Go anywhere else. After waiting 6 months for my appointment, I showed up and no one was there. Like no one: no receptionist, no technician, zero people. A few other patients were in the waiting room just sitting there. I tried to call, but of course didn't get an answer. Finally someone called me to say they were closed and was happy to reschedule me for 6 months later. I told them that was outrageous and asked to speak with a manager. I was told she would be in at 9:00 (my appt was at 8:00). Then, to add insult to injury, I had to pay $9 for parking. Next: I called at 9:00 and, of course, the person who answered the phone had never heard of the supervisor whose name I was given. But she was very nice and offered me an appointment at 7:00 am on K Street for the next month. I took it. I then received about 15 text, email and call reminders. I am not kidding. When I arrived at K street today, they asked if I had the referral. I told them that my doctor sent it over in January (!), but they had no record of it. They were going to make me wait until 8:00 when my doctors office opened (remember: I got here for a 7:00 am appointment), but fortunately I was able to find a summary of notes from my January appointment and they accepted that. Based on the receptionist, I will probably visit another radiology center the next time I'm in need. I put off having a basic mammogram screening for years and chose this radiology center because it clearly states on their website that you do not need a doctor's referral for a standard screening. When I got there, however, the receptionist told me I needed one. When I told her the website says a referral isn't necessary, she said they would see me without one, but she then insisted I contact my doctor to have them send the referral. It was extremely confusing and she kept contradicting herself, all the while insisting I call my doctor. She conflated her preference with what the actual policy is, which was extremely confusing and felt unwelcoming, like she was looking for a reason to turn me away. The technician was fantastic and the screening was quick and easy. read more

First of all I've had my appointments with Arlington, VA location for over 10 years and each time the receptionist is very brusque and not customer friendly. Today she was very short with me since I didn't have my physician order but in the past, for a general breast exam, it was not required. She certainly made it an issue this time. I offered to leave and reschedule but she said it wasn't necessary. If it wasn't necessary, then why make it an issue. Every year I fill out the same paperwork and twice it asked for my date of birth. I thought that was odd and I filled it out anyways. Next I changed into the gown, and then the receptionist required another one page form to be filled out. Why didn't she give me this form in the waiting room. The receptionist insisted that I fill it out after I changed into the gown. Weird. The technician called me into the exam room and the first thing she asked me was my name and date of birth. I gave it to her and then said that's strange to ask since I just filled it into the form. Wow, she lashed out at me saying she didn't like my attitude and did I speak to other doctors and nurses this way. Actually my dentist and general practitioner know me by my first name and it's a pleasure to be there not like this unpleasant experience. I felt extremely vulnerable thinking she would be the last person I would want to examine my breasts. I said I really don't like how she spoke to me and I'm going to leave. She said basically she would like me to leave and escorted me to the waiting room and announced in a loud voice to cancel my appointment because I was leaving. I can't believe how I was treated and I will never go to another Washington Radiology for a mammogram. They need an attitude check! read more

The receptionist is the rudest individual I have ever encountered ANYWHERE She started ranting and raving and stormed out of the office, refusing to sign me in, falsely accusing me of raising my voice and telling me she did not like my attitude. I went to this site because I could not get my mammogram and Dexa scan back to back. The scheduler for this appt was very nice and pleasant in getting this appt set up in Arlington. Although very clean, the waiting room is small. The receptionist was not warm and fuzzy - just doing her job I guess. The changing room was very pleasant and clean. The technician was pleasant but did not make small talk. I had to ask for the lead apron to be places around my waist. When I asked for one she stated it was optional.I was not offered one when I came in. I did not feel like my visit was welcoming as a patient going through my exams. It is my preference not to return to this site. I have been going to the WRA office on Williams Drive for years so traveling to Arlington was a hassle. Plus you have to pay for parking! When I asked the receptionist on the way out whether they validated parking, the answer was NO. These days medical offices have gotten quite impersonal. read more

Needed a bone density scan and this came up closest and had high ratings. Very nice and efficient on the phone. It starts with a recording with only two options- thank God. Girl took all my info over the phone since I was a new patient. I got my first choice for an appointment approximately a week in advance. The place is clean and nearly empty. No wait. The service friendly and professional. Not sure about parking- I can walk here. I am going to do all radiology needs here in the future. read more

