Drs are fine. Admin staff sucks. Slow. Nobody answers the phone and it takes weeks to get back. Very frustrating.

This place is utterly mediocre, with abysmal service from the medical staff--specifically Robert Chu. I had a humiliating and insulting experience here after waiting for two hours. Even after having paid my portion of the co-payment, the man accused me of not having insurance and demanded I pay him an extra $80 if I wanted to be serviced. He did this in audience of the entire front room--in front of his patients. He made no effort to apologize or even seem apologetic after his desk workers corrected his assumption. I demanded my refund and announced to his patients that his treatment of me, a paying citizen, was born of racism. Do not go here if you value your self worth. read more

This office is well run, the quality of care is top notch. The doctors and staff really are on top of everything to do with ocular health. The machines they have are the latest technology and the staff breaks this down so that it is meaningful to the patient. I've been with Dr. Dan Yin for 12 years, and I would not trust my eyes to anyone else. It is disheartening to see so many negative comments about this practice. If you are looking for a pair of frames only perhaps you're better off at one of those places advertised on TV Washington Eye Consultants is perhaps the best practice I've ever been to. read more

I've been going to Dr. Yin for several years now and I'm grateful to have found her. My first visit was an emergency due to shingles in my eye. Her office took me in immediately and Dr. Yin was very thorough and informative. She took the time to first relieve my fears and then to give me full information on what our next steps were. I had to see her frequently that year and it was always the same. The office is friendly and took care of any co-pays and questions first. Then the wait is never too long. The whole team is great. Since this episode, I've been coming back to Dr. Yin for all my follow ups. Great doctor! read more

0 stars. Not recommend!!! I do NOT recommend this place. I've been their patient for 7 years. ( I should not have ). There are some people who are respectful and try to do their job well but their internal culture is not healthy and not respectful towards people or between their staff. Specially KATE ( administration -front desk ), who yelled at me several times ( is not the first time and she does it to others ) in front of other people stating I was wrong about my insurance coverage, cutting me of and denying to provide her full name. My insurance covers everything, she denied it. I had to call the insurance and show the written document showing everything is covered. I was still yelled at expressing to me that I was wrong. She never apologized. I asked for a complaint document and they say they do not have anything like that ( I guess they do not care about patients opinions since they do no have a system to collect that) I asked Kate for her last name and she did not provide it, ignoring me and then rolling her eyes and dismissing me completely. They charged me $65 dollars for fitting to get my contacts although this is covered by my insurance. This administrative person wanted me to do a medical exam. I did not want my medical exam just the contacts ( which I was told prior on the phone it was completely ok and actually suggested by one of the staff members so I could get an appointment faster because I needed my contacts to travel ). I had to go through 3 different people explaining why I did not want to do my medical exam ( which they charge another $ for, I do not recall the amount but it's more than $40 if machine is used) because I was driving so I couldn't get my eyes dilated. While I was with the optometrist, another one came and made her move me. Then again another one came and talked to her disrespectfully. It took me two hours to get my eyes check for contact lenses and they still made me pay for everything that is covered by my insurance. Treatment is terrible. They have lost two clients myself and my husband. But I guess they won't care about this either since they don't treasure the patients. Too repetitive during the years. Really sad... regardless of insurance characteristics, if you are being respectful you should be treated well. read more

There are several concerns about this place, and which are as follows: Rudeness and Unwelcoming Nature: Multiple interactions with the office staff have been marked by rudeness and an unwelcoming attitude. This behavior has been experienced both over the phone and during in-person visits. Appointment Cancellations: There have been instances where appointments were canceled without consulting the patients, even after the patient had confirmed them. This has led to significant inconvenience, as re-booking the appointments has been made difficult. Argumentative Responses: When trying to discuss appointment issues, the staff has often been unduly argumentative instead of assisting in resolving the problem and making the necessary appointments. Lack of Follow-Up: Despite leaving more than four messages requesting to discuss the situation with the doctor, we were told that the office manager would call us back. Unfortunately, we never received a call back, despite providing our name, number, and a suitable time for a call. Appointment System Issues: The appointment system seems to have persistent issues, such as automatically scheduling calls for the wrong day. This has been ongoing for years and adds to the frustration of managing healthcare appointments. read more

