I finally feel like I'm on vacation when I have fried shrimp and this was a wonderful place to have it! After two days of cheese and crackers and a few nuts I scarfed down the boudin balls (MUST HAVE they were soooo delicious), fried shrimp which was very fresh and absolutely perfect, potato salad (yum) and hush puppies (really good). [[HIGHLIGHT]]My dog was welcomed on the patio with a huge bowl of water with fancy ice cubes and he made so many friends that he's going to insist we go back tomorrow.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress Angela was lovely and thoughtful in all of the ways, in addition to the ice water for Mochi she brought me a huge to-go cup of water as if she could intuit that perhaps I hadn't had enough water in the past few days. We also chatted about Matagorda and Bay City attractions and all in all the experience was so good I'm definitely in agreement with my dog that we have to go back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the chill vibe of Matagorda and Snappers epitomized that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We stopped for a quick lunch. The shrimp basket was fantastic with local shrimp and the fried pickles were excellent. We had two margaritas, which were also good plus a CORONA beer would recommend this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good place to stop and have a quick drink and a meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]In the summer, it may be hot but right now the weather is fantastic just the right temperature.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was a place that had a hard restaurant at what time which was burnt down by a fire and now it's a tent with a bar we recommend supporting them good place.

The food here was amazing! The fries were delicious, the blackened Mai fish dinner was good and the chicken strips were awesome!! The service was great, she was very kind and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We liked that the restaurant had outdoor seating but the bugs were a little out of hand for us[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Small roadside seafood joint that was perfect after a hot night camping on Matagorda Island. We sat next to a huge fan to cool us off from the hot August day drinking a Twisted Tea and Snapper sandwich blackened. The waitress was really great and even gave my friend's son a homemade cupcake when we left that could compare to the best made ones of the city. Enjoyed the atmosphere of this outside seafood place and the food was fresh and well made.

Grilled chicken wrap. Big as shit.

9/21 Saturday. Had a bunch of good food - steak fingers and chicken fried steak sandwich. The wrap is actually so big could only eat half.

The turn in to the restaurant, now temporary food truck with outdoor seating.

Visiting from Austin for the week, this was the only restaurant we ate at in Matagorda…read more Service: seated quick and our server was attentive, though not particularly friendly. Ambience: minimal lighting, tables grouped closely together. Food: absolutely horrendous and egregiously priced. Most menu items come with a salad. Here's their salad stacking system: they place about a dozen filled salad plates on the counter. Then the servers stack the plates, where the bottom of each plate squishes down on each salad directly below it, and then they distribute to the tables. I unfortunately had already eaten my three salvageable bites of wilted dirty-counter salad before I saw this. So gross. Complimentary bread was just basic warmed dinner rolls with those little airplane butter packets in a basket on the table. You pay for more bread if you want it. We ordered the $21.95 crab rolls, the $13.95 gumbo, and a $6.00 baked potato. The crab rolls, we expected crab on rolls (bread). They were actually deep-fried crab... dumplings?... where the fried breading on the outside was also present and undercooked on the inside. The strangest thing we've ordered in a long time, and I acknowledge we could've asked about it first, but again... we thought we knew what a crab roll was. The gumbo was a mess of soggy sad veggies (mostly celery) and what looked like minute rice. There were minimal chunks of what could've been shrimp? If Campbells soup made a gumbo in a can, it would taste exactly like what I was served. I thought it was a safe order, I was wrong. The dry baked potato came with those nuclear red fake-bacon bits on the side, sour cream and shredded cheese. No green onions, no butter to spruce it up at all. I thought a $6 baked potato would have more pizazz. Our favorite thing was the fries that came with the abomination that was the crab rolls. They were crispy. Who don't like crispy fries? So anyway, I highly recommend not ordering anything we tried if you want to have a better experience here. We ourselves will not be back, ever.

Our greeting when we came in was not the most friendly, woman behind the bar didn't even smile and mumbled something that I assume was our greeting. Our server, though nice, seemed very new and inexperienced. But she seemed to be nervously trying to do a good jobl My drink order never was what I ordered. I think there was confusion with the server and woman behind the bar. Our server didn't seem old enough to serve it to me, it was broght over by bar tender. It was pricey for not ever really getting what I requested. The day we were there, they had one of the garage doors open and the front door as well. It was so cold in there, we almost left to go elsewhere as I suspected the food would be cold before it got to the table to be eaten. After our 2nd request, they finally closed the one garage door,, but was still a bit chilly. Then they told us they just put the heater on. (the heater helped but have entry door open to bring food in from food trailer) We didn't realize the food was made in an outside trailer and walked inside. I got the crawfish tail ? Ettofee baked potato ? Ettofee sp?. Although The potato was well baked, and the sauce was Very good, there was only 4 or 5 very small crawfish tails on it. I ended up taking it home with me as it just wouldn't stay warm enough for me to eat more of it. I wish they would of had some type of thermal box, or cover to bring the food in from the outside trailer to the table... My husband had a mushroom swiss burger which was good, and some really delicious flat shaped fries, but again, keeping our food warm enough to eat it was not the best situation. There were some really good looking things on the menu, but it was just too cold in there that day. During nice weather, I'm sure our experience would have been much better, as it seems like a really nice place with a very nice patio with great view.

Seadrift is a small town of just under 1000 people, sometimes your job and get a little cumbersome. It showed. Staying in Tivoli at an AirBnb, so we thought we'd give it a try based on local recommendation. Was hoping it was that hole in the wall knock your socks off establishment that would make me want to stop again and again. But it wasn't. Maybe my expectations were too high going in. Let's start with the positives. Crab dip was creamy and delicious, just didn't taste like crab. Oyster appetizers should always come on a half shell. The Rock-yer-feller oysters came on a small ceramic plate that came out of the oven with no shells. The flavor was just ok. I wouldn't get it again. The oysters were hardy and good in size, made me feel like maybe they were from a jar or can. Stuff crab was meh. Shrimp didn't have seasoning, cocktail sauce was vinegar based? There was just a strong vinegar presence. The fish was by far the all star but even it tasted a little slimy when you took off the breading. Zero seasoning on the breading. The fried oysters were delicious, and I loved the fried mushrooms. Hush puppies are from a freezer bag. My daughter loved her fried chicken tenders. At $170 for three appetizers and three meals with one Dr Pepper, I felt like someone just kicked my dog. We didn't buy any, but the Snow crab was MP at $54 a pound? That's 100-150% markup from the wholesale. HEB sells it for $22 a lb at retail which is at least a 40% markup from wholesale. If your prices are going to be that high, your food should meet the expectation. It felt more like a person, opening a seafood restaurant in a fishing community, that buys everything from a frozen vendor, cooks it like a fast food restaurant, and sells it at a farm to table price. I paid and tipped generously. But there was nothing that made me want to come back.
