After almost 14 years with this practice, I'm finally making the long overdue change to another dental practice. The place is clean and professional. They take good care of you but the appointments are so hard to get and they work only 4 days a week. Usually, they'd schedule the next two appointments in advance and for any reason if you have to reschedule, it is impossible to get in. They are minimally staffed and their hygienists run the show. The doctor is mostly not there or if he is, he doesn't come in to check on you, They have managed so far because of established patients who are maybe reluctant to change and that's why I stayed with them so long. read more

Outstanding in care, quality and experience. I was going to dr. Tancio recommended by my roommate. He told me back in May that my childhood filling broke off and needed replacing. I went home and thought about how he replaced all my childhood filings a few years ago bc they had mercury. I called leaving a voicemail inquiring. They left a voicemail not answering that question. Question was never answered... Anyway, I had been eating more fruit so I went back asking about the sensitivity I'd been experiencing wondering about that filling he purposed I needed. Not only did he say that filling needing replacing but that I needed another filling AND a crown! He kept banging on my molar w a metal instrument which I thought was kind of rough as if he were trying to break the tooth. I responded w " No, I don't need a crown".. we went into a polite debate. I had more fruit after he sent me home saying he couldn't do it that day and the tooth seemed to bother by that Monday. Tancio wasn't available to address the tooth for another 3 weeks or so. I reached out to Dr. Randall Hashimoto's office who had a last min cancellation and were able to get me in the Tuesday. Thank God bc their wait-list goes into March of next year. So I go in and Dr. Hashimoto takes an x-ray to confirm no fillings or crown are needed. It was just tooth sensitivity I was experiencing from certain fruits. He recommended water after fruit and to consider sensodyn toothpaste.... His dental assistant w 30 years under her belt confirmed the same. The tooth sensitivity subsided with his recommendation. The dental hygienists are the best I've ever had. Dr. Hashimoto does not push dental work unless it's really needed.

The dentist and staff are great. They do excellent work for routine cleaning and dental procedures. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

They are quick and efficient here but still friendly. The office has an interesting decor vibe with a lot of puzzles on the walls, which are fun to look at while waiting. read more

I shouldn't have to call three times to have my daughter's x-rays sent over. This isn't the first time she's dropped the ball. She's not typical of the office staff. Dr. Hashimoto has been our family dentist for over 20 years, and this review is long overdue. I went back for my first visit since the pandemic, and there are lots of new protocols in place. Upon entering, you sanitize your hands, then they take your temperature, then you sign a waiver. Every staff member is in head-to-toe PPE. In the exam room, there's an operating room grade air purifier, and a vacuum machine that sucks anything that may spray out of your mouth. Each room is completely sanitized between patients. They're not joking around! Besides the new protocols, Dr. Hashimoto and his staff are top rate. They are friendly and treat you like old friends. They don't try pushing elective procedures, like teeth whitening, on you. I'm really happy we have a family dentist that we can trust to take care of our teeth. read more

My regular dentist no longer takes my insurance, so I went to a dentist who told me I needed two crowns. So I went to Dr Hashimoto for another look, like a second opinion. Dr Hashimoto did not tell me I needed two crowns in fact he showed me with the full xray that I needed a root canal redone and referred me to an endodontist. I am staying with Dr Hashimoto. Legit, the best dentist I've ever been to. This guy is a game changer in both personality and actually caring for his patients. Like, oh my god, you can actually be comfortable talking to a dentist? Dang where has this been all my life? I had a cavity in my tooth that was like crater deep. Like you coulda mined ore outta there. I feel like any other dentist would have taken one look and been like "okay screw that, root canal for you" but not Dr Hashimoto. He was like hold on young sir lemme don this superman cape and save the heck outta your tooth. He took one look at my tooth and summoned an appointment slot out of thin air a week later. Like I heard the dental assistants saying "but we don't have any appointments!" and Dr Hashimoto was like "just make it happen!" and it did. Then when it came to actually check out my tooth to see if the solution was just a filling or a dreaded root canal, Dr Hashimoto was so gentle with it. He basically hand cleaned out the cavity instead of using the drill just to try and keep from breaking enamel into root. And holy heck it all worked and I ended up with just a filling. So dope, and even weeks later my tooth feels great. Covid precautions are on point as well. Full on PPE for everyone working there, hand sanitized everything, temperature checks, air purifiers going full blast. Like, maybe other than licking the floor, you will not get covid here. Definitely going to be going with this office for as long as I can. Like, I would legit sit through hours long Bay Area traffic to come here if I ever move away. Def sticking with it here. read more

