Sam the approachable office manager is very helpful and efficient, he goes out of his way to assist even after clinic hours and answers my questions and concerns. Dr. Shay is sweet and competent! My doctor, Dr. Madrid is very patient and kind, she listened to all my concerns and understood my hesitations without judgement, and then presented the best options to take for the betterment of my health. Ok first things first I came here in a vulnerable time when I needed STD screening and Pap smear. The doctor Shradha Patel had some of the worst bedside manner I've ever gotten. 0 personality, that's fine. But she continued to lecture me about cancer screenings using fear tactics ("I knew a 25 year old who died from breast cancer bc she wasn't doing daily exams"). Mind you, I'm here literally for a cancer screening - so why are you trying to freak me out?? Next, the management. When I left, I said "do I need to schedule my follow up?" And the lady at the desk said no, your doctor scheduled it. You'll get a confirmation in your email. Never got any correspondence so I assumed no news is good news and forgot about it. Then I get the most unprofessional, goofy ahh text threatening me with a $250 no show fee. I was still able to take my telehealth call even though nobody told me about it, which makes this even crazier. I still had my appointment. There are so many clinics and better offices to be taken care of in LA. Just steer clear of this sh*t show. read more

I usually don't leave negative review but this doctor's office is absurdly negligent. My psychiatrist used to actively VAPE during my appointments with her and neglected to assist me with necessary paper work. It took 5+ visits, multiple follow up calls/emails, the psychiatrist leaving the practice to finally receive urgent school paperwork. The manager Sam has avoided my calls and numerous request from his employees to contact me. read more

It took me leaving this practice and going to a real office to fully grasp the dysfunction of this place. Frequent annoyances with this place as you can see with my previous review but after a shockingly terrible appointment with Dr. Sweere I knew I couldn't keep going here. After getting my antidepressants through my GP for years I was forced to have an appointment with this woman for a refill on my lexapro only, and not the Xanax (low dose, .5) which I also have for panic attacks. I have been on my medication plan for many years with no issues. Within the first couple minutes of the appointment she went on a very strong willed anti-benzo rant, was extremely contentious when I asked why we were talking about Xanax since I was there for my lexapro, and without asking me any questions about my medications, treatment plan (which includes weekly therapy for the last 10+ years), or goals, she aggressively cut my Xanax prescription to 6 (keep in mind, I wasn't here for Xanax, one prescription for that typically lasts me months), suggesting I was misusing my medication (despite the original prescription coming from their office) and wanted to up my Lexapro from 20mg to 40-50mg. Keep in mind, the FDA does not recommend a dosage of lexapro higher than 20mg. Only sometimes is this higher dose recommend for EXTREME OCD cases, which I do not have. Doing some research on her I was able to find she is clinically diagnosed as bipolar and even as recently as COVID was in a manic episode and still unmedicated. I don't know about you but this is not the kind of person I want in charge of my mental health or mediations. During this research I also found other instances of her contentious and rude attitude towards others online. Again, not who I want giving me medical advice. (See added screenshots from online). I am shocked this woman is allowed to continue her "medical practice" and I feel bad for anyone who allows her to treat them. I'm now at cedars with a medical team who is competent, does not give me problems when I need refills, or make me come in every 3 months when I need a refill to give blood/urine tests. It's a shame to jump on here and see that The Doctor has had a number of bad ratings. But what are ya gonna do. I haven't had any issues with them. At all. In fact, they've gone out of their way to make sure I'm clear on and secure about charges and what my insurance covers. They haven't done bloodwork or implemented any charges outside of my coverage. My favorite doctor (Alajajian) left, but Madrid is great! Patel is good, too. While she's not my go-to, I like her and think she'll be hitting stellar status. Also, I've been super happy with the referrals I've gotten from The Doctor. Super happy. The only other thing I can think of to wrap of this review is Sam, the office manager, He's A+ material. Don't let the stock photography or decor fool you. Stay far away from this office. I don't even know where to begin on the lack of trust I have for this office. It's a constant rotating roster of doctors and nurses. They have twice sent my bloodwork to out of network labs resulting in surprise $600 bills. And there have been so many times that they didn't even include the actual tests that were needed in the first place, so I had to go BACK and get more blood drawn. I won't get into the worst of it, but just know that the "specialities" they advertise towards the community is entirely BS and you are better off going to the LGBT Center or APLA. I realize that as patients, we always need to advocate for ourselves. But, this office really puts that to the test. And if you let your guard down at ALL, you will get screwed - financially or health wise. The last bill I got from an out-of-network lab will be the last straw for me, and I'm really sorry it took me so long to stay somewhere I feel so unsafe. read more

