I already gave a 4 start review for location, front desk and rooms. This review is for the restaurant. I have been here a week and have been having breakfast at the buffet. My room price includes breakfast off the real menu or the buffet, I think. My status gets me two breakfasts off the $16 menu (for me and a guest). Yesterday, I wanted the bagel and salmon off the $16 menu and I wanted some bacon and fruit from the buffet. The server said I would need to pay for the buffet. There went my day ... I was triggered because they kept insisting I'd need to pay for the buffet. I went to the front desk and the manager took care of it and explained to the server that those two selections would be covered. Fast forward to this morning. I decided I'd just get two entrees off the $16 menu. I went with the waffles with macerated strawberries , and then got the standard 2 eggs , potatoes and sausage - something sweet and something salty). I thought all of this would be made fresh to order being that it came off the menu. The potatoes were room temperature as was the waffle ... could not use cold butter on a room temperature waffle. The macerated strawberries were like Ghiradelli strawberry sauce. The eggs were freshly made. And, no, Ms. Server, this is not good. Everything has not been made right - in response to her comment, "well, we made it right and everything turned out ok" (from yesterday). No, today, there was added insult to injury. Where have any quality checks been made along the way? I have decided that I could never be a server because I would refuse to serve food that did not meet the expected quality standards. What's on me is getting irritated both days right at the beginning of my day. Now I know better and will avoid all restaurant staff to the best of my ability for the duration of my stay and just get the buffet where the food is hotter than the menu order. read more

Overall a nice choice in the area as far as Marriott properties go - the rooms are quite nice and larger than a standard room with the suite style - an outer area with a sink, fridge, tv, couch, and a desk to work and French doors separated from the bedroom and bathroom area. No concierge room for Platinum members but you can use the restaurant for a few breakfast menu options in the morning. In the room they had two small water bottles chilling for me already which was nice. read more

Pretty solid experience so far at this inn. Rates were pretty normal for the area and when I checked in today, there were no issues with finding my reservation and getting myself situated. Having to login with a Bonvoy account for free wifi ($8.95 if not) was a little annoying for some of my coworkers but I had an account so it wasn't that big of a deal. The rooms are very spacious and mine was quite clean and orderly when I came in. The bathroom was also clean upon arrival. I haven't had any issues with noise and if I don't update this review by the end of my three day stay assume that there are no issues. This Suites location is very nicely situated next to a whole array of restaurants and even a mall so that is super convenient. Would recommend for a business trip! read more

This is an interesting location, it's a vintage Marriott suites (not a Marriott Fairfield or a Residence Inn) and you can tell it's from the 80's. Architecture is a blast from the past, it's very dark and cavernous inside. Parking garage is below. It's a part of a shopping complex which has some restaurants and shops if you are staying there and bored or hungry. I did notice a sign indication renovations are coming soon. Checking was easy and the staff member was very nice and helpful. She helped us with calling a very early shuttle to Dulles, and even mailed a package for me! We had dessert and drinks at the lobby bsr The room was pretty good--clean and although a little dated as a whole, they try to add some touches to make it seem s but more modern. Clean bedding and carpet was without spots. We had such a short stay and we're tired so there wasn't too much more to report. read more

I went to the website to book and was transferred unknowingly to a 3rd party booking reservation.com, email from lodging.com and reservation ended up being thru price line. Used my cash app visa, instead of my bank card. Rep did name wrong and email wrong. Hotel could not find reservations paid 181.18. contacted hotel and cash app, they did not help hung up. MARRIOT STAFF WAS AMAZING !!!Hershel, Ahnwar, Fatima, Jeffery, Kenny and Judy. all tried to help. Including emailing me and returning calls. I had to rebook. Christine was able to find 2 reservations for me when I only needed 1. The Amazing Manager Shukri RESOLVED the double booking, was very patient and kind. I ended up extending my stay. The staff at this Marriott went far above what was necessary. the hotel itself I had a heating issues and tv connectivity, those were correctes I was given another room. All rooms were clean, roomy, had sleeper sofa, fridge etc. Bed slept wonderfully, I will be ordering the sheets from their website. The shower had great pressure with double shower heads. The breakfast was amazing Judy, the young lady hostess was very kind and attentive. I have mobility issues and she helped and made sure I had all I needed as well as the other guest. The food was the best I've ever had at a hotel. The restaurant staff kept food plentiful, hot and fresh.. I highly recommend this location and will be rebooking for the another weekend on a girl's trip.. read more

