I had a great first experience at Solis Mammography today. The location is easy to find on the first floor of their building on 19th Street. The waiting room was a bit confusing--there was a clipboard on the end table but it had the wrong date--after waiting to speak with reception they indicated to still sign in on that sheet. Things only went up from there. The front desk staff were nice and helpful. I did wish that they had sent the forms/link for preregistration ahead of time, but minor issue. They prefilled my info on the iPad and forms so I mostly just had to sign and update family history. Once everything is completed and any co-pays paid, they take you back to the room to get changed. You get to keep everything on except your top half. Yay for no freezing full gown. The changing area is cute (considering) and they have lockers for your personal items. Everything was clean and organized. I had a nice chat with another patient as we were waiting to be called to the radiology room. I got an absolutely wonderful tech who was upbeat, thorough, kind and funny. Zina (hope I got that right) really made the experience great. She explained everything, gave clear instructions, and chatted away so I was completely comfortable. While I likely just had the normal scans, it was not really painful. Will update this review if there are issues with getting the results or billing as others have mentioned, but would recommend right now! read more

I am currently six months pregnant and was referred to Washington Radiology for a breast ultrasound after finding a lump. From the start, the experience was frustrating and upsetting. When I arrived, the front desk told me they didn't have an order from my doctor. They claimed they had called and left a voicemail the previous Friday, but I never received any voicemail. One member of the front desk staff was quite rude, which only added to the stress of the situation. After the order was eventually received, my interaction with the ultrasound technician was also concerning. She asked if I wanted a mammogram without clearly explaining why it was being recommended or what would be the benefit for the mammogram and ultrasound When I asked for clarification, she abruptly left the room. When she returned, she proceeded with the mammogram without properly explaining the process or asking for my consent. She handled me roughly and without warning, which was especially distressing given the sensitivity associated with pregnancy. Finally, when I met with the doctor, I felt dismissed. She rolled her eyes when I asked questions or expressed concerns, which made me feel unheard and uncomfortable. This type of appointment is already very vulnerable and stressful--especially during pregnancy. Patients deserve to be treated with professionalism, clear communication, kindness, and empathy. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I left the place in tears. read more

The care and service was professional and as expected. Front desk employees were fine. However, the billing department of Washington Radiology is deplorable. Rude, rude, rude. I was overcharged for a service in early March. My EOB did not match the charge, so I was being denied by my HRA. Call after call was met with chaos. I was told to call back 3 or 4 times because my bill hadn't been processed or they couldn't find my information or they were in the middle of an update and couldn't help. When I got a bill, it was for $600 less than what I was charged and every time I asked for an explanation, the person on the other end just kept rereading the same talking point over and over. I paid over $1K at the time of service, was sent a bill for $466 and when I called, I was told I had a $0 balance. Will I get the $600 overpayment back - no. Why, no idea. Asked for a manager. None were available. I will never get service here again. The billing department employees are terrible at their job and the one who finally found my record kept interrupting me and reading the same lines from her script over and over. read more

I called, and was told there "had been a glitch" that caused a nine day delay in review. While at their location, their unfriendly front desk staff disrespectfully discussed a woman who had been confused about parking after she'd gone back. Calling the person with whom I originally scheduled the appointment "apathetic" is an act of generosity on my part. I used to depend on Washington Radiology. That's over. read more

