This is one of the best places to eat in Harrison County from my experience. I have eaten the…read morerib-eye and the filet. It came with spaghetti which I don't care for pasta but my husband ate it and said it was delicious, the sauce particularly perfect. We had baked potatoes which were done exact and the house dressing was also excellent for the salads. The meat was cooked well, not overdone or under. The staff was attentive but busy so they did not overly linger which is as bad as not coming back at all. Coffee and tea are made well. Atmosphere is nice and only issue is the place is kind of hidden. I think they would get more business if they were "out there" however, they have been here for years and by the looks of thing pretty dog gone busy!!! There is plenty of room for parking. Everything is ground level. I think there is plenty of room to accommodate a wheelchair or other handicapped accessible items. Have eaten here about seven times and every time has been consistently great in all areas.

Tried for the first time recently, I think it is a solid 4 star steakhouse for the area. While the…read morerestaurant has the appearance and menu of a fine dining restaurant, the atmosphere is more similar to an Applebees. You would expect a reasonable dress code for a place like less, but many folks were in gym shorts and ball caps. That's not really a knock on the restaurant just throwing that out there for expectations. Our service was average. Not exceptionally friendly or informative, but at least efficient. Timing of food was reasonable for 4 courses, we were there for about 2 hours. In regard to the food, most things we had were pretty good. Calamari and crab cake both decent. The lobster bisque was exceptionally good, I would definitely recommend that assuming it is consistently good. Tenderloin steaks were great. Cooked right, no complaints. The sides were not very good. Brussels sprouts seemed to be steamed and very underdone. Scalloped potatoes seemed to be plain potatoes with melted cheddar cheese on top, left something to be desired for. Overall it's a decent spot. Good place to get a steak, menu may be a little hit or miss for other things.

I love the family feel to all of it! Nice young people serving and keeping up with the pace. Coke products on the fountain! Sweet and unsweetened tea available. I saw some milkshakes coming out of the back that looked real good! Soup of the day was French onion ! Looks like a family place . I can't wait to taste the liver and onions. I know, it's an acquired taste. We are having wings and a soup too. They have a great variety of offerings and they have FB specials to look into and special's at the door. Wings were an 8! Soup looked like it would stick to your ribs. Dad left nothing! Liver and Onions was sooooo good! We had a great server named Tim! He was awesome! We ended with a nice chocolate shake which was delish! Sunday traffic here is steady, but moves well. They are closed on Mondays.

Unfortunately, the hot dogs arrived first. The hot dogs were really good with mustard, chili and onions. The chili is tasty and it's the perfect consistency for a hot dog. I really enjoyed them. Unfortunately, my waitress didn't show up for over 20 minutes. I was out of soda and I really wanted my salad. I finally asked if my salad was coming, and she said, "You didn't get it?"...Uh, no, that's why I'm asking you about it. My antipasto salad finally arrived and it was delicious. I would definitely order it again. The food here is good and it is reasonably priced. The service was not good on this particular Saturday afternoon.

While passing through town, I got off the highway to eat at a local diner. Said diner was closed on…read moreMondays, and someone recommended I come here. The ambiance is extremely casual, with an unusual menu mixing the most casual items (potato skins, mozz sticks, grilled cheese) and upscale items such as filet mignon and lobster tail. I ordered the manicotti and meatball with a side salad and bread... probably the most fancy thing I've ordered on the road to date! The bread was very very soft and served with a good whipped butter. I liked it more than expected actually. The salad was pretty lack luster (chopped iceberg and tomatoes... and I don't like tomatoes ... which only left me with lettuce). The house dressing is what made the salad good and I would totally recommend it. It's an oil with seasoning. Still, I think the salad could be jazzed up a bit. The manicotti dish was not bad but if I were a local, I would order something else next time. The manicotti seemed like it was frozen instead of made in house. If it is made in-house, the filling needs more flavor. The meatball itself was not bad and did not seem frozen. If you're a texture person, it has a soft bite to it and has a good size. I could not finish more than 1/2 the meal. The sauce was excellent and had a great consistency. Service was friendly and I was served quickly. I don't regret my detour here and I enjoy supporting local businesses while on the road!

**Restaurant Review: El Rey, Bridgeport, WV**…read more El Rey in Bridgeport, WV, is the kind of place that sneaks up on you. Tucked away in a strip mall, it doesn't scream for attention, but once you step inside, the buzz of conversation and the scent of something sizzling on the grill hits you like a freight train. It's clear you're about to experience something real. I ordered the "Fajita Canada," and damn, what a plate. It arrives at your table like a scene from a movie--seafood and vegetables still crackling on the hot skillet, steam rising, the promise of a meal that's about to wreck your sense of what dinner should be. The seafood was fresh, plucked from wherever it could be found, and the vegetables had that crispness you only get from knowing your way around a flame. The flavors are bold, unapologetic, and honest--exactly what you want from a place like this. It's not about presentation or pretense; it's about the food and the people who make it. The service is no-nonsense, and the space feels like a refuge from the bland sameness you find in so many places these days. If you're in Bridgeport and looking for something that's more than just a meal, head to El Rey. Order the Fajita Canada. Let it take you somewhere far from the ordinary.
