Some instructors care some don't.WPU seems to be fully focused on enrollment diversity equity and inclusion. When it comes to their veteran services department it is lacking they do not maintain solid relations with the VA and I would say student accounts is troublesome from time to time. Overall my experience is a positive one at Warner but I would be cautious in using VA benefits at this school. Be ready to have to send lots of emails and or call or be in person 100% to 80% of the time. WPU is not a bad school, but it's not great either. read more

I want to express how upsetting and disappointing it is to find out that the program I was so excited to start is not happening. I went through a series of emotions and thought surely there must be a mistake, I must be interpreting the email wrong, I must have jumped to a conclusion, after all, I have several documents confirming the start date of November 4, 2019. This morning received confirmation that I had not misunderstood. Warner Pacific, or rather Dan Workman and Dr. Lori Jass, did, in fact, change the start date and the design of the Master of Science Management program less than two weeks prior to the course starting with no communication with myself or the four other enrolled students. It was never disclosed that the start date of November 4, 2019, could be affected by a lack of student enrollment. Furthermore, the $500 consolation prize is like a slap in the face, it is the same amount of money students are given for early enrolment and in no way does it communicate an apology or any understanding of how impactful this decision is on future students I invested a lot of hard work and time into getting accepted into this program, which included me being completely vulnerable and writing a letter that revealed a brief summary of the most traumatizing events of my life. I work a fulltime job and am a single mom raising a teenage son, I have had to overcome a great deal in my life, I struggle to make ends meet, and I believe a higher education is a way out of poverty for my family and me, so while this is only a few short months for you it is life-changing for me. Had I known in August that the start date could be moved out six months or that the program design could be changed from online to a hybrid program (part-time online and part-time on-campus), I may have made very different choices or maybe not but you stole that freedom from me. Warner Pacific gave and confirmed a start date, and now the start date has been ripped away from me without my consent or thought of what I and others have gone through to get to this point. It is an atrocity that is entirely unprofessional. This decision, the lack of communication on your end or request for input from other students or me, completely supports the power imbalance and amplifies the reality that I am not in a position of power, and therefore I am meaningless. What I want from all this is more consideration around the way your decisions impact current and future students. I want transparency, honesty, disclosure, and, most importantly, the freedom for myself and others to have and make our own choices around education. I want you as an organization to support your statements you make, such as, "We believe that you matter, and you deserve an educational experience where you feel loved and safe" through your actions. I must say you failed this time. However, I'm hoping that I have shed some insight and that your future decision-making process will be collaborative and inclusive. I am graduating in spring '19 from Warner Pacific and cannot say enough good things about my experience and personal growth. I am completing my degree in Accounting and have enjoyed the small class sizes and personal relationships with the Professors and students. I had no idea how much I needed to be in a smaller learning environment until I arrive here and thrived. Also, I have experience working with a variety of student perspectives from all types of backgrounds, veterans, active military, immigrants, first-generation Americans and individuals who are the first of their families to attend college - all working to improving ourselves. I have learned to work researching and creating presentations with many types of human belief systems and - more so than in any work environment I've enjoyed thus far in my life. You get what you put into your education. For those reviews that are negative, they will not find success at any school until they stop making excuses and clear the way for themselves. It is a Christian University - that means your going to pray or be around others who enjoy prayer, do service work, and learn about ethics and faith. You don't have to be a Christian to learn from this but faulting the school for its mission is some negative reviewers did, means they were not paying attention or did not really research the university before they started. Warner Pacific University will lift you up and help you (like they did for me) but they won't (and can't) do it for you. Only you can crack open your books, follow up, read the rules, ask the hard questions and persist. That's what your degree is really going to say about you -You didn't give up, you have character, you know how to work within a specific system and get results. read more

I wish i had not transferred here! First, they took away the english program and didn't tell the students. They keep things from the students. They make full time students complete 25 hours of chapel and community service and if you don't do any of it, they charge you( i think $10) for every hour you miss. Seriously what college student has the time to do that with the large amount of homework they give? It's so hard to work and go to school. Even if you just do part time. Lots of the classes that i needed conflicted with my work schedule. Some of the buildings need to be remodeled as they look bad. Speaking of buildings, some of them smell horrible! They're computers are slow to log in to. Let's not forget the ridiculous cost to attend! The drop out process takes some time as they want to try to keep you so they can continue to suck every cent out of you. read more

Warner Pacific is essentially a Christian-based University of Phoenix. Completely for profit and not challenging in any way. Spend the time to get a real degree that will challenge you. I know my biggest regret is continuing through the Bachelor's program as long as I did. I can't wait to transfer. read more

