I am currently 8 months pregnant and long overdue in writing a positive review of the exceptional services provided by WFC! Nurse Marcela, Olivia, and Dr. Asmar provided excellent medical care and were always warm and kind with their bedside manner. The front office staff started to know who we were by only a few months in, which added to the warmth. And while we didn't require language translation services, we saw many patients use those services with seemingly positive interactions. We appreciated their transparent pricing and efficient approach with cycle monitoring especially as our fertility journey was not cheap. Being a queer couple going through this process, they never batted an eye making us both feel welcome throughout the process. They answered all the questions we had and we could tell they were comfortable with providing fertility services to many queer families before us. I especially appreciated the post-positive result monitoring up until week 10 to set me on the right course for prenatal care. And they gave us our future child's first stuffed bear upon graduation, to boot! I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and to return to them for any future fertility needs. read more

I highly recommend this clinic if you are having trouble with fertility. Dr. Asmar and Olivia, NP are knowledgeable, caring, and to the point. They actually care about you. I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for care. I visited in August of 2021 as a new patient and during my Hysterosalpingography (HSG) they gave me a pelvic infection upon which they referred me to the ER. I was given 3 different antibiotics from which it took my body months to reset and the infection itself was extremely painful and lasted more than a week - even with the antibiotics. I was uneasy during the test because it seemed like the staff members were all new hires and the doctor had to keep stopping to provide basic instructions to them. They also constantly swapped back and forth between handling medical instruments and their iPad. I was not confident that the procedure was sterile and proceeded against my better judgement. Now, I've found a new clinic and have requested records and have been told it will take two weeks to get them even though I've been told that they should already have been loaded in my patient portal but they're not. I have very low confidence I will receive them in time for my next appointment at the other clinic. read more

If I could rate the Alexandria office below a #1 I would. The doctor I used quit directly after my procedure. I have had a billing issue for 3 years that is still unresolved. The billing coordinator Shaun and Lan are extremely rude. They keep sending me collection notices with different amounts for the same service even though I provided a receipt that my account was paid in full. I have debated suing this office as the stress has delayed my process in attempting to get pregnant. This is the short version of my experience. Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. I have had an amazing experience here and am very hopeful to be pregnant soon. Carol in reception is an angel and put my mind right at ease. MD Asmar was busy but I never ever felt rushed and he cares and takes the time to answer all questions asked/ he is really an emotionally present and caring physician. As for my OR experience it was amazing/ admittedly I had a panic attack on the table as everything became real for me and they were SO kind to me/ I felt like family. They told me I would do amazing and let me know the meds I was receiving and the nurse even took the time to rub my head as this is what my husband does when I get anxious. I'm still very touched and everyone there just seemed so caring and understanding. I do appreciate the care I received here and am praying for a child very soon. After almost three years we went back to see Dr. Asmar and it was just as great as the first time, if not better. He is an amazing and caring doctor. My wife wanted to go back to see him to get his help and feedback for our particular case. He explained us every detail we needed to know and was very careful with my wife. We ended up getting pregnant without any help, but still he wanted to make sure baby and mommy were ok before going to the OBGYN. This business is a complete scam. Dr Asmar and his staff couldn't be less responsive. It took months for this futility center to advise out first donor had disclosed not to proceed. They only provided updates when prompted. Their service was poorly planned and executed. They over billed us $300 after we paid more than $20000. I'm going to try and make this as short and smooth as possible. If your dignity is important stay away from this place!!! a patient complained about having to pay $400.00 for her RX out of pocket I researched and addressed the matter and it was the offices error that she had to pay for the RX. I made a statement that clearly got under the M.A Lan Nyugen skin, I said :someone dropped the ball" and because I said that 3 times never addressing anyone directly or getting in anyone's space she thought it was OK to jump out of her seat and in my face pointing her finger and say "DON'T EVER SAY I DROP THE BALL" this happened in Aug. as the days go by she is becoming very indignant tossing papers etc. fast fwd to Sept. at this point I feel like I'm being backed in a corner, I request a meeting. I start the meeting by stating :if I have ever disrespected or been rude to anyone in this office I apologize, I turned to Lan and stated I feel you owe me an apology she sat beside the Dr. shook her head NO I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE TO YOU, YOU SAID 3 TIMES SOMEONE DROPPED THE BALL AND I FELT LIKE I NEEDED TO BE EYE LEVEL WITH YOU!!! the Dr. then turns to me and states " I CANT MAKE HER APOLOGIZE BUT I APOLOGIZE ON HER BEHALF MAYBE YOU SHOULD PICK YOUR WORDS DIFFERENT THEY COULD OFFEND PEOPLE" at that very moment the meeting was over! the Dr. then tried to convince me to let it go forgive and forget even asking me " AM I A CHRISTIAN DO I BELIEVE IN GOD" absolutely I do however being in the medical field and working for some of the biggest hospitals and corporations for over 20yrs!! I've never in my life felt or been so disrespected and had no HR rep or anything to handle the situation properly. As the days are going by one morning I'm trying to get into the office because the door is locked Lan stood in the front of the office and listened to me knock I had to call someone who was busy to come to the front and let me in. As the days continue to go by there is alot of tension in this small office and the Dr. is starting to treat me different his tone is changing his demeanor has changed and the environment became very uncomfortable and i have officially removed myself. I have filed a complaint with EEOC and I also have my lawyer looking into this matter as well!! I have received a tubal reversal and a full IVF cycle with all the bells and whistles. Both procedures were paid in full up front! And I kept receiving notices from my insurance company for denial of coverages so I called the front desk and let them know to stop billing my insurance company and I was told to disregard the notice. Then today I get a bill in the mail for 5800$$!!! A YEAR LATER FOR SERVICES I ALREADY PAID FOR!!! I had even received a refund from them because I paid for embryo storage and I don't have embryos to store. What a scam! Beware! It's totally unacceptable! read more

