Overall my experience is a positive one at Warner but I would be cautious in using VA benefits at this school. Be ready to have to send lots of emails and or call or be in person 100% to 80% of the time. WPU is not a bad school, but it's not great either.

Free dental cleaning and x-rays is pretty dang awesome. Especially if you're on a shoestring budget - which I'm pretty sure at least half of the residents of Portland are - free isn't something to be sneezed at. Additionally, everyone is friendly and helpful, the clinic itself is clean and well appointed, and the entire process is a pleasure - at least inasmuch as having your teeth scraped by pointy metal bits can be termed pleasurable. That said, make sure you've got some serious spare time on your hands when you make your first appointment. If time is money, then I paid through the nose, as it took four appointments if two hours each to get through the entire process. These folk are good, but they are students (supervised) which means they'll take their time.

The financial aid process is horrendous and if you owe them money, they make it almost impossible to pay off debt. They don't listen to student concerns about the community, I know a lot more people who have chosen to transfer out than I know people who have graduated from here. I also know a lot of staff members who have left this institution due to gross policies and beliefs from other staff in higher, more influential positions. Just don't do it. Don't put yourself through the headache and heartbreak you'll experience at this institution.

There is no ventilation in the dorms and the bathrooms are ancient with small showers. I'm fairly short and the shower heads were too short for me and there was no water pressure. The bathroom lights are on timers so are prone to turning off mid shower but the switch is outside the room so be prepared for a pitch black shower. The Vollum building also has no ventilation and seems to be filled with mold as every time I go into it I end up with bad allergies that clear up as soon as I leave the building. It would be a great setting for an episode of Grimm.

I have 2 children currently enrolled, and a 3rd who will go here when he's old enough. The new Elementary program is outstanding and I'm thrilled that my children will get to stay part of this community from age 2.5 through 6th grade. You could not ask for a better Montessori environment our education in general. I'm continually astounded by the level of reading, writing, math, and creativity I see the children at Harmony demonstrating. The fact that they've accomplished so much at such a young age while being so engaged and loving everything about what they're doing makes me want to go back and do school over again myself. We looked at a large number of Montessori programs in Portland and I could not be happier with the choice we ended up making. From the moment we toured this school it was clear that this is a truly special place.