GUMS DISEASE PREVENTION I had a dentist appointment today but I've been going to Randy for sixteen years starting with my junior year in college. The first advice he gave me on my first appointment was to take care of my gums. My gums were really in awful shape. As he cleaned them my mouth turned into the Red Sea. This is not to scare you but puts you on notice of taking care of your gums to prevent gum diseases in the future. Think of the plant and the soil where your teeth are the plan and the gums are the soil. Taking care of my gums is the best advice Randy has given me. Because of this advice he's great dentist. His staff is also helpful because they give you advices in taking care of your teeth. If you want to take care both of your teeth and gums I highly recommend this place. read more

Good dentist knows really well what he is doing. I had a RC done maybe 20 years back and the crown had fallen couple years back and it was open. I had gotten a filling in 2017 (w/ a different dentist) that had started bothering me in early 2018. I was afraid to go back to the dentist, as I had only gone to one practice in my whole life and didn't want to go through the pain of finding a new one. Finally, a run in with some cold pineapple sent me over the edge and I decided I had to get this filling checked out. I called on a Wednesday and was told the office is only open during the week, the exception being 1 weekend day each month, which happened to be that coming Saturday. Upon hearing of my tooth pain, they agreed to fit me in on their already full schedule. My experience with Dr. Hashimoto couldn't have been better. He listened carefully and upon probing, found that my filling was indeed loose. He offered me an array of solutions including same-day service and quoted me the price beforehand. I found Dr. Hashimoto to be kind, patient, knowledgeable, and most importantly, skillful! He took the time to explain what he was doing and reassured me throughout the entire process. Since they did squeeze me in there was a period of time where I was waiting in the chair, but the dentist and his team checked in with me frequently to ensure I had everything I needed. Dr. Hashimoto promised me I would be back to eating pineapple by the end of the night, and indeed I was! I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Hashimoto and his team for taking care of me, and I am looking forward to further cleanings and services with them. read more

Dr. Hashomoto did a fantastic job replacing my crown. It was all done in one sitting. The doctor removed the old crown, cleaned up the tooth, designed the new crown in front of me(so cool!) and then made it in a machine right there in the office. And finally it fitted just right! Dr. Hashimoto was communicative through out the process and explained each step. The dental appointments are never comfortable but this one was surprisingly pleasant! read more

I've had a few dental experiences that have reminded me of the scene in the Marathon Man, where Lawrence Olivier is torturing Dustin Hoffman by drilling his teeth without anesthesia. Thankfully, none of those white knuckle experiences have ever happened with Dr. Hashimoto. I've been coming to Randy's office since 2000. A lot has changed since then, but Dr. Hashimoto's office still provides the same friendly, excellent service that they always have. One of the things I liked about Dr. Hashimoto, is that instead of trying to upsell unnecessary procedures, he takes a conservative approach to dentistry. Some of the other snake-oil salesmen in the dental field should take a lesson from his high ethics and integrity. I found Dr Hashimoto through Yelp years ago and have been going to him for routine dental work every six months ever since. His 5* reviews are a reflection of excellent care for his patients. This husband / wife team treats their patients like family members. Their extensive staff all take extremely good care of you from the moment you walk in the door. Proof of that caring attitude came today when I called for an appointment hoping to get in next week for a new tooth pain. Dr Hashimoto and his staff insisted I come in today so that I didn't have to suffer over the weekend. If you're looking for a caring, honest, high quality dentist, you can't find anyone better. Dr Hashimoto prides himself in conservative treatments - only what's necessary. Proof of that is my bills are 100% covered by insurance. I'll admit, I had some terrible dentist experiences as a child and tried to avoid dentists for a long time in my adulthood because of it. When I chipped my front tooth one evening I realized I couldn't avoid them any longer. I asked around and heard that Dr. Hashimoto was friendly, understanding, and had a good rapport with his clients. I called his office and they immediately knew that my insurance would accept them and squeezed me in the next day. Dr. Hashimoto was so kind! He didn't berate me for not seeing a dentist in years; he explained everything he and his team would do before proceeding; he didn't try to upsell anything you me; and he never performed any unnecessary procedures. In fact, his conservative approach (e.g. watching a tiny cavity, that doesn't bother you, too see if it progresses rather than making you spend the money to have it drilled immediately) to dental treatments has had me going back regularly for cleanings for 2+ years now. It's not just Dr. Hashimoto that's great. The whole staff is always welcoming! I've seen a few different dental hygienists, but Victor is my go-to guy for regular dental cleanings. He's so nice and it's clear he loves his job. As for the office itself, the walls of the dental rooms are adorned with completed jigsaw puzzles. It gives a cozy feel to the place and gives me something to focus on when I'm lying back in the dental chair. That coupled with the upbeat (but not too energetic) pop music playing over head creates a comfortable environment. I took my two young children (9 and 3) to see Dr. Hashimoto for the first time today. This is a FANTASTIC dental office! There was amazing customer service from the first day that I booked the appointment (OLGA IS GREAT!) and a sense of caring from everyone who works there. It was the first time my 3 year old had been to see a dentist. I was affraid that she would give them a hard time, not let them clean her teeth and just cry a lot. But to my surprise the hygenist made her feel so comfortable that she ended up really enjoying her visit. How many people can say that a three year old LIKED the dentist appointment?! The hygenist did a great job of putting her at ease and even made the cleaning a fun thing for her. As far as Dr Hashimoto, he was really great. I got the feeling that he truly cares about his patients, no matter what age they are.He didn't rush through the appointment, he took his time with each child and made sure that he answered all questions regarding their hygiene regimen. This review is long overdue. While on the search for a dentist in Fremont years ago, I went to 3 others in the area for visits/consultations. All of them had differing input on the amount of work I needed done. i.e. number of cavities I had. Some recommended a ridiculous amount of work. One even said I needed 2 root canals 7 years ago which I have not done and am still fine today? I did choose another dentist, but wasn't happy with the work done or how the office was run. When i finally got to Dr. Hashimoto about 6 years ago, I hope I never have to leave his care. He says what he sees and evaluates them and makes recommendations as if it were his own teeth. He just makes so much sense and I know I can really trust him. My husband and kids now go to him also. He's really great with little kids too. Once you've had the best, you really can't go back. Even if my insurance stopped covering them, I would pay additional out of pocket to see him. Yes, he and his whole practice are just that good. read more

