Came here with a couple of my friends' huskies. We mostly stayed in the big dog area on a early afternoon. Not that many dogs during that time. I noticed a lot of holes in the grass. There's a water fountain that has a funnel to constantly feed the water bowl and there are pooper scoopers throughout the park. Most of the owners I saw were really nice. I heard they had just remodeled or created this park or something, but kinda looks like they need to maintain the grassy area. PS. Our dogs like playing here a bunch, the space is nice, there's lots of parking, there's nice water fountains. I have one complaint: a lot of people with big dogs bring them into the small dog park. I know, I know, your dog is the sweetest thing in the whole world, and your half pitbull half rottweiler is just the nicest dog in the whole world, but there's a large dog park for a reason. This place frustrates me so I'll keep it simple, sort of. (This is mostly based on my experience in the large dog area.) Pros: - Close to home. - A lot of space for dogs to run around even when the area is divided into three. - Two and/or three separate gates (there's a gate that splits the large dog area in half and occasionally they take it away). - Only good for small dogs. - More than just a dog park. Cons: - Some owners don't pay attention to their dog(s). - There aren't any poop bags so maybe that's why some people don't pick up after their dog(s). - The people who come often are kind of closed-off or in their own clique. I'm pretty shy, so I don't really mind. I come here for the dogs anyway, ha ha. - Aggressive dogs are constantly in the large dog area. - I've witnessed people bring in their dog while in heat. - Single/ small, slanted porta-potty across the parking lot. - More dirt than grass. - Uneven ground full of random dirt holes. - Often there is more than one water fountain that is broken. - It's nice that they have water bowls when it's actually there, but eventually someone steals it so sometimes I have to bring my own just in case. read more

If you drive down 101 and see a grass area with dogs running around, that's Watson Park for ya! I come to this park often with my pups and they love it! Throughout the years, they have expanded the park with two dog areas for big and small dogs. There is also a soccer field nearby. The only reason why I gave this park 3 stars is because it no longer has a grass field. It is all dirt. Furthermore, there are barely any benches for people to sit. For such a big park, I would expect more seating areas because many people bring their dogs here, especially in the summertime. If your dogs love the grass, you may want to look for another dog park. If you dog loves open space and running around, this is the place for you and your dog! Just beware that the place is filled with dirt so your pup might need a little bath before coming home. read more

This is a super cute and popular dog park! I was here on a weekday after 5 pm and both the little and big dog areas were packed. There was a ton of fenced space for the dogs to sniff and play around, as well as seating for people. The grass definitely needs some upkeep because it is really sad at the moment. The small dog section is currently under renovation until December 2014 to regrow the grass. So for now, the big dog section has been divided into 2 sections for the big and small dogs. PROS: - pooper scooper available - lots of parking - leashing area - water source for the dogs - an ICE CREAM TRUCK comes by! ++++ CONS: - ALL DIRT (at least the area that's accessible right now while they renovate the small dog area.) - no shade! Came here a few times.... There are two sides to the park, one for big dogs and the other for small dogs. It seems like they are trying to do some grass-regrowing, the small dog area has grass but the big dog area just looks like a giant mud patch. There are some picnic tables, water fountains... plenty of space for your dog to run around... overall the park just seems kinda sad though! Came here for kickball practice, and the field is pretty big so plenty of room for multiple activities to go on. The grass was also lush and green..........aren't we in a drought?! The renovated Watson Dog Park is absolutely gorgeous!!! I really thought that after they tore the old one down, it was going to be replaced with some kind of condos or town homes. You could imagine my surprise, when my husband told me that they built a bigger and better dog park. My two babies love, love, love the newly updated park. More importantly, we are blessed to still see some of our old friends from the original park. Pros: huge, real grass, beautiful foliage surroundings, doggie water fountain, benches and tables for dog owners to parlay, complimentary doggie-poop bags, community posting boards, two large soccer fields nearby, a mini-track for folks to walk, decent parking near the dog park opening, respectful and fun park-goers Cons: no shaded areas in the small dog area, no decent water bowl for the doggie fountain, everyone does not pick-up stink bombs after their furry friends, too much watering of the new grass causing mini-puddles (even in the late morning) read more

