Philly Cheese Steak with Onions and Peppers

My wife and I were heading to the Dragon and discovered this place! We had a great visit with the new owners and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch....Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and Jalapeno Pulled Pork Nachos! We HIGHLY recommend you try them out...You'll love it! They're now on our "We Gotta' Go Back!" List..... Also, most importantly: The Dragon Pitt Inn and BBQ is under NEW OWNERSHIP since June of 2022 and these folks REALLY care about good food and quality service!

Very dirty and sticky ketchup bottle

The food wasn't bad but I can get just as good if not a better burger from a Waffle House. I got a burger fries and a bottle of water and it cost me $21 there isn't table service, and it's like eating at a fast food restaurant the tables were all dirty. I personally wouldn't recommend eating here I was very displeased

Maybe it was the 107 degree heat, or maybe it was my growling stomach, but this place hit the spot for me and I had one of the best simple tastiest pulled pork sandwiches ever. Very tasty sauce, and nicely toasted bun. I ate mine with a fork and used the top bun to slop up sauce with... so yummy. They had even shut down the kitchen minutes before we arrived but reopened just for us. That's service. Motorcycle parking. A must stop on the dragon route.

Visited on June 15, 2014 after spending several days in backcountry of GSMNP. Food was delicious. Guys in our party either had the Dragon Burger or the pulled pork, everyone raved. Owners were the definition of pleasantness and hospitality. Would have given 5 stars if fries serving had been more generous, but they were delicious fat crinkle cuts--mmmmm. Only wish they could have served cold beer with their delicious food. Will eat here again next time I'm in the area.

Great food and friendly service right off the Tail of the Dragon on US 129. I was there during the day - but it seems like it would be a great place to grab a drink or get a room for the weekend.

We live in Missouri, where we have both St. Louis and Kansas City BBQ. We love BBQ. The server was polite and checked on us a few times. 1) plate one was beef brisket, potato salad and slaw. The slaw tastes like any ole slaw you'd buy at the grocery store. It was good but nothing special. The potato salad wasn't bad but it didn't have very much flavor. Basically tasted like boiled potatoes and mayo. The brisket was probably 70% fat. Each slice was over half fat. Even the pieces that looked like meat, had the texture and taste of fat. The picture that looks like a full plate, that was after I finished eating. I couldn't punish myself anymore than that. I posted a picture of the empty plate (we boxed up the leftovers to give to my mom's chickens) to show how much fat/grease was leftover. The other pictures show dry plates but that wasn't the case for me. 2) plate two (not pictured as it wasn't my meal) was half a rack of ribs, green beans and French fries. The ribs were tough and lacking in flavor. We are used to fall off the bone ribs. The kind where you can pull a rib and it comes out of the meat clean. We had to use a knife and fork to cut the ribs and then chew on them for what felt like forever. They also came out lukewarm and were cold by the third rib. The green beans also lacked flavor and left quite a bit of fat/grease/butter in the bowl after. The fries were also not seasoned at all. TLDR: nothing was seasoned, the food was lukewarm at best and there was enough fat/grease to clog the arteries of even the healthiest person.

While you wait in the line, often much of the food becomes "sold out!" so definitely don't get your heart set on anything special you may want to order. I often want just a baked potato without any meat on it (just a simple baked potato) - but the youngsters running the place can't seem to sell me one without the meat! It's very frustrating honestly. Since I can't get my potato, I just order the mixed berry cobbler, which is outstanding but always fearful that it's not sold out by the time I get to the front of the line. The best thing about Smokin F BBQ is the ambiance of the live entertainment with both inside/outside seating, the longhorn cattle and the petting zoo.

We got in line and figured out what we wanted to order after chatting with the couple in front of us and our friends. The young ladies at the serving "bar" explained the whole process. It's was all so good. Just need to go back to try everything else! One of the owners told my husband he liked his Detroit Red Wing's shirt! I thought they were from Texas but we will welcome more Red Wings fans! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any thing on their menu! Looking forward to our next dinner here!

That said, their chicken wing rub was very sweet and I was expecting a spicy rub. The pork ribs were good. The bologna tasted like hotdogs honestly. The sourdough bread wasn't really sour, it just tasted like regular white bread. Of the sauces, our favorites were Tennessee Red and Spicy mixed together; and we found that by mixing them together, it tasted closer to what we were used to. They still had a bit of an aftertaste that we couldn't quite place. I loved their cute store and their service was amazing! I told them about my egg allergy while ordering and was promised everything would be egg free. We had gotten the bacon burger with sauce that looked very similar to thousand island dressing, and the restaurant made it right by making us a brand new one, while profusely apologizing. We understand that there may be a little bit of cross-contamination, but the dressing on the burger was more than cross-contamination. The lady who took our order told us there was nothing on the burger except for burger, bacon and cheese, and then asked if I wanted lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles on the side. I asked specifically about the condiments and she said they don't put any condiments on their burgers. The bathrooms and store overall were very clean and very well kept. It felt like good small town America. If it weren't for the egg allergy sauce mixup, they would've gotten four stars.

The room itself was pleasant as well. It was hard to leave the luxurious king bed every morning. The heated floors in the bathroom and the comfy sitting area made our Holly Springs cottage suite the perfect home base.
