I went to Dr. Roston three times and each time I left annoyed, but this last time was the worst! He didn't know how to answer any of my questions! He replied with "I don't know what you want me to tell you and how am I supposed to know?" When I had mentioned symptoms and was curious of what it may be. He walked out as I was still asking him questions. He types most of the time he is in the room, he has no bedside manners! The only thing I like there is his nurse and staff. Dr Roston has taken of my mother for the last 15years and she is 96 years old. I attribute her longevity to the wonderful care of dr Roston. He even calls her when she is sickening makes her feel that he really cares, and he does. She loves Dr Roston and so do I for the thoughtful and caring way he takes care of my mother. I have recommended many people to Dr Roston and they all feel the same way. As far as the complaints of waiting for long periods of time, call first and see how the doc is running. If you want a good internal medicine doctor or pulmonologist, Dr. Roston is the doctor for you. After my son returned from Africa with a severe case of malaria, I was confident that Dr. Roston would run all the correct tests and give him an in depth follow through. When my son's initial tests came back out of wack, Dr. Roston followed up and repeated the tests once again. His concern was genuine and I was confident with my son's care. Later, when a friend needed a doctor for a small lump on his face, there was no doubt who I would refer him to. And, my friend can confidentally say that Dr. Roston helped save his life, diagnosing him with testicular cancer (very rare find). Kudos to a wonderful doc. read more

Dr. Roston is a very smart doctor, that knows his stuff. Unfortunately he may think he knows too much stuff. You totally get the impression that he doesn't genuinely care about you. Despite the fact that he is polite, and you have his undivided attention when he is with you, he works quickly and is not careful about what he prescribes to you, and he did not inform me of side effects to extremely powerful drugs that he prescribed me with. Also, he has bad breath so I have to hold mine when he talks, either that or look away. They never follow up with blood test or exam results either. Oh and the wait. I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS end up waiting more than 45 minutes after my appointment time everytime I went there. read more

I discovered a few days after New Years 2005 , that the ulceration I had been seeing Dr. Randy Ginsberg, my podiatrist to treat. Had closed. I knew this was potentially dangerous to my health, having been a diabetic for over 35 years, and experiencing nearly every situation diabetes could surprise me with. I immeadietly checked myself into Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, Ca. For evaluation and treatment, as infection poses a very real threat to any diabetic, and I don't like to take chances with things I know to be hazardous to my overall health. Since I have had infections before, I informed the Emergency room doctors and nurses that I would most likely need Zosyn or another equally strong broad spectrum deep tissue antibiotic as soon as possible. For the most part I was ignored, even with my vast history and knowledge of my condition. I was admitted, then put on a variety of different than I had informed the staff a psudamonal infection in my case required. I ran (which my charts will reflect) a temperature of 102 degrees for well over a week. My attending physician Dr. Warren Roston came in the next morning from my admission to the hospital. I immeadiately informed Dr. Roston that I was relieved that a doctor that could order the opening of the recently closed ulcer so the infected materials and puss could be cleaned out to avoid further spreading of the infection or possibly gangrene. Dr. Roston's response to this I found shocking. He said ,"Well we;re going to try this antibiotic for a while and see if it works." I said well why not the one we know works? I went on to add that I think my wound needs to be cleaned out in addition to the antibiotics. Dr. Roston said in a very arrogant manner, "Who's the doctor, me or you?" I expressed to Dr. Roston that while he is the doctor, what he had told me runs contrary to my own experiences with diabetic foot infection. He told me not to worry about it. I did worry about it, and subsequently started making phone calls to get another opinion from my podiatrist who is very familiar with my situation, as I had been going to her office weekly to have the ulcer debreeded. I was not able to reach her, and left messages on her office machine. I was called back by Dr. Oswell, the doctors office that Dr. Ginsberg practiced at. Dr. Oswell called back a few days later and said that Dr. Ginsberg was at a podiatry convention or lecture, or something of that nature, and she would be informed upon her return. Nervous about the short time it takes for this type of infection to spread, I called the hospital administrator to get someone to change my attending physician. Without getting into too much more detail , They did nothing and as a result of Dr. Roston'e "God Complex" Had cost me dearly, by the time my podiatrist was able to make it to the hospital, it was already too late. I had to have 2" of what was a 3" heel pad amputated due to his unfathomable arrogance. His biggest concern was not for