I got a strat neck from Warmoth in 2004 ish 3A birdseye maple and gloss finish to go with my 57" fender custom shop strat body. It's the best, and I mean BEST, guitar I have every played and the NECK is the reason. Absolute perfection from Warmoth! 20- 30 guitars in my life that I own alone or built. Got a roasted maple neck recently in 2026 for a player 2 tele. Came in perfect condition and perfect packaging that could not harm the neck without serious intentional carrier abuse of the package. Well, I need to do a little work with it and not from the delivery. From fret level, high and low issues with the kisser to neck adjustment difficulties...... might have to heat and jig the neck straight with a loose truss rod! Remember people wood is from nature and CAN get messed up no matter how perfect the craftsman can build a product, ie our necks and bodies from heat, cold, humidity and atmosphere can change sometimes for the worse and it's not the luthiers "builders" fault necessarily and I doubt Warmoth doesn't source and check their order and woods properly. And Roasted wood, well you get the idea. Outside of that you can blame Warmoth if something is wrong with incorrect specs or QC as you should. I have no experience with that. I will be ordering more necks so I will have an opinion again if the next one comes with the same issues I got this time! Otherwise, everything Warmoth...... I still want to and will continue to order from and enjoy using. read more

Called Warmoth today to order a neck plate pad for a custom bass I'm building. Shipping and handling for a $2 part is over $9...atrocious! The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was apologetic and said that shipping used to be even worse ($16 for a piece of rubber that fits in an envelope?). If I'd found another source for this pad I would have used it - Warmoth is apparently like another company that gouges musicians for their cash. I am going to be building a P bass soon...but it won't have Warmoth parts. I'll find someone who cares about customers. (This purchase is important to me but $11 total price for a $2 part is POOR value.) read more

Warmoth makes amazing guitar and bass parts. I built a custom tele w/roasted maple & dark rosewood fretboard w/ custom inlay. The body was basswoid with an alder top, tummy cut, forearm cut, reduced heel and cutaway. Perloid binding on the front. The service was top notch, and there's more than enough selections to make any guitar you want. They were very helpful with all customizations for the neck and body. And all for a cool $1,200! so much cheaper than any custom shop order. But with a good fret dress it plays as well or better than most custom shop guitars. On top of that it came in at a nice 6.8 lbs. so it's very light and comfortable to play. Will definitely order again. read more

Poor Customer Service: It seems Warmoth will say anything to avoid a warranty claim. Within a year my guitar tech could no longer get enough relief from my neck. First, Brandon at Warmoth told me over the phone that wipe on finishes void the warranty--Not true! Then he said in writing a "bow developing over time is not a workmanship issue so it cannot and will not be covered under warranty." So apparently Warmoth does not have a one-year warranty on their necks??? Order at your own risk! BTW this was my third order from Warmoth. Apparently they do not appreciate loyalty either. read more

@WarmothGuitar First negative experience with Warmoth and it's a doozy! After spending almost $2000 over the last year, they sent me a blatantly blemished neck and called it "personal preference" Super rude. Not even an acknowledgement much less apology or consideration. After speaking to two representatives including a manager, I couldn't even get one of them to admit that A mark that looks like chewing tobacco spit might even hypothetically be undesirable. I am sending it back to them now and very much hoping the replacement is not equally ugly. Based on their attitude I would not be surprised if they intentionally send me crappy neck out of spite. I know these guys make great necks which is why I ordered from them in the first place. However, it's pretty clear that customer service is not a priority and customer loyalty accounts for absolutely nothing. Photo attached... I've purchased Tons of bodies and necks from Warmoth over the years, thousands of dollars. I have NEVER been disappointed with the product or service... Not once. Today.... That changed. Not going to get into why or what I called for, but.... I was treated as though I was bothering the representative on the phone. First off, I am an experienced guitar builder who has made several bodies and necks from start to finish. I did not have a template for a Jazzmaster and decided to just buy one from the "in stock" supply. The body arrived with two noticeable defects in the wood. It was alder so I was really hoping it would be ready to paint without too much prep. This was not the case. The sanding was sloppy, and the two defects had to be filled in and sanded. Ok, no problem, done. Then I painted it and during the curing process noticed that one of the defects I thought was just a surface blemish turned out to be a hair line crack. I noticed it because as the paint dried it sucked into the crack and was much more noticeable. I sanded it off and could see clearly the hairline crack causing the problem. I notified Warmoth and got the run around. First, I have to pay for the return. Second, they "MIGHT" grant me a return and replacement depending on their review but not likely since I painted the body and then sanded it. To add to my regret of buying this body, comes to find out that their Jazzmaster differs significantly from a real Jazzmaster specs and your loaded pickguard will NOT fit. Not even close. WOW, still haven't found where that little tidbit can be gleaned from the fine print, and I'm a lawyer...lol. Do yourself a favor, for the same price you can order from Guitarmill.com. Much better customer service and better finished product. at this point I am just going to fix the damaged body myself and avoid the hassle of sending it back in the hopes they'll do me a favor and replace it. I am doing a sparkle finish and I can hide the repair work. If not, well then, I will chalk it up to a lesson learned and get the CORRECT direct replacement body with true Jazzmaster specs from Guitarmill. read more

