Once seated, we were served by Yvette who did an outstanding job! She was cheerful, made great suggestions, timely in all aspects of service, & was a great representative of the business by always speaking well of how things were prepared & handled by the staff. The food was excellent. My sampler included meatloaf, ham, & a boneless pork chop. All portions were extremely generous & I feel one would be hard pressed to find a better value for the price of our meals. I was disappointed that the dinner rolls were not homemade but they were still good. While Sugar 'n Spice IS located in a historic building, it's my opinion the decor is far from adequate in conveying without necessarily having to imitate an early 1800s atmosphere. Early 20th century 'grandma' is not the look I would choose & a deep cleaning would bring about substantial improvement. Such changes would easily bump my rating to 5-stars. A hour of travel for a solid dining experience is something my wife & I are willing to do. I will now add Sugar 'n Spice to our list of worthwhile options. May your experience be every bit as pleasant as ours! ------------ Hey, fellow Yelpers! If you've read to this point, please take a moment to rate my review as it helps keep me motivated. Thank you!

I've interacted with a LOT of restaurant employees at many restaurants in many states, and I've never met someone as friendly, hard working, and just all around fun to be around as her, Erie, your store has a real gem, and next time I'm in the area, definitely stopping in. (And that's coming from someone who detoured off I90 to this mall once before with the sole purpose of getting Primanti Bros). As much as I love my new, local Lexington store it will not be the same without her and the rest of the training crew here. (And if someone at corporate sees this, you absolutely picked the right person to be a trainer, if everyone were lucky enough to know her, the world would be a much better place!)

We didn't like anything. Everything was flavorless, and over priced. We had the firebird's duranjo burger. Nice size, but over cooked and not seasoned. The parmesean crusted chicken, although a nice size and cooked perfectly again no seasoning, expected to be able taste the Parmesan crust, nothing.. We both upgraded our side to the southwest au gratin potatoes. Au gratin potatoes a creamy jalepeno cream sauce sounds like a flavor bomb, NOPE, the potatoes were under cooked and not sure how you manage not to get flavor out of jalepeno cream sauce, but they did! The crispy cauliflower with the jar sweet chili sauce was probably the best thing we did have. You can get brunch all day so, I ordered the hipster toast, and I was pictured cat fished. Mine was nothing like the picture, although I appreciate they didn't build the toast for take out and allowed me to do that myself. Still, there was maybe 7 little little cubes of avocado, no pickled onions, no spiced pecans, no parmesan cheese. What I did get was a piece of toast with goat cheese, then a box of arugula, 7 pieces of small small avocado, candied bacon pieces, radishes and heirloom tomatoes. Basically a 17 plus salad on bread. Totally a waste and not worth it. I will say though, the cilantro lime vinaigrette was delicious. But spending over 90 bucks and only enjoying a vingerette and cauliflower, won't have be coming back. Maybe ordering on Superbowl Sunday was a mistake, but I'll never know.

We had our dog with us so we only planted to get carry out, and then we discovered a shaded patio. We decided to stay and eat outside. I was standing at the host stand for quite a while because I hadn't noticed the seat yourself sign. I had also walked in the restaurant and was looking around for any employee - two servers at a table saw me standing there looking confused but then just went right back into the kitchen. When another guest pointed out the sign, I thought well that's great but if we want to sit outside will they ever know we are there. Someone finally returned to the bar and we were able to get a server. We ended up ordering three appetizers - skoat balls, cheese sticks, peach Burrata. All three good. I also ordered a blueberry mint mocktail beer that was actually quite disappointing. It was also quite a charming little town! Would like to go back again sometime, sadly that is unlikely to ever happen.

He caught my attention with the Thursday special of chicken and biscuits, so we checked it out. There's a small dining area - maybe 15 tables? - and a bar, so it's a bit snug and every table was filled when I went in to get a menu, thinking we'd do take-out, but there was no wait when we decided to do dine-in. We had to wait a short time for the server to get to us, but she was great - good recommendations for narrowing down our choices and just the right amount of attentive after we ordered. I started with the crab cake appetizer, which came with a zesty sauce. I enjoyed them, although I'm used to flattened crab cakes and these were more ball- shaped. I had the chicken and biscuits, which was very tasty - nice chunks of white meat in gravy, over real mashed potatoes and generous biscuits. The cole slaw was just right - crunchy and a little sweet, not overpowered by mayonnaise. Partner had the shepherd's pie, which, as our server cautioned, was heavily seasoned with thyme, but had great flavor and a nice mix of vegetables under the mashed potatoes. I wish we had had space for dessert! The menu is *really* inclusive, from prime rib to pasta to burgers to vegetarian options and a kid's section. There's something for everyone here!
