My Request for a Female Physician Was Not Honored + Operating Room Experience…read more It's important to share my experience so other women--especially those with modesty/dignity requests--can make an informed decision. Before beginning IVF treatment, I specifically requested that only female physicians be involved in my care due to my needs for modesty and dignity. This was an important condition for me moving forward with treatment. On the morning of my egg retrieval, only minutes before my procedure, I learned that my physician would be male. I immediately reminded him, in front of my husband, that I had requested only female doctors. His response was that Shady Grove Fertility only had him available that day and they couldn't simply call in a female physician. This was shocking to hear moments before my procedure. By that point I had already invested thousands of dollars, weeks of hormone injections, countless appointments, and tremendous emotional energy into this IVF cycle. Being in my 40s, with my husband deploying soon, I felt I had no realistic option but to proceed. Had I known beforehand that SGF could not accommodate my request, I would have chosen a different fertility clinic from the beginning. Unfortunately, what occurred in the operating room compounded my distress. After I got onto the procedure table and placed my body in position, I was completely uncovered from the waist down while the physician was already in the room. Feeling extremely vulnerable, I instinctively tried to cover myself, but I was repeatedly instructed to move my hands to my sides. Only afterward, from across the room, was a drape brought over to cover me. I understand that some exposure is unavoidable during an egg retrieval. In fact, I previously underwent the same procedure at Shady Grove Fertility with a female physician. During that retrieval, any necessary exposure was incredibly brief, and I was covered promptly to preserve my privacy and dignity. This experience, however, was markedly different. This time, I remained uncovered after being positioned on the table, despite my attempts to cover myself, and despite having specifically requested a female physician beforehand. I do not understand why a drape could not have been placed immediately before or as I was positioned. The experience left me feeling humiliated, emotionally distressed, and that my dignity had not been respected. I want to emphasize that the nurses themselves were kind. My concern is with the clinic's communication, its inability to accommodate a request that had been made in advance, and the way my privacy and dignity were handled during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. A formal complaint will be filed, because this is unacceptable, and no other woman with such needs should ever experience this.

He is an exceptional doctor who has delivered all three of my children. In fact, he is the reason I continued my care with this practice and chose to travel from Maryland to the Annandale office. My doctor has always been compassionate, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout my pregnancies. Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk staff and office administration has been extremely disappointing and has overshadowed what should have been a positive postpartum experience. Approximately two weeks after my delivery, I received a phone call from the office informing me that I needed to come in for a two-week postpartum appointment before my six-week follow-up visit. Since my previous child was born over 15 years ago, I only remembered having a six-week postpartum appointment, so I trusted the information I was given. I was instructed to come in the very next day because I was already two weeks postpartum. As a mother recovering from a C-section, leaving the comfort of my home is not something I do lightly. Recovery is physically painful, emotionally exhausting, and requires careful planning, especially when caring for a newborn. Despite this, I made the effort to attend the appointment because I believed it was important for my health and recovery. When I arrived at the office, I was informed that there was no appointment scheduled for me. I was shocked, frustrated, and deeply disappointed. I had only come because the office contacted me and instructed me to do so. To make matters worse, there was little acknowledgment of the inconvenience and hardship this caused. Patients recovering from major surgery should not be subjected to unnecessary trips, confusion, and poor communication. A simple mistake may seem minor to office staff, but for a postpartum mother recovering from a C-section, it creates unnecessary stress, discomfort, and frustration. Because of this experience, I have decided not to return to this clinic for my postpartum care. Instead, I plan to seek my postpartum follow-up and evaluation through the hospital where I delivered. I sincerely hope the practice takes steps to improve communication, scheduling accuracy, and patient care from its administrative staff. The physicians may provide excellent medical care, but the front office is often the first and last impression patients receive. Unfortunately, my experience with the office staff did not reflect the level of care and professionalism that patients deserve.

After working with four different doctors and assessing about 10 other eggbanks, the moment we spoke to Holleigh, we knew we hit jackpot. She was not only extremely responsive but also attentive and patient. As you can imagine, during the selection process we were very picky. But, she was very patient and punctual with responding to our inquiries for additional information on potential donors or candidates. From start to finish, she was thorough, honest, and professional. Skipping forward to the day we found out we were finally pregnant with Micah - which BTW was only our first attempt with the donor eggs - we were extremely ecstatic, as I'm sure you can imagine. We immediately called Holleigh to thank the Fairfax Family endlessly for their support, healthy eggs, and seamless process. We think what also helped was the manner of which they established a relationship with our doctor. It made the whole experience so much easier and personal. Through the process it just seemed like we were one big family, equally hoping for success. In fact, Holleigh actually got very emotional when she learned we were successful. I loved it!!! Now our son is almost 6 months old, and I don't think a month has gone by - since the time we found out we were pregnant - that someone from Fairfax hasn't reached-out just to check on our family. We feel like they're family now, and we want to thank them from the bottom of hearts for helping to make this possible :-)!! By far, they have the best prices of all places we consulted and, when it comes to top-notch customer service, they rank higher than the best!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! We love you honorary Fairfax Family :-)!!!

Out of a total of 18 eggs from three separate donors, we were only able to get 1 viable embryo total. Our last two cohorts, both, did not make it to the blastocyst stage. They provided us with a replacement cohort the first time it happened but the second time we were denied another replacement, because replacement cohorts are not covered by their one blastocyst guarantee. It's not their policy to have any type of standards when dealing with "replacement" eggs, I guess? Our Dr. and representatives from Fairfax were all in agreement that these results were "out of the ordinary." With that being said, we are still not given an exception to get a replacement? I'd be curious to know what type of situation does allow for an exception? Unfortunately this is the only egg bank that my insurance provider works with. I'm sure they probably know that and therefore think I have no other options but to use them again. But given how much money we have already spent, paying them more money to potentially have the same outcome does not seem like a smart financial decision. Very disappointed.