Another great experience at Washington Radiology! They should pay me to be on their commercials! :) It was very easy to make an appointment for an MRI. They got me in very quickly. Waiting time in the main waiting room was minimal, less than 10 minutes. When I asked for the key to the bathroom they made sure it was wiped off with Lysol (details matter). Claudia escorted me from the waiting area. She introduced herself and showed me where to change. Alfred was my MRI technician. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating (I ask for a lot of things). He did everything with a smile and a heart of kindness. I love it when I encounter caring people in my healthCARE experiences. Thanks again to all the staff from Washington Radiology for another great experience! TLDR: predatory billing, wildly bureaucratic scheduling system, chaotic administration, apathetic care. The worst medical experience, top to bottom, I have ever experienced. Literally made a Yelp account to share this experience as a warning () Predatory billing: Prior to scheduling, the front desk explicitly told me they accepted my insurance and the medical team provided me with the codes they use to bill the procedure I planned to receive. I confirmed with my insurance that the practice and codes were fully covered. Only until after the procedure happened did they tell me they planned to bill differently, which was not covered by my insurance, leaving me with an out of pocket cost of thousands of dollars. When I attempted to clarify this with billing there is no way to contact anyone who codes bills, just loosely related customer service representative ? Scheduling: It took me over three months of calling on a weekly (or more!) basis to obtain an appointment with a physician even after an initial appointment. To be clear, the admin team themselves are not the problem, but the contact system is wildly bureaucratic. Admin: again, the team is fine, but the system is chaotic. Both times I went to this practice, despite my doctor faxing the proper orders over weeks in advance, they were somehow lost in the system or incorrect and I had to frantically contact my doctor at the appointment to resend. I was seen over hour after my appointment time and nearly an hour the second time. There are limited ways to confirm if the order is correct ahead of time because as mentioned the phone system is so bureaucratic that contacting a real person in the office feels impossible. To say the onus in on the patient every step of the way is an understatement. I have never experienced a medical practice so mismanaged. read more

Rude staff, when I showed up, they made no mention that their parking lot opens an hour after their first appointment time at 6am. After taking my $900 they then said I'm just going to have to get my car towed and they wouldn't allow me to move it to the lot behind their office! I complained about this and said it was unacceptable that they too a grand from me and couldn't give me 5mins after they failed to warn me of the parking situation even though I asked. They rushed me thru to the table acted impatient during the scan as well. I had to get a repeat scan done and scheduling is just such a hassle, they don't answer the phone, it's like playing phone tag, call and leave a voice message and they call you and leave a voice message back. When I finally got a live person, she was in training and was so SLOW! It took her 10 full mins to get my address down and what type of scan I needed, I offered ti email her the order and she said she would wait to get it and call me back again to schedule! At this point we're at like 4 phone calls to schedule 1 appointment. If you like dealing with entitled attitudes, ineptitude, and feeling frustrated and taken advantage of while trying to find out if you have cancer or not, this is the place to go. If you just want to get your scan done and read without hassle , I suggest literally anywhere else... Also their 3T MRI machine is old with yellowing paint and is all scratched and chipped in the surface... just like the rest of the place. read more

Steer clear of Solis Mammography. Went 1 month ago and yet to receive my results. Experience for actual mammography was fine, but if you are interested in finding out what the mammography showed? A little bit of a hypochondriac, going to Washington Radiology felt like a death warrant. My doctor recommended I go for an ultrasound to check out a lump on my liver. He thought it was nothing of concern, but wanted to triple check. From scheduling to check in, my experience here was excellent. After receiving the order from my doctor, they reached out to schedule an appointment. There were many slots available. Upon check-in 15 minutes before my appointment, I was greeted upon entry and given two papers to fill out. Within minutes, I was getting an ultrasound. The staff and doctor were efficient and friendly. Turns out the lump is a lipoma and nothing of concern. If you drive, it is downtown along K Street NW so go early to leave time to find paid street parking or park in a garage for lots of money. read more

This review is not about the facility, lab staff, or it's equipment, it's about how it is almost impossible to get through to the 19th St location by telephone! I've tried multiple times, on multiple days, to reach the DC location by phone (202-223-9722), but no one ever answers. I follow the prompts and select the correct options to make an appointment, the system says you're being transferred to an attendant -- and then the call disconnects. When I tried the Chevy Chase location prompt, someone immediately answered, so appears that the issue is DC specific. read more

