My builder loved working with them and I feel safer knowing how well the system was installed. Recently, I needed their help with my system and they responded so quickly, explaining everything about my set up. My friend used them 10 years ago, I used them this year and plan to work with them anytime in the future. Great and knowledgeable people with quick response time. I couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you!

After I was able to get my life up and settled, I started visiting the fire stations in San Jose (mainly the 2 stations that came to my rescue 17 years ago) to give them my baked goods. Ever since then, Gavin has gotten excited every time he sees a fire truck, a fire station, and/or firefighters. It was a Sunday and I was just out and about in Capitola. I went for a run and stopped at the beach for Gavin to play for a bit. I can tell that he was ready for a nap so it was time to get back home. I took a detour when I saw the fire station before me. I woke Gavin up to tell him that there is a fire truck right there. He woke up instantly and ran towards the station. Friendly guys. Very welcoming. They had their door up so everyone can see the fire truck. Gavin sat in it and could not stop smiling. He did not want to leave. I did promise him that we will pay a visit again this Saturday to bring by my famous chocolate chip cookies. During the holidays, they setup donation drop-offs at their station for the Salvation Army. Remember that giving back isn't just during the holidays. Go out there and visit the local men and women ready to protect and serve the community.

San Jose Fire Department, ENGINE 18 C in the 95111 Monterey rd area,…read moreCame to my families rescue and aid tonight. Jason, Rich, Peter and another gentleman who's name I cannot recall, were outstanding and couldn't have demonstrated a higher level of compassion and form of leadership. Tonight a pipe from the back bathroom burst causing chaos and flood. My parents who are elderly, and sickly were afraid and in a state of panic. I tried calming them and we ran outside to shut off the water switch to the entire building. We could not get in touch with management and were in deep concern. When my mother noticed a popping sound from the water heater we became increasingly fearful and called SJFD. We were them advised to exit the apartment until they arrived. Upon arrival of Engine 18 C, they quickly made sure we were safe and that the water heater was not a danger rather the sounds coming from it were simply reactions to the shutting off of the water which caused water temperatures to change. Once Jason saw we simply needed a plumber and advised us to call one out, pay for it and have the owner of the building reimburse us, I explained our unfortunate low budget. I explained how i am between jobs and my parents who are on fixed incomes could not afford to pay for a plumber. Jason and the others looked deep into their hearts and did not leave us. They went into the house and fixed the issue so that we could get through the night. I felt so grateful that after making sure we were safe, and that water heater was not a danger, they didn't just leave. They went above and beyond and got their hands dirty. Bravo guys. You all helped a single working mother and an elderly couple so much. This is the face of San Jose fire department. I salute and appreciate you all for your help tonight. Thank you and God bless you. -Ruby Perez 4084691132

I freaked out because my baby was inside the house alone; I ran to my neighbor and asked to use their phone to call my husband but wasn't able to reach him. A few minutes later, I decided to call 911; the operator asked me to wait outside and help is on the way. I kept talking to my baby through the door; I was in tears hoping nothing bad would happen. I waited for about 5min (might be shorter, but it seemed longer when I was anxious), the Santa Clara Fire Department came. They were all very friendly and patience; they calmly asked for detail information about my house and my baby. They tried to find a way in without breaking my doors; they quickly figured out a way to get into the house through a window. As soon as they opened the door for me, I ran to see my baby. Luckily she was safe, enjoying some videos in the high chair. The Fire Fighters didn't just leave right away, instead, they made sure to place the window net back on correctly, said hello to my baby and my dog, as well as checking the smoke protectors at my house. Embarrassingly, all of my smoke protectors were out of batteries; they offered to install new ones but refused to let me pay for them. They also played with my baby and my dog while waiting for the protectors to be installed. Seriously, I haven't seen a group of genuinely nice people in a long while. While I felt very bad for them to come for my stupid mistake, I was very thankful that they were able to rescue us in such a short notice. Thank you Santa Clara Fire Department! You guys are awesome.

I had planned to put off dealing with my wedding ring until after the holidays, but my arthritis…read morehad other ideas. When my husband gave the ring to me (which he'd designed), I planned to keep it on until the day I died. Morbid, but true--that's how much it meant to me. At some point over the years, I noticed my osteoarthritis flare-ups were getting more frequent and much more intense. The swelling and pain became unbearable yesterday. I knew it was coming, so in the week leading up to Christmas, I had spoken with jewelers about removing it but no one wanted the liability, because it wasn't just an inflammation problem; the arthritis had caused bone spurs around the knuckle and the ring was now much smaller than the knuckle--impossible to remove. I didn't want to go to the ER because I could still somewhat function, and the ER is for people a lot worse off than I was. However, the day after Christmas I could no longer ignore the pain. At first, the firefighters at Station 14, A-shift, weren't 100% sure it would come of with the tools they had available without causing me more pain than I was already in, but for me, there was no turning back. I'll spare you the details of the procedure. Elliot Rubin talked me through it with humor to keep me calm and lots of reassurances, while Jeremy Pratt kept me distracted. It took heroic strength (the band was very wide with 12 diamonds encircling it), much twisting, and more that a little bit of swearing until we heard a satisfying snap. It took a few more minutes with pliers to get it the rest of the way off. The pain took a turn for the better almost immediately. Captain Rob Klemek made sure I was okay and modestly reiterated that "that's what we're here for". Words could only go so far to express my appreciation to these wonderful professionals who were away from their families during Christmas week to keep us safe. Thank you again, guys! I hope you enjoyed the cookies!
