Worth the visit. Outstanding views of the Baltimore Inner Harbor and very, very good food. Service was good and friendly. The only item I didn't like is the ambiance. It looks like a ballroom, or just another part of the Renaissance Hotel that was made into an ad-hoc restaurant. With some decorations, foliage, dividers, etc., it could be a really romantic place instead of a warehouse lookalike. My BF and I went there at 7:30 PM and had reservations. We were immediately seated and attended by a nice waitress who exuded friendliness. After some champagne, we shared the crab-cake appetizer, outstanding! Then it was time for the salad, a wonderful fresh house salad with feta cheese. We both had the rockfish, delicately flavored and cooked just right. We washed it down with a bottle of Pinot Noir. Overall an excellent place for dinner. My only constructive critic is the decor. Needs a little TLC to make it different from a hotel ballroom. read more

I got lost trying to find this place but it turned out to be inside the Renaissance Hotels on the 5th floor... which overlooked the fancy pants mall that they built across the street from Inner Harbor. It was such a quiet and romantic place with low lighting. The bar was lit nicely and they had pretty decorated Christmas trees up. The windows overlooked Inner Harbor. The Harborplace Crab Chowder was served over the artisan bread bowl and it was so tasty! The only problem is the skin of bread bowl was so tough and chewy. I found myself in the Gallery Place beyond hungry, but I didn't want fast food, nor was I in the mood for the other restaurants in the Inner Harbor. The Watertable was suggested to me. I had on jogging pants and a jacket, but the host made me feel so welcomed. I was promptly seated by the window, and a server, Linda, came immediately. There wasn't many vegetarian items on the menu, and I refused to pay $19 for penne, so I ordered butternut squash risotto and creamed spinach. Of course, I ordered a Malbec ;) My risotto was delicious, but the creamed spinach literally floated in the cream. It tasted ok, but the swimming spinach was not my thing. It was like someone has watery cheese sauce, and dumped cooked spinach in it. Next time, I am going for the collards. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, and the view was beautiful. My sever, Linda, was so sweet! She was very knowledgeable about the menu items, and her warm personality would make me return (seriously). First off, I want to start off by saying that this review is based on late night drinks and bites when were staying at the Renaissance Hotel (the Watertable is located on the 5th floor of the hotel and serves as the hotel bar/grill). We had an early dinner at The Brewer's Art (which was amazing I might add), but after going out for some cocktails and being up late, when we arrived back here we decided we wanted to have one last drink and maybe an app if they are open still They had a nice wine selection (which makes me happy), and some quality scotch and whiskey which made the husband happy as well. We ordered a round of drinks as we had heard from the one gentleman in the hallway that they would be closed at 12:30. We did not think we would be able to get anything to eat. Upon speaking with the bartender who could not have been more friendly and helpful, he had said that they would be open until at least 1am since they were busy. He said he had the option to stay open later if that was what he had wanted to do. Needless to say, we were able to order the mussels and the calamari and still have another beverage. The food was awesome... loved both the mussels and the calamari! I would definitely order them both again. At 1:30am, we went up to our room and they were still busy... this guy was doing what was right for the customers, and not right for his social calendar for a Saturday night. He clearly understands the service industry. Top notch service and food here makes me think we will be back when we stay at the Renaissance again. read more

I was treated to mothers day brunch by my wonderful husband here. Let me start off by saying the view of the inner harbor is gorgeous! Im trying to remember the decor but all I can think off is the beautiful views of this all glass enclosed restaurant. My family and I came here for the mothers day brunch buffet, there were so many delicious foods to choose from and no one was left out. You had land and sea stations (fresh seafood, baked chicken and pot roast),traditional breakfast items; waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage and crepes. Vegetarian items: salads steamed veggies fresh fruits and breads. I loved the fact that the kids had their section as well. Mini sliders, gold fish crackers ( I was eating them more than my son) French fries and pizza. I don't know about your kids but that's heaven on earth for my Lil ones. Service was excellent, our server was there to meet our needs without hesitation, the food stations servers had the best attitude as well, I really appreciate that our reservation was towards the end of the brunch but the food was still hot and fresh and no one was treated as if we were an annoyance, you that "don't you see we are closing soon" attitude. I will definitely come back for dinner, I would love have the type of service we had plus the excellent food and the gorgeous view as the back drop to a wonderful with evening my hubby or even friends and family. read more

