Excellent pick-up laundry service. I have been meaning to write this review for a while, and am finally getting around to it. I have used this company for pick-up (with return of my laundry about 5 hours later) regular laundry service (that is, regular water washing and drying, not dry cleaning) from my hotel a couple of times. Each time, the women who took my information and billing info on the phone were very clear, competent and helpful. I found the pricing to be very fair and reasonable, and the overall service time, from pick-up to return, to be amazingly fast. I originally found this service via a Google search for nearby pick-up laundry services while staying in the French Quarter, and I later found, to my pleasure, that my hotel front desk often recommends this service to guests who inquire about such services. Best of all, there were no unexpected surprises or glitches, as can so often occur with pick-up laundry services, due to the nature of the beast. And the women working at the laundry communicated very clearly and accurately with me in our several telephone calls. Oh, and it may have been just a mistake (albeit a kindly one) but each time I have used this service, I declined the fee-based folding service (after all, blue jeans, t-shirts, and men's underwear hardly need to be folded...!), and yet, each time, when my laundry was returned, I found to my surprise that my laundry had been folded free of charge! Living primarily in NYC and London, and having lived in Nola during grad school, I know dry cleaning here is basically extortion (not much demand for dry cleaning, unlike NYC or London), so getting a dress cleaned and a water based stain removed would be very overpriced, but didn't want to risk it fully settling into the dress permanently. They ship off their dry cleaning, and the lady at the washing well stated she didn't know if they could get it out, which is fine. I assumed like most dry cleaners, they simply wouldn't attempt to take the stain out if they felt they couldn't get out paint, rather than essentially bleaching and destroying a $300 silk dress. They somehow made three tiny drops of white paint that I could have lived with spread into three different 4 inch bleach marks along the bottom half of the dress which can be seen from a room away. And not only that, she wanted to charge the extortion rate for destroying my dress! Only upon returning and complaining again and demanding to know who she sent it to did she even remotely suggest she would give a partial refund, by threatening that we better not call the facility that she shipped it out too. She further insisted that we just wanted a free dry cleaning job?! Living in New York and London where the costs-of-living are over five times that of New Orleans, and happily getting things dry cleaned there on a biweekly basis, no, I did not want a partial refund and an absolutely destroyed, never to be worn again, expensive dress. I understand that silk and dry-cleaning are very rare down here, but it is absolutely ludicrous to me but I just paid to have an expensive garment destroyed. Thankfully, the facility which she threatened we better not call has been slightly more helpful, and at least is trying in some way to rectify the situation (likely won't be fixed, but don't destroy my 100% silk dress and threaten me). read more

The ladies there are nice enough but this place is a rip off. I had a bookbag size load of clothes (could fit in 1 washer). It weighed 11 pounds and they wanted to charge me about $34 for wash and fold! When I said that was way too expensive they said that I could fill the washer myself and then pay $18!!!! This is ONE LOAD OF LAUNDRY. Maybe New Orleans laundry prices are higher than I am used to, but I have been to many a wash and fold and have never paid that much money. read more

Caveat: I haven't gone here, yet, but the lady who answered the phone was very friendly. I think what (partially) accounts for the negative reviews is their unusual pricing system for wash & fold. Rather than charge per pound, they charge $15.75 per 8lb load, for which "you get your own machine." Then they charge you 50 cents extra for soap. Then tax. So if you have one pound over 8lbs, you're already at $32 before tax and soap. I can see that biting people in the rear who don't expect it. But it's still expensive: even maxing out machines in 8lb increments works out to about $2/lb before tax and soap. They will pick up nearby for another $15. They are in the quarter though, so these prices come as no small surprise. I'm sure their rent aint cheap either. read more

Way too expensive. I paid $35 for 10 lbs of wash and fold and $28 to dry clean one simple dress. $3 a pound for wash and fold. Wow!! Not worth the price. I found a guy on Elysian Fields who does a better job, actually folded my socks, for just $1 a pound. read more

Really overpriced for what it is ($18 for 4 lbs of single load wash/fold), but then again it's a laundromat in the French Quarter and it's cheaper than the hotel prices. AWFUL hours. The latest you can turn in a load is 3PM if you want to get it the same day. Because of this it might not be a great choice for people here on business. read more

Amazing service and the pricing is pretty fair. We took a train from Los Angles to New Orleans and then hopped on a 7 day cruise. We decided to stay in town for 4 days and we needed some clean clothes. Our clothes were washed, dried, folded then bagged for pick up within 2 hours. Come on that's pretty amazing. The employees were friendly and helpful. So greatful that they were here for us!! read more

My husband and I took some shorts, jeans and tshirt for wash and fold service. We paid $19 for this service. When my husband returned to pick them up the next morning the clothes were still damp and VERY wrinkled. It appears that we paid for wash, dry somewhat and crumple up service. I had to iron everything...even the jeans for them to be presentable. Not an example of money well spent. Spend the extra time and save money and do it yourself. read more

I don't know where the negative reviews can be coming from. I've been using the Washing Well for over 30 years. The staff all know me by name and I know all of them by name ... they all call me "Mr. Robert." My laundry is always done within a couple of hours, and it is always done beautifully. Miss Flo has owned and operated the place since 1949. My laundry is always beautifully cleaned and perfectly folded, and they put my shirts and pants on hangers for me. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than doing it myself in a Laundromat, but that's the point ... I don't have to do it myself. And the people there take care of me and my clothes. I am very grateful that we have the Washing Well in the Quarter. It makes our lives a lot easier. read more

Very friendly! Excellent service! Very fast! In NOLA for vacation before we got on a cruise. Didn't want to sit in a laundry mat so we dropped our stuff off and explored while they did our laundry. WORST PLACE EVER! We had two medium-sized loads of laundry, which they wanted $44 for us to "do ourselves" which seemed to be basically letting them do everything but the folding. The ladies were curt and seemed annoyed we were there. Even in NYC we don't have anything approaching that expensive for laundry service. Save yourself - walk two blocks further North on Bourbon for Suds Dem Duds, and either do it yourself or drop off, at least they won't rip you off. read more
