I decided to take a walk at a popular park somewhere in Berryessa district of San Jose since it's close from a boba place I went. Pretty much the park has amenities: basketball court, tennis courts, playgrounds, exercise areas, etc. It's a very place to hangout, exercise, and jog at. It's a very large park though but 70% of the area has basically just grass and trees. It's like a regional park but a lot smaller. Not many people come to this park but you'll see many coming from an area where the playgrounds are at. They should kinda add more sport areas or play places in the park just to maybe fill up some spaces. read more

top 3 neighborhood parks! came here as the kid for playground, tennis court, now I run/walk the entire park loop (2.2 to 2.5ish miles). always feel safe, excpet back end thats sometimes secluded and noisy bc next to freeway. bathrooms in front + back of park. - A family friendly public area the heart of the neighborhood, Cataldi Park is a great place for weekend activities. From a running perspective, the course has gradual rises among the relatively flat course that makes doing a quick 5k manageable for all fitness levels. The many times I've traversed the park, it's fairly clean and well maintained. I've also seen many a birthday party celebration being held, as well as people testing their pickleball skills against others. There are couples doing things together, walking, picnics, etc, which is cool for anyone considering this an affordable way to have a date. While there are a few transients rummaging about, all in all, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, which makes for a wonderful time when the weather here in San Jose definitely provides a shine. Because of how busy the park can get, it's recommended to call the local park line in order to reserve the tables with grills, if one is considering having their own outing any time soon. Park added pickleball courts next to basketball court. There is still a wall for tennis on the backside as well. The park could go a little long here and there as far as upkeep w/ the grass, but for the most part it is taken care of pretty well. Clean. **** over 10 years ago I found an entrance off of Benning Road today and was wowed! I have wanted to run through here for a long time... So, that said, I went through the people gate on Benning and wound my way around to the path. The Signage on Kingman could be a little better (telling me there was no egress at the other end would have been helpful). But I sallied forth and continued my march on...even when the path ended I continued on, following bike treads and puppy treads, so I was able to buy some water before my trek home. A decently sized park for waking, playing sports, hosting picnic parties. There's people there often during the weekends but it's spacious - small parking lot but there's a lot of street parking probably more than the lot itself - walking path is at least over a mile so it's great to get steps in and to walk your dogs. It's part concrete side walk and part dirt path - multiple picnic table / grill areas. I see people hosting parties every weekend - multiple play grounds. Larger one by the parking lot and smaller towards the back. They look clean and maintained - lots and lots of grass areas where I see people sit around or play soccer/ volley ball. My dog loves to just run along the grass and roll around. - basket ball courts present - a volley ball sand box area (no net the last time I saw it though ) - many tennis courts ! Too bad they don't have any lights to allow playing at night. (Please change that if you can -- why not promote more healthy exercise). It gets busy on weekends mornings and sometimes large groups hog up the courts for hours. - NO dog park unfortunately. It would be nice if they added an enclosed/ gates dog playing/ socializing area. (Please add ) - it can be pretty in the autumn where you see trees with colorful leaves. I saw photographers doing photo shoots. - decently clean and maintained. I've been coming to this park since my middle school days and although I'd like to avoid revealing my age, i'll simplify it by saying that was MANY MANY MOONS AGO. Lmao. Cataldi Park has it all. It is equipped with plenty of seating, lots of welcomed shade, a BBQ area, tennis court, handball court, basketball court, and a jungle gym for your little loved one. Pet friendly as well. The park is spacious with lots of open greenery. This provides tons of space for you to isolate yourself away from the crowds if need be. this park is quite big for where it's located. I have yet explore the entire park, the few times i've been i've only stayed Morril street side (tennis court area). As far as I can tell, there are plenty of open green space for kids to play and run around. I have seen people set up bounce house for birthday parties on weekends. The parking lot is small, but you can easily find parking spots along the streets. Plenty of trees for shades, the playground area is also a bit small (there are two, one for bigger kids, another for smaller children) but if your kids like to climb, they do have a rock climbing thing. Near where the parking lot is and along Morrill street, there are some benches and tables. Bring your bikes, as there are pathways for you to bike or bike around the perimeter of the park! Plenty of tennis courts, but on weekends, i think they get occupied quickly. Not sure if it's a first come first serve or do you have to book a court in advanced. read more

