I am scouting a park location for my next outdoor venue. This park didn't quite meet my criteria; however, there are still few pluses. As I was walking around, I noticed the poop stations along the trail. I know these are for those responsible dog owners to clean up after their Fido's. The trees are mostly evergreen, which means shades throughout the year. With the amount of vegetation here, it's actually an ideal location for portrait photography. I was also surprised to see the air ferns draping from the trees, just like Pele's Hair in Hawaii. It made me homesick. This is really a neighborhood park. I could see some tree seedlings on the south side of the park near the house fences. I figure it's because of springtime, grassy field was blooming. If you're allergic to pollen, stay home. I walked the entire trail, despite the already marked distance. I found part of trail missing. I had to get on the city sidewalk to complete the loop. Oh, there is not parking lot. So, park on the streets.

Much to my surprise, this "little" neighborhood park was well-kept, not busy, and much bigger than I expected! Not only is there a tennis court and backboard for tennis fans, there's a 1/3 mile running/jogging trail winding around the park, with a baseball field, playground, and plenty of shaded picnic areas and water fountains. What a well-kept secret! While we were there, only a handful of neighborhood folks were there, but the equipment is clean, the trail is fairly well-kept up, and it's a safe area to bring the kids. The only issue I have with this park is the SAFETY at the bathrooms. Why is men & women bathrooms right next to each other? There is no door to restroom entrances. Who designed this?!? Considering there are all ages on the field. Suspicious people wandering in front of women bathroom. There is security but they are too busy on the field watching games. I'm not quite sure if that's part of their job... I would not leave unsupervised children to go to bathroom. The children I was with reported suspicious behaviors with an unstable man roaming nearly going inside the women's restroom.

The pickleball courts are open play style: That is, they have a rack that you put your paddles in to be randomly assigned to the next game. If you want to play with your friends just put your four paddles together. Water and bathroom are located just outside the courts. It's a lovely community offering AND the courts are illuminated for night games. I stayed with some friends from 7-10PM on a Saturday and there were only two other groups there, so we got plenty of game time. Love having a free spot available to play!

Someone with a love for kids designed this little park because it host many unique playing areas for kids to choose from. The park is all fenced in with a little track along the inside of the fence for adults to put in some exercise time while the kids are at play and provides easy monitoring of your child. Swings, slides, standing see-saws, climbing, tunnels through tires, sand, volleyball and plenty of additional activities to enjoy. There is one swinging bench of which I haven't seen at any park before, that is sure to make relaxing for the adult very pleasing. I may add that they have one play area with a cross as the ships mast that adds a bit of Christianity to the park. With plenty of trees to shade your visit, this is a sure stop for any parent, especially the stay at home mom to get out of the house and enjoy. Just a note that this park closes early so it's not for the late night walks. Have fun.

The official address is 9801 Tanner Road; however, there is no parking. The best way to enter the parking lot is on Porto Rico Road and Sweetbay Lane near Carvardale Community Center. This is a multi-purpose park situated on a 10-acre odd-shaped land while surrounded by houses and businesses. There are large baseball field, basketball court, tennis court, asphalt walking trail, swing sets as well as picnic tables and a few BBQ grill stands. While there are a couple of covered benches, this park can hold many parties at the same time. The reason being my favor park is the parking lot and mature trees. There are a few designated handicap parking spots and easily accessible to Porto Rico Road and Gessner Drive. It's always cool to walk on the trail with the shady trees on sunny days.

This is my go to park to eat breakfast and chill before I go to work. And of course what stands out the most is the pretty large Disc Golf course. The Disc Golf course takes up the majority of the park. I've never played before. Maybe I should give it a shot. The one thing I truly wish this park has was some kind of walking trail or pathway to follow. But I understand the primary focus is the Disc Golf course. You can still take a nice walk just kind of create your own path. And I try to stay out of the way of the disc golf course that's being occupied to avoid being in the way or hit by a disc haha.

I have been going to this park since it was built. I grew up in this neighborhood and know this…read morepark like the back of my hand. There are so many different playground options. Slides, several jungle-gyms, swings, little rockers things, water fountains, nice bathrooms, picnic tables, and a little covered area if you wanted to have a birthday party. The rest of the park is so magical. There are parts of just field or cleared out areas where you can throw a frisbee or have a picnic in the grass, but there are also acres and acres of woods and bayou behind it. This is where I spend majority of my childhood. There are paths that are marked with arrows throughout the woods, but then you can also walk to the water if you want to. I've seen boyscouts, hikers, joggers, and all sorts back there. There is a private parking lot but there are only a handful of spaces, and they do lock the gate at dusk. I park on the road and usually just walk in so I don't have to worry about my car getting locked in or anything. This park is magical, I love it.
