the mother of everyone. She cheerfully greets clients by name and makes sure future appointments are scheduled to suit the clients needs. She is the perfect person for the job.

The second visit was for a broken bone in the foot as confirmed by Christus Med Clinic. Arrived at 9:40 for a 9:45 appointment. Was told that I might need to go get another x-ray, "down stairs" and was promised a walking shoe along with help to fit into my boot. Had to retrieve the boot from the car while managing crutches and was then told that I would have to wait to see if they could work me back in, although I had been there and in a patient office for an hour. At 11:45, I got my cd and referral back and left. No shoe, no fitting for the boot, and no further information to treat a broken bone. I was told by the Christus group that I would need surgery, won't consider Dr. Cruz since he can't even get into systems for x-rays or get my foot fitted into the proper medical item.

The worst front desk customer service…read more This was after I had already gone to the Kyle location for walk-in X-rays and was told their tech was out. That part I completely understand--life happens. What I didn't appreciate was being told that I should have called ahead to check whether they were doing walk-ins. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of offering walk-in X-rays, especially when the website says they are available? I called this location before making the additional drive and confirmed they were accepting walk-ins. When I arrived, the front desk person simply nodded at me. It wasn't clear whether she was acknowledging me or telling me to come forward, so I asked if she wanted me to move forward. She just nodded again. There was no greeting, no verbal direction, and no attempt to make the interaction welcoming or even clear. Her demeanor gave me the distinct impression that she simply did not care about the person standing in front of her. Customer service matters everywhere, but it especially matters in healthcare. Patients may already be anxious about why they need imaging in the first place. Basic courtesy and clear communication should not be too much to expect. I would not return to this location. Update: I do want to add that once I was taken back for my X-rays, the imaging experience was wonderful. Daisy, who performed my imaging was kind, professional, and made that portion of the visit a very positive experience. Unfortunately, that does not change my assessment of the front-desk customer service, which was extremely poor and is the reason I would not return to this location.