me the patient, but for himself, because the morning after the surgery that was required due to his total incompetence, his only concern he had and the only thing he could ask me was "Are you gonna sue me?" This is not a doctor anyone should see, as he ruined what is left of my life. I understand he is now retired, Thank God you total ego maniacal bastard! Thank God you no longer have the opportunity to ruin others lives as you did mine. Here it is 2015 and for 10 years I have had endless problems after the two years it took for me to walk again and the rest of what this hack has cost an otherwise promising life. May a similar or even worse fate befall you sir, you certainly deserve far less. If this submoric dramitization of a doctor had done what i asked when I arrived, I would have spent no more than a weekend in Cedar's , but his total lack of regard kept me there for 3 1/2 months. Dr.Roston was attending pulmonologist for my mother in law who died at Cedar Sinai at the age of 66. He had terrible bedside manners. He did not talk to my husband (patient's son), did no see his patient for weeks, did not return our calls, was very careless, arrogant, indifferent, callos and made some serious mistakes in her care and even refused to talk to my husband when he had other doctors tell him that his mother is going to die. I would not recommend him to anybody who is seriousely ill. read more

I went to see Dr. Roston for Epstein Barr and breathing issues. While I was talking to him and telling him my symptoms, he proceeded to peel big pieces of skin off of the top of his head and inspect them, without ever making eye contact with me. It was so disgusting that I almost gagged twice. They did blood work and did breathing tests. I was told that I was having bad asthma and sent home with an inhaler. They told me that if the inhaler made me worse or didn't work at all, that I should call right away, so they could put me on another one that might work better. I called 5 times over a course of 7 days and never got a call from the Dr. or the results of my blood work. It's basically a joke at this point. i am now going to a highly recommended specialist in a few days. I would never recommend anyone to this Dr.! read more

Dr. Warren Roston really helped me during a tough time in my life. He was a very dedicated physician whose work ethical and expertise were the main reason I was able to gain my quality of life back. His office was run like any doctor's office you would imagine. Some days I would be let right in and others there might be a 15b or 20 minute wait. I have found Dr. Warren Roston to be one of the very few doctors out that that truly cares about his patients. I first came to his office with shortness of breath and after an exam and a few Xrays, it turned out I had pneumonia. Not only did he treat it (with the correct medication the first time around) but called me at home a few days later (while he was on vacation) to see how I was feeling. He makes a point of being up to date with all the latest medical findings so not to waste your time or his with guessing. He is extremely knowledgable and would rather be a bit conservative than hastily prescribing something that may or may not work. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes in his waiting room. The staff are professional and have their act totally together. Only on one occassion, was I required to wait an extra 30 minutes in his examination room. He had noticed something on my Xray and wanted to confer with a specialist in his building. Fortunately, it was nothing to be concerned about, but it was worth the wait. I have referred numerous friends and co-workers to Doctor Roston and they all feel the same way I do. He is family. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME or your gas!! I was looking for a primary care physician and was referred to Dr. Roston. The first time I went to see him about a month ago I had went to inquire about what i thought was an internal hemorrhoid. He did his check and said he didn't feel anything but prescribed me cortizone cream as a suppository anyways. Two days pass by and I was experiencing incapacitating pain. I called into the office and he was so dismissive about my pain level and just sent me on a referral to a gastro surgeon specialist. When I'm able to get in the specialist didn't even have to see me for more than 5-7 minutes before diagnosing what i once thought was an internal hemorrhoid was actually an anal fissure. Dr. Roston didn't even think about that possibility during my visit. That experience i let pass. Well, about a week ago i went in strictly for a referral for an ENT and tried calling first and explaining why i needed it, but yet again, he disregarded everything I explained to him on the phone and told me to let him diagnose me and to come in despite having had already gone to cedars-sinani urgent care and was satisfied with that visit; urgent care doctors aren't allowed to give referrals. I went along with it. Got in there, told him my symptoms and long history of what has been going on this yr with my tonsils. He said "didn't you already tell me this over the phone?" and he Doesn't give you any direct eye contact when speaking to you. He looks at them and says he doesn't see anything. I told him I saw white on them. He wanted a rapid strep culture and I said okay fine. I knew it would be negative because i have had strep throat plenty