Crab cakes were wonderful! Steak overcooked and some food wasn't served hot. Unimpressed with service, the staff seemed stressed and irritated with customer requests and each other. Did not clear used dishes off table... Poor communication within the staff. Definitely not impressed when the bill came. This place needs to get it together AND drastically lower their prices to match the quality (or lack thereof) of what they are presenting to the public. On a good note--the bartender, Michelle--was EXCELLENT and attentive. And that delicious orange-berry vodka she served on the rocks? WONDERFUL, best part of the night (New Years) minus the "free" champagne and fireworks. Managers--I would do some serious training with your wait staff!! read more

We joined another couple for cocktails at the water table. It is a nice sized bar inside the Renaissance Inner Harbor. The staff is gracious, like hotel bar staff should be. Drinks are strong, delivered quickly and accurately. There is a small container of bar snacks available upon request. You can raid the (individually wrapped) candy bowl on your way back to your room. Oh, by the way, if you want to take your cocktail back to your room, you are perfectly welcome to do so. I'd love to return to Watertable for cocktails on my next visit to Renaissance Inner Harbor. The views of the harbor were beautiful. The restaurant had beautiful decor and great service. I ate here with a co-worker my first night in Baltimore. After the long flight from California, we were hungry for some seafood. The service was friendly and the menu had a decent selection. We ordered the calamari appetizer that was fantastic. Great presentation, lots of flavor. For the entree, we had the crab cakes. I was expecting more. It wasn't as meaty as other places I'd been, and it was on the bland side. The seafood seasoning fixed that though. The sides that came with the dish weren't as satisfactory, but the main dish was filling enough. We had drinks at their bar the next evening. The bartendars were so so. One was very friendly, the others were edgy and abrupt. But they're generous with the alcohol and the ambience was nice. Since it's a hotel, the crowd was pretty mixed, but friendly in general. read more

The lounge area doesn't have too much of a seating area. The wine is decent. It's a great bar if you're staying at the hotel and don't want to leave. But I wouldn't come here just to come. read more

I came here after lunch hours so this is a review for the lounge/light fare. My parents and I were seated by the window for a lovely view of Inner Harbor. We ordered the calamari, mussels, clam chowder, crab sliders, beef sliders, and crab cake BLT. The mussels were the best-received, but my dad got two rotten pieces. There was also a very strong odor, perhaps from the rotten mussels. The clam chowder wasn't terrible, but too salty. We had to eat the chowder with generous chunks of bread. The calamari, sliders, and BLT were all very generic and not impressive. Service was great, but I expected no less since we were the only customers at the time. Watertable may flaunt a nice view, but the food doesn't make it worth it. read more

Watertable has the worst service I've ever seen. My server could not answer any of my questions and when I asked the manager he said the steak sauce they use was "yummy" My server took 1 hour and 15 minutes to bring out our food and that's only because she took over 30 to even ring the food in. She came up to me 30 minutes after I ordered and asked again how I wanted my steak cooked. When the food finally came out it was delicious. We had to ask the manager for our checks because the server never came back. I hope they change management in the future and get more trained servers. The view and food was amazing but not good enough to pick up the slack of the horrible service. read more

While staying in the Renaissance, we went to this restaurant for breakfast as this is also the hotel's breakfast spot. First thing, walking to our seat another patron whispers to us, don't eat the buffet because the food is cold. It's 8:10 in the morning. We don't particular like buffets anyway, so asked for menu. The server tells us it's buffet only today. We are surprised because the hotel offers hot breakfast. We ask for the manager, who could not explain the buffet only policy any better than the server. It was not on the menu nor written anywhere. Apparently, the manager decides based on the catering jobs they have for the day. Did I mention there 4 people in the entire restaurant? Tacky and unprofessional, we moved to Marriott Waterway. read more

