Stayed here a couple of years ago in the early fall and had a really good experience. The two-bedroom suites are usually the way to go. I love a Hyatt House, generally, but I'm often impressed by some of the ones that sit in the middle of what seems like nowhere. This location is actually pretty legit. It's within five minutes of a number of dining spots in the area. This time I know, however, I was not impressed by my stay. When we arrive, the landscaping team was cleaning up the front area and they were blowing leaves and rocks and things right at the car and didn't really give us time to even pass by to go inside the building. We hopped out the car. They stopped for a split second, and they immediately got right back to business. We got hit by little pieces of tiny rock, dust, and leaves. Anyway, check in was fine. The young woman at the front desk was nice at check-in. However, she wasn't nice later. Later, I called down to request a blanket and pillow because we were missing a few items from our room. She didn't answer my call at first. But she called me back like 10 minutes later. When she called back, midway through explaining what I needed, she rudely interrupted me while I was making my request and said, "you actually do have blankets and a pillow. They're in your closet." Actually, tho? Girl... I informed her that we'd check that there were no blankets. After a very long pause, she said, "well you can come down here and get them." Now, hear me out, I know I was not at a five star hotel. However, I also know I did not book a Rodeway Inn. And I've stayed at many a HH and never had the front desk not even offer to bring something up, especially they'd forgotten. 20 minutes later, I've just never had that experience. I ended up going down. Scarlett an hour and a half later, he got a call from the front desk. The same young woman was now accusing us of "stomping around." She informed us that they'd "received complaints" and then said nothing more. When I probed, she said the room below us said there was noise coming from upstairs that sounded like stomping. There was literally NO stomping happening and when I told her that, she said, " well is your child playing around or something?" Girl, bye. First of all, I'm very aware of what MY child is doing and if she had been jumping around or playing, I would've admitted that and corrected her. But maybe you're referring to the ONE sound that was made when we moved a chair that YOUR HOTEL had blocking the walkway in the living room area of the suite. When I told her my child was doing nothing and that we moved a chair like 15 minutes ago, I went for a long time before saying, "have a good night." Cleanliness: now, I always do my own bit of cleaning at hotels, especially when there are suites and bathtubs involved. The bathtub in our suite, it was very little cleaning must be done to that particular time regularly because there was so much hair that did not belong to anyone in our family along with obvious dirt that came up and pulled in the tub after I scrubbed. So disgusting. Overall, I can pretty confidently say that I would not stay here again. I really appreciate good service and cleanliness. read more

My visit was brief. I arrived around 11:30 pm and was out the door for a flight at Dulles by 5:50 am. Check in was a little confusing as the door was locked and no one was at the desk. A couple in front of me tried banging on the door. I called instead, could hear the phone ringing, and then the night auditor arrived right after to unlock the door. I imagine he was busy doing tasks in the back, I'd assume from my past experience in the role. They were totally sold out that night, so the couple was turned away. There were two rooms left for me to pick from, and he let me decide, which was nice. I chose the quiet 4th floor room over the 1st floor option. The room was well-equipped, spacious, and comfortable. It was a bit dated, but for a literal place to crash for a few hours, it suited my needs just fine. The price was reasonable, at just over $100, as well. read more

The room was very nice and clean. I was surprised at how much room we had. I can be a hotel snob but this hotel went above my expectations. We had two room suite and each room with its own bathroom which I loved. I was traveling with a family member and it was just nicer to have your own space. There was a sofa and chair or living room area which was also very spacious. I loved everything about this room. The service was amazing! Everyone was so kind and ready to assist. We were offered greetings immediately upon entering hotel and they were also attentive to ensure we didn't need anything. We ate at the hotel bar and the food was delicious. The General Manager personally thanked us for staying at their hotel and we would definitely return. 5 star venue. read more

