Stopped here in cross country trip about 6pm on deer opening weekend. Saturday nights specials were Beer-battered Walleye and 15oz Ribeye. Got the specials which came with 1 trip to salad bar (with lettuce and fixing as well as Pea Salad, Broccoli Salad, Cucumber and Onion Salad, Tortellini Salad, Potato Salad, Fish and Ribeye (med rate) were cooked perfectly. The Ribeye was a thinner cut, very good. Our server was friendly and checked in frequently. Will come again when we pass through. read more

Staying in an AirBnB directly across the street from here, so me and the old lady stopped in last night for dinner. Local spot. Heavy local influence. Cool spot, right on the lake. The bar and the patio had the most traffic last night. Service was quick and attentive. We had the mini tacos and fish bites for an appetizer. Pass on the mini tacos and try the fish bites, they were decent. I had the Chicken Monterey Sandwich...crispy. Decent sandwich...actually tasted better than it looked. Would recommend if struggling to find something that sounds good. Tater tots were ok. The old lady had a steak sandwich with cheese. It was a grilled steak. They cooked it decently. She ate every bite of it. She had fries with it. They were meh. Beer was cold. Service was fast. Food was ok. read more

When traveling to the lake Minnewaska area, we always find ourselves at the waters edge restaurant. They have great food along with a great salad bar our group of 14 people were all very satisfied with the service, meals and the staff. Our waitress Briggs is top shelf. Briggs our waitress was very entertaining with a great personality. We all enjoyed her very much. The waters edge also has great views of the Lake while you're eating and of course, having a few cocktails. Would highly recommend the waters edge restaurant for your next meal if you're in the area. read more

The Waters Edge is our new go to burger joint. The ownership has changed and the quality of food has too .It has improved greatly. Where can you get a HUGE burger AND a trip to a loaded salad bar for only $13.00-14.00! Plus a great full bar, where the pours are very generous. No ''Twin Cities prices here! The atmosphere is a little dated, but the beautiful view makes up for it all. Also, The Waters Edge is one of the few places to have a dock to pull up to, and anchor your ''yacht"..ok fishing boat. The Saturday night special, is prime rib.I normally order it rare, but chose to go with med.rare.The cut of meat was like velvet,and the flavor was outstanding. 3 of us ate like kings and our bill was only $61.00 It is a great spot for a casual dinner,with top notch food! read more

The last few times I've been here the food has been over cooked. Fried Walleye was a dry plank, fried chicken was dry as a bone and last night the chopped steak was inedible. One pork chop was good, the other was on the grill way too long. The dogs liked it. Salad bar was good. Service was good until until the food came , then we couldn't get anyone's attention to complain. When we did, we found out our friend had already paid the bill. We expressly requested the bill at seating, but were ignored. Won't be back. read more

We will not eat here again. Arrived at 5:30 pm. We not so much as sat down with our salads from the salad bar and our steaks came out. They were cold. We had ordered the special and apparently they were making them ahead of time. The silverware looks to be from 1960. The knives were dull. The steaks knives didn't even cut bread. We were rushed through the entire meal. Dining out is supposed to be an experience in enjoyment of fellowship and food. The main entre' order is never to be put in to the cook until the table is almost done with their salads. This is not the place to enjoy an experience but to be rushed through like cattle. The manager was roaming around looking like a beach bum. He was one of the idiots who brought out our cold steaks. The place has gone from an 8 out of 10 to a 0 out of 10. read more

My husband and I stopped in at the Waters Edge on Saturday Aug.10th around noon we were planning on having some lunch and some hot coffee. We were on the motorcycle and had just rode through some pretty hard rain. We went in cold and wet. We sat at the bar for over 10 minutes where 5 employees numerously walked by and looked at us. Not once did anyone ask us if we needed anything. There were only 3 tables being occupied while we were there so they really were not that busy. Two of the girls stood at the waitress station talking. One of the ladies was more interested in getting the pull tab boxes ready. Two other ladies kept walking around and talking. I cannot really tell you how the service was, because there was none. We were very disappointed in stopping here. We did because it was part of our Apols bandana run. We just may skip it next year. read more

Obviously, the other reviews were written by drunks; albeit self absorbed ones. Myself, I love the Edge. Here is why: 1). You enter, find a nice table or booth with lake-view (they all have a lake view), and sit down. 2). You are greeted by a friendly local who gets your drink order and gives you a menu. 3). You receive your drinks (well mixed and reasonably priced mind you) and then enter your order. 4). After your order is given you proceed to the salad bar. 5). Salad bar is awesome, well maintained, excellent flavor, seasonal items too. 6). After salad is devoured, maybe you try a little more of a favorite or two, your second drink order is taken while your main course arrives. Water is refilled, pitcher left if need, sodas filled if so desired. 7). Second round of drinks arrive, while server checks to make sure your meal is superb and that all you need or want is at hand. 8). Server checks on you again to see if there is anything else you might wish.... if no, the check is given. * * * You never have to wait for food, for drink, or want for anything. * * * * * * Food is consistently superb. They run a variety of specials each evening for dinner. * * * Burgers are always good. Chicken wings are good & plentiful. Shrimp is also good. Hash-browns are also a favorite, and baked potato for those who desire. This is not an Italian restaurant, it is not sushi, not Chinese, nor Mexican... it is American, lake side, dinning. It is reasonably price, superior service, well prepared, plentiful, clean, hot and tasty. If you are seeking Italian, Chinese, Sushi, Mexican, or some sort of French nonsense... well this isn't that place. Thank God. This is a formula that works, they've done it for years to get it just right. While I love Italian, Chinese, Sushi, Mexican, and some French foods... this is the best American fare in my book. This restaurant provided a great experience with an amazing view of lake Minnewaska. The food was wonderful and not too expensive. It's a great place for a group to come and eat or watch the big game. There was a little wait for seating but it was all worth it. Came in at 4:55 on a Thursday. The eight people at the bar were well attended by 2-3 bartenders, but they never came to say anything to us, bring us menus, or even acknowledge our existence. I really enjoyed bring my relatives from the Twin Cities to this restaurant. The place was hopping, and apparently Saturday's special prime rib is delicious, because they were sold out. The fare is pretty simple, but with plenty of options to customize your order. Three in our party had Edge burgers and found the side of Irish potatoes positively delicious. Even our fussbudget was satisfied with her chicken sandwich and tater tots. Our waitress was a long-time employee with a quick wit and even speedier service. She kept our drinks full and our dirty plates bussed. And the salad bar - now that's a pretty good salad bar. Nothing fancy, but the solid basics are there along with a soup offering and a variety of cold salad concoctions that keep it interesting. The best part of Water's Edge is right there in the name. The view of Lake Minnewaska is stunning, especially at sunset. You won't regret eating there, I promise. read more