I see that no one has reviewed this practice in a year. I was apprehensive to go after reading the reviews, and I called my primary OB/GYN office for a recommendation to this practice, and they came highly recommended. I went to the Reston office. First impressions: the waiting room is beautiful- like a Victorian mansion. Angela greeted me after I signed in and she finished with a patient. She was friendly and courteous. I waited about 15 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. I met with Dr. Susan Sarajari, who came out to the waiting room to get me. I was there for an initial consultation. We spoke in her office- she went over in detail the steps/what to expect. She repeated herself so I could keep up with my note-taking. She gave me plenty of time to ask questions and made sure twice that she had answered everything for me. She walked back out to the front desk with me. We discussed cost. As with any elective area of medicine (including cosmetic surgery, etc) in my personal experience, the doctor is always ready to proceed and confident of the outcome and next steps. However, there is that worry of how I as a patient will be able to afford it. She made sure that Angela answered questions about what my insurance would/would not pay for, and the cost of what they would not pay for. She told me when the large payment would be due. It was very helpful so that I could plan financially. Through the whole process I did not feel rushed or pressured into anything. Angela asked me to fill out the survey on their website but I also wanted to leave a review here. They are aware that they have poor reviews and it was obvious that they are trying to increase their patient satisfaction. I don't mention that as a bad thing. Isn't that the point of reviews: so that practices have feedback and can improve? I will write more reviews as I progress with this practice. read more

The receptionist was blatantly rude, mixed up my records, and failed to put my appointment in the calendar. We have been going to Washington Fertility since 2011. Dr Asmar and nurse Lan Nguyen are phenomenal. Dr. Asmar's attention to detail and bedside manner are top notch. Nurse Lan is Dr. Asmar's right hand and is extremely knowledgeable in the fertility field. My husband and I trusted these two over the past several years of our ups and downs of our fertility journey. Their compassion and determination to help us expand our family proved to be worth every penny now that we are blessed with TWO amazing children. We have formed great friendships with the lovely ladies who work the front desks. Their job is just as strenuous: making appointments, helping patients understand the billing process, listening to frustrated patients (those fertility meds can make you a tad moody) watching heartache and joy come and go... I rate this fertility center a 5 but if I could give them a higher rating I would. Everyone from the front desk, Carol and Angie, lab nurse Lysette, nurse Jamie, nurse Lan, Dr. Asmar, the anesthesiologists, the embryologists....EVERYONE is amazing. We have two (2013 and 2016) healthy and beautiful children and we could not have made this possible without this wonderful team. read more