These guys have sworn up and down to me multiple times in a row that my visit would be free with my insurance, and then they send me bills for hundreds of dollars. I guess just lying to customers is their business strategy but I doubt that's legal. It's not like my insurance terms are confusing - I have one of the largest insurance companies and no other service I use ever seems to have this "problem". Not sure how these guys are still running, they need to be investigated and shut down. Use any other service! read more

I'm giving 4 stars today & not 2 stars as originally planned due to the wonderful experience I had with Dr. Todd. He heard me out understood my frustrations with previous providers & took the time to get to know me & my medical needs. He's extremely passionate about taking care of his patients. His vibe & energy are great & we are already beginning to get my medical needs addressed again & back on track. Unlike other office providers who didn't take time, or care to relate to their patients. They neglected my care, failed to treat me, while being entirely unprofessional. He unfortunately came into a mess he's trying to clean up. I look forward to the progress. I would recommend giving this place another shot if you have had similar issues as me. BEWARE: The Doctor LA will try to scam you. I was forced to make a virtual appointment with a provider, Dr. Kit Ross, in order to get a refill of my medication, despite the fact that my insurance and state law only require meetings every three months. I then received a surprise bill for more than I had been charged for any other appointment. When I asked why, the amount I was charged mysteriously quadrupled. When I contested it, the amount was mysteriously halved. I requested an invoice and saw I had been double-charged different amounts for the same appointment -- again, more than I had ever been charged for refill appointments in the past. When I requested an explanation, none was provided. I was told to take it up with my insurance. As Dr. Kit Ross was leaving the practice, I suspect that he was forcing patients like myself to make appointments they did not need, and which he knew their insurance would not cover, in order to make as much money as possible in his remaining time at this office. He spent 5 minutes on Zoom with me, asking routine questions, and for this I am now being charged hundreds of dollars. Needless to say, I am contesting the bill and taking my healthcare elsewhere. read more

I've been going here since I moved to LA, in 2017. Since then, service has gone way downhill. The doctors themselves seem caring and considerate, but recently they've been leaving the practice. I also was seeing the Doctor's in-house psych, but there's so much turnover, I can't get consistent care on that end either. Finally, the admin team are so hard to get ahold of. There have been two times in the past year where I was sent the wrong link to a telehealth appointment (which I almost missed), or no link at all. Scheduled an appointment for hormone therapy through zocdoc which said my insurance was accepted here. Took forever to get a call back. When I got a voicemail they said actually no your insurance isn't accepted here. I tried to cancel but couldn't get anyone on the phone. Waited on hold before I was hung up on by the system without speaking to a rep. Luckily I was able to get back into my zocdoc and cancel through there. If I didn't cancel they would have charged me. Be careful about the misleading insurance information online! Also it's a lot easier to contact the office over text than over the phone, which seems a bit backwards. read more

I love the doctors! I've been here since 2020! I stopped going to UCLA because of the care that I receive from Dr. Thomas T. He is kind and he hears me as a person; and, not as a number to get out of the office within 15 mins. However, speaking to Nick on the phone is soooooo frustrating. He makes simple situations more complex than they need to be. Asking for a simple transfer of my script from one pharmacy to another had me on the phone for longer than 20 mins due to him not properly comprehending what I am requesting. read more

This doctor's office has some sketchy business practices and overall a very difficult process for patients. The reviews on google have to be either fake or one time visits. I am not from California and struggled to find a doctor's office that was kind and attentive. My first visit was with a doctor who ended up leaving after my first visit and never returned to the practice. My vitals were all fine, but she was telling me I should go to see a specialist and gave me a "STAT" referral for the hospital. When I got there, they told me there was no such thing as a "STAT" referral. Because it had only been 10 minutes since I left the doctor, I called and was told she went home for the weekend. Go figure. I went to an urgent care and they told me I was fine. I should've listened to my gut then because the months that followed were absolutely HORRENDOUS. Tommy was the best part of this practice, even though at times I could tell I was annoying him with all of the questions about my health. He was thorough and did his due diligence. Because I pay out of pocket costs for services out of network, my insurance deductible was met a month after I started seeing them. However, they kept saying I had co-pays due and eventually I had to call my insurance company and have them speak with someone at the front desk to tell them there was no patient responsibility. I didn't just do this once, I had to do it TWICE. The second time was with a woman named Marge who treated me so rudely that the insurance rep after the three-way call, apologized to me for her behavior. I honestly felt bad for him and I ended up asking to speak with his manager to give him kudos for hanging in there and defending me. By the end of that call, it turned out that they owed me for overpayment because they kept making me pay a co-pay I didn't have. I was told I would be contacted by Mohammed who ironically never called. Then I was told that I would get a check for the remaining amount. No check came, ever (I let it go because it was $25.00). I ended up starting the process to begin a formal complaint with the Board of Health for discrimination because I believed they were purposely making things hard on me (now I am wondering if it is a common experience- See below reviews) . Calling in would always cause severe panic attacks and anxiety. My blood pressure around this time was so high I almost had to be on meds for it (I have never had high blood pressure). I recently had to reach out to confirm this month JULY 2023 my health records were sent to my primary care doctor in a new state in November and I was told that they didn't see that they had been sent. I would normally pardon this but I have brain tumors and it was very important. After chatting, I was able to get a link for notes, but it was not helpful. Recently I received a bill for $7.07 in JULY 2023, and when I called to ask why they said it was from a visit back in SEPTEMBER 2022. They said because of all the patients they had, they were behind. $7.07 isn't much, but it is more about why I am getting billed 9 MONTHS later AND it wasn't itemized. I called 4-5 days ago and was told to discuss the itemized receipt, I have to speak with none other than Mohammed, who didn't call me back last year. Seriously, I have to be honest... find healthcare elsewhere. While Tommy (and MAX) was the best part of this practice, the billing/insurance and admin situation will absolutely break you DOWN. This type of stress while dealing with my brain tumors, stress and anxiety is unbearable. I dread any interaction with the people handling billing/admin/insurance. As soon as I moved back to our home state and re-established care with my old primary doctor, my blood pressure was normal and remained stable. I don't think this was a coincidence. I gave this place a chance despite the reviews, and it was a mistake. Heed the reviews, please. Take care of yourself! read more

