I usually don't write reviews but I am just so thankful for the whole GIVF fertility family. I say family because that's how they made me feel! Dr. Udoff was so kind, respectful, and straight forward. I knew I was always in good hands. All of the nurses, front desk crew, ultrasound tech and even the embryologists knew my name and treated me like a member of the family. I am writing this review in the hopes of helping other women in my situation. The main reason fertility centers like GIVF make profit is women do not speak up specially when it comes to fertility issues . I was a patient at GIVF who signed up for multiple cycles of IVF for thousands of dollars which was paid in full before starting any treatments. I did not get to finish a single cycle and the reason was not just a failed IVF ! It was because I became sick due to high dose of injections Dr.Sarhan put me on . I was a perfect candidate for IVF according to them my numbers were great and they kept pushing me towards IVF because I was getting close to 40 . When I signed up with them unfortunately I did not do enough research . When you want to choose a fertility center you have to choose 1.A clinic with high "fertility success rate " which is called assisted reproductive technology (ART) data and is a public knowledge on CDC website 2. A center with newest technology and equipments 3. And most importantly knowledgeable and experienced doctors . They have none of the above . I have to clarify I was only treated by Dr.Sarhan which is apparently their main doctor and I do not know the other doctors. Their staff is nice and friendly I loved my nurse Laurel and Sarah and Divon were always caring and helpful . I started IVF with Dr.Sarhan . She started me with an egg retrieval protocol that was not a correct protocol for my age and it is not a frequently used protocol for someone in late 30's (based on consultations I had with multiple specialists including a very well known fertility institute in NYC afterwards ) so they had to stop the protocol after using half of injections . Later we started all over again they changed the protocol but with even higher dose of injection . According to the doctors I did the consult with afterwards , my dose of injection was extremely high and if the dose is too high they will retrieve eggs but the quality will change but that wasn't the only issue . I started feeling sick during egg retrieval ( to the point I could not resume my daily activities and could not swallow which was weird as I had friends who had undergone IVF )and started losing weight like 20 pounds . Little did I know that I had developed a Thyroid condition triggered by insanely high dose of hormones . Today after 2 years and being treated by 5 different endocrinologists and seeing the best endocrinologist in the country , I have not recovered yet . My endocrinologist believes that I have developed a rare case of autoimmune thyroid disease induced by very high dose of hormones . As a consequence of Dr.Sarhan's poor and careless treatment planning my life changed and I lost the chance of becoming a mother forever ! Also I have been dealing with serious health issues including heart condition and currently they are monitoring me for thyroid eye disease . Recently I asked them to send me a detailed receipt as I never finished treatments .When they changed each morning monitoring visit copay during egg retrieval to $948 per visit and according to their manager they had to change the fees to full office fees Because I had to stop treatments and contract was ceased ?! I decided to share my story . Basically they make more profit because I could not continue treatments due to my medical condition caused by them .This is who they are ! They only want to make profit and they do not care if their aggressive treatment protocols has messed up with someone's life . A lot of people get pregnant after 40 and I keep thinking what if I never got intimidated by Dr.Sarhan aggressive sales strategies . At least I would be healthy today or what if I selected the right fertility clinic and an experienced doctor . I will continue sharing my story to make sure that no one experiences what I went through . I absolutely do not recommend GIVF due to their aggressive financial strategies , poor practice management , their outdated technology and Dr.Sarhan specifically as a provider . We went through 2 rounds of IVF with GIVF, and I was incredibly impressed by the entire team throughout the whole journey. Every person I interacted with was incredibly kind, uplifting, encouraging, and empathatic, and it made a challenging experience actually enjoyable. I have multiple friends who have gone down this path with other centers, and many did not have positive experiences. I am so grateful I was referred to GIVF, and I would recommend them in a heartbeat. They are exceptional. read more

The doctor that performed the procedure had a very thick accent. Had to ask her to repeat herself several times, and honestly I didn't get the best vibe from her, but she was professional. The genetics counselor who debriefed us was very easy to understand and helpful with all our questions. They've got this really cool saltwater aquarium on the 3rd floor including Nemo and family, as well as Dory and friends. =P Too early to say we are fans, but it was a good experience overall. read more