I was told 12-14 weeks.... it's now been 17 weeks and 5 days. I was told 4 weeks ago "It just seems your neck is taking slightly longer than expected. It may be a few more weeks, however it is in the last steps of production. So it should be out relatively soon!." Ya, 4 weeks ago and still crickets! Not a happy camper at this point. Sadly Warmouth is not what they once where, I have 2 necks that I have gotten from them over 30 years and the last one was horrible, they blew the order specifics on truss rod placement, the finish sucked and the frets where clear coated over. They refunded my money but I got this diatribe from their customer service guy doing some Corporate song and dance and trying to parse it into the "In the future if you blah, blah, blah,,," Give me a brake, you have your customers doing your quality control? I've bought Warmoth guitar parts for over 10 years. I've built 3 guitars and 1 bass and each experience has been fantastic. However, customers have to warned: If you are looking for a guitar that just plops together and is ready to play, then buying a fully assembled guitar is more recommended for you. Building a Warmoth is like building a kit car. Yes, the original fit and finish of the parts is perfect, but it must be finessed to be playable. I will order all the parts, assemble them, including the electronics, and then take it to a guitar tech to setup. Since he or she is the expert, they will know where to adjust to make the action, intonation, etc perfect. So spending a few more dollars on the setup is normal. If you want a cheap guitar, buy a Squier. One last thing, Warmoth is more Fender centric, so if you are looking for a neck-thru ESP or a set neck Gibson, by all means, buy an ESP or Gibson since they make fine guitars as well. read more

I have bought numerous bodies and necks from Warmoth and I must say their quality is second to none. When I did have an issue with a Thinline body they fixed it by creating me a new body with extras to make up for the shipping from FL back to them. As for the negative comments I see concerning finish and frets these people need to learn to read. It clearly states on their website that if you get a neck with a maple fretboard the finish will be on the frets. It also goes on to explain that fret leveling, although no Warmoth neck I ever bought needed fret leveling, and cleanup is your responsibility. To help those who cant find this here it is "On maple necks with maple fretboards the entire neck is finished, including the fretboard, frets, and inlays. We do not remove the finish from the frets. This work is left to the end user, as part of the set up, assembly, and fret leveling process." I've recently ordered a pickguard for a Warmoth guitar and it took quite a bit longer than quoted to ship it. Normally, no big deal- however over repeated email communications with a lot of different people I was told wrong date after wrong date. I do not like that. Be up front. I'll cut them some slack for the 3 months "pandemic delay". With that said, the workmanship on this neck was terrible. Specifically the nut was unbelievably ill fitted to the point that it popped off with in first 3 days with a little bending. Warmoth gave me 1/2 off on a set of tuners equaling about $60 ish. Virtually zero dressing and fret work, spent probably $400 including the new nut just to get this neck playable. Lost tons of time and money in the studio as a result as I specifically built this guitar for a specific record I was hired to play on. Felt that Warmoth should have financially compensated me far more than the $60 tuners (which is probably a break even for them). Will NEVER work with Warmoth again, huge disappointment, very expensive mediocre neck. read more

I recently purchased a used Warmoth tilt Strat neck from eBay. I know what a major upgrade a Warmoth neck offers my Strat. However, there was no logo on the headstock. I know that Warmoth has some available, so I wrote in to ask about them and Spike shipped me one AT NO CHARGE! What Spike DOESN'T know is that I have several electrics and basses that will be getting neck upgrades, and that small token of customer service will translate into several hundred in more sales. Terrible experience trying to get a replacement neck from Warmoth where I had to spend an extra 300 dollars for a fret level on a 500 dollar CUSTOM ORDERED NECK. First I order an already made tele neck in standard thin contour after testing different widths and doing online research, and when it finally arrives it feels incredibly slim so I measure it and it's closer to their Wizard profile which is significantly slimmer. They say that's how it is, even though the dimensions are not what they advertise but I'm more than welcome to return it. I send it back no problem and decide to order a custom neck so there is no discrepancy and I can get exactly what I want no questions asked. When it arrives I take it to my long time trusted luthier and he says the frets are so uneven that if I want it to be in any playing condition the action will either be super high, or I'll have to get a full fret level. He recommends I call Warmoth seeing as it's a brand new custom ordered neck, and they reply with; there's absolutely nothing we can do, it's not our fault, that's just the way it is, we can't guarantee that it will be in playing condition when it arrives, and that warranty covers nothing. So a 500 dollar guitar neck has turned into an 800 dollar guitar neck due to their lack of attention or care to customer satisfaction. Super unhappy with the whole situation and will never do business with them again and will tell others to stay away unless they'd like an empty wallet and a headache. read more