This is a review of the bar. We went here for some latish drinks after going out in the Federal Hill area. Not the best. We spent over $30 for 3 drinks!! The hubby got a bloody mary that was spicy and decent, and I got a cocktail that was supposed to be a twist on a classic cosmopolitan. I forgot the fruit it was supposed to taste like - it just tasted like a normal cosmopolitan to me. It was OK. Then we split a beer so we could stay a little longer to watch the end of Olympic coverage. All was fine but it was waaay too expensive for what it was. I'm also not too big a fan of the atmosphere - it was darkish in there and the space was very large and it didn't have much personality or ambiance. It looked like a normal, ugly-carpeted space for conventions to be held that wasn't being used so they put a restaurant in there. The bar was also strangely sparse - big empty gaps where the bottles were supposed to be lined! It was just kind of blah. Between the atmosphere and the prices I definitely wouldn't go here again. read more

Been for brunch buffet twice and never let down. They have a juicer machine with recipes for healthy squeezes, including the mint, the ginger, the fruits and the vegggies. Smoothies are offered on the buffet as well as gourmet cheeses and jams. Hot selections are very good with healthy version along side (e.g. turkey sausage). Hard boiled eggs, many cereals for the kids. Totally a great price for what you get. $19.95 for adults (over 12) and a tier for the I think 5-12 age group. Includes OJ and Coffee. Not very impressed. We began with a half dozen oysters, two of which we left untouched because there was still bits of sand and shell on the meat. The others we ate mostly because we love oysters and paid for these...they were fine, not great, but cleanliness here is the biggest concern. I enjoyed my lamb, but it didn't fill me up as a $32 dish should. This is coming from someone who usually takes home leftovers. The boy's scallops, which I tasted, were pretty tasty -- but apparently every few bites were also sandy! Service was friendly but a little frazzled. A different person had filled up out water glasses, and our waitress, to my confusion, asked if those glasses of water were ours. To her credit, she did check in with us on how each dish was, but the question just made me wonder what the alternative would be. If you're staying at the hotel and looking for convenient dining options, I recommend getting room service instead. It's actually quite decent; I enjoyed the half chicken enough to order it twice on separate visits. read more

Located in the Renaissance Hotel in the Inner Harbor, Watertable offers spectacular views of the waterfront within walking distance of the National Aquarium and several other hotels. Our party of 7 stopped in for a late-ish dinner and were able to be seated right away since the restaurant was nearly empty. Our waitress was quick to accommodate us when we wanted to switch tables and was able to answer various questions we had about the menu. We had asked for a cocktail menu, but was told that they don't have one (weird because there's a sizable bar located on the other side of the restaurant) and was told that we could order what we wanted and that the bartender would make it for us. The mixed drinks were on the weaker side, but they were generous with their wine pours and offered chilled glasses to go with the beer. Two large pre-sliced loaves of bread were brought out for the table, but were mediocre and on the drier side. Between the 7 of us, we sampled the asparagus salad, harborplace salad, crab chowder, heirloom tomato soup (soup of the day), rockfish, swordfish, and the crab cakes. Standouts were the crab chowder (touted as award-winning and it showed), rockfish, and the swordfish. The crab cakes were dry and devoid of flavor and the salads were just ok, nothing special. Service was attentive, but expected to be since the restaurant was empty the whole time we were there. Probably wouldn't go back since there are better options in the area, but a-ok in a pinch. read more