How on earth have I not yet written a review for Dr. Hashimoto? Crazy. My mom started going to Dr. Hashimoto over a decade ago. When we moved to the East Bay 9 years ago, he became our family dentist. Why do we love him? Here's why in no particular order 1) great dentist. 2) awesome staff. 3) ethical. 4) personable. 5) great with kids. 6) great reference for a root canal He is literally the first dentist who didn't try to add on a ton of additional work (every other dentist capped a visit with "you have cavities, your crown should be redone, you should get a nightguard, you need more of an overbite, you should fix that..."). Dr. Hashimoto listened to all of these other "must do" procedures and adopted a "let's wait and see" approach. 9 years later, he has not seen evidence that I need ANY of this work done. My kids worship him - they floss and brush every day because they wouldn't want to disappoint Dr. Hashimoto (btw, my kids are cavity free). We all need a dentist like this in our lives. read more

Looks like I am one of the few patients that had a bad experience with this doctor office. The waiting time for appointments it's insane. I had appointments cancelled by them for internal issues more than once. But the worst was to get the appointment rescheduled months away. They were also not very cooperative in transfering my records to a new office, They don't seem a well organized office to me. I am looking for my primary dentist. Fortunately I meet with Dr Hashimoto at Chabot college where he's one of the teachers or instructors at there. He's not money doctor but he's a real doctor who cares about the patient. He saved my teeth. Before I meet him, I didn't know my teeth condition. When I met him at Chabot college where I helped my friend in her practice being a patient, he noticed my bone loss and about taking orthodontic treatment. He concerned my teeth condition and explaining my condition and willing to help me and gave his time even I was not his patient yet at that time. He helped me to get the best decision for my teeth. My husband recommended Dr. Hashimoto for a second opinion after my dentist in Alameda told me I needed a crown after a root canal. I saw Dr. Hashimoto and he was able to put a filling instead of a crown, which saved me about $1000, and the tooth is fine. He said that he would try a filling first, and if it failed he would do a crown, but didn't think it would be necessary....5 months later the tooth is fine. Great experience I've had for a very long time. After a chain of bad and shady dentists who were never upfront with charges and services performed, I found one that was perfect for my family. I recently moved to Fremont and did not have anyone to recommend us a good dentist so I went to one that were sending us advertisement in the mail. Very clean and big place with the new and fancy individual TVs and everything. The dentist said my wife's teeth were in bad shape and I need some work as well. She quoted us about $4K to do deep clean and redo old fillings for my wife and I. I asked for a copy of our xrays. Went home and sent it to my dentist friend from out of town and completely disagreed with she said. I took a risk and found Dr. Randall Hashimoto. Olga the reception was super down to earth and sweet. I told her my situation and she squeezed my in that same week! Dr. Hashimoto's office had a very classic feel of a dentist office I went to when I was kid during the 80s. He took over the business from his retired father. Great man, very honest, went through my x-rays and also disagreed with the previous dentist. Olga ran an estimate and it would cost us only $200 and he was doing at least have of the previous recommendation. Make sure to ask your new dentist if they are in network because they dont tell you upfront and it could be a time waster. I just saw him the other day for a new crown, which involves removing a lot of bad tooth, building up the core, making a temp crown, taking impressions, then coming back for the placement of the permanent crown. I was expecting a nightmare, but it went really smoothly, without any pain (except the initial shot), and no post-op pain! I was surely expecting to have soreness around my gums and want to pop some Advil, but even after eating there was no pain whatsoever. He is the man.... read more