I don't know why there would be bad reviews.. if there are a few minor problems such as billing or what not, that happens in every school, every business, and problems are a part of life. You will learn as much as you want to learn. It is a liberal arts college and the progam is based on writing, analysing, thinking. So again, what and how much you learn does kind of depend on YOU. No one is there to baby sit you or make sure you are actually learning... It is an accredited college and the credits do count if you want to go on to get your Masters etc. So again, I'm not sure where some of the info here is taken from. It's a great school for busy Professionals like it says. Might not work for a 19 year old fresh out of high school. I would definitely recommend, especially for Christian based learning. read more

DO NOT HOST AN EVENT AT WARNER PACIFIC!! I recently participated in an event that we hosted at Warner Pacific and the facility was terrible as was the support. The rental was expensive, more than $500 for 2 hours. For this price the venue did not set up the auditorium as we requested, did not provide any microphones, and had their admissions staff at our event to market the university. Additionally, the facility is not easily accessible for those with ADA Accommodation needs and the bathrooms were not ADA accessible at all. PCC is only 5 minutes away and provides better support with newer facilities. I've also hosted events at Portland State University and had a far better experience. Avoid working with Warner Pacific unless you have no other option. If you do choose to work with Warner Pacific, plan to spend extra time and money with additional vendors to get remote microphones and wi-fi hotspots that you can bring with you. read more

Everyone I know that now has finished a degree cannot find work because of this sorry excuse of a school. Please please do not waste your time and certainly not your money. Nothing beats the in-person learning experience but WPU has met every one of my academic and professional needs in a timely and thorough manner with on line learning this past year. The Professor and Advisors in the Adult evening Graduate degree MAT program are experienced and generous professionals who know what they are doing and who teach with honesty and cultural responsive practices. They get a one star because the zero star is not available. They have/had an academic advisor that will place people in classes they don't need, or already took. They do not work with veterans, while doing homework, I was not paid for attending school. This is a Problem they will not address. The ADP Program is a joke! This is more like a discipleship program I went through when I was 19 years old, not an academic program geared towards professional working adults. The administration is poor and rarely gets back yo you. The classes involve writing reflective papers where you are asked to share more personal information than I would expect from a real college! They suck you in then once your in there is no where to go. If your drop the program none of the courses from Warner pacific do not transfer out to ANY university! I would have transferred out the first month if possible but at that point I would have wasted 10 weeks and thousands of dollars that I would not be able to get credit for. A solid Liberal Arts College, with a fun, caring family atmosphere in a beautiful location. WPU has great teacher education, hip Jazz programs, a Nursing program, and more. You probably have noticed lately they support Public Radio...I hear the name Warner Pacific University mentioned as a program sponsor often As an Alum, that makes me proud. It's a good match for values. For years, the leader among Christian College Coalition members for internationalism in mix of students, and probably also social concerns, WPU seriously aims to prepare adults to be of value to the world as whole persons and servant-leaders. This is a college that has long had Soccer instead of American Football for the right reasons. Australian ex-pat Coach Bernie Fagan, btw, is the father of the WPU Soccer franchise. He brought WPC to the professional stadium in NW, and is a natural with the media. Bernie later helped PSU grow its' international sports program. WTG Bernie! Warner Pacific University is a welcoming and safe place to explore the big questions of the universe, and integrate that to one's community actions. I was asked to Coordinate a varied mix of Outreach/Service Programs when I was still a Freshman. Years of Prison outreach, Senior housing and Skid Road visits and more, brought understanding of economic and other disparity, and this had a major effect on my life choices and work. The College provided cars and vans to be sure we could get out beyond the City. I travelled widely, tho i left my car behind in Montana. Other WPC Alums currently doing public service in Oregon include State Rep Vic Gilliam, and Judge Vance Day, who was