of times and know the symptoms. After the nurse does the test it's negative. I told her I could have told you that. And I informed her that the doctor said he didn't see anything on my tonsils but as soon he left I check in the mirror in the exam room to see if maybe it had disappeared like the usual thing that happens when you get to the doctor all of a sudden your symptoms magically are gone.lol well, I STILL saw the white on there. So I explained that to the nurse and saying I don't know what to do because he's basically telling me I'm making it up. She alerted the doctor of my concerns. He came back in and said "so the test came back negative for strep. I don't see anything on your tonsils so there isn't anything more I can or will do from this point." I said "I know it's not strep, I tried to tell you then when explaining my history which you can look up in cedars-sinai system. I've had strep before and am well aware of its symptoms." He interrupts and says, "well I don't know what you want me to do. I'm not going to give you antibiotics--"" I cut him off to say "I know that! I didn't come in here to see if it was strep throat nor to get antibiotics." He cuts me off to say "do you want a referral is that what you want?" I said "yes!! That's what I have been telling you the entire time since the first phone call. I just needed an ENT referral to determine about the pattern of my tonsil infections this yr because an urgent care doctor at cedars said I would probably need a tonsillectomy." I could tell he was aware that I was not pleased at this point because he had just spent 5 minutes trying to tell me there's nothing wrong and that he doesn't see what I'm seeing in my throat. I told him "I don't know what you're not seeing that I'm seeing but what I'm telling you doctor is that what I'm seeing is not what my normal tonsils look like!" So he finally tells me he can give me a referral. I am not going back to see him, I have never in my 25 years of life thus far before had a doctor try to tell me that I'm making up symptoms and that he doesn't know what to do. I think it's time for him to soon upgrade the prescription of his glasses so he can see clearly into someone's throat or into retirement soon. He also told me none of my neck glands were swollen when in fact TWO of them were and were hurting might I add as well. He doesn't think outside of the box like in the anal fissure scenario, he didn't even suggest that it could be that especially when he didn't feel anything when he checked. He just throws in the towel and then doesn't listen attentively to his patients. This could have all been avoided if he were to just actually listen to me from the beginning and what I was trying to explain to him. And it was so insulting for him to undermine the authority I have over my own body and self-awareness. Nobody knows your own body as well as you do, at least I can say that for me. It made me feel as though he just wanted me to come in so he can get paid for a visit by my insurance and didn't really care to attend to my actual needs since he was so adamant about me coming in, but then had to argue with him just to get a referral anyways once he decided to acquiesce from insulting my own intelligence of my body. In 2000, I had a waterline break in my loft. Mold grew everywhere and I developed many problems including in my lungs. When allergy testing revealed nothing using usual tests for molds and other allergens but further testing revealed rather severe ELISA test reactions to mold TOXINS, and no inhalants or other medications from my allergist worked to stop constant coughing and sputum production, I was referred to Dr. Roston. At that time, he was at Century City. I was given a full panel of lung function tests, which I passed with flying colors while still having to pause and cough up sputum. Dr. Roston said he didn't know anything about mold or how to interpret my ELISA test. I was given a prescription for a spirometry appliance. Dr. Roston was very nice personally but didn't seem inclined to do any further investigation of a rather unusual case. It is now 2013 and I still have lung problems...get bronchitis at the drop of a hat, which often turns into something worse. During this time, my PCP sent me back to Dr. Roston at least once for recurring symptoms.....remembered my name, very cheery in asking how I am (how does he THINK I am...been referred back to his office) Passed all tests once again. Cut to 2012, still plagued by coughing up sputum on and off. By this point am getting sick every winter. In 2011, had bronchitis or flu that segued into whooping cough...in bed for months, thought I would die. Was given Z-Paks over the phone by PCP, which usually works...and no, I don't ask for or like to take antibiotics and try to get well without them. Eventually got better. So in March 2012 I get some lunger thing again....thank you, person who sat next to me on a plane and coughed all over me from Houston to L.A. I put myself to bed, Stay in bed for over a week with progressively bad coughing, aches, chills, fever....so I figure I have the flu. Nothing to do for that but ride it out. But another week goes by and I feel worse so I call my PCP and she gives me a Z-Pak again. Doesn't work, coughing gets worse, unable to sleep, feel like I'm going to pop an ovary and even slight traces of blood. So she sends me back to Dr. Roston. Before I go to see him, I haul out the