However, all we saw was a little marshland. They forced you to pay a lot fee to choose your site. I am very disappointed in them. We have stayed here many times and have never had this type of experience. We also had family member staying and asked to be put close together. We had to walk across the campground to even get to spend time with them. We have stayed at this campground multiple times and never had a problem. Of course we were forced to pay the $20 lock fee to choose our site. We will never ever stay here again and we do not recommend anyone else staying here. Unless of course you pay the extra fee. Goodbye Rockwood RV, even though we have been. Repeat visitors, we will never visit here again!

The roadways are paved, but the sites are gravel... and that tiny gravel that gets in your shoes and ends up everywhere. Oh, well. A nice view from our site of the lake. We very much wish they did not have so many "buddy sites" where there were on our visit two empty peninsulas that when we looked at the map, that's because the great view corner spots were four buddy sites meaning you have to rent both. Our little cul de sac was full, and some of our neighbors were evidently very popular with lots of visitors, they had lots of kids, and they loved their music. They honored quiet hours, but it was a lot that if we could have moved over, we definitely would have. Love the cafe, love that the cafe will deliver food or margaritas to your campsite. We did a couple of the activities in that cafe common area... fun group S'mores with ALL the possible fixings and Bingo one night. Met some nice folks that were very fun. We don't fish, but a lot of folks were doing that. We don't have a boat, but I would say most folks here had some sort of water vessel. The location is a bit remote, and the road to the campground is rather small, but manageable... just pay attention. We'll likely visit again in a few years and maybe they will have made some upgrades with some paved or concrete sites - fingers crossed.

My boyfriend and I were in a floating cabin and loved it. More than enough space, little kitchenette, and sofa. The restaurant went out of their way to help set up a surprise party for my boyfriend that involved 31 people coming from all over the country. They were so amazing, words cannot say! Christy, the manager of the campground helped out with the next days picnic and setting up the pavilion we rented. It is a beautiful area and I highly recommend it for small or large get togethers!

Secondly the sites are all supposed to be paved. This is not entirely true. Ours was partially paved. It had a huge square left unpaved with gravel instead which made it difficult to back into. Also, The spot happened to be right where you would place the rug. Then when it rained it turned into a mud hole. The internet is very spotty which can be frustrating while you are watching a movie. However, it is fairly quiet which was nice. And also very clean. Especially the bathhouses. I doubt we would ever stay here again but for the price I expected more.

They have remodeled cabins, a nice big house and the lodge has been remodeled with nice clean rooms and wonderful lakefront view! Lots of activities for the kids also! I have to say that they aren't maintaining the cabins. The shower faucet in cabin 1 leaks onto the floor when trying to run a bath (we have young children and it's hard to give a bath with water leaking all over the place). In November '17 when we were last here there was a functional ceiling fan on the deck, upon arriving in July when the ceiling fan was most needed there was only a pole with wires sticking out where the fan should have been. No working lock on the bathroom...really?! Also, wifi doesn't work. We called the office and were told they'd get maintenance to fix it but it never was. Don't get me started on the parking situation. There should be 2 reserved spots in front of each cabin for those who rent the cabins, don't plan on this during the night or weekends. Restaurant patrons park in all the cabin parking area and when we arrived to check-in had to carry our luggage quite a distance and down a hill to our cabin. When we informed the office, we got a text saying "sorry". This was going to be our go-to place to stay when we visit Vonore 2-3 times a year to see family, but I don't think so after this last trip. I'd rather spend this kind of $$ on somewhere that is being maintained more than just flipping guests in/out with only cleanings and not worrying about the other areas that need attention.
