Wow, super impressed with this Marriott! The staff was very helpful during check in. We were offered a crib (without asking) for our 10 month old son. They ran out of teddy bears initially, so they gave my son a little rubber ducky. The front desk offered to send up a teddy bear once they arrived (he got a panda!). We were provided maps of the area and a list of the many nearby restaurants. Location is great; the hotel is about equidistant from Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom Metro stations. We had no problem walking to the Metro stations to explore DC. The room was always cleaned and the king sized bed was comfortable and relaxing. Kudos to the valet attendants for saving me money. To my surprise, overnight parking was $49. After getting my car valeted, I explored other options. I used the SpotHero app to find a cheaper garage to park my car. I had already been parked at the Marriott for about 8 hours over night when I moved my car to the other garage. The attendant escorted me to the front desk to let them know to remove me from the overnight parking list. read more

The "Georgetown" part in the name of this hotel is a bit of a misnomer, as it is almost a 15 minute walk from Georgetown, and is conveniently located in the West End, within striking distance of a lot of restaurants and bars. I booked a room using points, and also used a suite upgrade, which is a perk of my Elite status. The staff at this hotel was so warm and welcoming (especially Genet, who checked me in), and made me feel connected with every interaction. My room and bathroom was very spacious, clean, and well lit. The TVs in both the living room as well as the bedroom are MASSIVE, and there is internet TV available, so I was able to watch Hulu and Netflix using my accounts. My only complaint is that the suite didn't have a bath tub, only a shower, and the walls are really THIN, so I could hear conversations from the next room. My bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning was quiet and perfectly regulated. The hotel is close to the Foggy Bottom Metro, and is easily accessible ($10-$15 Uber ride) from most tourist attractions, as well as a 25 minute metro ride away from the DCA. As other reviewers have pointed out, the M club is amazing - open 24/7, with a variety of healthy snacks, fruits, juices, water, and soft drinks available. The Wi-Fi is free for Elite members, and there is a gym onsite as well, but I was only there for a night and didn't have a chance to properly check out either. I'd gladly be back here for a future stay in the city! Props to the staff for treating guests so warmly. read more

The room was nice and fresh. And pretty roomy, even. I ordered a small refrigerator, and one was quickly delivered. It was inoperative, of course, and looked like it had been used for target practice on the mortar range. They quickly provided a working unit. I guess i need to be more specific when I order things The bathroom door was delaminating. The shower/water temp fixture was of the suicide variety, either too hot or too cold. The flow could not be adjusted. My bed was very comfortable, as were the four or five pillows on the bed. I slept well, and there was very little outside noise to disturb me. As far as inside noise, there was the HVAC. Ever been at Moffett Field when they cranked up the wind tunnel? The Wi-Fi charge for the room was $13 per day, but it was free in the lobby. That's a head-scratcher. There are two laptops available in the lobby "For Printing Boarding Passes ONLY", but people used them for everything else, and nobody minded. In the morning, coffee was free in the lobby, and so were several newspaper editions. That was nice. The staff was quite pleasant. The elevators were fast enough. The location was swell, and the price was right. Yeah, I would stay here again. I'm just not that picky. read more

A clean and modern hotel in a great location! I recently stayed here on a business trip. We have a very tight travel budget so I was looking for a good rate for a hotel within walking distance of my conference that was also not too far away from the airport. The Washington Marriott had the cheapest rates I could find. it is still a little pricey but for DC it's a great deal. The hotel was modern and non-cheesy. I hate the horrible framed art and 1984 patterned linens you find in some places but you won't see any of that here. The rooms were clean, with well kept furniture and quality linens. The bed was comfortable, water pressure was good and they had a great coffee/tea station in the room. The front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable and were able to give me great recommendations for meals (which you know I checked the reviews on Yelp!) and they were indeed excellent restaurants. I was able to walk down to Dupont Circle and there were many stores close by - including a Walgreens right down the street in case you forgot something like me! There is also an adorable little used book store straight down the street that you shouldn't miss. I would definitely stay at the Washington Marriott again and highly recommend it to others. read more