My husband and I chose Washington Fertility because it was one of the clinics recommended by my primary care physician and seemed to have convenient offices for our needs. Prior to our first visit, I checked online reviews and found many negative ones. However, I didn't take this much to heart since most fertility clinics we researched had their fair share of negative reviews. Unfortunately, the reviews for Washington Fertility were correct and we also had a negative experience. We had great interactions with many of the staff there as well as the doctors (the two stars are for them at least). However, one staff member who we continually needed to interact with, Alondra, was just completely rude and unprofessional. She was constantly rude to me and my husband anytime we had a question or appointment, tried to charge us for items we had already paid for, and made us pay up front for services when it was covered by our insurance (other staff members did not proceed this way but let claims be run through our insurance first). The breaking point for me was when I returned a voicemail from another Washington Fertility staff member, that was asking me to call back to get my blood pregnancy results from a recent IUI. The voicemail said the results were not good, and I should call back to get more information. I did and received Alondra. She proceeded to argue with me on the phone that I did not listen to my voicemail correctly, and that no one asked me to call back. After her telling me at least three times that I "didn't listen to my voicemail message", she gave me the results. I was not pregnant (and I had already known this so I wasn't surprised) but her completely rude, argumentative and insensitive attitude in that situation was uncalled for. Nobody asked for sympathy at that point, but at least we shouldn't have had to feel like an inconvenience for completing a voicemail request to return a phone call to get our negative results-from a fertility clinic we were paying a lot of money to. After this, we decided it was time to switch clinics and requested a copy of our medical records. The records did not get mailed out in 15 days as required by VA state law (we sent our request on August 16 and they were mailed September 4). Alondra took our payment for the records by phone on August 27 and stated the forms would be mailed August 28. On September 4 when we hadn't received them and my husband called to follow-up Alondra told him "she doesn't work for the post office" and lied that I paid on August 28 and she mailed the records August 29. When we finally received the records on September 6, we noticed they were not even postmarked until September 4. Since Alondra refused to provide an itemized bill before we made the payment, when we received the forms, we discovered Alondra also overcharged us for some of the pages of my records (50 cents vs 25 cents for anything beyond 50 pages), and erroneously copied some pages of my husband's records twice and charged us of course. My husband sent an email requesting a refund because of the incorrect charges by VA law and the lateness (also against VA law). Neither Dr. Asmar or Alondra responded, so I suppose they are not concerned with leaving a negative impression on us as clients. We have since moved on to another clinic, and it is a 100% better experience. Dealing with infertility is stressful enough-dealing with Alondra just adds to it. Don't waste your time with Washington Fertility and Alondra. read more

We are grateful to Dr. Asmar and his team for helping us achieve our greatest accomplishment in life. A family. From the moment we met Dr. Asmar, and he said "So, you want to have a boobe (baby)?" (Read that with an accent like Franck (Martin Short) the wedding planner in Father of the Bride" we were in love. It has now been a total of 18 years since we FIRST stepped foot into the office. The team for the most part is still there (Sean, Lan & Carol) and of course Dr. Asmar. They laughed with us and cried with, fought with our insurance company when needed and were there 365 days a year. When you ovulate on Thanksgiving and need a transfer that day? He is there. We were amazed. We are now the proud parents of THREE boys and have Dr. Asmar to thank. If you want to have that personalized feel instead of just a number? Total RIP OFF - Total SCAM. I am in the process now of getting an attorney to sue for my money back. From the beginning Dr. Asmar, did the heavy upsell for the IVF "package" of over 25,000 dollars a month/cycle when I ONLY wanted to have IUIs done. After 5 months of paying for his fertility tests which I ONLY agreed to re-pay for (since my HMO at Kaiser already did those tests and agreed I was fertile but Kaiser does not provide IUI service) - and spending over 6,000 dollars - he told me he did not feel I was emotionally stable enough for him to do IUI's. But he never gave me my money back and MY THERAPIST - said I was emotionally stable enough to have the IUI's and get pregnant because I ALREADY have kids and we are FINE. By the way - this is my THIRD yelp - Dr. Asmar stays busy removing the bad and ACCURATE reviews and has had my previous two removed. read more

This year I decided to be an egg donor and I'm definitely pleased with my experience. The doctor (Dr. Pierre Asmar) and nurse practitioner (Dr. Jamie Feingold) have been very helpful and friendly from the beginning. The nurses, receptionists, and coordinator are also wonderful and provide great support. I feel like I've been taken care of and respected throughout the whole process. I can't speak for the other side of things, receiving eggs or going for fertility problems, but on the egg donor side of things, I speak very highly of WFC. I'd definitely go through the process again. read more