First the good things, of which there are many. Price was very reasonable for this area, and I think we definitely got our money's worth for a more extended stay place, with suites and kitchenettes. Check-in was easy, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It has all the conveniences you could want; gym, office, seasonal pool, convenience shop, complementary breakfast (if rather bland), decent wifi and TV, and a lovely little bar. I do particularly have to give high praise Janel, the bartender, as she was an absolute saint. She was friendly to the extreme, and was so kind hosting so many of us conference-goers for one last round, even past closing time. I hope anyone who swings by for a drink is luck enough to have her pouring that evening. The other real strength this hotel has is its location. This hotel is extremely convenient to the airport, being only a few minutes away from Dulles, and yet is set far enough back from the major roads that you don't really get any traffic noises. It is close to metro stations, easy freeway access, and there are plenty of excellent spots for food and drink within easy walking distance. In particular, right next door is a complex of buildings containing an excellent brewery, a lovely coffee shop, one of the best Ethiopian places I've ever experienced, and several other dining options. Now for the not-so-good things... This is a rather dated building. There are certainly signs of wear and tear in the rooms and common spaces. I would clarify, things are kept clean, they are just the typical sorts of scuff, scrapes, and dings you'd see in any building that needs a bit of a touch up. Further, the lady who managed the front desk first thing in the morning seemed rather abrupt to us. And lastly, during our stay, the water heater for the entire building broke for almost two days, making it rather uncomfortable for all of us staying here, though it was eventually fixed. All in all, I feel the Hyatt House Herndon is an ok, if unimpressive, place to stay when traveling for work. The issue with hot water issue in particular, and need for a bunch of general updates, definitely skewed this particular review. But I would definitely keep them in mind as an option for when next I travel through the area. read more

My room was with two separate rooms. I have no idea why they think we need this room? I think it is kind of energy waste. The TV programs were very old, the signal was not stable. In the middle of the night around 2:40, fire alarm ‼ rang and everyone run to outside. It was very cold with rain. 40 mins later, finally the hotel person explained to us that: hotel's Dry and Wet system had some issues... we went back to our room but the alarm was ringing until 4:30. What a night we spent! Almost sleepless! All the people were not happy and tired next morning. Breakfast was ok but coffee runs out so fast and the seats let out was not good. I definitely think that they should give us a coupon for next stay! Also extend breakfast time!! read more

This was a nice and convenient place to stay. The location is close to many shops and restaurants. The suite was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The service at the front desk was good and they were even making fresh popcorn for guests. We enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning, though it wasn't as expansive as breakfasts at other Hyatt Houses we've stayed at. It was a real toss-up to figure out if this is a 3 or 4 star situation, but I opted for the latter in spite of a couple of major/glaring issues. The pros - Location, location, location. Plenty to eat/do in the general area but also close to places like Tysons, Leesburg as well as of course Herndon/Reston for business travelers. It's also not that terribly far from DC - The breakfast here is above average and better than most other similar places - Very convenient in terms of great restaurants nearby (including some hidden gems right behind the property in that weird strip mall) and not far from Metro stations - Comfortable bed - Showers are insanely strong (almost power washer level ... which I guess is a con for some people) - Housekeeping folks were nice and helpful - Good sized 2-bedroom suite The cons - As others have said, this properly looks old and feels old inside - While the carpet wasn't as dramatically filthy as people made it out to be, it does feel old and could use a replacement - The climate control is old and crappy. The A/C is blaring, loud and too strong while the heat is insanely dry, hot and overwhelming. Either way you're going to feel dry AF staying here - Bare bones soap/amenities - Breakfast seating area is small and gets crowded - Not the most friendly front desk, but some folks were nice Despite some of glaring flaws, I still think generally the rooms were clean and for me as long as the beds and showers were tip top (which they were) then the stay was ok, tho the crappy HVAC needs to be fixed asap. The real plus here is the location, especially for people like me who are visiting the NOVA area. There are also lots of great restaurants within a 5 min drive and having a Target 3 minutes away is convenient. I definitely think the idea that this place is filthy is a gross exaggeration but there's no doubt the rooms could use a facelift since it feels old and drab. read more

The first time I stayed here the elevator was broken. That should have been the first clue. I then found that interior looks like it hasn't been updated since 1995. I did happen to book a stay again because it was convenient to my job site. In a rush to get up here ahead of Hurricane Ian, I accidentally booked a room the same day I made the reservation instead of the next day when I was actually planning to arrive. As a loyal World of Hyatt member, I begged the manager to refund me so I could stay the actual day I was arriving and they refused. We came to town for a soccer tournament. We chose this hotel based off location and the convenience of breakfast being offered in the morning but there were so many other great amenities we found once we got here. The GM Wonda went above and beyond for our team and there were a lot of us. We are forever grateful with how kind and accommodating she was to ensure the kids and their families had a memorable trip. She even sang a beautiful song with the kids that incorporated their soccer name. We travel a lot as a family and never once have we stayed at hotel that was this great. The kids played on the basket ball courts, even were offered lots of board games to plays while us parents enjoyed drinks in the hotel lobby. In town for a 3 weeks for work. I heard that DC traffic is no joke so decided to stay near the office and landed here at Hyatt House Herndon. We couldn't do 3 weeks here after all we check out after the 4th day. If you have allergies then this isn't the place for you or your loved one! Dirty, FILTHY carpet throughout the entire hotel. I love pets especially dogs (it's dog friendly) but you can feel the thickness in the air from the filthy carpet. The first day the bed was made up nice but around the room it felt filthy. I even found black mold today in the shower on the edges of the shower, I had enough and left. Not for babies to be crawling around nor a little one or adults with disabilities! Not good ventilation, the air quality inside the hotel is poor! read more

