They could care les about YOUR loss of hard earned savings; they just want to line their pockets! Make sure you understand that IF you are foolish enough (like I was) to believe their sales office staff that your earnest money would be returned, only to hear the infamous "You should expect your refund in a couple of weeks. We can't do direct deposit, so it will be a check back". Bull! Their managers are as unreliable and untrustworthy as their underlings. And DO NOT TRUST THEIR SO-CALLED ELECTRONIC SIGNING SYSTEM. WE HAD A DOCUMENT THAT WAS ALTERED AFTER WE SUBMITTED IT! If there was a rating below minus -0 it still would be way above what these "With Us It's Personal", 'home developers' deserve. To say that our house sale had some challenges would be an understatement, and Todd skillfully helped us to navigate all of these challenges. Based on our experience, we can attest to the following as some of Todd's key strengths: a. Knowledge of the market: Todd was knowledgeable of market conditions, which is very important at all times, but is particularly crucial during a rapidly-changing market. b. Effective communication: One of Todd's greatest strengths is his communication skills, both verbal and written. He provided weekly updates; he emailed, texted, and called to keep us informed; and he communicated with all of the people involved in the sale in a way that moved the transaction along, but without being rude or condescending. He really knew what to say and how to say it, and with an understanding of everyone's perspectives and sensitivities. c. Project management: One might think, what does project management have to do with the sale of a house? What we've learned from this experience is: surprisingly, quite a lot! Todd is one of the most effective project managers we have come across, and that is a high compliment coming from us, as we both do project work in our jobs, and often serve as project managers ourselves. When there were unforeseen challenges that needed steady leadership, Todd rose to the challenge, communicating effectively, and making sure everyone was on-task and responsible to the team. We had so many challenges with our closing, and we can categorically state that without Todd playing a leadership role and coordinating with Lender, Title Company, Buyer, Buyer's Agent, and other relevant Third Parties, we would not have been able to wrap up our house sale when we did. d. Empathy: Todd was always there to provide warmth and guidance through the sale in the most kind-hearted and supportive manner, by listening and acknowledging our perspectives, but without being demanding or demeaning. Even when discussing areas where he did not necessarily agree with our perspectives, he was open to hearing our ideas, never put us down, and he stayed positive and enthusiastic about our house sale. He was a calming force through some challenging times, and helped give us comfort through some difficult events. e. Time and Effort: Todd went above and beyond what we expected in terms of the time and effort he put into the sale of the house. Given that we were long-distance sellers, as we had moved out-of-state just before listing our home, Todd was our local eyes and ears. He held multiple open houses, visited the property to check on things, and spent quite a bit of time and effort putting together the weekly updates specific to the sale of our house, which was very useful for our decision-making processes. We hit a snag and had to extend the closing date of our house, and Todd spent a lot of time coordinating things, leading everyone through the challenges, and he even drove to a town that was not close by to meet a relevant Third Party in person to keep the transaction moving. He genuinely made us feel like we were his only clients with the time and effort he spent on the sale of our house. f. Flexibility: When we first met with Todd, and he put together a plan for the sale of our house, we assumed that Todd may adopt a formulaic approach to the sale of our house. However, that turned out to not be true, and we later realized that the approach he recommended was suited for the market conditions at the time of our meeting, but as we progressed through the sale of our house, the previous approach was no longer appropriate, and Todd was very flexible and pivoted to address the changing conditions of the housing market. g. Pleasant to Work With: Todd is smart, funny, supportive, and very pleasant to interact with. Working with him felt like engaging with a wise friend who has your best interests at heart. We found this company shady with dishonest business practices…read more The property management company we had been renting from for 4.5 years (with which we maintained an impeccable payment history) retired and gave their properties away to DMRE in April 2015. This also happened to be the month that our lease was expiring. When DMRE came to inspect the house we were renting for their records, they found it to be beautiful, neat, clean and well cared for (its usual state) and declared us model tenants. They told us that the other homes they had inspected were Haz-Mat worthy. Despite our flawless record, they refused to honor a very key component of our original lease which offered the option to lease OR rent month to month (at a steep increase). We were COUNTING on utilizing this feature of our contract in order to time our move without undue expense. Because, you know...buying a house does not always happen like clock work. Danna gave us two options: renew the lease for ONE or TWO more years or MOVE in 30 days. We told her we could not possibly FIND & BUY a new home as well as MOVE all in just 30 days. So she gave us 60 days. And even though this company refused to let us rent on a month to month basis, somehow they still charged us the higher month-to-month rate for our last 2 months (which was $235 more per month!) Wait, what? So we ended up having to pay the extra $235 month-to-month rent price (while being denied the month-to-month rights), because that makes perfect sense in Greedy Landlord Land. Then we had to move all our belongings into 2 storage units, after which we were homeless (for 23 days!!). Finally we found a house and closed (feeling pressured due to our homelessness - not a good way to buy a home!!!) and then we moved (again) out of the storage units and into the new house. HUGE expense. HUGE hassle. HUGE headache. Thanks DMRE!!! Because of this company, May, June and July 2015 were very unpleasant and costly. And the real kicker is that ALL of this could have been avoided if they had simply honored our original lease and let us rent month-to-month. (Which would have ended up being only ONE more month.) I wonder how they sleep at night? Would not recommend these people to anyone. UPDATE: It appears that the reason for denying month to month renting was so the house could be rented out to her son who seems to be the one occupying the home since the day we moved out.