"WOW THIS PLACE IS HUGE!" - yeah, I was in awe of the size when I first visited. Compared to Reed St., this place feels like an Olympic field for dogs! There is a spigot for water and bowls, but I usually avoid those since I've heard of animals contracting things. Instead, I bring a Gulpy bottle I purchased on Amazon to deter my dog from drinking the water if the bowls look dirty. I love that this place is not as crowded, it's far more spacious and it actually has less feces when I walk around the perimeter with my dog. This is the place you want to bring the frisbees, Chuck-It toys, and slingshots to really let your fur baby stretch their legs and CHASE for his/her "Pursuit of Happiness". This is the second dog park I've been to and I do love it. The grass does need some upkeep, but that's better than muddy-poop dirt any day. The people I've met here are very nice - and I don't get the "clique" vibe when socializing with new people here. My main gripe - REFILL THOSE POOP BAGS! Comon' San Jose! If Reed St. can manage a weekly maintenance to refill those dispensers, so can you! =D read more

1st time coming here on a Monday morning around 9am and there was one dog. But by 10 there were at least 20 dogs running around for my pupper to chase and play with. Both big and small dogs were on 1 side and no one was in the other. Very big nice size place , plenty of grass and there is a dirt path on the border so I can walk while my doggo plays. There are multiple benches and one covered area with 2 water spots on either end of the enclosure. There are 2 entrances with double gated entry but dont have a latches. I DONT LIKE the random middle gate that is not locked and people walk in and out through there. I would give the dog park itself a 2 but I gave Watson Park a 3 star rating since there other features aside from the dog park that make it worth going to: big kid and small kid play ground, soccer fields, basketball courts, a snack vendor near the bathrooms and a nice paved walkway that surrounds park that is good to run/walk around. The dog park as most dog parks is separated into big and small dog areas. I've recently noticed a decline in the amount of people that come to the dog park so that detracts from the experience since there are no dogs for my pug to play with. I typically go around 5pm on the weekdays and 9 am on the weekends so you would think that would be peak dog park time too! I've also noticed that sometimes larger dogs are brought into the small dog area but it's usually not a problem since (from what I've witnessed) large dogs in the small dog area are well behaved. As a lot have mentioned, the dog park is all dirt and dead grass.. not sure why no one maintains it when the soccer field directly across from it is lush and well kept(?) The park is quite large so it's great if your dog needs to run around. Typically there are no poop bags available so bring your own. There are fountains available but sometimes the bowl is missing so it's best to bring your own water as well. The park has plenty of parking which is an advantage and disadvantage since a lot of random people seem to just hang out here in their cars. I've even seen someone "washing" their car with paper towel and Windex once haha. Some pretty interesting characters can also be seen walking towards the creek area behind the dog park so I would avoid walking in that area although I frequently walk to the park by myself and haven't had any issues. I usually come here with my dog and it's a great time for my him to socialize with others, as lame as that sounds. When you enter there is double the fence up so just incase some dog follows you out, you still have a chance to put him/her back in. The very first time I brought my dog here, he had the time of his life! Almost all of the owners clean up after their pets so there's not much worries to step in poop. And if your pet makes a number two and you have no poop bags to pick it up, there are a couple of pooper scoopers for you to borrow. The park is divided in two sections: one for the small dogs and another for larger ones. The only down fall is that there are absolutely no shaded areas! So if you plan on coming here during a sunny summer day, make sure you bring a hat or an umbrella (as Asian as that sounds)! read more