Dr. Stern is an absolute gem of a doctor. I was referred to this practice by my OB after an unfortunate encounter with a chromosomal issue. While my OB at a different practice had terrible bedside manner informing us about the potential issue, which left us with more questions than answers, we were fortunate to have Dr Stern for the remainder of our appointments through the difficult trek. We had an hour long video consultation with him where he educated us on the issue leaving no question unanswered and providing us with words of reassurance and support as we realized our pregnancy would not make it much further due to all the complications. My husband and I constantly exclaimed that we felt so much better (as better as we could given the situation) after our consultation with him. The next week, during the CVS procedure, he talked me through every step and explained everything very clearly. He again offered his words of advice and comfort and made us feel like we mattered and weren't just another patient. Our last interaction with him was over the phone when we got the results of our CVS. Again, he explained everything clearly and offered words of comfort and wished us all the best. Crossing paths with such an amazing doctor, after having an absolutely terrible experience with my OB, was the silver lining in and otherwise not so great experience as we prepared to lose our pregnancy. Today, I had a consultation with Dr. Sarhan at the Genetic and IVF nstitute in Fairfax. I had previously provided all the required documents for her to review prior to my visit. To my surprise,right off the bat she made it clear that she categorically refuses to perform IVF procedures on individuals aged 45 or older.. Unfortunately, I recently celebrated my 46th birthday, which led her to consider the procedure as a waste of money for me. While I appreciate her concern for my financial well-being, it would have been more appropriate for her to mention this age restriction on her website or instruct the administrators not to accept patients over the age of 45. This experience left me deeply disappointed and caused a significant waste of both my time and money. Doctors should demonstrate compassion towards their patients and make every effort to ensure their satisfaction, rather than delivering disheartening news after collecting deductibles.More importantly, she disrespets other doctors' opinions. Personally, I believe she is out of touch with the latest treatments.I strongly advise against choosing this doctor or institute. read more

This review is for their Nurse and financial department. They have no idea what they are doing! Sent them all my medical reports and they were scheduling the same tests that I had recent reports on already. Made me come in at 730 AM for an appointment and didn't communicate that insurance authorization didn't take place prior to the appointment. Nurse director was blaming the whole thing on me instead of owning up to their fault of not communicating about my insurance situation. She was not even letting me speak during our discussion. read more

This is the clinic that gave us our precious little one, so I am slightly biased :) However, before deciding to use their services, I researched every scrap of information I could find on every local RE, from the CDC-mandated success rate disclosures, to local message boards and medical certification forums. My husband and I narrowed our options down to three, interviewed with all -- Dr. Udoff and his team were our ultimate choice. I was looking for a practice with a strong reputation and solid success rates that did not cherry-pick its cases (i.e. not afraid to take on older clients/more complicated medical histories.) Everyone that we came in contact with, from Dr. Udoff, to our wonderful nurse -- Jenny, to the fabulous ultrasound tech -- Elena, was kind, compassionate and always willing to answer questions and help us through the (many) rough patches that make up the infertility journey. As I was about to go under for the egg retrieval, Dr. Udoff must have noticed the panicked look in my eyes, as much as I was trying to keep it together (first time under anesthesia), patted my arm and murmured some words of reassurance. That small gesture sticks out in my mind as emblematic of the care and consideration I received from my doctor and from the GIVF team. I owe them an eternal debt of gratitude and could not recommend them more highly. read more

If I could give this business negative 5 stars I would have. This was literally the worst experience of my life. I feel like we were given just exactly the information that we needed. I wanted more. I wanted suggestions for prenatal vitamins and supplements. Diet tips. Activity advice for after my transfer. I wanted an education and option regarding my fertility. We spent 38k our of pocket here and I learned more from my online FB support groups than I did my own doctor. They were unwilling to try anything different. Poor problem solving skills. It really just felt like they were just interested in taking our money. We had 3 failed FETs. All PGS tested! We were only doing this process to use my wife's eggs. We are both healthy and young. There was literally no reason why we shouldn't have gotten pregnant. You are just a number here!!!! Find a more compassionate doctor. Someone who didn't just get into this business for the money!! And remember they are all businesses. read more

