Cool little spot. The service was ok. We had a large party and they were quite busy so it got a little difficult to order drinks throughout dinner. It had a nice small town historic vibe. Bar is cozy. Both burgers that were ordered at our table were over cooked . The lettuce and tomato was not delivered as requested and it was difficult to get our server's attention. I ordered the Papa Don burger, which was pretty good with its brisket on top, however no kind of sauce was on it and it was pretty dry. I would have liked some aioli or just a good bbq sauce. read more

Stopped in for the first time to try some food, I sat at a table near the bar. Waitress came and gave me a menu and took my drink order. I reviewed the menu and waited for my drink to come and to place my order. After 10 mins of waiting, I left. I understand it may have been busy. Food was great and service was awesome. My main complaint was the acoustics. It was so noisy, I felt other tables were echoing and my husband with hearing aids could not understand anything and it was giving me a headache. Decent place but not worth it. Service is always good Food is meh. Edible but not enjoyable. Went on a Wednesday. Got "2 for 1" wings. Figured it'd be a good deal. Wings were meh. We got 13 wings total for $14 WITH THE 2 for 1. Buck a wing. So if you come here on a normal day you're paying $2 a wing. I don't have that kind of money. Not recommended. read more

Still waiting for food, we've been waiting 2 hours. Had to ask to have music turned down to have a conversation. No drink refills with out asking, even water. UPDATE: One person in our group asked the manager why the wait was so long. She said they had an unexpected group of approximately 100 guests. We felt we should have been informed of the extra long wait, instead of our frustrated wait and one star first impression, we would have gone elsewhere and returned another day. Food was wonderful. Unfortunately the food was very sub par and the servers were not concerned with fixing it. My daughter's $20 steak that was ordered medium came more than well done to the point of not being able to be chewed. More importantly, I specifically ordered from the gluten free menu due to for allergies and still received my soup with crackers and croutons in it. I do not recommend. read more

Stopped there today at approximately 1. 2 people sitting at the bar and a table of 4 eating. Waited at least 10 minutes. My husband and I both had time to go to the bathroom....then wait.... Finally the bartender came out, walked right past us, picked up her tips from the other 2 that left (waiting but obviously had lunch and griped then left....) No "sorry I didn't know you were here" or "sorry I am doing 2 jobs for 1 possibly". NOTHING. We had a beer and a shot and left. Had we not waited more than 10 minutes just to get our drinks we'd have ordered food. The last time we stopped we waited longer than left. This place is great if you're waited on in a timely manner but FFS. A simple apology would go a long way. We always stop here on the way to Erie, especially if we are going to a concert or event. '2 concerts ago' we gave up. So much potential...so little supervision or caring bc of the owners or whomever. I'd say within the past year we stopped 6x and left 3 bc we couldn't get waited on. read more

I went there with a friend for their Prime Rib and was very happy. Cooked the way I ordered ( pink not bloody) plus an unexpected bonus was the lady tending bar used to work with my friend. We sat there and chatted and the Service for a full meal at the bar was perfect. We took desert home as It also looked good but we couldn't eat everything from the meal lol. First of all, let me say that this was THE BEST steak salad I have ever had in my life! It was phenomenal - a huge piece of steak cooked to my liking with fresh veggies and fantastic homemade dressing. LOVED IT! Service was also good - not too overwhelming but very friendly and appropriately attentive. I think the server may have also worked in the bar - the bar had several customers but I was the only one in the restaurant area. Here's the bad part. As another reviewer said, this place smells terribly of smoke. It was so bad that I was afraid it would ruin the taste of my food. Thank goodness that wasn't the case. However, that part of the experience was very unpleasant. One more thing: they charge more if you pay credit card than cash. I am very picky. I don't like chain restaurants and I like food that actually tastes good. I prefer to dine in nice locally owned places. This particular day I wanted something different and was down for a short drive. The first place that came to mind was the Waterford Hotel. I don't think I've ever eaten there prior. It was packed but we were seated immediately. They had a stuffed chicken breast on special that was my first choice. They were out of it so I settled on the 5oz sirloin steak with mushrooms and onions from the lighter menu. My partner chose the tavern turkey dinner that came with stuffing and gravy. Totally drool worthy. Almost every menu item comes with soup or salad, a roll, vegetable, and your choice of potato. It was like having a nice home cooked meal. This was my favorite part. The portions were perfect and all the food was delicious. I would return here weekly. read more