spirometry machine and my lung function is of Olympic caliber, as usual, yet feel I'm going to die. Dr. Roston is his usual cheery self, asks how I've been, blahblahblah. He listens to my chest..seems clear, blood ox fine, show off my Olympian prowess w/ the puffer...and yet I'm coughing up unmentionable w/ traces of blood into tissues in his office. His solution ? Give me another z-Pak and send me home....where I proceed to get much worse. By this time I'm in such pain coughing that I have to grab my toes to avoid using my diaphragm or risk ripping it...at least, that's the way it feels. I finish the Z-Pak, go back to see him. And yeah, as other people have mentioned....no eye contact, focused on his computer screen. Just can't figure out why I'm not better and sends me for an x-ray, which was clear. By this time, I've told him several times that since the mold episode my thyroid function has collapsed and I'm on thyroid medication, and I've told him that I've read that hypothyroidism can make one vulnerable to respiratory problems. His response ? "Well, I don't know anything about thyroid." I think a pulmonologist should know a LITTLE about that, especially since it can affect your heart. He gives me samples of various inhaled steroids, all of which I've taken before. He wants me to try again. And he gives me a prescription for CIPRO. I ask him if he's sure there's no problem taking these meds when I have a thyroid condition... I've read that some of them are contraindicated, and he tells me.. silly, it's fine. He wants me to start the CIPRO right away and since it's a Big Gun and I feel like The Alien is going to burst out of my lungs at any minute, I comply. But he gives me some cups and tells me to spit in them over a period of time and then run them back to the office., which despite my chills and fever and weakness (because by now I've been in bed for months AGAIN) I do. About a week later I get a call from his office. I have pseudomonas bacteria in my lungs. Which can kill you, btw. And they make an appointment for me to come back and see the doctor in about 5 days. SAY WHAT ? So I go online and research pseudomonas and find out that Z-Pak and CIPRO are contraindicated for this problem, that I should have been given KEFLEX....and that inhaled steroids, which had only made me less able to breathe, were contraindicated too. And..BONUS ! Steroids and CIPRO, are contraindicated for hypothyroidism too and at the very least can affect levels of the hormones in your blood. And why no sputum test from the beginning ? When I asked him this he didn't reply, told me he wasn't giving me more antibiotics, sent me home. Later that day, called and fired me as a patient. Wouldn't refer to another doctor either. My advice...RUNnnnnnnnnnnnn. read more

He's a good doctor, who asks the right questions, and seems intuitive in his responses. Smart physician, nice man. Office is horribly run. I usedto go to his Cent City office and never waited more than a half hour. I went to Dr. Roston and was very noticeably sick. I bring this up b/c the waiting room was full of people and it was not fair for them to have to sit with such a sick pt. for so long. I was kept waiting for over 2 and a half hours. I cannot wait that long again and am looking for another doctor. read more

He only refers to the best doctors one could see. He's an amazing listener and even has a wonderful sense of humor! When you're in the examination room, you feel as if you're his only patient with the attention you get and the time he spends with you. He has always been there for me and my entire family. He's great with all ages, from young adults through seniors. He has saved two of my girlfriend's lives with his ability to identify problems prior to them causing any damage. He's always there visiting you in the hospital if you've had surgery and works in tandem with your other doctors as a team player on your behalf. I have referred a multitude of people to him and everyone is a happy camper! They just don't make the Dr. Roston mold anymore! I have to say this doctor has mixed reviews. I went to him after an MRI for my shoulder injury revealed scattered infiltrates in my lungs. We set an appointment for Monday morning and they told me that I could tell my job I'd be back by 10 since he was fitting me in BEFORE any of his appointments. I waited over an hour. He came in huffing and puffing, told me I had wax in my ears! Told me I probably had this very serious MAI infection. Told me I'd have to have a bronchoscopy, which I scheduled. He gave me nothing for my racking cough and had the bedside manner of a toad. Then, I went in for the bronchoscopy... he was late again and as they were going to do the anesthesia, he said, "Don't know if I told you yet but there is a chance I'll puncture the lung during the procedure and have to cut you open. But it's only happened to me once." Unbelievable. But did the procedure anyway. No medicine again, or consultation or follow up call. Got a second doctor lined up, Dr. Roy Artal, who I saw the next day. they are both at Cedars so Dr. Artal sat me down and went through the results with me, did another bloodwork I needed, and called two days later to tell me it wasn't MAI but a staph infection which I could cure with one week of antibiotics. The night and day aspect of these two doctors was amazing! I highly recommend Artal and, of course, say stay away from Roston. read more
