I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Waterview Hills. My father spent about 6 weeks here before his passing and I cannot express the level of excellence and caring my father received while there. Everyone from Admissions to Aides were attentive and caring towards my father. In his last days (as with every day he was there), he was made very comfortable and was well attended. The last 2 days (when I was there pretty much all the time) the staff not only checked on my father, but on me as well. I have never been one to like nursing homes, I've always felt that they could not take care of someone as well as family could, but I was pleasantly surprised and highly impressed by Waterview Hills. If you need to have a loved one receive this kind of care, you won't find a better, more skilled, and caring place to have your loved ones stay than Waterview Hills. read more

Long term nursing. Our mother has been in Waterview Hills for 5 months. She started in short term rehab but her condition soon warranted long term nursing care. I cannot imagine a nicer, more compassionate, or better place for her. She spent time in another nursing home 2 years ago and the difference is stark. The staff goes above and beyond, is truly caring, they all know her and the stories she loves to tell, and they always engage in conversation with her. Her face lights up when a staff member walks into the room and talks about one of the stories she has told them in the past. The staff clearly knows all the residents, their likes, dislikes, life stories etc. There are daily activities such as bingo, music, coloring, and holiday parties to not only include major holidays but also Valentine's day, Marci Gras, etc. The food smells and looks appetizing but the building never smells like institutional food. The residents are all clean and dressed in appropriate and matching outfits. While there are movie events, residents are not plopped in front of the tv and ignored. A staff member always engages with residents as needed during movie time. Movie time is not used as "baby sitting" as is sometimes done at other facilities. The residents watch and enjoy the movie and when it's over there are additional activities, meal times etc. The building is attractive and always beautifully decorated and immaculate. The lobby staff is always welcoming and helpful. The behind the scenes staff such as finance, social work, and administration are all kind, helpful, professional, and knowledgeable. While no one looks forward to needing to place a loved one in a nursing facility, I don't think it's possible to find a better facility than Waterview Hills. read more

Maybe this place gets all of its shining reviews from people who need a short stint at rehab but for anyone who needs additional services boy you're in the wrong place. Starting the front desk receptionist, who is a horrible unwelcoming women with a special disdain for your existence. Sadly my grandmother was unknowingly in the final stages of her life when she arrived here. When we were told we were running out of time the staff told our family we could come and say goodbye. The first day we had no issues, but the next day there was an "only 15 minutes a day / per person rule". Yet in the same breath we could "have as many people as we wanted"? We were more than happy with limiting our visits to just her daughters and for more time but was met with stark resistance. I more than understand the restrictions that are needed in place of COVID as I am at nurse in NYC but for a family who is imminently losing a loved one exceptions should be made. Instead of decreasing the number of people entering and exiting the facility they were rigid and uncompromising. Telling us to "save our time" so that when she was actually passing we would not be denied entrance for visiting too often. We were then told she could be moved to a window bed and we could open the window...hardly an option with winter temperatures. I will also add this talk was had ambush style in the front lobby as we all sobbed. The nurse director then added how difficult this was for her too...how dare you even say that. We easily decided that we would then do home hospice. The social worker (Amy? ) we were assigned was grossly incompetent. She was insistent that hospice wasn't "set up in a day" and that earliest she could even be evaluated was Monday..it was a Thursday. She then told us that we would have to find our own local doctor to assume care and to write orders for medications like morphine and Ativan. What doctor in their right mind is going to do that for a woman they have never met before?? We had to call hospice agencies ourselves and plead our case all while rushing against the clock. My grandmother passed at home, that Sunday with her family and a wonderful hospice agency in place. A day before hospice was even able to "evaluate" according to Amy. Glad we didn't take your word for it. Special thanks to assistant nurse director Angie for being horribly rude and making a difficult time even more unbearable. You are horrible my dear. read more

It has been a difficult time having my mother in a nursing home, especially during Covid. I have got to say that the staff involved with my Mom's care have gone above and beyond. I get to see Mom with window visits and while it's not the same as in person, her smile tells me she is happy. Bless all healthcare workers during this difficult time. read more

Staff lies about how much physical therapy is given on a daily basis and they don't set up phone calls via email prior to calling. It seems they don't ever put anything in writing on status and health care plan. We never received an overview packet on services offered and most of the services are not offered anymore with Covid. read more

Waterview Hills Review * Stained, crusty sheets * A used medical glove in the bottom drawer of the bureau. * The hospital bracelet from the former patient was still on the top of the bureau, in plain site. Clearly this area had been "straightened" but definitely not cleaned. This is how our saga began at Waterview Hills in Purdy's and this is how is continued until I got to management and pitched a fit for my mother. * It was clear by the pandemonium we encountered at arrival-yes; they were expecting us, the hospital called to say I was bringing my mother in, that this place was woefully understaffed. * Inedible food. The pancakes needed a knife. The hot cereal was cold. The meager slice of meat was 80% fat and gristle. o After complaining we were told that if Mom wanted to go downstairs to eat, e food was better. Or, in my words, residents are punished for staying in their rooms even though they pay the same. o After complaining, the director of food service came to complain to my mother! How could she complain about hard pancakes, fatty meat, etc ad infinitum. If her food is cold she can ask to have it heated up! Really? This is the responsibility of an elderly woman just out of the hospital? I thought it was the responsibility of the director of food service. In the Waterview Hills brochure, Fine Dining is listed first. Hardly. * It took 3 days from our initial request for a shower for my mother. o We were told residents receive a shower every 3 days. So, if you ask after they've done the round of showers, you are out of luck. Mom had been in the hospital for a week with IV's in both arms. She was looking forward to a shower. * We were sold a room with a shared bath for 2. When we arrived it was a shared bath for 4. o When my While this was remedied, it felt like bait and switch. * Mother told an aide the bathroom was out of toilet paper,the the aide told my mother it wasn't her job. * No hangers in closet o While this was remedied, they were expecting us. * No pillows on bed o While this was remedied, they were expecting us. Then we asked for 3, 45 days later, still only 2. Yes, it's a small complaint, but compounded with everything else? * No assistance upon arrival until I complained. o I brought my mother in. No one directed us. I was pointed to her room. There was no welcome packet. It was worse than a Motel 6. While Waterview "looks" pretty, landscaping, nice furniture and carpet, they are so understaffed it isn't funny. If you hate your parent then this is the place for them. read more

My mom was out there for Rehab April 2018. They worked with her however my Mom had several health issues and we all determined she would become a full time resident and we all worked towards this goal. She was moved from Rehab to a permanent room in the Canterbury wing. I can tell you that she was treated very well no matter where she was. She was always well kept and I never met an aid or nurse or any other staff member that wasn't caring to her and she loved them all. I found every one there to be loving and caring. The communication with any concerns to me was excellent. My mom took a turn for the worse and they called me right away. I went to be with her. I was there for nine hours until she passed. Everyone was very loving, respectful and compassionate. I was in awe of how kind and supportive they all were. I thank everyone of them. I can tell you that I have had experience with four other nursing homes in the area with my dad and my uncle. Waterview was far the best. read more
