Danger - be aware of bait & switch. We signed a lease (which requires full upfront payment) for our…read moreson after Yaz sent us photos to choose the style of room. What we got when we showed up in Foggy Bottom was completely different. First, we learned Olympus Housing did not have management rights for the apartment, completely in violation of the lease we signed which stated Olympus had rights to sublease the apartment. A different company held the lease on the apartment, so when we showed up, no one from Olympus was there and the rep for this other company had no idea what room we agreed on with Yaz. My son was put in a small, but reasonable room for the first week, then they abruptly moved him to another apartment, in an interior, windowless room. Because we didn't sign the lease with this other company, Yaz pretended he had no ability to make changes. We now understand this is their scam. They retrofit these apartments, adding extra rooms with no windows, or locking doors, in order to jam multiple people in each apartment. His room was less than 60sqft, had no windows and the walls were made from bookshelves. These are all building code violations. It seems Olympus Housing & this other company are tricking summer interns into signing leases, then sticking them into cramped apartments that they cut up into multiple rooms. There were other safety violations (no smoke detectors, mice infestations) and we were forced to move our son to safer apartment. We tried to negotiate with Yaz for a refund however, he refused and is not returning calls or emails. We are still pursuing other means to get our money back. We strongly urge caution when dealing with Olympus.

We said we would take it and were told they would send us a lease. Never saw the lease, called several times and left messages. Never received a call back. Have to say, we were not impressed and if this is how they handle business, I would think twice before signing a lease. We moved on and are looking else where.

I just moved in and I have to say I'm impressed with this place so far…read more The amenities here are top notch, and the location can't be beat. Literally right next to the metro where you can get everywhere basically, a bunch of food places and stores, etc. The front desk staff is really friendly and was helpful on day one when I was extremely stressed. I like the layout of my apartment, the four elevators so you don't have to wait too long, the view from the window, and even the nice touches the staff threw in like a roll of paper towels and dish soap. I've never had that before and it's cool. Even my garage spot is pretty great, it is a few garage floors down but it's right by the elevator so I like that. Minor things not worth taking a star off, but move-in was a little weird as I was told I could park in the loading dock but then I was told onsite that I had to park in the future resident space. A little miscommunication there but no big deal. the finish on the appliances is really easy to chip- I had a scrape on the fridge moving in. There's also not a ton of storage space, and it's a little Tetris playing to get everything to fit especially if you are coming from a place with much more storage, although the walk in closet does help with that.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. DO NOT LIVE HERE. We've experienced countless…read moreissues with this apartment complex, and we are finally moving out in May -- counting down the days. What happened today was the final straw and made me sit down to write this review. Let's start with the front desk staff: rude, unwelcoming, and consistently unhelpful. They never greet you, and if you ask for anything, it's like you're inconveniencing them. Here are just a few of the problems we've dealt with: * Guest Parking: We've noticed guest cars parked without passes multiple times. There was even a night we couldn't get a spot. We reported it, and they claimed they'd handle it -- of course, nothing was ever done. * Second Parking Spot: We asked several times for an additional parking spot. They kept saying there weren't any available, even though half the garage sits empty and no one parked next to my boyfriend for months. Instead, they suggested we rent a space at their "sister building" across the street -- for $200/month. They described this as "gracious" and "cost-effective." How is $200 a month for a spot not even in the building either of those things? * Loading Dock Reservation: My boyfriend emailed to reserve the loading dock for our move-out. He had to follow up after they initially ignored him. When they finally responded with available times, he replied with our preferred time -- and got no confirmation. So I went to the front desk to make sure we were set. The man working there was extremely rude and abrasive. He aggressively grabbed the binder and snapped, "Why is he saying I didn't respond? I responded." I calmly explained I just wanted to confirm our reservation. He was dismissive and disrespectful, and tossed the binder aside. Other issues worth mentioning: * Ring Camera: We installed a Ring camera and were told to take it down -- despite there being nothing in the lease prohibiting it. They said they would send a community-wide notice about removing cameras. That never happened. Makes you wonder -- why are they so concerned about cameras? Are they entering apartments when residents aren't home? * HVAC Issues: Our heat was out of control in the winter. Even with the HVAC on, our unit reached 75° and we had to sleep with the window open to stay comfortable. There are plenty of other places to live -- do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. *EDIT* The only reason this review is one star and not zero is because of the maintenance staff. They are the one bright spot in this place -- extremely friendly, quick to respond, and genuinely good at their jobs. I have nothing but positive things to say about them.

The house director Daniel cares deeply about the residents in the house and is always trying to find new ways to make the house even better. Resident feedback and suggestions are taken seriously and usually they are incorporated when possible. Since the house closed the kitchen and switched to catered meals the food quality has improved exponentially! I really enjoyed my meals from here as I thought the catering team did a great job! While the pandemic did prevent in person events from occurring for quite some time, the house has had some great events recently now that restrictions have been lifted. If you want a great living experience and the opportunity to meet people from all over the world who work in a variety of fields and are very accomplished in those fields then this is the place for you. The house is very much a community and thrives off engagement amongst the residents. If you're anti-social and not interested in learning from others then I'd recommend you look elsewhere

I'd give the ISH five stars, because it is so affordable, but 30 dollars was a bit much to sleep on an extremely uncomfortable mat on the floor. :/ However, four full stars for the friendly and accommodating people, top notch food, location, and house activities!