The good: Dr. Asmar has a wonderful bedside manner, and has wonderful expertise on infertility. Thanks to his diagnoses and treatment we were able to have our son. He is really a sweet man and I trust him implicitly. Lan (the ONLY coordinating nurse - more on that below) is also extremely personable and kind, and really knows her stuff. The bad: The office is severely understaffed and I rarely could get a nurse on the phone to answer my questions, much less Dr. Asmar. Communication is not always the best between Dr. Asmar and Lan, so more than once I had one of them tell me one thing only to have the other tell me the opposite a few minutes later. Also, Lan is the only coordinating nurse, and she goes home at 2:00, so if you have a question after that you're out of luck until the next day - and if you've gone through IVF before you know that often that's way too long to have to wait. The ugly: The receptionists seem professional and friendly at first, but on several occasions I have found both of them to be extremely unhelpful and even rude. When you're already going through one of the most stressful times in your life (not to mention pumped full of fertility drugs!) the last thing you need is to have to fight with someone on the phone to get test results or even just ask a simple question. I was reduced to tears multiple times. Bottom line, we love Dr. Asmar, but with such a poorly run office, it's just not worth it. We're going to Shady Grove if there's a next time. read more

If help, courtesy and availability is what you are looking for in a fertility doctor, then don't bother with Dr. Asmar. I found the staff to be rude and have a terrible attitude. That is not a good thing to have when you first come through the door of doctor. You expect the staff to be courteous, kind and able to answer your questions. I should have realized this upon my first visit. Dealing with their attitude alone for six months was hell. Be careful of what they tell you regarding the charges you will incur. If I hadn't mentioned some of the errors on our statement, I am sure they wouldn't have fixed them on their own. Only when I brought it to the manager's attention, she quickly adjusted the bill and stated it was a mistake. I could expect one mistake but not several. I guess their philosophy is if the patient doesn't catch it, we won't fix it. Dr. Asmar is another story. He would never return my calls. I understand doctors are busy, that's a given. But if one leaves over ten messages and the doctor couldn't return one phone call in two days, then he is not deserving of my time or my money. Speaking of which, he made us pay in full for certain things before he would do anything. I should have told him I would pay him in full when he learns to return a phone call. After six months of drama, I decided this was not the doctor for me. read more

The main doctor is more worried about growing the business then his clients at this point. We had to take the whole day off for every appointment. He was NEVER on time. Thank goodness, I read these reviews. I was at Washington Fertility a month ago. I thought my ob/gyn had recommended them (I found I was wrong). I called up for an appointment, and even before I could tell them what I was calling for, Carol took all my insurance information from me, asked me a bunch of questions. Then she made the appointment for God knows what. She asked me to fax a copy of insurance card after which she was going to tell me what my insurance covers. I went for the appointment 3 weeks later, and Carol had not yet sent me any information. When I get there she chides me for not completing the online forms. This comes from someone who has neglected her side of the work. Talk about bad customer service! I half made up my mind that I wasn't going through with them. Then I meet Dr. Sarjari to talk about freezing my eggs (not embryos). Carol forces my boyfriend to fill in his insurance info as well, all the while we are protesting that he has nothing to do with the appointment. When he says he does not want to give his SSN, this one flunkie very rudely tells him she does not want it and just wants his phone number. Carol and the other minions at the clinic are rude and have a very bad attitude. Done with the appointment, they are on your neck to get my boyfriend to get his sperm tested. We make it very clear many many times that we need information about what is covered by our insurance first, and they tell us sure sure. Been a month now and not a word from the clinic. Don't expect us back. I am glad I did the right thing. I was going to call Dr. Sarjari and tell her that she lost our business because of the very poor attitude of her staff, but from other reviews here it is apparent that the doctors' skills match their attitude. read more

