Philosophy: Crying kids, but it's OK as long as they are "safe" Run, don't walk away from this swim torture school! Don't let the crowds fool you. There are lots of people in Florida who buy into this philosophy that "all kids must cry to learn to swim...they'll get over it." "Safety is our number one priority" It is so weird that you, the parent are made to feel stupid for wanting swimming to be fun. Of course, you want safety, but if you are a good parent you know you do NOT need to have your children terrfied and kept away from you. You don't want a person forcing them to swim against their will. Ignoring their tears and fright because "safety is so important." If your child is fearful of the water, or not confident, or scared of teachers, this is NOT the place for swim lessons. Many kids do just fine there and some people love it. When you talk to them on the phone they will admit you are NOt allowed near the pool and that your child will cry. And they won't stop the lesson but will force them. Very very bad strategy and not one you would tolerate for one second in preschool or any other kind of lesson. No one should willingly use power to make your kids cry. This place has a rigid structure and no exceptions are made if your kids needs a little more TLC. My friend also had a rigid a bad experience, her son cried for weeks, "and they just didn't care," she said. She went to Lafleurs on Anderson and is very pleased. Please don't do this to your kids at Seal. Yes, I did NOT take lessons there. Because I had called a lot of schools because of this exact same attitude and prior lessons and it had made my children scared and distrustful of the water (NOT SAFE). I went to this wesley chapel location to pick up an application for employment when to my surprise i saw there working as an instructor the very person that years ago abused me SEXUALLY with 5 more of his friends ANALLY. By the way I was 15 years old at the time!! His name is Josue and he works as an instructor for this company. I did talk to the managers and they did nothing about it, they gave me the excuse that all their instructors are finger printed and pass a background check; well, let me ask a question: How many women actually are raped on a daily basis and they actually report to the police? Well here is the truth: according to the RAINN (rape abuse and incest national network) 68% of them ARE NEVER REPORTED, either for FEAR, SHAME or THREATS. I was victim of the 3 of them thanks to Mr. Josue and his 5 friends!! You can inquire about this in the Wesley Chapel High School ( I was studying there) where a internal case was open because let me tell you something, Josue and his friends EVEN TOOK PICTURES and videos about this!! SO, if you have kids or a teenager daughter I am not sure if you are gonna enjoy the ride every time you are dropping her there for her swimming lessons. read more

My 6-month old Mason, and my wife and I have had such a spectacular time so far in our few short months at Watermelon Swim - Lutz. He has learned so much about swimming already and is so much more comfortable in the water than he used to be. His instructor Miss Caitlyn is wonderful, she really takes the time to get to know all of her water babies, and her bubbly personality is a delight! She is incredibly patient and informative with the kids and elevates the class so much. We started with the Water Babies class and have now moved up to the Parent-Tot 1 class, and it gives me so much peace of mind knowing that Mason is learning techniques that could one day save his life, God forbid. Absolutely thrilled with the results we've gotten from Watermelon Swim! our kids (5 and 3) have loved working with Ms. Rowan, Ms. Hailey and Ms. Keeley. All three do such a good job communicating to parents the post-class breakdown of what they saw, what they're working on, and what the next steps are. Our daughter especially looks up to them and imitates them in our pool at home when she plays "swimming lessons". It's nice for her to have some early-life role models, and we see her filling them in on her week every time she sees them. Our 7month old daughter starting swimming here at about 3 months old and we were fortunate enough to get Ms Brittney for the water babies instructor and then we kept her for the mom and tot class as well. Ms Brittney is an amazing swim instructor she is super friendly/knowledgeable and truly enjoys what she does she knows all the babies by name. I absolutely love everything about this program. My 2yr old was struggling at first and would just cry and fear the water. The staff is extremely patient and comforting to the kids. I highly recommend the Parent Tot 1 class at the Lutz location. Our son started swim class at 9mths old. Coach Kaitlyn has an amazing work ethic and the best approach to teaching little ones water safety and swim techniques. There's the perfect amount of repetition so that the students get it.