Dr. Stern is a fantastic geneticist and a wonderful person. I had three successful CVS with him. The first two times I met with a genetic counselor but I dealt with only Dr. Stern the third (and hopefully) last time. The CVS is an invasive process. It hurts. But Dr. Stern and his staff are competent, efficient and kind. Even the blood draw didn't hurt ‍. read more

Wife and I chose this place after we had a meet and greet and we are so happy we did. The staff is so great, helpful, informative, and caring. Growing your family or trying to have a baby is such a personal, emotional, and draining process, so having a supportive fertility group is vital to the experience. I have read bad reviews of other clinics regarding scheduling and how it was so difficult and it would end up messing up their cycle - Scheduling here was AWESOME and we NEVER had any problems. You could always count on a follow-up email or phone call. We are currently 7 weeks with our first baby and praying and hoping for a happy and healthy 9 months! Highly recommend! Side Note - we first visited Shady Grove in Waldorf because the location was much closer and did not like the doctor at all. read more

Bad bad expirience Very impersonal, the woman who did our IUI we never met before, she came out wearing civilian clothes and said her name was Jessica and she is gong to put sperm in. She did and then said if we get pregnant it's all her:), that wS not funny. Today it got to the point where it really hurt. We did the 3 day monitoring paying $1540 for next IUI, they found cyst and told us we have to cancel this cycle and then charged us over $900. What for? Really? Cause you gave us clomid for two month and now we have overian cyst that you say has nothing to do with clomid?? That's is like second side affect of clomid. Do not go there. They will take your money and that's it. read more

I only wish I could give zero stars. I used this company as the provider for a lot of donor eggs. The lot they sold me was of such poor quality that zero eggs grew into embryos. It was emotionally devastating to go through this process, made worse by the fact that this abhorrent company refused to refund my money. According to the CEO- "we deal in human tissue- there are no guarantees". So, I get no chance at a baby, and they keep my $12,500. Buyer beware. read more

This place may as well be called the "Genetics & IVF Institute for Rich People Only." After inquiring about the cost of IVF with PGD/PGS, I asked several questions that I thought were reasonable, such as "do you offer payment plans," "do you get your money back if you do not take home a baby" and "what types of loan programs do you offer?" The answers to these questions were "no", "no" and "you need to find your own loan program." Even better, the "financial counselor" actually stated "many of our patients just put everything on their credit card." If you are not part of the 1% (or less) of people who have tens of thousands of dollars just lying around, forget about going here! read more

My husband and I are in an IVF cycle currently; implantation is to happen Monday. I wanted to write a review now so I don't skew it based on the results of the implantation. It is important to note that this is our second experience with a DC-area fertility clinic. The first experience was not at all positive (just abad experience with the staff and doctor), so we switched to GIVF before we started any treatment at the other place. I made an appointment using the on-line appointment form, and was very surprised to receive a call early Monday morning. We scheduled a consultation with the doctor and began to arrange to have our medical records transferred. before the appointment, I received a call from a financial counselor who may be the nicest person on earth. She was very helpful both on the phone and via email. We met with Dr.Lincoln who told us that one thing that makes his clinic different is the level of service. In retrospect, I can say I wholeheartedly agree there. I highly recommend this clinic primarily because of the outstanding service level....many healthcare providers seem to forget that they are a service-oriented industry. Dr.Lincoln was very direct with us, was not judgemental (see my experience with Shady Grove Fertility clinic in another review!), and managed to be warm but professional at the same time. From there we went to meet with the nurse, who also may be competing for title of nicest person on earth (everyone at givf was nice, informed, and helpful, just FYI.) After meeting with the nurse, we met with a financial person. She pretty much spelled out our insurance coverage and our out-of-pocket costs...and helped us find ways of saving a few $$$ (they gave us pharm samples of the most expensive drug which saved us about $1300.) We started IVF treatment and every step of the way we were guided by staff of the clinic. They reviewed meds with us, both on the phone and during the medication class (to new patients....this is VERY important as med screwups can result in a lost cycle); they were available via email and phone around the clock; they answered all questions thoughfully; oh, and they are open on Saturdays and Sundays, so you're cycle is NOT based on what works best for their office hours. Mostly I can say that everyone at GIVF has been highly professional, warm, precise, thoughful, and aware of our needs. The day of the retrieval I had no nervousness. Saturday morning we received the call letting us know that our implantation would be Monday (!!!) I very much recommend this fertility center. And will update with the results of Monday's implantation :) read more