This is such a great park with multiple areas for activities. It has a great mini trail system for runners and walkers, exercise equipment, a few play areas, tennis courts (!), and two restroom areas. It even has a rock climbing wall for kids! There are plenty of tables and benches throughout the park. The grass is well-kept (some other parks let their grass dry out) and is dog-friendly. It's a huge park and there's plenty of parking along several streets because it's so widespread. It can get busy on weekends, but that's expected, especially at a park that is so visible off of a busy Street. read more

Great little spot to have your family join you for a picnic. Went there today and I didn't realize that this little gem was nestled so well into this neighborhood. Great place with LOTS of space and a good amount of parking. I only saw two bathrooms that were positioned pretty far from one another so that is something to keep in mind. My most recent discovery concerning parks where you can exercise with machines (the bars and also they seem to be adding new modern devices, super!). Funny thing is my bf told me he has passed zillion times by this park and thought was a plain boring one. The other day, after the happy discovery of Bacalhau Grill store, I told him to stop by so we could take a walk there. I was very surprised to see how big this park is and how family oriented (no homeless around). Many people walking their dogs, jogging, doing taichi, playing tennnis. I am very curious to see after whom was this park named. Who was Cataldi? I imagine some Sicilian family coming to SJ in the splendor of the valley days:) In any case, the ideal park, you will see some BBQ tables, the concrete ones, no one to steal those chairs! you can also ride bikes, there is like 2 miles of loop end to end. This is another park that my bf and me like to come. It's very close by our place, and also have some poke stops for people who are still playing Pokemon go. The path here also flat, and good for people running and walking. Here also have some courts for people come to play tennis or basketball. The children also can come here for playground. Being that I live 5 minutes from here, I'm a regular b/c I take my daughter here every other day.. the park and green area is generally clean.. picnic tables, BBQ pits, and playgrounds, 2 swings area, and a rock climbing thing... very clean and mostly friendly people.. great park? I think so! This is also a dog friendly park.. there are bags for the owners to pick up after their dogs spread-out throughout the park.. very awesome. read more

My favorite local Park. It's surprisingly bigger than it looks from Morrill - it stretches back a long way to allow for multiple playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts. It's a good 1.5 miles if you walk around outside loop. Perfect for my get out of the house Covid lunch break. :) read more

I live across the street and I'm glad they finally put lights all around that now the pathways are visible. I walk my dog here daily and during summer months I have to have a flashlight but nowadays I don't need to. Some areas are still dark but this is not a small park and it needs another restroom, maybe more basketball hoops. This is a park really close to my place and I'm honestly surprised I've never set food here. Also, if you're a Pokemon Go hunter, then this is a great spot for you, as there are tons of Pokemon nests that rotate here. It changes almost weekly. It's a bit odd shaped for a park, but once you get the lay out, you'll love it overall. It's actually larger than it might seem and is a perfect place to bring the family and have a some family time. How I ended up here? Well, this all started because my friend gained this sudden passion for acro-yoga and forced his non-athletic friends to do it with him. Long story short, after stuffing our faces from eating a big lunch and probably gaining 5 pounds each person after that; we spontaneous found a park nearby to do one of his yoga poses because what are good friends for right?... sigh. At the first glance of the park, I noticed big grass fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, mini rock climbing structures for kids, nice non-rusty looking swing sets for both bigger kids and little kids. Plenty of mini playgrounds with slides, monkey bars, etc. It was a nice open field for a picnic on a nice day on the tables, playing soccer and having BBQ on the BBQ pits with your family. This is a dog friendly park too! I saw many owners walking their dogs around. Plenty of free parking lot parking and bathrooms are decently clean compared to other parks I've been to. Fast forwarding to my friends and I, we enjoyed our time swinging on the swing sets because you're never too old for that! We then failed attempting to do the acro yoga on the rubber flooring they had! Let's just say feet's were stepped on, backs were being crushed and some of us fell over more than we should have... But we had fun doing it! All in all, this is a really nice park for a nice sunny day and I would recommend it to families and friends! read more