This was an ideal place to stay and way to stay for a recent long weekend trip to Washington D.C. with a friend. The staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating and the location proved to be ideal for us to travel on foot, by bus or subway or by cab. We arrived prior to the designated check in time but a room was ready and we happily deposited our luggage and headed out. One of my pet peeves at hotels is how loudly guest room doors slam which can be a really disruptive noise throughout the night. Thankfully these are not those doors. The fitness room provided a nice mix of machines, free weights, treadmills etc. and the heated, indoor pool is right next door. Clean towels, complimentary ear plugs, water and fruit are also thoughtfully provided. It was too cold for running outdoors so this was a nice alternative that enabled me to start the day with an invigorating workout. The bar and lobby area always seemed to have folks hanging out and the service at the bar was pleasant, prompt and attentive. I did not eat at the restaurant but did enjoy the hospitality at the concierge lounge and found it to be fabulous. The staff members who hosted the lounge during my stay were outstanding. They greeted everyone (and seemed to know quite a few by first name) and made the experience truly exceptional. It is easy to put out some food and drinks but the professional, personable level of service made every visit there feel exceptional. From the front desk to the concierge, and the parking attendants to housekeeping, the staff seemed to go above and beyond at every opportunity. I can not remember ever having that experience anywhere else and I would definitely look forward to experiencing it again. read more

Okay, I have a beef - as pointed out by others, this hotel is *not* in Georgetown. It's in the lovely West End, and conveniently located to lots of lovely places, but this ain't Georgetown, babe. That said, this is a lovely Marriott property. My room was quiet and cool enough despite the August heat and had a small fridge and a lovely bathroom with a shower (I was a little bummed there was no tub). The bed was a delight, as I expected! And the service was good as well. Will happily stay here for future stays in the Dupont/Foggy Bottom area. read more

Typical corporate Marriott style. Well-run property. Full of working types during week & tourists over weekend. Staff lived up to Marriott service standards by fixing a non-draining shower problem at midnight (sent an employee to clear it, & when that didn't work, offered to either move us to another room, or fix it the next day). A few things the other reviews didn't mention: - on the same block as a 24/7 drugstore (a large Walgreens) -- convenient for a quick drop-in for needed stuff. - across the street from a good restaurant/bar that's open pretty late (if you want dinner/drinks outside of this property & don't want to go far) - easy 5-15 min walking distance from various other restaurants/bars around West End. Seemed safe to walk around in the evenings (lots of other women out walking solo, which is one of my measures for neighborhood safety). read more

I stay here for work every week, and this is a review based on having status for Concierge lounge amenities. Overall, the Marriott does its job, it has a big 24 hour gym with a lot more equipment than most hotel gyms, a pool / jacuzzi, a lounge with a good selection of food / snacks / drinks, and more tv channels than the Westin down the street. So overall, it serves a very livable status. The rooms themselves are old and could use work, I find it difficult to sleep sometimes because of the AC / heating system taking awhile to adjust to its setting, and the bathrooms are pretty small. Otherwise, it is pretty good to stay at. And the staff is very friendly! read more

After calling more than a week before to request a room with a King size bed and being assured that we would get one if it was available, when we got there we were told that we had only paid for a room with 2 double beds, and that while King size beds were available, double beds is what we would be getting. This hotel is recommended for its superbly convenient location, which happens to be very close to the Kennedy Center. Valet parking is available out front and cabs are easy to get wherever you want to go. Mr. Johnson at the front desk was a pleasure, as was our server, Bounma, in the Atrium Restaurant. Our room itself was a nicely decorated, modern, generously sized suite with couch, chairs, desk, and comfy king-size bed, which was nicely appointed . ( I enjoyed the small reading lamps in the headboard for hooking up the cell phone charger.) For those of you looking for it, the safe is in the top bedside drawer, not parked in plain sight, which I actually appreciated. Unfortunately, for this price point the bathroom was minuscule, as was the closet and vanity area. I enjoyed the lovely breakfast buffet served right down the hall on our floor by a most congenial staff. The lounge area has comfy seating with a good view of the west side of the city and large screen TV turned down low on CNN, so you can get on your way quickly with no hassle. I stayed at this hotel for a 4-day business trip, and overall it was a great experience. Positives: Everyone, including Kevin at the front desk, Ben who may have been a bell boy, and Yodit at the hotel's restaurant provided excellent service; each of these staff members were committed to ensure my stay was pleasant. The hotel was very clean and the decor of the lobby, restaurant, and conference rooms was contemporary. The hotel was located within walking distance to Georgetown, Dupont Circle, and many restaurants. Since I was staying at this hotel on a business trip, it is not located near major tourist attractions. Negatives: The hotel had three elevators that were very slow. It appeared that not all of the elevators were operating at the same time because I had to wait at least two minutes for one of the elevators to arrive. Wifi was not reliable in the lobby nor restaurant, so I had to request wifi service in the room. Although the room's decor was outdated, it was clean. I got a room that had a view of a parking lot, so it wasn't a pleasant sight. There was a problem with fruit flies in the conference rooms, restaurant, and lobby. Their presence must have been related to the unpleasantly warm and humid weather Washington DC was experiencing during my visit in early August 2013. read more