I had my sonogram here and first trimester screens here and if I had these tests at my regular OB's office, I would not have had anyone to really explain the tests. The genetic counselor I saw explains the tests better than my doctor does. My doctor even ran a 2nd trimester test without asking me about it first. I did not want the test and it has a high false positive rate. Genetics and IVF called me back at almost 6pm after I left a message because I was concerned. My OB had not even contacted me and I was worried about the results and next steps after this test that I did not know was going to be performed by the OB. Mary, at GIVF, even explained to me how the FTS I had replaced the Quad screen in 2007 and was more accurate than the 2nd trimester Quad screen. Both my first trimester screens had been low or very low risk. So, I was pretty shocked to get this other result from my OB and then not even know the test had been run on me. Thank God for GIVF is all I can really say. Professional staff and the genetic counselor explained each test and procedure. I wish I could have all my OB Care at a facility of this caliber. Relaxing waiting room complete with a salt water fish tank. They even have WiFi in the waiting room. I really liked the person I met with because she let me know all of the risks and rates of accuracy of each screen. It was a good experience. The sonogram tech was just amazing. The woman who drew my blood was excellent and friendly as well. You cannot go wrong with this place for genetic or first trimester screens. They even fit me in on short notice for my first trimester screens because my regular OB was off with my due date and the screen was time dependent. read more

Good luck making an appointment! It took me a week of getting hung up on, put on hold for over 10 minutes, and I even tried emailing the "contact us" link on their website, and never got a response. I'm researching other providers who are more "user friendly!" No way I'm going to an office run like this. read more

Selecting a fertility clinic is a very important part of the entire IVF process. We tried another popular clinic in town first and didn't feel like we were getting personalized care. After two failed cycles, we decided to look elsewhere and thankfully found GIVF and Dr. Moragianni. We had our first consultation in July of 2016 and she graciously spent over an hour with us explaining our options and the process. Immediately after that initial visit, we felt confident and decided to move forward with GIVF. From that point on, we received amazing service. The staff is extremely friendly and kind and they were so patient with us as we asked dozens of questions. After a while, our nurse (Valerie) and Dr. M felt like family. The service we received in the office, via email and phone was prompt and the guidance was clear. We are thankful to say that we are pregnant today, January 2017 with our first child. We are in our mid and late forties so this is truly a miracle and GIVF made our dream come true! Thank you GIVF!!! read more

If you are looking for a facility that treats people like human beings rather then subjects of an experimental drug treatment study, this facility is not for you. I was flabbergasted when i observed the Cryolab keeps the door between the waiting room and the collection room open at all times. Although it does not seem like a big deal, I prefer not to see another male exiting his room carrying a clear collected sample bottle. A bigger disappointment came when the receptionist invited me to the back and then asked if she could have a second to clean the room. She went back to the lab and returned with one glove to clean the room I was about to use. I must say there is nothing better to help you prepare for sample collection than being immediately reminded that another male just finished masterbating in the same room. When the room was finally available, noted the chair provided was still wet. Although the wetness was likely from cleaning, who wants the visual or wants to even wonder the origin of the substance. I thought the experience could not get much worse, until i heard the door(s) to the other room(s) opening and closing while I was in the process. All of these things are minor when compared to the possibility of having a child, but one would think GIVF would understand the emotional drain of infertility and would employ practices that allow customers to keep their dignity along the way. read more