This park is very easy to find. It is well kept and spacious. There is a field where kids were playing soccer. The picnic area is nested right in between the field and 3 little play grounds for kids. I came to Cataldi Park for a UYE and this was a pretty nice park. There was plenty of parking in the parking lot near the tennis courts as well as street parking in the neighborhood surrounding the park. I'm not sure how many playgrounds this park has or how many picnic areas but from what I saw, there was the picnic area near the playground and the tennis courts. The bathrooms weren't exactly clean and I saw a toilet plunger in the urinal of the men's bathroom. Yes, TMI (too much information) but other than that, the park was pretty good. It seemed to be very clean, too. This place is 4.5 stars because of the bathroom yuckiness. read more

My favorite park in San Jose! It's really nice to walk around any time of the day. There are play structure for kids, adult exercising equipment, (wheel chair friendly), tennis courts, and a half basketball court. The only disappointing thing about this park is the basketball court. They need at least 2 full size courts.... the one they have just sucks :( not enough! Great park if you play tennis. It has seven tennis court, not lighted during the night. It's a pretty good size park, unfortunately everything else is quite small. Small bbq area, two small bbq pit. Cataldi Park is my favorite place to play tennis that's close to my house. The courts are in good shape but don't have lights. I'm definitely a beginner but am still always looking for someone to play with. If you're interested, let me know! I haven't really explored much of the park but it looks nice and well kept. It also has easy parking. The website says Cataldi Park is 33.5 acres, has 2 restrooms, 20 picnic tables, 3 BBQs, 5 playgrounds, 7 tennis courts, one soccer field, a fitness cluster and an exercise course. I recently discovered this park through yelp when I was looking for a new place to run around with my dog. There were plenty of parking along the streets and 1 parking lot with ample parking spots. My dog and I really enjoyed the big open space as well as the dirt path, perfect for going on a run. The running route also claimed to have a 1/2 mile and a 1 mile option, so my dog and I chose to run the whole mile. We really enjoyed our time here, the park was clean and there weren't many people when we went. The weather was also perfect! I'll definitely run here again with my dog to tire her out. read more

This will become my go to place to walk! It is very large and has sidewalk all the way around and dirt trails in between. It also has multiple playgrounds, tennis courts, and soccer fields. The large park has about 4 small parking lots throughout but I felt there was also plenty of street parking. Perfect for toddlers. Everything is exactly their size and height. Would def bring my kids back.

We met family at this park for a picnic. The kids had a lot of fun playing on the playground but the structures look like they need some maintenance. The wood is blistering, needs to be sanded and resealed, and at least one kid came home with large splinters in their hand. The restrooms are not conveniently located to every area of the park. When the kids had to go, we had to drive them over. Generally, I enjoyed hanging out here and it was nice that some of the areas were shaded. I just didn't appreciate that someone let their dog off the leash to charge at my kids on the playground, only to just stand there and not do anything as it repeatedly lunged at us. It was enough that even though I like the park, if the people who visit this park think that is okay, then maybe it isn't the park for us. read more

This park has been one of my go tos ever since I was a kid. The park is pretty wide and while it is currently going under renovations, it looks like it will only be for the better. There are way more exercise stations and they have even added a mini rock climb for the children. The park also has several wide patches of grass where you can play with your dog as well as have several bbqs. Nearby the main area, there's a parking lot as well as plenty of street parking. Also, there are plenty of tennis courts, but they tend to get filled quickly so if you want to play tennis, I suggest showing early in the morning. During the summer, there are plenty of youth leagues that hold sports events at this park and there are plenty of people out for a walk and those that jog as well. For those looking for a comfortable park to bring the family, this park is perfect as there's plenty of space to do any outdoor event that you have planned. read more