Picked this spot since it's close to the airport and I wasn't planning to get a rental car. Airport shuttle is free and runs every 30 minutes. It's at a great spot since it's right in Worldgate Centre. Plenty of food, entertainment, etc just walking distance. The only gripes I have is they're doing constructions on 1st and 2nd floor and somehow I ended up on 3rd right above the construction floor (is beyond me) The place didn't look like they're sold out so I don't get why they couldn't put guests on higher floor. The construction noise starts at 8am sharp even though they're supposed to do "prep" work only and major noise doesn't start 10am till 3pm. And oh btw, if you need to shower during major noise hours, good luck with that! Yes water is SHUT OFF during constructions (just the shower, sink and toilets still works) Again I think they could plan this out better with at least 1 or 2 floor buffer zone between construction floors and guest floors. Another gripe I have is the stairs access during construction. My room was extremely close to the stairs and since it's only 3rd floor, I figured I just walk down and exit that way. BIG MISTAKE! For some reasons the exit door is LOCKED, I don't know about you but I thought that's a fire safety issue. My last gripe is the on-site parking. While the shopping center has plenty of parking spaces, a lot of them are marked 20 minutes only or it's for the other businesses so you're not supposed to leave your car there overnight. The hotel parking is small and just doesn't seem big enough for everyone. read more

First time staying at this hotel -- wow! If you're flying out of IAD, this is definitely the place to stay. The rooms were spotless, the beds super comfortable, and the front desk staff was always friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping did a wonderful job too. Just look at the room I had -- it was great! The lounge was also very clean and pleasant, with excellent service. That said, you might want to consider adding another staff member -- Kendal was fantastic but clearly stretched too thin. Seems slightly dated from the outside and the lobby, but room was updated. Nice furnishings and large TV, but lighting was too dim, especially at the bathroom sink/mirror. Mattress a bit mushy. Upon arriving to the hotel, various entrances were closed and I was directed by signage to and underground garage and a vestibule that smelled like garbage. Not the best entrance, but capital improvements are necessary I suppose. The elevator was clean and well lit. Upon arriving to the check in desk late at night, I observed the clerk walk away as I approach and overheard their personal phone conversation for the next 3-5 minutes. When attempting to check in, there was a glitch with the computer and the hotel clerk started swearing various expletives. Fortunately, not all was lost and they eventually moved over to the other machine and miraculously managed to provide me with a room key. On the positive side, my room was quiet, although that may have simply been the function of it being near empty. Moving forward, I will probably seek other nearby hotels. Swearing in front of guests due to computer issues is really not acceptable. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!! AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS FOR DAY USE! I had a long layover at IAD so I made a reservation here for day use from 8-2 which cost me $150. I was informed upon check-in that the hotel was being renovated. They told me a quiet room wouldn't be possible, as I requested this DAYS ago. The right thing to do would've been to call me and inform me of their construction project, which would've given me enough time to find another hotel for day use. Instead, they didn't tell me until I was checking in. The first room they put me in was incredibly loud and had no running water. I guess they shut off the water during the day in certain rooms, and think it's ok to put paying customers in these rooms.. I returned to the front desk requesting a room switch. The next room they put me in was better- it had running water and it seemed a bit quieter. That "quiet" was short lived as very soon after the construction became VERY LOUD! Not just a type of loud that makes getting rest impossible, but the type of loud that likely damages your eardrums. It felt as if I had to cover my ears to protect my hearing at times. This hotel stay feels like a sick jok with Marriot stealing customers' money and ruining their layovers and ear drums in return. This has been the worst hotel experience of my life. read more