I really liked Hyatt House/Herndon. Spacious 2 bedroom with living space and kitchette. But what really made the 12 day stay memorable was the staff - Johnson, Antonio and Mr. Eddy and others. They all could not have been more accommodating. My only issue which is pretty much the same in all hotels these days is I would love the scrambled eggs, etc to be made from real cracked eggs not cartoned eggs - but they did have a hard boiled choice. The room was not very clean when we arrived. Trash was not emptied and television stand covered in thick dust. They told us they didn't do daily cleaning but would do a "refresh" on Saturday, which they did not and no one knew about it. Very little toilet paper, the phone didn't work, and no shower gel. We forgot a toothbrush and they were out of them. They ran out of some breakfast items before breakfast was over (like eggs). All of the food was bland and tasteless. When I needed something, because the phone didn't work, I had to go down to the desk, which was often left unattended and I had to wait ten minutes or more or give up. Recently spent 12 nights here. Anytime you spend this much time away from home it's a long trip. This trip was for training at the company that I work for. They offer shuttle service within 5 miles. Busy times are in the morning. For this trip, they had a lot of people to shuttle in the morning at there were times where they did not coordinate the drivers well. They do have 2 vehicles to shuttle people in. They will come and pick you up as well. Wait times in these cases are much longer than getting a ride from the hotel. They offer breakfast every morning with omelette freshly made during the week. They do offer a happy hour with snacks, beer and wine also during the week. Terrible experience! Do not trust Shameka McGee at all!!! We booked rooms for our wedding through her. She lied that she blocked the rooms for our wedding. Despite having email evidence, we and our guests were stranded at the main entrance lobby from 11 pm to 2:30 AM. The front desk receptionist could not locate our reservations. She had to call this second manager named Aleksandar Tasev, who just said to give us any room and he would adjust the price. He LIED! We were charged more than double for the rooms and he pretended to play dumb by not honoring the prices he did that night over the phone. I played back a recording of what he said to us over the phone, and a copy of the email the general manager Vanessa McManus sent me - promising to honor the rates originally agreed upon. I promised to sue him through my lawyer. After several days of headache he finally reversed the charges to what was originally promised. Vanessa McManus lied! Alexsander Tasev lied! Shameka McGee lied! They ruined my wedding!!! Do not trust them at all! Rent an Airbnb, holiday inn, econo lodge or even a tent for that matter. Do not trust this place or their people. I had high expectations especially from a HYATT brand. However, this stay did not quite meet expectations. Firstly, my husband has a UV flashlight and he checks to make sure our sheets have been changed during initial check in. Come to find out the fitted sheet wasn't and as you can see as pictured, there's something gross on the sheet which is not visible without the UV light. There's a smell in the room that could possibly be mold as there is something on the ceiling that appears to have been leaking. The room is pretty small for a one bedroom suite. Breakfast was ok. No cut up fruits such as cantaloupes etc., only whole apples. They have an evening social from 530-7p in which complimentary food and alcoholic beverages are provided. Only shower option and the water pressure is pretty weak. Our bed has a dip and pillows are spongy, no sort of firmness. In fairness, many restaurant choices for delivery around the area mainly pizza places. The Hunan Cafe Chinese is very good especially their beef noodle soup (a little spicy though). You can get Outback (steakhouse) delivered also. Hotel is located in a quiet area. Please retrain housekeeping about cleanliness/tidiness. SHEETS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED AFTER EVERY CUSTOMER! Please make updates to rooms and fix what needs to be fixed. Rooms needs serious renovations. Obviously needs renovation cause kitchen does not have back splash and curtains and furnitures are old. Also the main door's handle was very hard to open, you have to turn it a certain way for it to open. Update: called front desk and we were switched to a better room, this room has no funky smell and bed does not dip. The furniture here (couch and lamps) are even outdated compared to previous room. It's great going into a stay without any expectations at all. A group of us (6) were traveling down to visit a friend for New Years Eve 2008/2009 and we were looking for a place large enough to accommodate all of us, but also not be overbearingly expensive. What an unbelievable treat this place was. First they have an "evening social" Mondays through Thursdays where I believe there is free beer/wine and you can chat with the management team. Second, the rooms are ENORMOUS. We had a two bedroom which included two separate changing rooms and bathrooms. Each room had a 40" Hi-def plasma (total of 3.) Fridge, dishwasher, stove - the works. Housekeeping did our dishes, tidied up but weren't intrusive on our belongings. Just absolutely the best value I think I've ever felt I received in a hotel. Wish we were staying longer. Oh, and did I mention it was $99 the first night and only $129 on NYE? Yeah. Uh-May-Zing. read more