I went into this process rather positive. Visit 1: Back and forth about appointment, insurance and fees. My heart rate was normal but too high for the machine. Needed beta blockers. No one told me this in advance. Rescheduled. Wrote physician for beta blocker prescription. Visit 2: that failure was my fault. Rescheduled. Visit 3: Arrived at the office to find that the practice had moved (no one told me previously) but I found the new location and arrived on time. They informed me that the machine "had just gone down." Rescheduled. Visit 4: Called prior to visit 4 to say that they were cancelling my appointment because the machine was still down and could I come to the Chevy Chase Office. Discussion about the distance from the CC metro and walk-ability, which should have been readily available. Complained to my doctor and requested a referral to an outpatient facility in Arlington. While that appointment was not seamless, I was able to get and hold an appointment and they had no food restrictions. Actual time in the machine was 5 minutes. They forwarded the results to my doctor the next day. At times I felt like I was in that Seinfeld episode in which he chews out the car rental company about being able to take a reservation but not able to keep a reservation. This practice is very quick to tell you that the procedure is not covered by insurance. I called my insurance company to verify coverage, which confirmed that this practice was in-network and the the maximum copay allowed was $100. Clearly something is afoot at this practice. read more

YOU MAY DIE IF YOU CHOOSE THESE PEOPLE. Show up with an order? Oh, for some reason you can't get your mammogram that day because they don't have enough technicians (cheapskates! put more on the schedule) or don't have enough machines (either way, why aren't you calling your appointments of the day to prevent them from coming in? Because you don't care in the slightest). Show up a month later again for the reschedule? they can't find your order. Imagine missing not one but TWO mammograms. Missing screenings like this can make you die. If screenings save lives, then missing them takes lives. You can't have it both way. You may die if you choose these people because they are so incompetent that you might not get your scan in time. UPDATE: Wife went a 3 time. This time she called in advance to make sure they had the order. She went in physically a 3 time. They refused to serve her. These rude as***les can't even bother to care about their patients enough to bother to tell them coming in. We lost over $300 worth of clocked wage time coming in to appointments where they had no intention of ever serving us. If you value the money you work for, you won't bother taking time off from work to see these people. EVER. read more

Two days later missed a call back to schedule said MRI, so I returned the call three times over different days and no one answered. Finally got through and was told that my referral (which I'd sent in the week before) was not on file. Resubmitted it and am hoping for some resolution. That was after a very very long phone tree and being asked if I would take a survey, which would "come automatically" after the call. Instead, the call just eventually hung up while I waited. Go anywhere else. After waiting 6 months for my appointment, I showed up and no one was there. Like no one: no receptionist, no technician, zero people. A few other patients were in the waiting room just sitting there. I tried to call, but of course didn't get an answer. Finally someone called me to say they were closed and was happy to reschedule me for 6 months later. I told them that was outrageous and asked to speak with a manager. I was told she would be in at 9:00 (my appt was at 8:00). Then, to add insult to injury, I had to pay $9 for parking. Next: I called at 9:00 and, of course, the person who answered the phone had never heard of the supervisor whose name I was given. But she was very nice and offered me an appointment at 7:00 am on K Street for the next month. I took it. I then received about 15 text, email and call reminders. I am not kidding. When I arrived at K street today, they asked if I had the referral. I told them that my doctor sent it over in January (!), but they had no record of it. They were going to make me wait until 8:00 when my doctors office opened (remember: I got here for a 7:00 am appointment), but fortunately I was able to find a summary of notes from my January appointment and they accepted that. Today is June 24, 2025. My primary physician wrote a referral for a testicular ultrasound on June 18, 2025. I have called every business day since then, staying on hold for 30-50 minutes, as long as I can while at work, and STILL no appointment. It's getting to be like a Seinfeld episode with Washington Radiology. You can make an appointment but there's no guarantee that it won't be cancelled at very short notice. At this point, I've been trying to schedule my annual bone density scan since last July. At first, they weren't making any appointments due to lack of staff to perform the scans. Then, they scheduled me an appointment six months out at the farthest possible location from where I live. That appointment is supposed to be next week. They just called me today to cancel that appointment, due to lack of staff (again!). Now, I'm rescheduled for May, with no guarantees that they'll have staff then. The fact that this place can't recruit and retain the staff they need tells you all you need to know about the quality of service you're going to experience. Finally, with regard to mammograms, the technicians always act like it's an enormous imposition when you request a plus size gown and insist that it's perfectly fine for you to walk through the halls in a teeny gown that doesn't cover anything. read more