My first appointment here went pretty smooth. I called and scheduled my appointment and they asked for my insurance and the card I wanted on file. I was then prompted via email to sign up for Onpatint before my appointment. It's kind of like MyChart and I like that I can talk to my doctor there as needed. I checked in there before my appointment so I wouldn't have to do any paper work when I got the office. The atmosphere and music made me feel safe because it was upbeat and familiar. I love the staff as well. Dr.Tripodis was able to translate my concerns to assist me the best way possible. He said he will send my lab results to the onpatient app and follow up soon. I'm really happy to call him my new primary doctor. Shoutout to his assistant and the lovely woman that talked me through taking my blood. Absolutely abysmal. I was seeing The Doctor's mental health "doctors" to manage my psychiatric medication since my psychiatrist shut down for Covid. All was good for almost two years until I had surgery, followed by extreme complications. When I had my next appointment with The Doctor, they said "wow, you have a lot of providers, let our office reach out to the hospital to straighten things out and get you back on your medications. You shouldn't have to worry about this." Great, right? Lmao. Two weeks later, the exact same not-a-doctor accused me of having an "agenda" and asked me if I knew it was inappropriate to give Ativan to babies (?????) when I asked him if he had been able to connect with the doctors at the hospital system. He said *I* was not holding up my end of the bargain despite the fact that I have no control over the hospital and its policies and procedures. I have never been treated so poorly in my life and I've been left to go cold turkey on three psychiatric medications that could potentially have dire side effects. Never trust these jokers. I work in healthcare. The nurse or PA here, Judy, was extremely rough with administering a vaccine shot. Have never had someone inject me IM with such violent technique. When I returned for a second vaccine, she was extremely rude and denied me a second shot because I was 15 minutes late (my fault), although they were completely empty at the time. But she apparently remembered me from the first shot, when I made a comment about her rough injection technique. Finally, she told me the vaccine system shut down. And after that the vaccine dose expired. Then she claimed that this was their last dose, and they would not be ordering more. This HCW made me feel very unsafe and I would not recommend coming here for any healthcare needs. read more

He is always on his phone(doing something else) most of the time when I am talking about my medical issues, and he usually suggests some d*m ideas because he doesn't listen to you at all. Finding the right PCP is so incredibly difficult, but The Doctor is the place to go. They're an incredibly inclusive space, and while they cater to LGBTQIA+ populations they make everyone feel welcome. The office is very clean, and the staff is both professional and personable. Dr. David is an absolute delight, he made me feel like my concerns were heard. He also offered me medical advice that immediately improved my quality of life. Before I found this amazing place I used to hate the doctors office. It was always stuffy and boring. When I moved to California, I didn't have a primary care team until one day I came across The Doctors. Making an appointment was so easy, I simply did it online and they had same/next day appointments. When I came in for my appointment I was greeted and then show this electronic check in portal which was super User friendly. The team and providers at the doctors is truly incredible. From the front desk, Max is always smiling and welcoming you to the office. Eric is an amazing nurse who has an amazing bed side manner and makes you feel at ease. He can even be caught singing show tunes. The doctors and NPs have been so helpful and informative. They really care and provide amazing follow up. Over all this office/practice is incredible. Every room is named after one an amazing female performer. They even do labs on site, so you can get everything done in one place. read more