I've bought several necks without an issue but the Tele Bass neck I bought did not fit my stock Tele Bass body. There was no sufficient warning on the and because I had already installed the tuners on the neck they won't take it back. read more

I ordered a custom body in June. Their web site said it takes 8-10 weeks if you have a finish applied. In July I get an email that my order did not pass QA and I had to choose another top. So now I don't get the top I chose but another that I had to pick from which was not as nice as the first. This also means the clock on the build starts over. So after about 14 weeks into this I send them an email inquiring about the status only to be told it will be another couple of weeks. I call BS and they ship it out in a couple of days. I receive my package only to discover a huge ding in the bottom of the guitar the box was not damaged. Contacted Warmoth and they said they would replace it after I send it back. Now the clock starts over again and I have to choose another top from the scraps that are left. It's now December and It's been 10 weeks so I email them and ask about the status and I'm told the binding took along time so it will be another couple of weeks. Never again! read more

They're website implies that the products they create are of the highest quality with total customization. However, they have the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They ( John Cockran ) was rude and never returned complete information. I asked if they can make a certain type of guitar neck, and all I get is no, No, and NO. Basically, they were maneuvering my sales inquiry into a purchase for a full custom guitar costing in the range of 2 grand, when all I wanted was a Guitar neck. I even asked for a guitar neck that was already for sale on their website, and again, the sales person kept saying NO, and continued to maneuver my inquiry into a purchase for a full custom guitar costing over 2000.00 or more. Ridiculous, two can play at this game. I found another custom shop without a fancy website, yet they created a full custom guitar neck with no hesitation. They said yes to everything I wanted and created a one-of-a-kind guitar neck at a very good price. On the other hand, Warmoth is the has worst customer service I've experienced. I would not buy from these people. such paltry service will extend into their products. Low Quality, hacked up, and slapped together products. It's no wonder they won't accept walk-ins cause they don't create their own parts, they order from other custom shops and slap a higher price tag on it for you. LOL read more

If you have specific needs or requirements; or you're just looking to build something that is off the beaten path, Warmoth is the only place to go. Their quality is beyond expression. Their finishes are extraordinary in every way. Their support staff is helpful, knowledgable, and incredibly friendly. Building your dream guitar is probably one of the greatest experiences you'll ever embark on. My only recommendation would be to have an idea of what you want to build and then talk to their staff. They'll steer you straight and you will not be disappointed. After 30 years of building with Warmoth products, they have no equal. Period. read more

Purchased a vintage 5 hole pick guard that was shipped out on September 29 and I didn't receive it until October 28th. It took a whole 30 days to come in and I live in Canada, neighbours pretty much. The pick guard did not fit one hole, it was drilled millimeters from the hole on my body. I called to inquire and the rep was a little rude saying that was guitar wasn't drilled correctly. I asked if they could do anything and nothing could be done except refund, which is fine BUT the pickguard was 25 dollars and with shipping, exchange and everything it came to over $50 which they do not cover. So the problem is, I would have to pay more then the actual pickguard is worth to return it and cut the loss on the original shipping and exchange just to get a refund. Which is bs. 9 months have past since my initial order from Warmoth. Guitar arrived twice and sent back twice. Now still waiting for the guitar to arrive. Sent wrong body the first time, didn't install electronics the second time. Finish on body was not up to the standards that they claim. I have invested well over $1500 on this custom build and I have nothing to show for it. Do not expect to get any of your order in the time frame that Warmoth claims. Each time it has been two to four weeks past due date. I would never order from them again. read more

i've put together 2 basses using warmoth bodies and necks and they are great. when i can save up more money i plan on putting together a strat. i love fender designs and the sounds that come with them but their options are a bit lacking and it's always a gamble buying a vintage instrument, so i built a modern looking precision bass in a beautiful charger green for less than the price of a new Fender American standard bass, with more options and cooler looks. i loved how it turned out so when i got more money i decided to build a replica of a 1970's mocha fender precision. it looks amazing and the sound is exactly what i was going for, and again i saved money! the website is great, you can pick which body you get for your bass, which is really helpful because if you order a bass from another company with a natural finish you never know what the wood grain is going to look like, but with warmoth you get to pick! and they do a great job with the necks, very comfortable to play. if you're thinking about putting together a warmoth, DO IT! read more
