Another great experience at Washington Radiology! They should pay me to be on their commercials! :) It was very easy to make an appointment for an MRI. They got me in very quickly. Waiting time in the main waiting room was minimal, less than 10 minutes. When I asked for the key to the bathroom they made sure it was wiped off with Lysol (details matter). Claudia escorted me from the waiting area. She introduced herself and showed me where to change. Alfred was my MRI technician. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating (I ask for a lot of things). He did everything with a smile and a heart of kindness. I love it when I encounter caring people in my healthCARE experiences. Thanks again to all the staff from Washington Radiology for another great experience! I will see you when it's boob smooshing time! :)

A little bit of a hypochondriac, going to Washington Radiology felt like a death warrant. My doctor recommended I go for an ultrasound to check out a lump on my liver. He thought it was nothing of concern, but wanted to triple check. From scheduling to check in, my experience here was excellent. After receiving the order from my doctor, they reached out to schedule an appointment. There were many slots available. Upon check-in 15 minutes before my appointment, I was greeted upon entry and given two papers to fill out. Within minutes, I was getting an ultrasound. The staff and doctor were efficient and friendly. Turns out the lump is a lipoma and nothing of concern. If you drive, it is downtown along K Street NW so go early to leave time to find paid street parking or park in a garage for lots of money.

I have had significant issues with charges being more than quoted over the phone, incomplete communication about authorization, deductibles, and other things. However, generally speaking, they have gotten the job done. I don't like that parking needs validation and they only validate up to 1.5 hours - and some mammograms take longer with ultrasound and additional imaging. They also can be a bit short over the phone, and fail to provide context that other radiology facilities might be more inclined to include. However, I do appreciate that this location has a broad range of services available and is prompt with answering calls and attempting to answer questions. Never my first choice as there are some amazing radiologist in the area, but a lot of them have inconvenient appointment times and can take months to schedule. I wouldn't suggest parking on the street, as the police ticket cars immediately when the meter expires. The parking garage is also an issue when going for a first mammogram as they tend to take longer. For subsequent visits, they are good about getting patients out very quickly while still doing what needs to be done. Though, you may feel rushed, I do like it better this way than worrying about having to pay for going over time in the parking garage. One thing I don't like about them is that they had been charging $20 for a CD to bring back to your provider. The other radiologists that I've been to have never charged me for a CD, so I was very disappointed as my provider was shocked that the CD costs exta and she prefers the CDs to go over the findings with patients in an extended consultation with lots of visuals - she apparently needs to CD to do this effectively, so I was not able to receive the same level of detail about my treatment plan that I previously received, due to having my imaging done at Tower Radiology. I hope that they reconsider this charge. Anyway, I think it is better to know what to expect going into it. I added an extra star for convenience.

I have always had great experiences with the technicians and front office staff for my mammograms. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that sometimes finding availability in their schedule can be an issue. Sometimes, I have had to schedule weeks out and their office hours are not conducive for folks who work 9-5. However, if you have flexibility during the weekdays I highly recommend them!

It was a little wait past my appointment time to get into my procedure, but once I was called back…read morethe CT tech was friendly, very good at putting in an IV, and my study was finished quickly. Much better experience than I anticipated.

I needed to have a biopsy of my thyroid. My insurance said it would be covered at Georgetown. I…read morescheduled it and then they cancelled and said it was not covered. This is before I called pretty much every MedStar radiology location to schedule this procedure. Kevin, the deputy director at Lafayette, told me that my insurance would fully cover it (of course without a copay) and I had the biopsy done. It was incredibly painful. I sat and cried afterwards. The needle was inserted 5 or 6 times. After being told by Kevin that it was covered I received a bill in the several hundreds of dollars, with a small amount covered by my insurance. The results revealed that not enough of a sample was taken but that insufficient sample was "evaluated" anyway at Georgetown (the place that said my insurance didn't cover it). I called Kevin and he said he would work with billing to take care of the bill, esp since I have no results. I asked what other options are other than having to get this done again. He said the person who performed the procedure is no longer in the office and he would try to reach her. I said can't someone else in Medstar's radiology system look at the results and tell me something. Apparently not. An endocrinologist could look at my history and the current scans and advise me but this will take several months to get in with Medstar's endocrinologists. I've been speaking with Kevin since January of this year. I've been paying part of the bill to avoid collections. I am unemployed but don't want this bill to screw up my credit so I'm paying. After Kevin once again told me it was taken care of about a month I received a bill that said final notice. So I will pay off the bill. I have no idea if I have cancerous thyroid nodules. I am paying for a bill that I was told by the deputy director would be covered. I made an appointment with an endocrinologist outside of Medstar to advise me. I wish I had stuck with my gut feeling and kept an appointment with another provider to discuss and have the biopsy. But when Kevin scheduled it and said it was taken care of... Later I found out from someone in Medstar that frustrations with Medstar's radiology department is typical. Wish I had known that sooner. I would have gone elsewhere. I suggest you do the same.

I admit, I was very skeptical, but the practice is so efficient and friendly, I'm recommending them to the Yelp DC community! And I"m very fussy about health care (I'm from Boston, what can I say--it's the best city in the US for health care!) The one item I was hesitant about--it's a common problem in the DC metro area--is you won't get an MD, you'll be seen by a Physician's Assistant. But--I lost my primary care MD 5 years ago, so started calling practices, GW MFA, etc., a year ago to find a new MD. Forget about it. I started calling again recently, hoping there were doctors available. Nope. There is NOTHING out there--I had estimates of waiting times of several MONTHS for an appointment with an MD. No one offered an appointment with an NP or a PA. A few places wouldn't even put me on for a wait list appointment! It's dire. I had no choice but to sign up at One Medical, which btw was recommended by two friends with high standards for doctors. There is another potential issue, that it's only general practice, no specialists. But they do a lot of the requisite tests, blood tests, etc. I already have my specialists, so it's not a problem for me. And my PA is excellent. She is pretty young, but very well trained, very smart, and responsive. And you can tell she likes her job! More good things about Farragut Square OneMed. I"ve been several times since joining a few months ago, and I've NEVER had a wait. The front desk folks, the techs, the medical professionals? All excellent, very personable, and polite. What a change from some other DC medical practices! They take insurance--and if you're not insured, they will figure it out. Also, they are so tech forward, everything is very easy to accomplish, and not stressful. No waiting on hold! Again, what a change. Anyway, if you need a primary care MD, and can't find anyone, give one of these practices a try. If you don't like them, you can leave.

I think One Medical has been a victim of their own success -- there are too many patients and you…read morecan never get an appointment now. The whole point of paying for it is supposedly so you can get prompt responses and next day treatment. At first, I could always get appointments same day or the very least the next day. Now to book a physical with my doctor, I needed to book 5 weeks out. To get an appointment for an illness, the next available on the app is over a week from now. A more traditional doctor, I could call and ask to be seen same day. But no one answers messages on the app anymore. I'm trying to switch practices but no one will answer me through the app how to cancel my membership. If you are looking for premium care and service, this is definitely not it anymore. PS: do yourself a favor and sort the comments by "newest first" -- you can pinpoint exactly when things went downhill. All the positive reviews are over a year old.
