I read some of the poor reviews on yelp but not before I visited this establishment. I am, however, thankful for that because my experience was quite the opposite and if I read the poor reviews before I visited the store I may not have visited. My son just joined the local civil air patrol squadron and needed some patches sewn on his BDUs. Like I do so often, I waited to the last minute and needed it the next day. They informed me that they are a week out on alterations but might be able to get it done sooner. I had my wife bring the jacket and the patches to the store because the event was postponed therefore we had the time to wait. Again she told my wife it would be about a week and two days later we got a phone call saying that it was ready. I feel they went above and beyond to accommodate us and I will definitely be back for more alterations. Horrible and never again! I took seven shirts, a suit and a pair of pants in to be dry cleaned and two weeks later, the shirts still were not ready. Unacceptable! So after talking with an incredibly rude employee - Nicki - twice on the phone, I went in person today. Nicki stated that she was the only one there both times I had spoken with her and that she didn't know if the shirts were ready. So I looked through racks of clothes to find the shirts, myself! I cannot stress to you how rude, mean and just plain dismissive Nicki was this morning as well as every other time that I have been to this location. While I was there, a gentleman came in and shared with me that this was the second time this location had lost one of his shirts, and he didn't know why he kept coming back! I was a loyal customer of this dry cleaner for several years, but my last experience was extremely disappointing. When I picked up my suit, it was returned without a protective plastic bag and had wrinkles throughout the garment; completely unacceptable for professional dry cleaning. I reached out twice to address the issue - once by email and once with a written letter, but never received any response or acknowledgment. First off, workers here act like you're bothering them. Not friendly at all. This was the second time I've been there, just because it's the closest. I took a Ralph Lauren suit there to get it cleaned after I wore it to a wedding. I only wear this suit for weddings and funerals so it is like new - or it was before I dropped it off there for cleaning. After it was cleaned, I picked it up and brought it home. When I was removing it from their hangars to put on my suit hangar, I readily saw that there was a tear or cut on the pleat of the pants. I took them back to show them and the woman at the register took my name and number for Theresa to call me. When she called a couple of days later, she asked why I didn't leave the pants. Because no one asked me to! Theresa asked me to bring the pants back in for her to look at. I did. She said she'd check with the plant where they send out dry cleaning to see if there is anything that could have happened there. Of course, no one accepted responsibility for damaging my pants. Theresa offered that their seamstress could repair them, but said the repair would be visible. It is. Honestly, it looks worse than before the seamstress repaired them. Terrible things happen in businesses all the time and a facility fire is a big one (July 2025). Especially when it concerns the belongings of hundreds of customers who are looking to get their item located and returned in a timely manner. In this crisis situation you would think a 8 unit business would have a formal complaint department with procedures for customers and staff to follow. THERE IS NONE. I have been trying to recuperate a lost $375 item since August 2025. I have patiently stopped in every week to see if the shirt they said exists has been sent to the store. Water's website has no contact form to send, no email to address for ANY inquiries let alone complaints. No contact information for complaints of any kind. The only information is the phone numbers for each location. The attendants at these sites do not have any authority and promise to send complaint inquiry to the proper person? Today I was informed that a "manager" is now in charge of sending checks. Again, no information as to when these checks will arrive or how customers will be contacted. The attendant had a pile of hand written notes of customer names and numbers strewn everywhere. REFUNDS - There is no posted refund policy on website or receipt. (refund based 10 times the dry cleaning cost of the item lost - not the value of the garment). No one has taken any proper information about my item, it's value, just $9 x 10 cost of what they would have charged me to clean the item. The arrogance demonstrated is breathtaking and irresponsible. FYI the one lone person left to handle "complaints" is no longer with the company. This is telling. Better Business Bureau. read more