I will forever be grateful for each and every one of them for making my dream come true!

I am writing this review in the hopes of helping other women in my situation. The main reason…read morefertility centers like GIVF make profit is women do not speak up specially when it comes to fertility issues . I was a patient at GIVF who signed up for multiple cycles of IVF for thousands of dollars which was paid in full before starting any treatments. I did not get to finish a single cycle and the reason was not just a failed IVF ! It was because I became sick due to high dose of injections Dr.Sarhan put me on . I was a perfect candidate for IVF according to them my numbers were great and they kept pushing me towards IVF because I was getting close to 40 . When I signed up with them unfortunately I did not do enough research . When you want to choose a fertility center you have to choose 1.A clinic with high "fertility success rate " which is called assisted reproductive technology (ART) data and is a public knowledge on CDC website 2. A center with newest technology and equipments 3. And most importantly knowledgeable and experienced doctors . They have none of the above . I have to clarify I was only treated by Dr.Sarhan which is apparently their main doctor and I do not know the other doctors. Their staff is nice and friendly I loved my nurse Laurel and Sarah and Divon were always caring and helpful . I started IVF with Dr.Sarhan . She started me with an egg retrieval protocol that was not a correct protocol for my age and it is not a frequently used protocol for someone in late 30's (based on consultations I had with multiple specialists including a very well known fertility institute in NYC afterwards ) so they had to stop the protocol after using half of injections . Later we started all over again they changed the protocol but with even higher dose of injection . According to the doctors I did the consult with afterwards , my dose of injection was extremely high and if the dose is too high they will retrieve eggs but the quality will change but that wasn't the only issue . I started feeling sick during egg retrieval ( to the point I could not resume my daily activities and could not swallow which was weird as I had friends who had undergone IVF )and started losing weight like 20 pounds . Little did I know that I had developed a Thyroid condition triggered by insanely high dose of hormones . Today after 2 years and being treated by 5 different endocrinologists and seeing the best endocrinologist in the country , I have not recovered yet . My endocrinologist believes that I have developed a rare case of autoimmune thyroid disease induced by very high dose of hormones . As a consequence of Dr.Sarhan's poor and careless treatment planning my life changed and I lost the chance of becoming a mother forever ! Also I have been dealing with serious health issues including heart condition and currently they are monitoring me for thyroid eye disease . Recently I asked them to send me a detailed receipt as I never finished treatments .When they changed each morning monitoring visit copay during egg retrieval to $948 per visit and according to their manager they had to change the fees to full office fees Because I had to stop treatments and contract was ceased ?! I decided to share my story . Basically they make more profit because I could not continue treatments due to my medical condition caused by them .This is who they are ! They only want to make profit and they do not care if their aggressive treatment protocols has messed up with someone's life . A lot of people get pregnant after 40 and I keep thinking what if I never got intimidated by Dr.Sarhan aggressive sales strategies . At least I would be healthy today or what if I selected the right fertility clinic and an experienced doctor . I will continue sharing my story to make sure that no one experiences what I went through . I absolutely do not recommend GIVF due to their aggressive financial strategies , poor practice management , their outdated technology and Dr.Sarhan specifically as a provider . Their annual success rate can be checked on CDC website at https://nccd.cdc.gov/drh_art/rdPage.aspx?rdReport=DRH_ART.ClinicInfo&ClinicId=461&ShowNational=0&islCycleTypes=T002

I urge you to read the recent Google review before you see Dr. hersh…read more All in all, it was one of the worst medical experiences of my life. I would give a zero if I could. If you are concerned about your age, weight, fertility, etc. do your self a favor and find someone else who will be kinder and less fat phobic. She's incredibly unprofessional and rude. I especially do not recommend seeing Dr. Hersh if you are struggling with infertility, have PCOS, or are overweight/obese. On my first visit for PCOS she painted the absolute worst case scenario for fertility, telling me I would likely need to spend up to $50,000 on IVF to conceive my first child if I don't lose weight. This was before reading any of my medical records or talking to me about my concerns. I'm all for realistic information and don't want things sugar coated, but Dr. Hersh was thoughtless and hurtful. Further, I'm 34 and she told me I needed to freeze my eggs asap or else my kid would be more likely to get a host of terrible genetic conditions. I got several other opinions and they were all much more fact based on risks and said at this point my husband and I didn't need to worry about freezing my eggs upon actual medical testing. They were so much more positive and kind. Dr. Hersh also did not give me any warning before putting the clamps in during my appointment. Also the nurse couldn't figure out how to draw my blood and it took many mess ups and a supervisor to get it out. Of course it sometimes take a few tries but this was not normal.

That being said, I went ahead and gave Dr. Hersh a try. I waited for at least an hour and a half during my first appointment. Yes, she was thorough during the few minutes we met. It was impossible to schedule a follow-up session since I had to reschedule. However, I finally found a spot and waited a month for the follow-up appointment. That was last week. My appointment was at 1PM. I got there, checked in and paid my co-payment without delays by 1PM. I informed them that I had to leave for a conference call at 1:45PM. I waited in the lobby for 15 minutes. No one called me. I asked the front desk to see when I would be seen. They said another 15 minutes. 1:30PM came and went. Finally, I asked for a refund at 1:35PM and left. They told me Dr. Hersh spends quality time with her patients. If that were the case, I said, why would you schedule appointments so closely to each other?! There is NO respect whatsoever. Punctuality is not even available in this office. I DO NOT recommend this practice.