Management refused to discount room rate after A/C shutdown in the middle of the night. Temp reached 80 degrees in the room. Took their engineer about 10mins to open and reset the unit (ie nothing I could have done to fix the problem). As the problem started in the middle of the night, didn't really comprehend why the room was so hot despite adjusting thermostat after waking up sweating a few times. Desk clerk was very friendly; manager (who never came out of the office) offered a free breakfast... This used to be a favorite spot to stay. It has really declined. I am sitting in the lounge. When I got here there was a line to check in. Next thing you know every available staffer came in to answer any questions and staff every station. I watched the manager take down room numbers for those that just wanted purchase a refreshments. He instructed staff to make them complementary. I told them I was traveling g due to death in the family. I was comped the concierge lounge and parking. As I went to my room the check in staff met me in the hall because I had dropped my bag tags. I really enjoyed my stay here! The convenience, cleanliness, and service has made my travel experience seamless. Not only is this a nice hotel, but it's conveniently located a few minutes from Dulles Airport. I took the shuttle service here, which is the way to go. It's free and it leaves the hotel every 15 minutes, so you don't have to wait long. Check-in was lightning fast. The only critique I have is for friendlier staff at check in. 2/3 women seemed quite pleasant. The lady that helped me seemed like she was unhappy to help and that I was a bother. Specifically, when I asked questions about the restaurant, fitness center, and if I could extend my stay. The room was very nice. I currently live in Las Vegas and upon arriving to D.C, I felt my soul leave my body as soon as I stepped into the cold tundra. My room was nice and warm and enabled an immediate de-thaw. The room was clean with a modern touch. The shower was perfect after a long day of travel and I was pleasantly surprised with the access to Netflix on the 55" TV (estimate). The fitness center has everything you need. The equipment is all new and in good condition. There are 3 ellipticals, 5 treadmills, dumbbells up to 50lbs, two cardio bikes, two leg machines, exercise balls, and an area with mats for stretching/yoga. My only critique here is to get more dumbbells (up to 70-80lbs) so we can go beast mode in there! The room service was remarkable. The attendant on the phone was very nice and my food arrived within 15 minutes. Note: I fast all day and I'm a pretty big guy. So, I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger, Rice Bowl with Double Chicken, and the Turkey BLT. I was afraid the portions would be small, but they were big and the food was delicious!!! Highly recommend. There is a laundry room just down the hall (at least on the third floor) with a card reader, which made doing laundry very easy. Overall, I highly recommend staying here. The reception staff is super helpful! I was surprised to hear no free wi-fi but they were more than happy to waive the fee for me for the duration of my stay if I signed up for the free Marriot Rewards program (I promised I would, but forgot to... oh well... still, my wi-fi was comped!) Then I found out I'd forgotten my charging cable, they were nice enough to tell me I can borrow a charging station from the bar at the lobby, that saved my life! I've got no complaint about the rooms except that every morning I got woken up by my upstairs neighbor coughing his lungs out. I don't know how soundproof the building is, but I blame my neighbor, lol. The location of this hotel is pretty good. Shopping, entertainment, and services are within walking distance. Staff: Probably the nicest I've ever encountered at a Marriott. Each of the 5 nights I stayed here there was a staff member standing in the middle of the lobby just to greet guests. Rooms: Huge. Plenty of space. Room service: Get the burger. It was delicious. Breakfast: Decent, but not mind-blowing. Parking: Tons of it, but you may just have to walk a little bit if you don't go in the garage. Check-in/check-out: Hassle free. Location: A much better option than the Residence Inn or Courtyard 5 miles down the road in Chantilly. Here you're surrounded by nothing but chain restaurants, but same goes for Chantilly, and most of northern Virginia for that matter. read more

First time at this Marriott stayed one night due to an early morning flight out of Dulles. I've stayed at other properties nearby, and overall this is not a bad option for the area. It's nice that the hotel is connected to the worldgate plaza that has restaurants and a movie theater if you want to leave the hotel without driving anywhere (or going outside because it's cold). Although I could see this being a potential hassle with parking depending on time of day and how busy the hotel and plaza are. The lobby has a bar area and seems to be decently renovated. There are 11 floors and no club lounge. As a gold elite I was upgraded to a king suite. The room layout was good and felt very clean. They have room service until 11 pm, it took a little longer than the 30 minutes quoted but the food was decent. Staff here were all above average. Would recommend for any Marriott travelers that need proximity to IAD or the surrounding businesses in Herndon and Chantilly. read more

Nice hotel with a friendly staff but very old and poorly functioning appliances. Ac doesn't work. Toilet doesn't flush unless you hold the handle for 30 seconds. Long story short: Be prepared for one sweaty night because the air conditions don't work. My review is based on a sleep deprived total of 4 hours I spent in the hotel, but I really liked it here! The rooms were so nice, as was the staff. I had been stranded in DC for the night because of the airlines mistake. The first Marriott they sent me too was full, but then they shuttled me to this one. I was able to get 3 hours and 45 minutes of sleep here before my next flight, and in that amount of time I could gladly say I would come back if ever in the area again. It was nicer than the Hilton I stayed at in NYC. read more

This Marriott is a decent hotel. It's honestly a little old and for whatever reason the couple of times I have stayed here the phones haven't worked. This is kinda annoying because you have to go downstairs for room service. No big deal, but still annoying. The internet is pretty bad there as well even though I pay for the upgraded service. My rooms have been good sized suites with decent furniture in both rooms. They also don't have a gold/platinum club to hang out in which I am always disappointed by considering how expensive the rooms usually are. If you're a gold or platinum member you do get free breakfast which I had one morning and it was pretty decent. Overall, this isn't the best Marriott I've ever been to, but its not the worst either. read more