A few years ago we came to the Washington Fertility Center and found Dr. Pierre Asmar to be very caring, encouraging, and genuinely interested in helping us. Dr. Asmar is always available when we need to talk and he explains things in just the right amount of detail. He is kind, gentle and we trust him and . His support staff is also really helpful and his Lab Director, Dr. Susan Daniel, is amazing. We have had experiences with other fertility centers without any success, but Dr. Asmar delivers great results. We now have a beautiful little girl and another baby on the way! on Sep 24th i had a tubal reversal. Everyone was caring and treated me very nice. I never had any billing issues and the receptionist would always greet me by name. They made me feel comfortable. Dr Susan was always open and honest with me and made me feel extreamly comfortable. On the day of my procedure their whole team was extreamly nice and caring. I would recommend them to anyone. Its been 3days since my reversal and I have not had any issues. And i plan on continuing to see Dr Susan and her team untill my husband and i do conceive. Do not beleive all the negtives that you read, go in and make your own opinion, I am sure glad that I did, because it was the best decsion my husband and I made. After seeing 2 reproductive doctors and not having much luck I did a search for a RE. I found Washington Fertility Center on a random search and I emailed them. I have a few issues that have been a problem in the past for some doctors. Well a couple days after A wonderful lady called Carol. She told me not to worry these issues would not be a problem. So I made an Appt. The first visit my mom and I walked in and was immediately greeted with such friendly staff. The first time I met Dr. Asmar he Hugged me and I just new that I had picked the right place. Dr. Asmar after the second or third visit found out my right tube was blocked and he got to work right away. After having a d&c and removing the polyps. Started the injections in the next 2 months. I have PCOS so it was gonna be difficult I knew because we had been through this with another doctor closer to home. I took the injections and it took a couple weeks to respond but once I did it flew on memorial day we had our IUI and I can happily say on the first try we were pregnant. The costs a lot cheaper than the previous place we HUD went and the staff I just love them all to he like to think they were my blessing to help us I still have 6 months to go bit everything is going good if I ever do this again there is no doubt in my mind that I have found the perfect place to l read more

Horrible experience. Office staff always seemed too busy. Dr. Sarajari was constantly out sick. Appointment was cancelled 53 minutes before the scheduled time and I was only notified via email. I didn't check my email until already at the office after a 45 minute drive. After 10 visits they still didn't know who I was. I had to answer the same questions every visit because they never could access my history. Dr. Asmar constantly was trying to diagnose me with PCOS even though he ruled that out in the first visit. Don't waste your time or money. I am still waiting for a refund from a procedure I never had. read more

The staff here truly is amazing. From day one with our visit with Dr. Asmar we felt like we were home. They are and were so attentive to us. They know us by name as soon as we walk in. We knew what we wanted at our consultation and were hoping they wouldn't try to talk us out of it. We had tried the IUIs with SGF on numerous occasions. That place is like a factory, we hated it. We decided we wanted to do IVF. We are a married lesbian couple and we wanted to do reciprocal IVF. Dr. Asmar was so excited and didn't try to talk us out of it at all. He was thorough on how the process would work and being veterans we got a 50% discount! We met with his coordinator, Lan, who I must admit at first I was not a fan of. She grows on you though, give her a chance. She's very busy and really knows what she's doing and she's very good at it. His nurse Jamie is great and will take the time to explain anything you have questions about. We really love walking into this place. They are so warm and inviting. We're pregnant on the first IVF try and froze some extras. We look forward to coming back after this one for another one! Also unlike other reviewers we saw Dr. Asmar on numerous occasions and he was always available via email or phone, along with his nurse and coordinator. I wish I could give them a negative rating. My wife and I were using their services and through deceptive language, they kept billing us for storage, long after we were done trying to conceive. We didn't know until we received a bill for past storage (unlike a normal place that would bill you at the start of a new cycle, they wait until after so they can say you owe them). Then, despite having filled out all the paperwork in advance for what would happen to samples if we stopped, they said we didn't do it so they could keep billing until they received a notarized statement. When I called to tell them that there must be a mistake since they were billing us for stuff that was a year prior and that we had stopped trying because it became too expensive, the billing woman LAUGHED at me. From the first phone call to my final post-op visit, the whole staff was very professional and caring. I found them on the internet when I was trying to find an affordable & nearby place to have my tubal ligation reversed. I live in Maryland: Shady Grove is closer, but very $$$$ and the only other affordable place I found was Dr. Berger in North Carolina. I have many odds stacked against me (42 yrs old, cut/cauterized tubal, etc), but Dr. Asmar was both realistic & encouraging with me. Even if I never become pregnant, I will still appreciate the wonderful service I received at this practice.