Rooms are nice and include plug ins on the bed lights... this may seem minuscule, but I have two phones and one is always dead and I usually want to charge it close to the bed so I can flip through it before bed. Pool and hot tub are indoors, a bit small and was usually crowded. Gym was nice, several treadmills and cardio machines as well as free weights. Staff in the executive lounge were fantastic. First of all: this Marriott is certainly not in Georgetown -- it's in West End! That could be important for some folks, because it's at least .4 miles to cross the bridge to Georgetown shops and restaurants. That being said, I think the location is even better for tourists since you're near downtown -- Dupont, Farragut, the White House, etc. I stayed here a few weeks ago when my mother was in town for Thanksgiving and we had a wonderful experience. It's quite inexpensive for a Marriott, and certainly looks and feels like it has been updated within the last few years. The TV in the room was gigantic and set up for you to enjoy both live TV and Netflix (I used my personal login, but I imagine you can ask for a login if you want?), the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom had a nice rain shower head, rather than a tub (icky, who wants to take a bath in a hotel unless you really need to?). Our room included free breakfast downstairs for up to $30 a person, which was an INCREDIBLE deal. I thought it was going to be one of those buffett-style hotel meals, but instead we were able to order off the menu items that felt more akin to bougie DC brunch (acai bowl, crab hash, chicken and waffle, breakfast burrito, etc). It was difficult to reach the $30 maximum per person, even when getting Voss water, Illy coffee, an entree, and a side, so you definitely were not getting upsold. And to top it off, the meal was delicious! Certainly I'll recommend this hotel to friends and family who make it into town. For only $85/night during the holidays, it really only felt like $55 with our delicious breakfast and it was far superior to most other budget hotels. read more

Recently remodeled and very comfortable! The room was spiffy clean, everything worked perfectly. Housekeeping was on their A game. I only had one bite and a beverage at the lobby bar area, but it was excellent. Good selection of beer on tap, great bartenders and a nice bar menu that was tasty. For Gold and Platinum members, the Concierge Lounge is open 24 hours a day, which is very unusual, with a amazing coffee machine and snacks and drinks out 24 hours a day too. Everyone on the staff seemed genuinely caring and welcoming. I only peeked into the gym on this trip, but it looked adequate, not necessarily great. I'd stay here again! read more

I stayed here a few days ago overnight for a meeting in the area. When I arrived, check in was super fast and easy. I forgot to add my Marriott rewards number to my reservation, but the receptionist was very helpful in making sure the number was added to my room. She also came from around the desk to hand me my key, which to some people isn't a big deal, but it was a nice touch for me and made me feel welcome and at home. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and the bathrooms are beautiful as well. Everything was neat and tidy, except for one issue. One of the bath towels had a huge stain on it which wasn't too nice. The beds in the room were super comfortable, so much so that I didn't want to get out of be the next morning. But, I had to. Check out was super simple and they made the process seamless. I definitely enjoyed my stay here and would stay again if ever in the area. read more

