The financial aid process is horrendous and if you owe them money, they make it almost impossible to pay off debt. They don't listen to student concerns about the community, I know a lot more people who have chosen to transfer out than I know people who have graduated from here. I also know a lot of staff members who have left this institution due to gross policies and beliefs from other staff in higher, more influential positions. Just don't do it. Don't put yourself through the headache and heartbreak you'll experience at this institution.

IF you are interested: Park in the north parking lot on Steele and then cross the pedestrian bridge and you will find an awesome open space to walk your dog. I was never a student here, but I have utilized the beautiful surroundings for many reasons over the years from shooting The Wife and my engagement photos to visiting a great friend who works here to attending the graduation of aforementioned friend. Occasionally even just to watch over the Beaver Pond. Reed never fails to impress. The grounds, the buildings, the general overall feeling of the place just oozes academia. The impressive thing is that this is a private college and they could easily be selfish and chase interlopers off the property or have heavy handed security demanding to see student ID or visitor badges, but they don't. It's like they want to share this place with all of the area. Reed College understands that it is an important part of Portland and they embrace that.

When I politely asked why the promised call did not happen, Telahna responded defensively and shifted the responsibility onto me for not checking my email frequently enough. What concerned me most was that instead of focusing on resolving the issue efficiently, the interaction turned into an argument about who was at fault. This made the process longer and felt unproductive. In a professional setting, I believe it's more important to focus on solutions and clear communication rather than defending missteps. I hope future customer interactions are handled in a more solution-oriented and professional manner.

The head of the school is a Nurse Ratchett and doesn't like to be challenged but should be and often. If you can teach yourself this is the place because of the pace. The school itself sucks and I can't even imagine trying to pass with English as a second language- but the courses are the fastest and cheapest (especially if sponsored) way to go in Portland. Don't piss anyone off - they will retaliate. I even watched the director get served papers from a distraught former student (and laugh).