This hotel has the BEST staff I've ever experienced. I travel often for work and I've been a guest at this location a few times so far this year, and will continue to return when I'm in NoVA. The hallways look a little tired but the rooms are very nice, the beds are comfortable, the windows actually open (so rare!! love it!!), and the location is unbeatable. There's a fantastic laundry room, lots of food & coffee choices in the shopping center directly behind the property, and the staff is genuinely upbeat, helpful, and kind. read more

We stayed at this hotel for five nights. It is convenient to IAD Airport and D.C. The buffet free breakfast is generous with lots of choices. The plates used are old, broken or both. Some were not very clean. The first night we had to change rooms because the bathroom had not been cleaned. The overall cleanliness of the hotel is not good. People are messy sometimes and spill on the floor, it takes the cleaning staff a long while before it is cleaned up. The rooms are spacious with a sitting area, fridge and nice tv. The elevator and windows are full on handprints. The gym was great though, the equipment is top notch and new. read more

This is a decent hotel in a great location for business travelers in Reston. The hotel is older but adequately kept up. My room had a separate living room with a compact kitchen that included a fridge, sink, 2 burner stove top and microwave. I was there on a Wednesday and Thursday so I was able to have their breakfast and themed dinners (taco night and lasagna night). Basic hotel food but I appreciated the onsite omelette station because that's my fave breakfast option. Staff was OK but level of customer service wasn't on par with Marriott hotels, which I frequent. read more

Ample breakfast offerings Cons: An older property: Several items had to be repaired while we were there during the course of one week: Doors out of service/not reading the key cards, fireplace, laundry machine. Telephone in the suite not functional (no routine maintenance on the entire property ??) Undergoing renovation, probably because (as noted above) items appear to be breaking, wearing down Oddly enough, the staff was very unfriendly at this location. Gave us a hard time about Explorist benefits - I guess they are not familiar. I recently spent quite a bit of time at the Chantilly and Sterling Hyatt Place locations and the staff at those locations were excellent, very friendly, etc. People running and jumping in the rooms above us, very noisy at all times. Hyatt House is ranked #1 in upscale extended-stay hotel brand by the Business Travel News 2012 hotel chain survey. I would agree. This place is less like a hotel and more like a residence. There are separate spaces that allow you to live like you might in your own home. The studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom suites all offer full kitchens with a full size refrigerator, comfy living rooms, spacious bedrooms and stylish bathrooms. You do not have to sleep on a pull out sofa bed. There are two main social areas for the complimentary buffet breakfast and social hour although social hours are not held on the weekends, which was the case for my weekend here. There is a small workout room, outdoor pool and outdoor grilling area. It was too cold to enjoy these outdoor spaces on this cold winter weekend. I first stayed at Hyatt House in Boulder, Colorado late last year (see my review and pics) and really enjoyed my one night experience. I recently sought a hotel room to accommodate up to 4 people near the Reston Town Center (RTC). I came upon a 2 bedroom suite here for the weekend for only $90 per night. Unbelievable? But true! I also had two separate full bathrooms and even a natural gas fireplace located in the center living room to boot. It can't get any better than that. Also there is complimentary shuttle service to RTC, which only takes about 7 minutes. I would highly recommend this place especially for families in need of lots of space. There is even a washer/dryer combo in the public area if you want to do laundry during extended stays. I will definitely try other Hyatt Houses and may return to this one again. read more

