The first time, we got a mattress and headboard set (plus drawers underneath) for my mom and she was very picky about her bed (but she was 90, so I indulged her). She was very satisfied. We have gone back for 2 of my three children and have been happy each time. My neighbor (who rented my mom's furnished apartment) wanted a bigger bed and she like my mom's bed so much, she went there and got the exact same one but in a queen. She loves it! I had bought a GoldBond mattress for it 7 years ago, so I knew I wanted another one. Watertown Mattress is less than 10 minutes from where I live, so I figured I should go here first. Do not let the warehouse-y exterior fool you, this place truly is a hidden gem. I've driven on the road it's on so many times and never noticed it. Mike, one of the owners, is absolutely wonderful. He greeted me right when I walked in, and after some chit chat then said "oh I know exactly what you're looking for, and we have it, AND for a great price!" Mike was right. I got a quad foam 8" GoldBond mattress for $200, which based on some research I had done, was roughly $70 cheaper than other local places. I wasn't sure if the mattress would fit in my small car, but Mike and one of his employees brought it over to my car and helped me put all the seats down and squeeze it in. All in all, I was in and out of the store in under 20 minutes and for less money than I expected. Amazing place to buy a mattress! Shop local! This place is not the fanciest store but don't let that fool you: they know their stuff. We bought a mattress here for $800 that was retailing $1300 at a big box store. Mike was so helpful in making sure we got the right one. And delivery for $45 plus tip? Doesn't get better than that! The hype is very real. I too was a skeptic of these reviews, wondering if there was some discount or something leading to all these glowing remarks. Not so: you just want to be an evangelist after getting a mattress from this place. I was likewise skeptical when Mike and Therone recommended a mattress very very different from the one we told them we had loved for the past eleven years. I sulked around trying mattresses, barely willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when after taking one look at us they said my husband and I would feel great on a firmer mattress with more edge support. I am SO glad we trusted them. They are mattress sherpa wizards. We are sleeping so well and missing some aches and pains we had before and had no idea were probably connected to our old mattress. I was referred to the store and after so many positive reviews online thought it was where I would purchase my mattress but I had a better experience elsewhere. They do not have prices on mattresses so if you prefer to shop independently that is not possible as at the very least you have to talk with the salesperson about price. Mike and Therone are the most awesome business owners ever. My husband and I went into Watertown Mattress looking for a nice futon for the guest bedroom. Mike helped us pick out one that we would really like. He basically asked us what exactly we were looking for and what expectations we had for the futon that we want. He didn't try to upsell or force us to buy anything that we didn't want or need. He showed me what choices we had and let me decide what type of futon I really wanted. You can really tell that Mike is an honest business owner. Since we were new to Boston (straight from San Francisco), he even gave us a laundry list of restaurants to try. He even had a long conversation about sports with my husband. Another way I could tell he was an honest business man-- he asked us if we were good at putting stuff together. I told him, I am and I have put together Ikea stuff before on my own. He told us to SKIP the delivery, take home the futon and assemble it ourselves. He said, that way, we are not spending unnecessary money for delivery and installation and that we can put that money towards buying new items for our new home. He gave us his card and said that we can call him anytime if we had trouble assembling the futon ourselves. We assembled it correctly (seemed easy enough) but we ran into the problem of how to use it. We have never owned a futon before so we didn't know how to change it from a couch to a bed and vice versa. I just couldn't get the moving components to work, so I went back the next day and met Therone, Mike's business partner. He showed me step by step how to operate our futon and was patient with me (I'm not that strong so a heavy futon was hard for me to move around on my own). He kept showing me until I learned how to operate the heavy futon on my own. It turns out, I was overthinking the process of operating a futon! Now, I have no problem operating it on my own. Regarding the futon we bought-- the quality is way better than Ikea's and compared to other stores, their prices are pretty competitive. Ours had a nice solid wood frame with faux suede/microfiber. The cushion was firm and we slept well on it. It feels really sturdy so I wouldn't worry about a heavy guest breaking it. Mike also told us that if anything ever breaks, to just call him and he will help us replace the broken part (provided that we did not abuse the poor futon). I would definitely recommend stopping by here first when you are shopping for futons or a new bed. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable and they understand that different people have different budgets. They are honest and will work with you so that you stay within budget. read more

I had literally called everywhere on Sunday looking for a box spring, and had found only one place that had one full size box spring in stock for $149. However, my boyfriend had a yellow pages (whoa, the past) and in it we found a listing for this place, which hadn't shown up on my internet searches. The box spring I bought at Watertown Mattress was $89 - much cheaper, and the lone salesman there had a huge selection to choose from. I was basically just blown away with how simple and pleasant our transaction was. It's a big warehouse with lots of windows and he had the whole front open so the space was fresh and bright. There was tons of stuff in stock, the prices were much better than anything I'd found anywhere else, and the guy was super friendly and helpful, even as he maneuvered around all the other customers. There's parking right there and when you're done you can pull up your car to the warehouse for easy access to twine. I would definitely, definitely recommend this place before going to any chains around Boston. read more

Bought a mattress here two months ago or so, and still very happy with it. My fiance and I had a few mattress places on our list. We also had a small budget. When we walked into Watertown Mattress, Mike greeted us. He was super nice, a little pushy and salesman-y, but not in a weird or aggressive way. He encouraged us to try out the mattresses for a while, as if they were our own. He also understood my fiance's neck/back problems and made suggestions accordingly. We ended up purchasing a queen size Simmons mattress without boxspring for what we felt was a fair price. We picked it up ourselves to avoid the delivery fee. He promised that if there was ever a problem with the mattress, he would take care of it. The only negative is the space--it's a basically a warehouse. I pulled into the parking lot and the exterior was very old... I almost didn't get out of my car but I googled it again and saw it had 5stars. Anyways I went in and their prices are amazing! And the delivery is only 45 dollars ( shocked face) thank goodness I came here I saved myself about $400 dollars ! One other nice this is...