I am now updating my review, and while the phone service was horrific, the humans involved changed my review to two thumbs up! It took actual human beings to change my awful review to a good one! Took weeks to schedule my mammogram. They canceled my 1st appointment on Friday afternoon for the Monday morning appointment. They then canceled my 2nd appointment as I was standing in the lobby of the office for the appointment. They said they could reschedule it in The DC office (I was standing in the Fairfax Office ) for the same day at 10:15. It was 10. How was I supposed to make it to DC in 15 minutes? Let me start out by saying that no one is ever jazzed about going to an imaging appointment at an imaging center. It's not sexy, but usually something that you have been ordered to do or part of routine healthcare. I am no exception. I scheduled an appointment at Washington Radiology in K St NW for 5:30 PM in a Friday evening. I was there for an MRI and was welcomed with a warm greeting when I walked in. Nikki thought I was another patient and did a double take when I shared my last name. She didn't see me in her schedule, but she told me to hold on just a moment. She checked her system and found and confirmed my full name. She saw that I had an appointment, but it has been cancelled. I immediately put my hands in my head as I realized what I had done. I had cancelled the wrong appointment. Nikki could see that I had a lot going on and was compassionate. She told me to wait a moment and she would speak to the technician to see if there was a way that I could be seen. No guarantee, but she made the ask and the tech, Claudia agreed to perform my MRI. I was beyond grateful. Anyone who has scheduled medical appointments knows how complicated it can be and I had scheduled more than one because I was trying to be seen ASAP. The intake was quick and Claudia was equally as welcoming. She could have been tense with me, but she was patient and treated me with the utmost respect through the whole process. This whole experience could have gone a different way, but these professionals went above and beyond and showed the human side of health care. I am thankful that this happened and I was shown so much kindness and given grace on. Friday evening. This is where you want to be when you have imaging needs. I have been going to WR for years. In the last two years - something has changed and the patient service has deteriorated. Not with the techs. But the scheduling and checking-in. One used to be able to call a central scheduling office and they could schedule you at any location based on what you needed and availability. Now you have to call each location separately. The Fairfax location only takes VM. If they call you back three days later and you miss the call - you start over. The two week back and further caused me to miss being able to schedule prior to year end when I called in early November. Please go back to central scheduling. And whatever you are doing to make your schedulers/office staff so miserable - you might want to address that as well. Again - the techs have all been great. read more

Had a DEXA scan done at the Park Potomac location in June and still have not received results despite contacting several times. And of course, they billed and got paid by my insurance company. Do NOT go here! I went in for an MRI in the very beginning of September and they didn't submit my claim to my insurance until NOVEMBER only after I called them every single week! I overpaid by a few hundred dollars since they made me pay before submitting a claim to my insurance (my insurance ended up covering most of the cost) but Washington Radiology refused to refund me it for WEEKS. Even in January (3 months after my appointment) I'm still waiting for my refund. read more

Had a service April 2025. The medical care we received was good which is the only reason I have two stars, but the billing department has been an abject nightmare. I was told I had to pay upfront on the day of service, so I did. I was told that was the total I would have to pay, so I considered the cost covered. But I hadnt received anything applied to my deductible by July, so I started calling Optum and was told there was no account set up under the patient name. It took me 5 calls just to get the medical office and the billing office agreeing a service was even done on the patient and that she existed and had been in their office. I have a list of phone calls and emails showing the many hours I have had to spend trying to 1) get a billing account set up 4 months after the medical service so costs could be applied to my deductible 2) asking why I was receiving more bills when I was told the amount I had to pay the day of the service would be my total bill. I have now been told three times that my bills are paid, but then I get another in the mail. I will never, ever use this company again. Terrible, just terrible and inept at billing and communicating accurate information. read more