state Chair for the Party of his choice. I have been a state officer for my Party too - the big-tent party of OBAMA!! - and tho everyone knows Vance's failures in judgement by now, I know we can still be friends. WPU s the kind of place where you have good clean fun, eat a LOT of BBQ and dessert instead of drink, really enjoy PEOPLE, and feel like you have family in the city. Forays into the Great Books await students, with small class sizes and a caring Faculty, so if one is ready to reframe one's experience of life with purpose, this is a good place to add meaning to one's journey. People speak passionately about their faith there, but it is not a Bible College. Like many other Church-sponsored Colleges, off-campus and international students have a wide variety of backgrounds. At some of the Coalition schools, up to 50% of students may not be from church backgrounds. In fact, Islamic students often prefer the positive, wholesome atmosphere. In 1975 three idealistic young women walked in an informed the (republican) College President that Federal Law Title 9 had passed, and we were having a Women's Soccer team. His face turned pale, then red, and he said if we can book the games and get a team to show up, he'd do the rest to have our coach and funding in place for the next year. We had great fun, finished the season and recruited players for the next year, and recrited Gary Bays as Coach. Soon, Coed Intramural Sports saw a resurgence. backed by the college to encourage lifelong fitness for all. The great Books and a Whole Person perspective guides adminstrative spending at a place like this - and it's a good thing. Administration methods have been sometimes overly democratic, IMO. I would have voted differently and intervened had I known that allowing Alumni to VOTE on future financial priorities - with reduction of Debt as a choice - would result in sale of the formerly par-like 16 acres from SE 60th to the Multnomah county nursery area. That sale quickly resulted in (what some of us think as) a tacky housing development. This was where the Community Athletics field and Lifelong Health Center were to be located in the alternate plan. To be fair, what appears to be a quality Senior Residence is also there, which is a good thing, and debt reduction strategy also has helped make WPC the most affordable Private college in the Pacific NW...a great reason to go for a visit and meet Professors and students in your field of interest. I hope the college is continuing to develop it's training in gerontology as was actively happening when I was there in the 1970's. Many at the College long held a dream to provide students and the South Tabor community with a superb athletic facility on SE 60th. If that is to happen in the future, it appears that will require another location. Portlanders are invited to visit the non-smoking campus for plays, concerts and other events, and can book the accessible facilities for events. If you live in the area or just enjoy Jazz, the Classics, Sports, Theatre and quality Chapel experiences, do follow the college schedule of public events, and become part of this wholesome, positive and supportive community. The classes are very lightweight. Mostly reflective writing, they pass out A's without real merit. This is a great program if you only want the piece of paper for minimal brain power. If you want to actually learn something, go elsewhere. The Bachelor's degree I am receiving from Warner will work only because I am going on to a Master's program that will provide the actual education I need. Like others, their Business Office has caused me many hours of agony. Having to always review my account, double charged for classes, too much money returned. I attended Warner for the fall 2015 semester. About three weeks into the school I realized I had made such a mistake. I was extraordinarily disappointed in basically all aspects of my time there. To even attempt to call this a Christian college might be blasphemy. Each "chapel" is just some rant about diversity that in no way incorporates Christian teachings. As for the academic part of my experience, it was even more of a joke. I achieved a 3.7 GPA from an honestly very mediocre level of focus and work ethic. My professors handed out A's like they are candy. There's no possible way a degree from this school should be taken seriously. Living in the dorms, I felt like I was living in some sort of housing for troubled delinquents. Constantly hearing fowl language yelled throughout the halls all night, smelling dope, and the bathroom conditions could only compete with a gas station. This school sucks, there's no other way to put it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I withdrew myself after completing the first semester and will never look back. I now attend the local community college, spending a FRACTION of the cost of tuition at Warner, and achieving a much higher level of education in the process. read more