I do not recommend this business at all. I placed 1 shirt and 4 plain square napkins for pressing. They were incredibly wrinkled and appeared not to have been touched. Their website was incorrect on Saturday hours with only a handwritten sign on the door stating they closed at noon, effective immediately. This meant I had to schedule another trip to their facility. When I showed the clerk the terrible condition and asked for a refund, she refused and only offered to "send it back". If this business couldn't manage to press plain, flat napkins why would anyone think a second attempt would be better? I was then told " the owner, Mr. Higgins" would get back to me. Expensive dress ruined. As soon as I saw the damage I knew they wouldn't take responsibility. Sadly, I've seen them argue with other customers over damage before. This dress has been dry cleaned in 4 different states and I never had an issue. What's worse is they didn't say anything when I picked it up and they charged me for it. After I discovered the damage and took it to them the manager was very defensive and even questioned if they had damaged it. They make you sign a liability form which mean they are not responsible for ruining your items. Can you imagine running a business and having customers sign forms that if you ruin their property you don't have to take responsibility? Absolutely the worse dry cleaners / alterations I've ever encountered. They did not take out a coffee spill from a woolen dressing gown (a stain which every other dry cleaners I've ever used has easily removed - and which came out when I took it to another cleaners), plus their alterations person is BAD, to put it mildly. I took in a skirt which needed new waist elastic --the first time they made it so small and tight it would only have fit a skinny 10-yr.old / took it back -- this time they made it so large (no waist elastic give at all) it would fit someone weighing 250 lbs. First off, we have a second home in spring island and stayed the week. We needed some shirts dry cleaned for my boyfriend who needed a couple shirts cleaned for a board meeting the following week. Would have taken to regular cleaners in Charlotte but since we would not return late until Sunday night, we brought them with us. Big mistake. Do not go. Brought a white button down to have cleaned and folded. Had a couple wine stains on the front, other than that, there was nothing else. Returned to us boxed and folded as requested to find green die stains on the collar, which I KNOW was not there when I dropped off. The wine stains were not removed even with their pre-spot treatment. This shirt has had numerous other wine stains in the past which other cleaners have been able to remove. So, in other words, shirt cannot be worn since it now has more stains on it then it did before and now have to have it dry cleaned again. They are disorganized. Couldn't find all shirts, had to have multiple people look for our items on both occasions (was told everything would be ready for pick up on a Thursday. Returned on Thursday to pick up to tell us some items were not ready until after 3pm that day., which I was not told when dropped off. One of my friends was a regular here, taking clothes and never complained, even though she would sometimes wait a week and a half to get a simple outfit back. In February she took her husbands suit and a few other shirts, she was told to pick them up within three- four days and so she went. When she arrived they told her that her suit was not at the facility yet, it was sent to the wrong place and even though she did not leave with her husbands suit, they charged her for the cleaning of it! they tell her to come back, and so she did ( that's already two trips there from hardeeville) she arrives to find out that it is not there and one of the girls told her they still have not received it. They made her drive all that way when a simple call would have saved time and gas! she drove there at least 4 times.... she calls them and one of the workers tells her she will have her manager give her a call, two weeks later still no call... she calls again and asks for the manager and the girl tells her the same thing, needless to say after A LOT of calling and no returned calls she writes an email, Finally the manger reaches out to her, tells her, shes been busy and unfortunately there is nothing they can do due to covid they cant get in. Now, to blame it on a pandemic is kinda not OK, you should do your job in the first place and try and get their suit back, it was not a cheap suit! and all of this happened BEFORE the pandemic( so no excuse) Even though now she says its valued at $168.00 for the jacket and $140 for the pants, they purchased it new. they have only serviced it there twice and if the manager says its worn and not at its Value then lets be realistic, you're not doing your job of keeping it nice and spiffy. My friends are clean and organized people, and for ANYONE to take an item of theirs to a dry cleaner, means that they value their pieces, and they trust you. however, they get a phone call, and the manager tells her she can give them $18 back or $20 store credit.... ummm what !!?? You did not even offer to refund for: 1. the money for cleaning something you lost! 2. waste of gas 3. Waste of TIME, this place seems to be a joke, look at all of those bad reviews, everyone has something awful to say, no one is blaming The OWNER just the management. the only helpful person was a woman at the front who called her back. they offered to work with them offering nothing, don't