Boys trip!!!!!!!!! Day:1 My friends and I came to Washington for the weekend. We arrived, and went to see the monuments. Washington monument was alright, elevator is closed till 2019, thanks spider-man. Oops, we went to the Smithsonian first, they have a cool lion there. Ok now, after Washington we went to the White House it was cool too. After, we walked back around to WWII memorial and visited my boy honest Abe, it was lit. At this point we were dead. Back to the hotel. Day 2: Back to honest Abe! Then we walked around to MLK memorial, and FDR he seemed chill. We saw a dead fish though, not cool. Giant snapping turtle in the lake was cool though. We hit my TJ's memorial after (TJ is Thomas Jefferson, great way to remember). We planned a little late so we only went to the holocaust museum after. However, we managed to go take bomb pics at Capitol Hill. Back to the hotel. Day 3: COLDPLAY CONCERT!!!!!!! Finally, the hotel was cool, good beds, and Maria is cool she's from Bolivia. Great location. The hotel is walking distance to the Dupont Circle and GWU blue line station. You can gay it up at Dupont, and then take the blue line to go to the airport after you are done. I stayed here 4 nights for a conference. The hotel is very business style, decent sized rooms with all the amenities. The bed was comfy and I slept like a baby. Two things that are important to me while staying at a hotel are the bed and bathroom. Well maintained hotel. There is not a great view of anything but, I was not here to admire any scenic views. The pool is clean and there is a jacuzzi to relax after a tiring day of discussing health care standards. Free bottled water and fruit in the gym area. They had a big container of chilled lemonade, cookies, and brownies in the lobby every evening. It was good to grab a cool glass of lemonade and a brownie after sweating in the 100 degree DC heat. I ordered room service one night. Got the Marriott burger. It was surprisingly good. I am impressed. Too bad they shut down room service at 11pm. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! My laptop was stolen out of my room from this hotel. After first lying about it, it was found that the only entrance made while I was out was by their very own master electronic key card. After filing a police report and spurring an investigation, the claims department denied my claim due to a statute in DC law that protects Innkeepers and hotels. (most all other states have the same statute.) Because there was no safe in the room it was my responsibility to check my laptop with the bellman to be stored in their baggage area. Like most, I did not do this and thus I am out my laptop, my roommate's laptop, and my back pack. All they have to say for themselves is ,"we are sorry for your loss." What a crock of %$@T. Karma will cast its revenge upon this institution and others like it that show no respect to their customers and hide behind laws that protect them legally, but not morally. I would not be surprised to find out that this is not the first time this has happened here. Choose the Ritz Carlton across the street, it may cost more, but at least you will get respect. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was courteous and incredibly friendly. After some initial confusion as to where my room was located (I stayed in the business wing), it became one of my most pleasant hotel stays to date. The room in the business wing was spacious--a king size bed, flat-screen tv, couch, and desk. The bathroom looked like it had just been redone, and everything felt incredibly clean. Sure, there was no tub, but I'm not one to take baths anyway. The bathroom, instead, featured one of those sleek modern looking standing showers, which was great. The hotel gym was actually pretty nice. The machines they had were modern enough to have tvs on each one, and there were enough of each machine that there was never any wait. It also featured a handful of weight machines and free weights, so one could easily do a full work out in there. The best part is, the hotel is walking distances to all the fun stuff in Dupont Circle. Everything's less than a mile away! I didn't have to take a taxi once. And, if you're feeling ambitious, it's running distance from the memorials. read more

This place reminded me of airlines nowadays - it's fine and all but any little amenity you come to expect from a midlevel hotel is gone. It's nothing crazy bothersome but their cost cutting moves cause inconveniences I wouldn't have expected from a Marriott. I stayed here 3 days for a conference. A word to the wise - if they give you a room in the "business wing" floor 2R or 3R ask to get it changed. The rooms are a lot smaller, no full length mirror (um those are kinda needed before big presentations!), no bathtub, and only one elevator accesses these floors. The cable tv includes a whopping 20ish channels with no mtv, bravo, etc. At any given time a good third of the channels weren't working. Wifi and any notepaper in meeting rooms are not included. It's a fine place to stay but if you're going to be actually spending a good amount of time in the hotel like for a conference - for the price you can get something much better. read more

The worst staff I have every had to deal with! I came to visit a friend staying at this hotel. I asked for him by name at the front desk. The agent first acted like I was not talking to him, then said there was no one with that name registered/reserved. I asked him to check again and he glanced down for half a second and said "nope, not here". I said "I'm sorry, let me call him and see if it is under another name" and started to make a call on my cell phone. After trying a few times I say that their was no coverage and I asked was their no cell coverage in their hotel? He said "not for your IPhone". What a snatch! I left to try calling from outside and it turned out my friend was staying there, the agent was just spelling the name wrong. You cannot use your cell phone here and the staff are snatches! read more

If we did have one negative thing to say, it is that the bathrooms are tiny (we are talking "cruise ship" tiny). But the rooms are very clean, so I can deal with a tiny bathroom. Overall the hotel is pretty nice. Original room appeared very neat and clean until I went to bed the first night. I woke up multiple times experiencing what ended up being bed bug bites. A total of 10 bites have been found thus far. I reported the incident to the hotel staff and was subsequently moved to a new room. I made an effort to thoroughly examine this mattress but the mental "damage" has been done so we'll see how the second night goes. The staff was very quick to follow up with me and has made contact a couple more times. Location wise it is pretty well located. Maybe I'm crazy but waling 9 blocks to some key features doesn't seem all that bad from here considering how flat the city is. read more