The classes are great but beware the business office and their SHODDY accounting practices. They will rip you off with invisable charges and "average" your expenses for you. If you go there, you better check your account at least weekly, and be bold enough (and have the time and energy) to constantly call them out for it. read more

The library offers a great place to do some research and use the computers. Great books for sale too! The code to use the computers is a bit complicated but after you navigate that, all is good. They are helpful in getting you through the process. read more

I give this two stars because obtaining my degree was a nightmare. No instructor graded the same and each had their own views on what APA format was. Had a friend attend Pacific University for the same degree. when he graduated (a week after me) he had far more experience and knowledge of his future job. I only learned how to teach 6th grade math (I was in the Human Development program) and that "cheating is learning". It was a train wreck and I'm not sure it was worth the money i've had to pay for it. If you aren't sure what you want to do in life, or just need a degree, this is your place. Very diverse campus. It's too bad all the instructors are pretty much whites who can't really understand diverse students and connect with them. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where they can provide real liberal arts education with a more modern approach towards academics. Many students here also complain how the instructors suck and surely they do. Go to George Fox or North West Christian or anyplace besides this. I only went there one semester, so don't take my experience to be a full encapsulation of everything Warner. However, my time there was thoroughly unpleasant. Their business office is ruthless in its incompetence. Because their policy is to charge you money if you don't do free work for them while at Warner (this is called "service learning" and is part of the marketing blurb they use to sell their college in the sea of available schools), I was billed a substantial sum after completing my first semester. I had done some of this free labor, but a serious illness prevented me from finishing the rest. I appealed, was told they would handle it, and waited for anyone to get back to me. I heard back that they were canceling part of the debt, but then I got mail and phone calls billing me for the original amount! What became obvious after talking to people from different departments is that none of the departments are in contact with any of the others. When I questioned one person from one department, inevitably I was told "oh, well this person over here handles this thing, do you want me to transfer you?" And the same was told to me when I spoke to that person. Now I'm trying to contact yet another individual for a further appeal. I feel like I'm on tech support. For those not in the know, if you ever are unable to complete the *mandatory* free volunteer labor (I believe it's between 25 and 30 hours, and you are also required to go to their Chapel services) required to attend Warner Pacific (and they will use this sweat off your brow for their advertising purposes, to show all the good "Warner" does in the community), say for family reasons, or having a life outside of college, or severe illness, you would do well to keep in mind they charge $10 PER HOUR that you miss. Their school is already expensive enough. Not having time (for whatever reason) to volunteer at a soup kitchen is not sufficient moral grounds (although they will make you sign a document agreeing to pay these fees, so be aware of that) to invent a massive fine to slap onto grown adults. This is moral brainwashing at its most heinous, in my opinion, and has no place in an institution of learning. Let each individual decide how much he'd like to help his fellow human beings, and in what way. This feels like a cash grab. Some of the professors at Warner are very nice, and seem like knowledgeable people. The atmosphere there, however, is stiflingly religious and conservative. This would be less of a problem if the college wasn't situated in the heart of Portland, right next to PCC, and didn't bill itself as community-focused, and more accepting. If you like scientific examination, rational discussion, hearing different opinions or simply NOT hearing stock quotes from scriptures, you will not enjoy the theological discussions there. I recommend Warner only if you want to go into ministry, have no interest in hearing diverse opinions on the subject and wish to surround yourself with same-thinking individuals. I have my suspicions that both students and professors alike are being silenced from honest discussion by the official Christian stance of Warner Pacific itself. Incidentally, my major and minor were in Humanities. If you are taking Science courses, your experience may be better than mine was. I have heard their science courses and students are superior, but then, I have also heard to the contrary. I transferred in as a Junior, and I could only take one Semester before transferring out. I do not believe this school even deserves one star, they are a piece of work who should be shut down. They condone other students steal and will hide that because of what the student has "gone through" in life. It is disgusting to think that a person can have $2,000 dollars worth of electronics stolen and the school tells you tough luck, because they refuse to share the security footage of who stole the items. It is disgusting to me that school can be that vindictive to save another student from getting in trouble. Housing and the president of the school deserve zero stars they are disgusting when it comes to helping. They do not believe in getting the items back or the ability for another student to ask for the amount of money that the stolen items come out to, but they recommend a meeting to resolve the conflict and make everyone happy. Pretty much let your roommate and their friends steal your stuff but just say "hey, it's okay keep it. all $2,000 worth". I was unsatisfied with my education at Warner Pacific College. I was disappointed with the lack of support and response from the business office. There were several business courses in the ADP program which were taught by instructors who appeared to be unqualified. The instructor for the accounting class gave students the answers to homework prior to turning in. We were never required to do any accounting in excel which has only held me back in furthering my career. I have since then had to take courses on my own to teach myself as the instructors at Warner did not know how to use accounting formulas in excel. Most of the teachers do not require APA formatting but there are times when you have a few teachers who do follow the rules and require you to do so. I still do not have a grasp on APA formatting as it was not a requirement for most of the program. I feel that the education experiencec would be far more beneficial if all instructors were on the same page with the level of education and requirements they have for students. I am currently looking into other schoold other than Warner to complete my Master's. I will need to retake business statistics for my master's program even though I received a 'b' at Warner. I paid 20 thousand dollars for a piece of paper and medioker education. Some of my hi-school courses were more of a challenge than most of the Warner courses. DON'T waste your time or money on a poor education. read more

I graduated from Warner Pacific's MAT program. I give it 1 star for several reasons: 1) the problems I had with the billing department; 2) the changes that teachers would make to the syllabi; 3) the amount you will pay for books; and 4) last minute requirements made to our work sample. First, I saw that other reviews had the same problem with billing, and I agree with them. I did get over charged on my bill once. It was fairly difficult to have it changed and receive my reimbursement. It was only $500, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. It also happened to others in my program. Second, my teachers would send (or were suppose to send) the assigned syllabus the week before the class started, and then in class they would change it. It was mostly to lessen the number or length of the assignments or change reports to reflections. Although this sounds good, I was paying to learn and many times the reflections felt like busy work. I read one reviewer mention this and I agree. I would never as a teacher assign one page reflection a week. I would assign a report on a specific topic that required students to research and further their learning, especially for a Master's program in which each class is only 10 weeks. Third, they purchase your books for you and send them to you, which sounds good and helpful, but they are straight from their book store and expensive (so account for this in your budget)--and you might not even use all of them when the syllabus is changed. I also found it frustrating that several weeks into student teaching we had changes made to the format of our work sample by adding a lengthy sections, which was hard when we were already working hard student teaching all day and trying to complete our work sample and lessons at night. There are other things that I won't mention. Basically, there were many frustrations I had with this program, not that any program is perfect; and if I could go through a program again, I would apply somewhere else. If you are searching for a program maybe you will have a better experience, but be aware of some things you may encounter. read more