Came here for a job interview with a Gartner innovation-class company. Was flown into IAD, and within 20 minutes of landing I found myself at these Marriott Suites. Not even exaggerating. It's not even how close the hotel is to the IAD airport, it's just how little traffic there is in this part of Virginia especially on July 4th when I was flown into town. Check-in process felt seamless. They gave me two complimentary waters and I proceeded to the eighth floor where I would be staying. The room itself felt spacious enough for one person, there was a table with a room service menu along with plenty of power AC outlets to plug your electronic device(s) into. My phone was nearly dead upon landing and the muggy Virginia summer weather wasn't helping, so I was excited for a power AC outlet. That's how you know you're in the year 2018... The bathroom itself has two entrances, and speaking of bathrooms, the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash smelled identical to the Marriott hotel I stayed at in Shenzhen, China last year (incidentally, also for an interview for a cloud computing company, albeit at the time of this review, not in the Gartner innovation-class category let alone any Gartner matrix to the best of my knowledge). That's Marriott for you: Consistency. As far as the features... I'm a little annoyed that the vending machine did not accept NFC let alone card payments, but only cash. A lot of places in the east coast are still on monolithic architectures and this Marriott was no exception to that. Of course, you can order a soda and have it billed to your hotel bill, but in my opinion that's crap, because you have to pay service fee(s) and/or tip for something you could've easily walked to get yourself. So, I opted to get food from TGIF, which seems to be attached to the hotel. There is also a Starbucks nearby where I was able to place a mobile order through their app to save sometime. There is WiFi at the hotel, but I am sorry to say that it is slow. I even upgraded, and my speedtest was still under 10 Mbps downstream. For a hotel that is so close to super big tech companies nearby like Raytheon, AOL, Amazon, and Microsoft, this is really unacceptable and bizarre to even type aloud in the year 2018. This along with the lack of NFC on the vending machines is the only reason I am giving this hotel a 4 instead of a 5 star review. You were so close. So damn close. read more

I have to say the Marriott Suites concept is my favorite Marriott brand. I was almost reluctant to give them a good review for fear they would always be too busy. I have stayed in the Washington Dulles Marriott Suites a few times and love the hotel. The hotel is less than 10 minutes from Dulles airport and convenient to most of the office buildings in Reston and Herndon. I love the suite concept. The parking is convenient, the rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. There is also a wide variety of places to eat right outside the lobby door. The staff at this hotel have always outdone themselves to b e friendly hand helpful and the restaurant is very good. Their breakfast buffet is great. I recommend this hotel for any business traveler in the Dulles area. read more

So when I stayed here, I really had to evaluate my life. This was the second room I received (2 different hotels) a handicapped room. Wow, do I really look that much like an elderly type? This room, for being handicapped accessible was actually still very nice. It was like a suite where the outside room had a table, couch, table, sink/counter and the other room had the bedroom and a very large bathroom (but it was a handicapped one with the special set-up in the shower). Normally, I wouldn't have really noticed anything that different, except it was back-to-back travel (right after my Marriott Boston stay) that i received handicapped rooms. I even called downstairs to see if maybe they had something in my profile that was causing my luck in getting such special rooms. They just laughed at me and explained that sometimes when are all booked the handicapped ones are the last ones to be used. Hmmm...guess that is what I get for taking the late flights! It was still an enjoyable stay none-the-less. I stayed only one night here, so I don't have much more to add. Definitely would stay here again if I was in the Herndon area. read more

We had a most-excellent night here. The desk staff was neat, courteous, pleasant, professional and efficient. The check-in was painless. The rooms were clean and everything functioned well. There's little room to store large suitcases, but since we were staying only one night here, this was not an issue. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast the following morning had a large selection of items to choose from and was very good. The wait staff, again, was clean, professional, pleasant and efficient. An all-around positive experience and a great way to start off our vacation! As a side note, because the hotel is located within a shopping complex, we got a little turned around locating an entrance to the hotel. I had been from the area and knew of the underground parking, but didn't find out how to get to the front of the hotel until after I was already in the hotel. read more

This is a nice, simple hotel with decent prices. We got a suite with two double beds, which also came with a pull out sofa bed. Two televisions are included, free wi-fi, iron, gym and pool use. There is also a very mini empty fridge, some complementary tea bags. However a large bottle of warm water was ~$5. The gym was decently equipped but the pool looked like the size of a large hot tub (I'm slightly exasperating). The included complementary breakfast for two was buffet style with some made to order options such as omelet. It was filling, and tasty and acceptable. read more