I booked through a third party site, which would result in a bunch of problems. More about that later. The hotel is close to Georgetown and the Metro. It's a short waking distance to the National Mall, and you will end up close to the Washington monument an all the other monuments at the east end of the Mall. The walk over to Georgetown is even shorter. The red line will take you to and from Union Station, or the Metro Center station if you need to change line. In other words I really love the hotel's location. My room was clean and decent sized. I had a room on the top floor, with an OK view. I guess my room faced a boring side of DC. They have small units of shampoo, soap bar, shower gel, conditioner and moisturiser - leaving new ones everyday if they have been removed from the display case. Yepp.. it look like store windows display units. The staff was very welcoming when I arrived. Although they couldn't find my reservation, due to the fact that I booked through a third party, they found me within five minutes. The problem was that they had concatenated my first and last name. I booked a five night stay, but on my - what I thought was my second to last night - they slipped my room folio under the door. And to my shock it said that I was checking out today! Luckily I was able to extend my stay - in the same room. Later that day I stumbled upon the maid, as she was cleaning my room. We started having some small talk, and she really showed appreciation for the tip she had received, and really went out of her way to make sure I was really satisfied with her service - I was. It was time to wake up and check out. A new folio was slipped under the door, and I just had to double check everything. And, what did I find out? They had overcharged me close to 400 dollars! The cost pr. night was over $30 higher than my booking confirmation stated, and they added taxes. Taxes was included in my confirmed booking price. Once again the receptionist was helpful and understanding. She lowered the rates and honored my original booking. Next time I will book straight trough Marriott, and keep away from those booking sites - at least when I stay with Marriott. Ohh... and be warned: Wifi is a whooping 13 dollars / 24h ... Unless you are a Marriott Rewards member. Members get free Wifi - if booked straight through an official channhel. read more

I was here for a business trip and was quite pleased with the service and overall comfort of this hotel. My taxi driver gave me a hard time when I told him I was headed to the Marriott Georgetown. He did not think it deserved that second part of its name, as it was not exactly close to Georgetown University. Near or not, I found this hotel to be in a great location--walking distance to Foggy Bottom subway stop and a lot of different shops and restaurants. This hotel is an ideal place for a conference or business meeting. There are plenty of "ballrooms" (Salon A, B, C, D etc.) where they can set up A/V and projector and seat at least 50 people if they take down the divider and combine two of the salons. Unfortunately, there are no windows in any of these conference rooms, which means at some point you will be dying to get out of the hotel and see a glimpse of the sky. Per day room charge for wifi. It works freely I believe in the lobby area, but don't count on it in the conference rooms. I find it interesting that they provide facial cleansing make-up/remover tissue in the bathroom. It came in handy, as I did not bring my own cleanser. Unfortunately, the one day I needed to remove makeup was the day they did not replenish the stock in my bathroom. I wrote a kind note to Housekeeping, and they re-stocked it the next day. All in all, I only have 2 quibbles with my stay here: -- Wifi is awful in the conference rooms, if it even exists (not for me) -- Housekeeping seems to take quite a bit of time to finish each floor, which is fine if you are gone for most of the day, but if you are mainly staying at the hotel (i.e. for business) and need to duck into your room to take calls, then it becomes a bit inconvenient. Twice I went up to my room to find them in the middle of cleaning. They are very understanding and will come back if you ask them to. Great service, overall. read more

I would give this hotel only one star if it weren't for the very dedicated and nice staff. My first room smelled terrible, and I mean terrible, but while I had over heard the front desk say the hotel was completely booked, the clerk immediately apologized and gave me keys to a new one. As I entered the next room I froze in my tracks realizing... it was already occupied... I knew they were booked but really... doubling up in a room with a stranger?!?! Horrified that such an error could occur I raced back down to the front desk to describe what I had seen. She was equally as horrified and quickly found me another room that she was certain this time lacked another occupant. To my relief she was right but the room was old, small and dirty in the way that old motels get after going years without a real renovation. Weary but happy to be settled I made my way to the bar. The bartender was great! Affable, nice and a great conversationalist I found myself relaxing as I ate my sandwich and enjoyed a draft dog head brew... that is until the cockroach raced across the bar in front of my seat. I grabbed a napkin, and showed the bartender. Again, like the front desk clerk he was mortified and discounted my meal but by this time, I was done. Truth be told, the hotel staff obviously has passion for guest services and training but the hotel, being a Marriott, was not up to par. I can honestly say, I won't be returning and being there are so many equally priced hotel options, probably not stay at another Marriott in the future. read more
