I was visiting from out of town this weekend. On our way home we decided to stop by and order something to go since we traveled with our dogs. Upon entry we were told that they won't let us order food to go. We we're shocked, so we sat down to order a quick meal before hitting the road home. The waitress who sat us asked for our drink order, we ordered one ice tea and one ice water. We did get any menus. The table next to us ordered and the waitress had two menus, I asked if we could have them and she ignored me. The waitress that sat us said if we would just be patient our waitress would bring us menus (we didn't even know WHO our waitress was). I told her the other waitress was standing right next us with two menus and she just walked off. Our waitress came to our table and under her breath "geez just give me a minute" as she set two glasses of ice tea on our table. (Note again, we only ordered one). We ordered a crab burger and grilled shrimp. Fortunately for my lunch date he loved his crab burger. The shrimp was over cooked and the baked potato was under cooked. Under normal circumstances I would have returned the meal, but at this point we have had such attitude I was just ready to leave. When they served the baked potato they set a service tray of shredded cheese, sour cream, and imitation bacon bits. These service trays were reused from patron to patron. Completely unsanitary!!! And to top off our lovely experience when the waitress brought our check, she flung it at me and wouldn't let go. As we we're waiting for the receipt, we did note you could get a room go go box, but not order take out I could understand if if they were slammed, but that was not the case. Needless to say we paid, we left, and we won't be back. The employees of this establishment very obviously only like to engage with the locals and not the travelers. read more

The service was definitely five star worthy with our attentive, personable waitress Madison! The food was by no means bad, tasted great just not quite 5 star worthy. However the hush puppies are a must to try and we will be back to try out more options sooner than later! read more

Wow I couldn't give more than one star. First we walk in with a party of 9... must have upset them then. They started talking to each other and seemed like it was an inconvenience for them to put tables together. When ordering drinks if we asked if they had something instead of saying no or yes she just repeated what they did have over and over as if we were dumb. After ordering our food she brought over two loaves of bread. I should have taken a picture of it..... there was a cockroach baked into the side of it. It was small one but that's not the point. When we got the waitress to come over I showed her the bread and cockroach. She didn't apologize or say anything other than "oh let me get you another one" you would think someone... manager or even the waitress would say hey sorry. Nope. Then she goes and talked to the cook and other waitresses I'm sure about it. After that she seemed to be upset I had the nerve to say anything. The food was NOT good. My husband, daughter and I paid $75 for food we wouldn't even bring home. Husband got a ribeye, daughter got a burger and I got the fried crawfish. We also got a side of fried shrimp. Crawfish and shrimp had ZERO flavor. Shrimp was not good at all. We took one bite of the 5 we ordered and left the rest. Hubby said steak was decent and my daughter ate half her burger. The rest of the party said the same thing, no flavor for the seafood but burgers were decent. Our waitress just made it seem like we were bothering her. I was really hoping to get some good seafood from a place that seemed to have good reviews boy were we disappointed. Employee's are very unprofessional and borderline criminal given the current pandemic. The hostess was apparently drunk and very rude, blew off multiple guests and took several people off the list to accommodate for their friends. On my most recent visit I watched the hostess and a chef talking trash about a customer and laughing about removing their group from the list. There were no masks to be seen, including the cook staff from what I saw. There was no social distancing enforcement, barely had enough room to sit in my chair to begin with. read more

The shrimp Alfredo pasta is absolutely amazing. Food in general is good here. However we only received two of our 3 salads. The two we did receive both came with the wrong dressing. They were not packed or that busy while we were there. Prices seem very high. A plate of fried shrimp and fries is like $20. Again food is good, servers are friendly but over priced. read more