This will be a short review, because I was here for only a short time. Arrived at midnight, departed at 6am. Picked this spot as it was close to the airport and saved me some time rather than trying to dash from downtown in rush hour. Place is very nicely appointed and the rooms are very nice as well. Service was great (for what I used). Even though I arrived after midnight, there was someone at the front desk to quickly check me in. That is a lot different from many other chains. Will definitely use this location again. Also, it is close to lots of food options, so that is a plus too. read more

Very nice Marriott! No concierge lounge, but Gold and Platinum Marriott members get the $15 breakfast buffet for free, and they have made-to-order omelettes. Nice service, clean workout room (the usually hamster mills - not much for Crossfitters, but they have dumbbells and mats so you can make it work). Nice pool area. I'd give them 4.5; the half star off for the wireless speed, as mentioned in other reviews - it's not super slow but could definitely be more consistent. Two big LCD TVs, microwave, mini fridge, huge bathroom (for a hotel anyway) - will come back here if I have to stay by Dulles again. read more

This very nice Marriott property is located in the Worldgate Centre, a shopping complex consisting of numerous restaurants, a very large gym and spa, a movie theatre and more. The rooms are all suite style. The living room is separated by french doors from the bedroom area. If you are an aviation buff, make certain to ask for a room on a high floor facing Washington-Dulles airport. The airport is within view of the upper floors and it's kind of neat to see the aircraft taking off or lining up on approach. As near as this property is to the airport, jet noise is not a concern, however. The property is meticulously maintained. It's a full-service property offering an airport shuttle, room service and a full service restaurant, meeting rooms and ball rooms. The restaurant offers a fairly nice breakfast buffet, nothing spectacular, it's fairly standard Marriott fare, but the service always seems to be top notch. When making reservations, make certain to see if the rate including breakfast is available if you are a breakfast person. It's usually only $10 more and includes two adults. I'm a Platinum member in the Marriott rewards program and the front desk staff has never failed to recognize that status or offer a platinum arrival amenity. On a recent stay, not only was my arrival amenity delivered immediately after check-in, but they even went as far as to send up a nice complimentary fruit and cheese plate about an hour later! The front desk staff has always been very attentive to all my needs and has always quickly worked to rectify any small problems I have experienced during a stay. One thing of local historical interest that not many people who stay at this hotel may realize - there is a very small family burial plot hidden in a patch of bushes and trees immediately in front of this hotel. I believe the plot consists of three graves. In one of the graves is buried a woman by the name of Laura Ratcliffe. Laura Ratcliffe was a Confederate spy during the Civil War. She was closely attached to Col. John Mosby, of "Mosby's Rangers" fame during the war. Ratcliffe was also associated with General J.E.B. Stuart. About two miles down Centreville Road from the hotel is a large rock called "Mosby's Rock." Ratcliffe used this rock to hide messages and loot for Mosby during the Civil War. The rock is still there to this day. It sits in the common area of a town house complex. The location of this grave used to be almost totally obscured from view despite it's very close proximity to the hotel but I have noticed only recently that Virginia has placed a marker near the grave with some small historical notes. Not to veer too far off topic, but I am always fascinated by history, and there is plenty of it in Virginia. At any rate, this Marriott property is top notch and I would highly recommend this property when you are in the area. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Two women at the desk who should never be in customer service. I traveled for work and don't have many prerequisites other than clean and a safe area. This hotel is very basic and that is fine, but when people are blatantly rude to you when you've been nothing but kind, that is a deal-breaker. Added tip: don't rely on their "shuttle" service (it's really just a van that one of these two women drive if you're lucky and they don't drive away while you watch them snicker). *****NOTE: I am reviewing the lunch at their restaurant..***** Okay, this has got to be the best hidden gem in Herndon,Va. Firstly, the location of this marriott is awesome, especially for those who work in the IT corridor in Reston, Herndon areas. Once you go inside, across the main lobby, there is a very nice restaurant. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice they serve a daily lunch buffet for $9.99 / all u can eat. You get seated in a very comfortable setting and then, proceed to the buffet area. Their menu is consistently updated each day and let me just say the entrees are amazing. They carry two entrees each day, pasta salads, jasmine rice, fresh steamed veggies, and of course fresh rolls. So why I am so excited about this place. Well, the quality of the food is fantasic. Examples of their entrees include: sirloin steaks, balsamic chicken w/ herbs, salmon, fried chicken, grilled chicken, fish curry , etc.. The sides includes spicy potato wedges, fettuccine pastas, and daily soups. The cheesecake available on some days is probably their best dessert. For veggie lovers, there's ample to choose from.