I recently held a 2-day training session at the Hyatt House in Herndon, and rented out the first floor conference room. Since it was 2-day training and not 2-day executive strategy offsite, Hyatt House fit the bill perfectly. Location is easily accessible from IAD, from Tysons Corner, etc. Front desk staff was very nice, always big smiles. Every couple hours, someone with a smile poked their head in, refreshed water, coffee, candy bowls. Day 1, a front office manager introduced herself and asked me to contact her if we needed anything. Near the end of the 2nd day as I was packing up, a gentleman asked me how things went and had a look of genuine interest. The room was clean, didn't smell dirty or smell of smoke, it was set up perfectly for my needs, I couldn't have asked for more. In the end, it exceeded my expectations for the cost. Hyatt House Herndon is a 10-minute drive to/from Dulles. They're located off the Dulles Toll Road on Herndon Parkway and convenient if you have an early flight. The nearest Metro station is 20-minutes away -- the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU station -- which will [might] whisk you away to DC. The staff at HH is very friendly and accommodating. The manager who checked me in personally invited me to the Manager's reception later that evening. The Room: Each room offers an all-suite experience. Seriously, the room is huge, with a full-kitchen (refrigerator, microwave, stove, coffeemaker, dishwasher -- no oven, though), living room with a 32" flat screen and a DVD player, and bedroom. Food options: HH offers a complimentary hot breakfast (eggs, bacon/sausage, waffles, French toast) as well as an evening social from Monday-Thursday where you can enjoy complimentary beer and wine. Check the calendar in the room for the menu/schedule of their evening socials. In between, there is a 'Guest Market' where you can purchase snacks or prepared sandwiches. For guests who are staying at HH for an extended period, there's also complimentary grocery shopping. Of course, there are a number of restaurants in nearby Reston Town Center that is a short 24-minute walk away (or 3 minutes if you drive). Feeling healthy? Cons - Reported shower curtain and dishwasher as broken. Shower Curtain fixed, but dishwasher not repaired during stay. Some unwelcome tiny livestock observed in kitchen area. Phone message system not functional, half of TV channels not working, General disrepair in room more and more noticeable. If they offer you room 208 - ask for a different room. read more

BEWARE OF THE BED BUGS! If there was a negative star I would give it to this stinking place! DO NOT STAY here they have BED BUGS in their rooms!!!! I am writing this review from my room at 5 AM since I just discovered BED BUGS in my bed pillow. I called the front desk and they could only say "oh sorry! I can send you clean sheets tomorrow" WTF??? What I need is another room, or even better another hotel! I am not talking of one bug... but at least 3 visible ones... I HOPE they didn't jumped into my bags! Sadly for me I will have to stay here at least more hours until I leave for my meeting without any sleep at all! On top of that in case you don't mind the BED BUGS maybe the super loud and noisy AC combined with the also noisy refrigerator in the room will make you feel like you are sleeping underneath a truck. My only positive comment is that the staff is friendly and all were very concerned (the next morning)... they didn't charged for the night and they offered me a free night in another Hyatt through reward points... read more

It's really sad to say that I had to give three stars to this hotel I normally really love to stay but the floor where they have construction going on in their laundry room. They are painting and the smell has completely taking over the entire floor and has made its way into my room. This is just definitely a turn off for my next visit, I just don't feel like there was any consideration taken into putting me in a place where I would be comfortable. Why you would put someone on a floor with construction going on and the smell of paint everywhere. The hotel is definitely not booked so it left me the choice to drag everything back down and ask for a new floor and room, witch is a complete inconvenience and after traveling in from Baltimore to Virginia. I'm not trying to deal with it I just wanna relax. I shouldn't have even been put in the position to choose between the smell or dragging my stuff back to the lobby. On top of that after I finally got settled in and get some dinner order to the room I wanted to turn on the TV and sit down and relax . Jokes on me the television will not turn on ... this is also the second stay in a row that I was put in a room with a non-working television. I will probably book with another property my next visit to Herndon. I just don't wanna deal with any more issues than I have to traveling and staying in a place that is in your own is difficult enough without being left to deal with things that should've been fixed before the room was rented out again. Very clean hotel, convenient to the Dulles airport with a shuttle. We had the 2 bedroom/2 bath room -- nicely laid out and easy for two couples. They even have a gas fireplace - great for the morning cold! Breakfast is a full breakfast - sausage, eggs, cold cereal, instant hot cereal, pastries, toast, 3 kinds of juices, yogurt, etc. Shuttle back to the airport was easy - takes about 10 minutes which gave us a lot of time to get to our gate. read more