I have been for breakfast at "busy" times and not busy times. The service is EXCEPTIONAL. Right when I sit down I am waited on and coffee&oj is on my table in seconds. Timothy is a waiter here and he is AMAZING. The man deserves a raise or something because he is the reason I come back. He remembers my name, remembers my story and is genuinely interested in my well being. I am from Raleigh NC so I am used to "southern hospitality" and this place is the best! This restaurant is located downtown Baltimore in the Renaissance Hotel, the view from the restaurant of the harbor was spectacular. We started the evening with a couple of appetizers, which were good. For my main course, I ordered the steak, which came potatoes and carrots. Once I received my dinner, the plate well put together. I tried my steak first which was NOT even HOT or close to being warm. Out of disbelieve I tried another piece, still the same. My potatoes and carrots were the same temperature. The view of Inner Harbor is spectacular and the only reason I'd go back here. Conveniently located in the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel. We had the breakfast buffet on a Monday morning and were disappointed the omelet station we saw the morning prior was gone (must be weekends only), but the price remained the same. Actually it was $5.00 higher than the price I had seen the buffet listed. The scrambled eggs weren't even luke warm; they were room temperature. The rest of the food was good, and the juice station was unique and interesting. Where they lost it for us was the poor service and unhygienic procedures. The table was dirty when we were seated, so the hostess called a bus staff girl over to wipe it down. She had the worst attitude and looked like she hated her job. Then she brought out silverware and water glasses for us, and put her fingers all over the spoon and fork and knife tips (rather than use the handles), and CARRIED THE WATER GLASSES WITH HER FINGERS INSIDE THE GLASSES. A Golden Corrale waitress wouldn't shock me by doing this, but this 4-star hotel should know WAY better. Also, our waitress was no where to be found once we told her we wanted the buffet. Our water glasses remained empty the rest of our meal. Only the view is worth it here. read more

Well, I probably should have gotten up and left when there was a very soiled napkin at the table and an insect in my water, but things do happen. To celebrate a birthday, my party of six came to the Watertable for the ambience of the Watertable. Its view of downtown Baltimore, overlooking the harbor is absolutely breathtaking. Service was pleasant as our server Chloe was ok, but busy with other tables. She may have been the only server working, so we'll give her that as far as attentiveness is concerned. Now let's get to dinner. Unfortunately, our appetizer was late coming out, so our entrees of course were delayed and cold when they eventually came to the table. We asked our server to make sure that our food didn't come out cold, but unfortunately it was cold. To address the matter, we asked for the manager, who identified herself as Brittany. We, of course, didn't pay for the entrees that weren't consumed, but Brittney offered no consolation, no relief, no please come back and dessert is on us. When something goes array, the manager should be on hand to make the customer feels at ease. Thing happen, but they can be fixed. Not at the Watertable. I wanted so desperately to love this place, but I will not be returning. Hopefully, they will use this experience to better their customer service. read more

I can only comment on breakfast since that is the only meal we had here while we stayed in the Renaissance hotel. The food was decent but the morning staff is struggling. Our waiter had a difficult time understanding our order which was off the menu - no substitutions at all. My youngest ordered a scrambled egg and pancakes. The egg arrived but we had to ask twice for the pancakes which took another 15 minutes to get out to the table. The rest of our food also took quite a while to be prepared. I had the eggs benedict which was good and my middle child had the Light Start breakfast which she enjoyed. The second morning the girls ordered hot chocolate. The waiter brought two mugs of hot water and proceeded to open two packets of Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix at the table and make a mess on the table trying to get it into the mugs. I have nothing against mixes at all, it's what we use at home, but at $4 a mug for a "nice" hotel it seems excessive or at the very least, mix it up before you bring it to the table to keep the allure of $4 hot chocolate. My youngest asked for whipped cream and he handed her the cream I was using for my coffee. A bit more training is needed? read more

Watertable is the beautiful bar/restaurant located on the fifth floor of the beautiful Renaissance hotel. The view of the harbor is fantastic, and the whole place is comfortable and relaxing. Their buffets are tasty but limited, and the drink prices are absolutely outrageous. I suppose this place is designed for anyone trapped in the hotel for conventions or whatnot, except that you're in the middle of Baltimore, so you're not. read more

All are perfectly seasoned especially the halibut. Not too greasy, not too salty. We had a bottle of Picket Fence '06, a Chardonnay. I feel this restaurant swindled us. We went for Valentine's Day 2009. There are only a few tables with the water view. The rest are set cafeteria style. Very unromantic. Waitstaff was unprofessional for this type of restaurant. At one point, I looked at my boyfriend and said, "I feel like we are in a training video for how not serve guests." Food was way overpriced. We spent $288 for a 5 course dinner. Our portions were teeny, tiny. One "course" was actually a slice of lunch meat. One "course" was a single ravioli. If I could give a minus star, I would. You might ask why the picture of the partially eaten side and a blank space on the table. That's for the pork dish that after an hour and a half has not yet shown up. The table that came in after us have all been served and left.