My bill is wrong....will notify my insurance if charged & paid for something I did NOT received. I would NOT recommend this practice. So many other Doctors to choose from... Very unprofessional service. They billed the wrong code which led the claims denied by the insurance company. I called many times to ask them to bill again with the right code. They DID NOT. They just sent me mails telling me that I have to pay instead of the insurance company. I will not pay for their mistakes. It's been 5 months while I'm still appealing for the cases. I had a great experience here. The office staff is friendly and knowledgable and SUPER efficient. I was in and out of the appointment quickly but did not feel rushed. Worst experience ever! Dr. Yin was fine, but their staff definitely need better management and training!! The front desk was lack of knowledge and would mislead you to consent to the medical insurance even when you explicitly said only a basic eye exam was needed. The billing staff were even worse, extremely unprofessional, and blamed everything to the patient. Despite the patient proactively reached out to them twice and explained why and what happened and why patient thought the bill was not fair and if they could do anything. The lady said she would check internally but never came back. Later they just sent the bill to debt collector! Something that only needed $10 copay in other office ended up $300 in her office! read more

This review is for DR. DAN YIN. Recently switched vision insurance and was recommended to see Dr. Yin for my contacts needs. The front desk was helpful with working with me and figure out what my insurance covered and didn't cover. I was even able to get my glasses readjusted while I waited for my appointment. Dr. Yin is bubbly, efficient, and really knows her stuff. She's straight to the point and didn't make me feel like she was trying to sell me something. She worked me with on trying different pairs of contacts (since I was switching from monthly's to daily's) and took her time to make sure the fit was right. Never once did I feel rushed during my appointment. She genuinely cares about her patients (even new ones like me!) and is just full of knowledge and solutions for any issue or concerns. Patient-centered bedside manner is hard to come by these days. Most of the time, I spend probably an hour in the waiting room and get less than 2 mins with the doctor who's rushing off to see another patient. I attest to the review of SK from 9/16/2017 because I had the same horrible experience as him/her. I went there for 2 medical follow-ups and 1 eye exam (on the persuasion of the ophthalmologist), but the billings were not in that order, or so they made up as they went along. I was still being asked for copay for the first visit in May when a check was made to them for that and other visits billings were in order. There was not an ounce of transparency in the way they handle the billings. The worst part was the accounting manager who called me, she was so rude and was yelling at me when I was trying to explain the discrepancies about the billings and the false information that each staff had told me when they asked me for a payment at the office - basically each staff said whatever they wanted just to get my payment because what I paid for was for something else. Her only rebuttal was that the staff didnt know what they were doing and should not have told me false information. WOW! Good luck to those who visit this office and I would not be returning!!! read more

Dr. Chu performed the laser surgery for my cataracts. I am amazed at how well everything turned out. Dr. Chu is a very caring and experienced doctor. He takes the best of care and explains things so you can truly understand what is going to be done. He has a very friendly and helpful staff. The practice is well organized with the latest technological eye care. My husband has been seeing Dr. Chu since before 1998. He has guided him thru cataracts, glaucoma and now macular degeneration. We both feel that we can trust him to provide the best care for our eyes. I have had several friends that were patients of Dr. Chu and they all said the same thing - that he is a really great doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Chu for the best eye care. read more

The office is located upstairs on the second level. From the outside, you would think it's rather small but it's very spacious on the inside. Their selection of eye glasses isn't extensive but you'll probably find a pair you like. The office staff are a bunch of friendly faces. One lady in particular, blond hair older white lady that sits facing the sitting area, is VERY loud. Not obnoxious loud but loud like she may be going deaf and doesn't realize it. None the less, they are all friendly and helpful, including the doctor. Parking is free and easy to come by, appointments are no hassle and easy to schedule, and they go over and explain your benefits well. Like most people, we have a medical plan that comes with vision and a separate vision plan. We found out that the medical was best for frame coverage and the vision plan was best for contact coverage. We didn't realize we could use both insurances and assumed once we picked contacts, we had to stay with contacts. Vision insurance works different than medical and dental insurance and we've since learned that there's no primary and secondary coverage. That the two vision plans are exclusive of one another so we just had to pick which plan to use for what benefit/allowance. The reason why they get 4 stars instead of 5 is because the office informed me that there was a $200 fee to show/teach our son how to put in and take out contacts. Ludicrous! A first time contact wearer has to pay $200 to learn how to insert and clean contacts? Nope!!!! Costco only charges $25 and other places are free. Luckily our son has a different eye doctor then us and even though this place was good for my husband, I won't be switching our son's eye doctor just yet. read more