Just small update... Still loving this place but some people are rude! Sure there are separate areas for the the different sized dogs but come on people. There is this old GSD that goes into the small dog area with his owner and her puppy. The GSD doesn't bother anyone and it would probably break a bone in the big dog section. So if you have the small dog being aggressive towards other dogs and nipping at them, then you should be the one to leave. Don't tell people off if it's your dog that's starting the fights. Rude people. Boyfriend and I took our puppy to a shiba inu event here last weekend. It was really nice! Here are my thoughts: Pros: (+) Nice size for both large and small dog areas (+) Plenty of picnic bench seating for the humans (+) Good access to water fountains (+) Nice grassy area! (some dry patches but whatever) (+) Right by the freeway but you don't even notice the noise from the cars (+) Although we were specifically there for the shiba party and so there were a lot of shibas, the other dogs that were there seemed really cool too Cons: (-) I wish it was closer to a human bathroom! Nice park, close to home! Closest dog park to home. Doggies usually come around 5-6 when owners are off work. There's a lot of dogs that come here so lots of doggies for your pup to play with! But I try to come here when there's not that many dogs cause my dog only likes to be chased. When no one wants to chase him, he'll seriously start running laps around the park on his own. No joke. SO, I just come here when it's empty and run around with my dog haha. + Lots of space for your pooch to stretch it's legs! + Water fountain and bowls are there for doggies when they get thirsty. + Tennis balls so your dog can fetch! + Benches for the owners + Doggie bags (sometimes) and pooper scoopers for your needs! Sometimes the owners here don't really know how to control their dog and just let them run around and hump other dogs and just laugh. Some dont pay attention to their dog and won't see them poop. I've brought my dogs here a few times (pit mix and mini dachshund) and at first the park wad awesome! Beautiful and new with lots of room for my dogs to run around... One drawback is the water fountain... Water pressure isn't that great and it takes a long time to fill the water bowl... Poor dogs. Took the dogs today... This park has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantages: Very close to home, lots of spaces to run for my two pit bulls, fairly eclectic mix of breeds and owners. Disadvantages: Lack of shade, if your dog poops on the other side of the park you've got one long walk to find that sucker, water there is also a bit of an inconvenience being spread far away, and sometimes the grass is over-watered so you end up with muddy dogs. read more

BEST DOG PARK IN SAN JOSE!! I tried visiting a few others that are close by and some of them had NO dogs on a weeknight after 5pm?!! Very disappointing. Watson ALWAYS has plenty of pups for my dog to interact with. Highly recommend Watson Dog Park. They have 2 areas, 1 for smaller breeds, and 1 for larger breeds. Pros: the park is big. There's plenty of room for lots of dogs to run around and have their own spaces. The morning I went, everyone was in the small dog area too socialize in the only grassy area. Big dogs, small dogs.....no one cared. Cons: the big dog area has been fenced in half, presumably so grass will grow back. -Not any real shade. A summer afternoon would be intense here. -The crazy broad that, upon her arrival, orders everyone out of the small dog area (the only area with grass and benches) if she feels their dog is too large. A mellow Saturday morning was ruined when this ridiculous woman rolls up with her 2 toy dogs (dressed in tee shirts) and her cocker spaniel. I want to five star this park, I really do. It's big and open and lots of grass. The bad - water fountain pressure sucks which makes it hard to keep doggies watered. There isn't much shade. There is too much clearance under the fence and balls can easily roll under it. I've had to trek my way around to the back of the park around the fence, sinking in the mud several times, just to retrieve my pups kong. The worst? The dogs. Some dogs are good, most dogs are good. But some dogs are aggressive. My dog could give a crap about other dogs until they start to hump him and try to take his ball. My dog won't start a fight, but he will finish a fight. The dog owners seem a little complacent and aren't always on top of their dog. I can't take my buddy here anymore, I don't want him to get cut up, bit, or picked on anymore. And being an aggressive breed, I'm afraid someone is going to report him even if he's not the aggressor. read more

We actually really liked this park in the beginning, but after an incident that happened to our now 11 month old labrador (he was 6 mos old then) we probably won't come back here.. ever again. When I first started bringing my dog here he would stay close to me and not wander too far away. I've been bringing him on a weekly basis and now, as soon as he's off his leash, he runs away and starts socializing with other dogs (and humans, he's a sucker for some petting) almost instantly, which is a huge improvement to how shy and attached to me he used to be. The small dog area is pretty big, you can easily lose track of your dog if you're not constantly paying attention. There's always the most people in the afternoons and everyone's been nice and friendly so far, no bad altercations at all. All the dogs seem very well behaved and very friendly and, if by any chance a dog fight starts, the owners are all on alert and will break it off right away. read more