When I made my appointment three months ago I was told to arrive 15 minutes early. I arrived 20 minutes early at 12:25 today to find the office door locked, the lights out, and a sign indicating someone would be back at 12:45. I stood in the hall for 15 minutes before another gentleman appeared, having been told he could walk into the Ballston office anytime. We waited another 5 minutes before a brusque woman unlocked the door, making no apology. Then after five more minutes sitting around, the brusque woman informed me that they don't take my insurance. How did this happen? When making any medical appointment the first thing one is asked is for insurance information. I waited three months for an appointment where the only thing accomplished was paying $9 in parking. I will never again attempt to use Washington Radiology for anything. read more

WARNING: THEY NO LONGER VALIDATE FOR PARKING! I wish I had known this prior to making the appointment. $9 for less than an hour. To make matters worse, my technician was so rough!! I do think it was her, it's not a representation of all staff/technicians. Last year, my tech was lovely! I agree with the other reviews about the woman at the front desk. She is abrasive and rude. She gets upset when she sees patients. If she does not want to work, patients should not be exposed to her bad disposition. I will not return to this office again and take my business elsewhere. I was seriously nervous about my very first mammogram. The front office experience is extremely perfunctory. When you are invited back to the area where you strip down from the waist up, it starts to feel really real. It's very spa-like. Complete with lockers named for amazing and strong women in history, and lovely changing rooms that are large and comfortable with wipes, deodorant for after, and so super easy and welcoming. The procedure itself is very quick and the tech was specific with direction. How to situate yourself, when to breath deeply and hold it for the scan, and how to cover yourself properly. I literally cried after in relief. It wasn't painful at all, but a little more like moderately uncomfortable. They have a curved machine that embraces your breast (still squeezing, but not like a vice grip), which helps with comfort a great deal. I'm recommending this radiology clinic because I am so happy it wasn't the nightmare I expected. Just get it done! You have nothing to lose... read more

This week I had my first experience with Washington Radiology (Arlington/Ballston office). I was referred to them by my new primary care physician because I haven't had either test for over a decade, mainly because of the negative experiences I'd had in the past. I am SO GLAD I went: 1. I made the appointment in person. The receptionist was very kind and gave me the forms I'd need for new patient check-in so that I could complete them at home, allowing me to check in easily on the day of the appointment. 2. I was able to get an appointment for the next week! 3. The location is easy to get to and they discount-validate parking if you use the underground garage. 4. The changing room is spa-quality. Private changing rooms are clean, roomy, properly shielded with a curtain that actually covers the door(!) and has the small amenities that you may need when you dress to leave; there are full-height lockers to protect your personal items (you carry the key with you on a bracelet), and the necessary gowns actually cover you up! 5. The mammogram machine must be state-of-the-art. The older models used on me at other locations years ago were so painful, and I was sometimes bruised by them. This newer machine is totally different, and I couldn't believe how much better it was. The technician was knowledgeable and gave clear and patient instructions (how to stand, when to hold your breath) as we stepped through the process, which was minimally uncomfortable -- not painful!! 6. The DXA (bone density) exam is easy and the machine sounds a bit like R2D2 chatting you up. Same technician, same gentle and clear manner. It is a relief to have had the exams and to know that if there are any problems that require follow-on exams, I will have a place to return to where I feel comfortable and trust the people. read more

I've been to the location in DC for other testing and this location is much more convenient for me. I needed a bone density test and was able to make an appointment for just a few days after calling. The lobby was very cute and nicely decorated. The whole office seemed very clean and new (I think the front desk lady said they had only been there a year). I didn't have to wait long and was lead back to the changing room. There were lockers with famous female figures names like Jane Austen, Rosa Parks, and Wonder Woman, to safely keep your belongings in! There is a parking garage for the building and the office validated parking so I didn't have to pay anything. Good office, should I need any more testing I will return. read more

I was referred to Washington Radiology for a mammogram. The Ballston office is very convenient -- a short walk from Ballston metro station. The office design/colors are very nice and calming. They were very friendly and efficient. I liked the fun touch of names of women role models on the lockers -- Harriet Tubman, Sally Ride, Jane Austen. I took Harriet Tubman; another woman lamented that "Wonder Woman" was already taken.:) read more