Very very very myopic all my life. And then got older so became far sighted as well. Never knew what i should see. Add on - astigmatism -- but when vision is a blur - it's just more blur. I had cataract surgery -- with laser. I can see -- I see the clock across the room, I see the sidewalk and curb, I see steps, I see the computer, I see the fortune in a fortune cookie, I see the smaller writing on the tv, I see more than 3 inches clearly. Who knew there was so much to see and so crisp? My brain is adjusting to the ability of waking up and seeing ... it's not that i didn't have sight with glasses or contacts -- but now I have sight without contacts or glasses ... a miracle. The cataract surgeries went smoothly and easily. Recovery is minimal. Life is good when a person has a doctor who is so capable as Dr. Chu. Thank you isn't enough. read more

Dr. Chu has the best team of medical staff in the eye care industry. They are very attentive and courteous not to mention very professional. Even though this is a busy practice, Dr. Chu always takes the time to make me feel like I am the only patient being cared for. He listens and ask the appropriate questions to make sure I feel comfortable and provides me with options for the most effective treatment to take care of my retina and overall vision. saw Dr. Dan Yin in August 2015. I have no problems with her care. I have MAJOR problems with the office staff. First, they were completely flummoxed by the fact that I had both medical insurance AND vision insurance. I cannot be the first person to walk through their doors. They kept trying to get me to pay arbitrary amounts of money and when I asked for documentation, the amount would change. First pay $5. No, actually $20. Fine, then pay $10. I told them that if they didn't know how much I owed for a co-pay, they could bill me, but they would not let me leave. Eventually, I gave them a $15 co-pay (my usual specialist co pay under my medical insurance) and left. Today - in FEBRUARY 2017, I got a call looking for my address so they could send me a bill. I have not been to their office since AUGUST 2015. That's a year and a half later. I had to comb back through my records, found where they submitted to both my medical insurance and my vision insurance (funny how they seemed to get paid by both for my routine eye exam), and documentation of my paid co-pay. The final word: STAY AWAY. You can find a doctor that is just as competent that either 1. has competent office staff or 2. does not try to scam you and your insurance company out of money. read more

I have been a patient for some time, and have always appreciated his compassionate care and personal attention. But he really went the extra mile when I recently had extreme pain and scratching in my eye, like something sharp was caught in it. This was on a Saturday. I was able to call the office's after hours number, and reached Dr. Chu. He did not hesitate, but immediately came to meet me at his office on his day off and treated me on the spot. I want to share my excellent experience with Dr. Robert Chu. On Thanksgiving Day, I saw what appeared to be wisps of black smoke filling my right eye. As you can imagine, this was a frightening experience. I have been a patient of Dr. Chu for the past two years, so I took a chance and called his office to see if there was an emergency number. There was, and in minutes I was in contact with Dr. Chu. He did not hesitate, but had me come to his office and see him immediately...remember, this was Thanksgiving Day! On his own with no staff to assist him on the holiday, he conducted a serious of tests in his lab, quickly diagnosed my condition, and saw me again over the weekend to continue my care. That level of patient care was extraordinary...making himself available on a moment's notice to come and care for me in such a compassionate and thorough manner on a holiday. It should not have surprised me. I have had the highest opinion of Dr. Chu since I have been his patient for the past two years. He is unfailingly thorough, professional, extremely competent, and with an outstanding "bedside manner" that is both very comforting and inspires confidence. I will also mention that his office staff and medical technicians are among the most efficient I have ever seen...a very high-tempo office with minimal wait times.