We live here, a couple hundred yards as the crow flies to this restaurant. It is our go to place. Enjoy a great view of the harbor while you eat. Although the seafood is great, their ribeye steak is awesome, a signature item. Highly recommend this place. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Matagorda. A wide variety of dishes. My husband has had the Pork Chops and loved them. He usually gets the seafood platter. Nice selection and always good. I have the fried soft shelled crabs. Always a hit. (I do like blackened as well wish they would offer it that way too!) They have a bar, good drinks. Friendly wait staff and quick service. Happened to be in Matagorda and decided to try out the food at the Waterfront restaurant. Relaxing setting inside with a nice view of the harbour. It is upstairs but wheelchair accessible due to the long ramp. Waitress was very attentive and responded promptly to our various requests. We had the chicken fried steak and the shrimp Poboy. Both were very tasty. Well worth the stop and we will dine here again on our next trip to Matagorda!! read more

A friend recommended we dine here while in Matagorda (it is located in the Harbor) and suggested we try the rib-eye and stuffed broiled flounder. We were pleased that they had a full bar and ordered Gulf oysters to start. The oysters were excellent and seemed very fresh and were a good size and value. We had a rib-eye and the stuffed broiled flounder which came with 2 sides - we both chose baked potato and dinner salad. Both the ranch and blue cheese dressings were very good as was the complimentary bread served with our meal. The rib-eye was cooked perfectly and very good - the stuffed broiled flounder was exceptional and was worth the drive in itself. The baked potato was cooked well and came with the old-fashioned (but much loved) butter, sour cream, cheddar cheese and Bacos tray. I would have given 5 stars but the service was just okay and they don't have any to-go menus and instead suggested I take a picture with my phone - definitely not customer friendly!!! read more

HEY EVERYBODY! If you like absolutely atrocious customer service then come here! My family along with 3 others came to this restaurant this evening looking for a good meal somewhere nearby (we chose here because there's really not much else to choose from in Matagorda). Upon waking to the door, our family, and the others, were very rudely asked to leave and eat some place else as they could not accept any more customers for the rest of the night. Granted it is spring break, but they weren't closing for another 3 hours! I would have happily waited 30-45 mins to eat there vs. having to drive to another town (Bay City) about 25 miles away. Dear management at Waterfront, you suck. I have no idea how you have a 4 Star review but just know I didn't want to pay your 30$ a person prices anyway. read more

My son and I stopped here for lunch. It was about 11:45 and there was one other table occupied. The service was ok, but not great. The food took a long time to come out, about half an hour and it was not very good. I was hoping it would have been much better, being right on the water. The fish didn't have much flavor, the crab rolls were dry and bland. The best part of the meal was actually French fries. I had those 3 things and spent $15 plus tip. My husband and I took a chance tonight to see if Waterfront was open. We were thrilled to see that in fact it was open. Coming into this place feels so welcoming. We loved our waitress Angie. Inedible. NO redeeming qualities. Really, couldn't eat it. I think it was a powdered mix. Meat tasted like it came from a laboratory.

With all respect I want to express my feelings on this restaurant and the service. With all my heart I want to tell y'all that the service and food was no good. The truth is that if the owner gave me a chance to put their service and a cooker and a waitress everything would be different, because their foods has no flavor and their service of waitress don't work. My opinion is that view is a beautiful place but they need new cookers and waitress that love their work because the person who does their work with love everything comes out excellent and it looks like that the people who work there right now don't work with passion. You're mostly paying for the view. The food is extremely adequate -- as someone said below, your basic middle-of-the-road seafood. Service wasn't very good, but it was a crowded Saturday night, so that might have been it. read more

We went here about 3 years ago. The place was packed and the service was outrageously slow. We decided to give them another chance today; I couldn't believe it was the same again! We walked in and everyone was running around like they were severely understaffed. One overworked and exhausted looking girl tried to be polite and said she would get us seated as soon as possible. Another couple waiting outside commented that the place was full and no one had food on their table. We got the heck out of there quick. Came to Matagorda to go camping with family & wanted a nice dinner spot and fresh seafood. Highly recommend the stuffed flounder! Place was super busy due to a Christmas light boat parade, fireworks & gumbo cook off at the harbor on the evening we dined, but understand it was a busy night & despite the crowds waitress was attentive. Came back next day for lunch before heading home to Austin, shrimp salad was excellent, lots of fresh shrimp, though I asked for the cooked shrimp to be placed on top plain vs tossed in tartar sauce as waitress had described. Will definitely eat here again on our next visit. read more
