I first heard about Gunnar bikes, aka Waterford Precision Bikes, over 12 years ago. I purchased a Crosshairs frame and it's been a wonderful bike. In 2019 as I was approaching retirement I purchased another Gunnar to take advantage of hydraulic disc brakes in cycling. My Crosshairs became my travel bike. Recently after returning from an east coast trip a crack was found in my Crosshairs while in for a tuneup. I was broken hearted to think I might lose this great frame. After contacting the staff at Waterford/Gunnar I was told that my 12 year old frame would be repaired, under warranty. I was shocked, to say the least. While not a common frame the staff at Waterford/Gunnar produce excellent bikes and even better, stand behind them. You will never regret buying a Waterford/Gunnar bike. I wanted to thank you so much for helping with my Gunnar! (For those who don't know, Waterford Cycles also produces Gunnar Cycles...) I had a small issue with my Gunnar frame, and they went out of their way to help me repair it under my warranty. The repaired frame is perfect. I've bought bikes from several manufacturers over the years, but Gunnar is truly in a different league. The frame is definitely top of the line, but it's sold at an incredible price. On top of that, my customer service experience with you couldn't have been better. You guys really went above and beyond to help me out. Johanna spent a considerable amount of time over the phone with me patiently answering my questions and explaining the difference between Gunnar and Waterford. (Same quality, tubing, etc, just that Gunnar is stock sizes and Waterford is custom if the existing Gunnar stock frames don't completely suit your needs.) A top-class experience. High quality steel bikes offer a ride that are a joy to feel... and Gunnar makes amazing steel. After some time on a Roadie, I wanted to go disc and discovered that Gunnar offers disc models to order. I chose a Hyper X. Gunnar does offer stock sizes, however I wanted a steel version of a carbon bike I am replacing. After some quick research and a conversation with a Gunnar consultant, the project quickly progressed. It's this easy: 1. Choose a frame design. Johanna helped clarify details, confirmed via email, and presto, all set. Johanna made some suggestions to make my bike more versatile for my purposes, such as sizing the head tube to 44mm in case I wanted to run a carbon fork. 2. Choose a color. Gunnar has a custom paint shop that offers a full spectrum of choices. 3. Watch the mail... 4. Ride an amazing machine made by an American company designed and built in the USA. When I saw there were negative reviews here, I was quite surprised. I would think there must have been a miscommunication at some point, which is unfortunate but in my experience the customer support at Waterford is nothing short of amazing. Like the Gunnar owner below, I too had a very minor issue with a frame originally produced in 2002. I reluctantly sent the frame up to Waterford to inspect it for a potential warranty repair. To my surprise, they decided the frame needed repair and were going to start the work immediately. They actually first offered to build me a new bike at a substantial discount, but I was so pleased with my bike already I opted for the repair. Again, to my surprise, they encouraged me to take advantage of the opportunity to paint it a new color. This is like getting a new bike! A month later I received my new again frame through my LBS and I'm in love all over again. The frame returned with all new hardware and they even frame-saved it at no additional charge (by accident?). Either way, what a deal! I got the feeling that they fully took care of me, no questions asked. Also, Johanna was very pleasant to communicate with and she was extremely thorough in responding to any questions I had in a timely fashion. What I'm trying to say here is these folks make really well crafted bikes and there customer service is on par with the quality of the bikes. They obviously take pride in what they do. They are thorough, and you get a complete package as a customer. I'm 31 years old, and I hope that over the next 30 years I'll be able to buy more bikes from Waterford or Gunnar. They will be my first choice for a frame in the future. read more

I purchased a Waterford R-33 in 2008. Even with racing and substantial miles, the frame continues to have full integrity (no flex). In terms of Customer Service, I recently obtained a new paint job because of a minor, original paint defect. Waterford was prompt in responding to my concerns, and the company provided sanding, chemical treatment and paint service at no cost. This company, like its frames, has integrity. Scott read more

Update: after a lot of litigation with the shop owner, my frame was begrudgingly replaced. They wouldn't offer a warranty on the work that was done, and need to seriously change their attitude. I won't be returning. read more

They don't forget about you after the delivery of your frame. Replacement parts, re-paints, rebuilds - They're very easy to deal with and seem to have an uncanny ability to remember customers and their particular frames. read more