Nice historic hotel with good service, fair prices and a nice crowd to make a convivial atmosphere. Even has dinner specials in one of three dining rooms decorated with historic pictures. An inviting curved staircase gives an illusion that the customer is welcome upstairs this spacious mansion to assess the quality of what a person imagined would be event rooms or meeting rooms. Not so. Sometime in the distant past, the owners shut off a number of rooms and left only a storage space and a small office. A simple sign saying 'Employees Only' or an elegant velvet rope across the bottom of the steps would preclude a guest from wandering upstairs, without detracting from the look of the staircase at all. Why not let us know? People should be informed of boundaries. Just because you know what they are, you shouldn't assume everyone else does. Avoid discomfort for your customers by giving advance warning. I don't want to wind up in the kitchen or the basement by mistake either. read more

The restaurant and bar are housed in a beautiful old historic building - obviously once a hotel. The bar allows smoking, which is pretty rare around here nowadays, but if that's not your thing, they have a separate non-smoking restaurant area. The food is decent, although not spectacular - other than their awesome French onion soup, which is some of the best in the area. Their wings are big and not bad, although their sauces seem mostly ketchup based. Still, the staff are always awesome and friendly and the building is beautiful, so it's worth checking out for the atmosphere alone. read more

Wonderful! I got the pickle sandwich with a salad instead of fries, the raspberry vinaigrette was by far my favorite that I've had anywhere. My das got a steak cooked medium rare which he let me have a bite of and it was cooked to perfection. My family and I Shared some fried calamari that came with an interest sauce (tasted a little like sweet and spicy) it was good, as well as the fried banana peppers. Atmosphere was pleasant, food timing was great, and had a very friendly staff. Highly recommend this restaurant, I will for sure visit again!!! read more

Let see, from the outside it would appear that you should get ready for a fine dinning experience with the exception of the cheesy "LED" sign out front, which is totally out of character for the town and the building. Once inside you see that its a little more casual but very beautiful inside, it being an old historic building makes it ooze with character. The remodeling done to it twenty or so years ago has held up well and the current owner has refreshed the paint now and again keeping it looking nice. The bar and most of the dinning area are separated because they still allow smoking at the bar which has plenty of seating if you wish to light up. The inside and outside appearance are the Waterford Hotel's greatest assets since the rest of the experience is mediocre for the most part. The menu is varied from bar food to some entree's but more on the bar side. The prices are all very reasonable and consistently below $10, but with most things in life you get what you pay for. Its not that the food or the service is ever bad, its just not ever great. My recommendation is to try their wings, they have a flavor called "Plumber" which after being fried and sauced is then grilled giving them a very nice texture and taste. So , if your up for ok food at a ok price with ok service this is your place. If the management would kick the food up just a notch and give most of the servers better direction and apparel this place could be awesome, because like I said earlier, the building and interior are awesome! read more

Stopped in for drinks at 10pm on a Friday night, in town for holiday. Bar seating is packed, one table left, Barmaid comes to our table says; it would have been better for me if you sat at the bar! We said, there's four of us, no room! Then barmaid says; well if you're here for food kitchen closed! 'So much for 'advertising late night food'. We said, we are here for drinks only. We asked how late are you open? Barmaid said, whenever we wanna close! Guess business is great that you don't have to be nice to a group stopping by for drinks! Just had the salmon and shrimp dinner, green beans on the side and side salad. Salad one of the best I've had. Lots of mixed greens, Mandarin oranges, black olives, etc. Homemade ranch dressing was excellent. Salmon and shrimp with bourbon glaze was very good.