you get it? its not the money, it is the fact that you belittled people and made them waste all of this time and you did not even attempt to make matters right in a way that would be helpful. an apology would have been greatly appreciated i am sure, but they did not even get that. They have a friend who went there and you ruined her comforter. You wasted no time in offering her to pay for a NEW one! i am sure that comforter was older than this suit. Do the right thing! This is not the first time this happens, one day on her way out of this facility, the girls had to chase her down because they had let her walk out with someone elses clothing!! my friend got to her car and realized three of the shirts were not hers, and as she was turning around the girls in full panic yelled that's not your clothes come back! she was embarrassed people were watching her thinking she stole the clothes, when all of this could have been avoided if YOU PAID ATTENTION!! and if you decently talked, not yelled across a parking lot! After scrambling and rushing over to Waters Dry Cleaning and Alterations, we were relieved that we made it before they closed with 5 min to spare. It is a Saturday so they close at 3pm and are not open Sundays. My husband needed his military uniform cleaned by Tuesday so it was imperative he get it out today. We just moved to Bluffton from the West coast, literally today, so we couldn't come any earlier. We ran to the door only to find it locked. We lightly knocked to get the attention of the woman behind the counter who barely looked up to scream, "We're closed!" I tried to plead and tell her there was still 5 min before they were supposed to close. She pretended not to hear and refused to look up. Due to convenient location and wanting to just get 3 pants dry cleaned I went to this dry cleaner. The person there literally look miserable and presents like she is being bothered. I was asked if I had been there before and I responded no. You'd think a customer service driven person would be friendly and engage in some conversation. She identified the 3 pants and entered my info for the pick up ticket. My goodness. She didn't say when my clothes would be ready or ask when I needed them. I asked when they would be ready and was told in 3 days. I showed up to pick up my items and the cost was more than $24. It's $8+ per pants. I know it's been a while since I've had to dry clean any clothing but this place is a total rip off. Lesson learned ... when customer service is non-existent them people are only seen as $$$ and not of any other interest. I discovered in of my pants had a hole on the front thigh and it was a Ralph Lauren item. It was donated to the local thrift store. I asked what he was going to do for me and he responded"Nothing". I informed him that I was going to dispute the charge with my credit card company. His response was that his lawyer will contact me. Stay away from this one! Response to Shelah: My instructions were to clean the the comforter. I did not request that it be laundered. That I could have done myself. At home I am spoiled and my dry cleaner fixes and repairs broken buttons; these guys broke a ton and do not take responsibility for them. Had my dress altered by Sarah for the marine ball. It was too big to begin with, but Sarah claimed she could take in the beaded bodice without ruining the dress. I picked it up a week before the ball and noticed the zipper no longer worked that well even when the dress was not on me, but was assured that it would zip properly if I held the zipper and dress in a certain way. Last night was the ball and my boyfriend and I spent an hour trying to zip my dress that was still too big because she did not take it in properly. We could not even zip or unzip it when it wasn't on me. My boyfriend ended up cutting his finger open because it was so difficult to zip up. We finally got it but we were a half hour late. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! My item that I needed cleaned was 3 days late for which i needed to call to check up on. They never called me to let me know it was running late. I had to call several times to check up on my item. I was told it was not fully cleaned and needed to be sent back to wherever they get the items cleaned to be fully cleaned. Which is understandable but I would have just appreciated a phone call letting me know vs me calling to track them and my dress down. Theresa were rude when dropping off my item and at pick up throwing around her attitude around for no unprompted reason and when I brought up that it was a few days late Teresa responded with "Well you wanted it clean didnt you?" Very sassy and unprofessional attitude and she explained it would be $80 I responded with the ticket said $75 she responded again very sassy "Thats tax honey"... For which I was done dealing with her sassy attitude and rude tone and just wanted my dress .She then realized she messed up and was asking me about my life for which I never responded because at that moment in time It wasnt worth it. However it is worth telling everyone in town about this rude experience and I know a lot of people and have a lot of family in this town and you my dear alone HAVE LOST A TON OF BUISNESS.