I am in love with the newly remodeled dog park! Nice and brand new and clean. They have a separate small dog and larger dog area as in typical larger dog parks. The crowd is usually nice and friendly with friendly under control dogs. I love the larger grassy area and so does my dog! I have a smaller dog and there are two entrances. From what I've heard, many dog parks aren't well kept up or cleaned by dog owners, but from the month or so I've been bringing my puppy here, I've become rather fond of this place. From what I've seen, many of the dogs are friendly and playful, and the owners are in large part understanding of how dogs can and should play. Granted, some people have no clue on how to take care of a dog. For example, if a dog bows and barks, it isn't aggressive, it is asking another dog to play. If you pick you're dog up and remove them from play, they will become defensive and hostile toward dogs, and it's a damn shame. Note: If your puppy doesn't have all of it's shots, PLEASE don't bring it here. I'm sure not every full grown dog has it's full regimen of shots, and it puts the little ones at risk for parvo. They have 2 areas at this location...one for small dogs, and one for larger dogs. You'll usually see a couple larger dogs on the small dogs side, which I actually love, so it lets little dogs learn how to cope with bigger dogs. If you see a little corgi going crazy, either my husband or I will be there. read more

My coworker's shiba inu, Awesome, and my frenchie, Ninja are bffs at our workplace. He brings Awesome here every weekend and invited us to meet them here today. It was our first time at this dog park and it was fun! We arrived around 3pm and there were a good amount of dogs in the small dog area. But this area is huge compared to the one at Butcher Park. There's a lot of grass (real grass) and some sand areas. We were here for about an hour and had a blast. I just wished there were more trees for shade for both us and the dogs. I wished the water fountains were also closer to the entry way. And free poop bags would be nice. read more

I love taking my baby to this park! There's usually a couple of other dogs here, so it's great to get them to socialize! The owners are mainly respectful and courteous. I did see some poop, but I'm forgiving as you may not always have an eye on your pup. The landscape is really nice and renovated. There are no 'speckles' of grass nor missing patches. They do have a fountain and separate the spaces between big/small breeds. People are really respectful, and I have seen people getting involved if their doggie decides to get a bit aggressive. I've taken Peppy, my pug to many parks, but this is the first dog park I've ever taken him to...my bro and I took him along with my bf and his corgi, Hennessy..yeah...Hennessy...talk about total awkwardness when calling her attention in front of other people lol... anyway... We went during Memorial Day...not too many people when we came...there's two separate areas...one for small, and one for big dogs... The area is pretty spacious...all the other small dogs that were there seemed to get along with one another...Peppy and Hennessy were a bit on the shy side, but mingled eventually...a yorkie even jumped on Hennessy and started humping her...lol... Peppy gets thirsty pretty easily, so we brought him his water container and filled it with water...the moment I put it on the ground, all these other dogs started drinking out of it...lol...i don't mind...but like...what's up with that?lol... There's no poop bags provided, so luckily we brought our own...Peppy had to go, and we cleaned it up... I wish the grass had more vegetation...seemed dry and dead in most areas and muddy in others...poop all over the place from other dogs...and of course I just so happened to step on some... I'd come back here again just cuz I think it's safer for me to let Peppy out and about there, and not in my neighborhood... read more

We still bring Jasper here even though it seems that the maintenance has gone down since it's reopening. I understand that the funding has gone down...there's dirt patches where there should be more grass and they don't provide potty bags anymore either. Other than that, it's the same park. I used to bring Jasper (a maltese) to the big dog side sometimes because he likes to run with them and the big dogs wouldn't mind him. Now I don't bring him on that side much anymore because I don't feel comfortable when some of the big dogs are jumping up on me while I'm holding my dog up in the air trying to get out of there and the owners do little to nothing to stop their dogs. Wth. I don't appreciate your dogs trying to get at my little dude and scratching at me in the process. Thanks. I think the dog owners need to take more responsibility though and either bring their own bags or use the scooper that's provided. Keep our dog park nice people! read more
